£3.30 for ‘Medium’ chips!! More like baby portion of crispy bits of chips! Absolute waste of money and won’t be going there again!

I was staying at Seaview caravan park, so I popped in for takeaway cod chips and mushy peas for my tea , they were delicious, the nicest fish and chips I have had in years , not to pricey excellent portion size and beautiful presented and wrapped so they stayed hot and fresh . Highly recommend 🙂

Great find, whilst on holiday at a nearby holiday park. Had cod, chips and gravy, freshly cooked including homemade chips. Great value for money. Great portion size. Wrapped nicely which helped the food stay hot whilst we made our way back to eat in our accommodation. Highly recommend.

visited for chips when staying on Seaview Haven as it was closer than the Haven chippy which was located at Weymouth bay. the chips were fresh and tasty and good value. yes it was a tad more than at home but costal chippy's are always slightly more expensive but this was by no means a bad thing. we visited twice and on both occasions we didn't have to wait long for any thing. the chips did have a coated taste which made them nice and crispy

Would not go back there was disappointed with the food fish was alright, but batter was greasy and chips where horrible and burgers was not all that

Very impressed with the food it is one of the best fish & chip shops I’ve ever had food from. The quality of the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We are staying at sea view caravan site and it’s just literally down the road from there.

I can’t believe this place. Went in to get fish and chips with my friends and because i told them they overcharged me, got yelled at. The chips were cold and the fish was tiny for what we paid. Will not be going back again.

Haven’t had fish & chips in a while but dads treat, Fish was good? fishcake disappointing as didn’t taste home made, pea fitter awful, chips dry & cold, overcharged for order, girls tried to refund mistake but didn’t know how to refund or find a code?? took so long so i said leave it so chips got colder. Very disappointing as wanted to support local business. Will drive further in future to my fav fish & chip shop on the harbour.

Being near to 2 Haven Holiday Centres then people tend to stroll off site for food. We stayed for 2 weeks at Seaview in October and went to Straceys once both weeks, the shop and staff were clean and tidy. Not the best fish and chips ive had but not the worse, so would rate as average

Nice clean fish and chip shop. Thought we'd give the Hoki a try and although the batter was lovely and crisp I did find the fish rather dry and chewy. The chips were also quite dry, they had the taste and texture of having sat keeping warm while the fish was being freshly cooked. Reasonable prices.

Went to this chip shop by accident. Was going to a different one but took the wrong turn and saw this one so stopped. Glad I did! Fish, chips and burger was all lovely. Would use again if I’m in the area

A cozy looking fish & chip shop that is ideally situated for both Haven caravan holiday parks, as well as for people who live nearby or who are just simply travelling through & want something hot to eat, a good menu including cod, haddock & hake, pies, fishcakes, battered sausages as well as mushy peas, curry sauce & cans of drinks, I had a portion of chips on my 1st visit which were so delicious but such a tiny portion size and on my 2nd a meal of cod & chips with mushy peas to take back to my caravan which was equally tasty, overall a good place to eat.

I was staying nearby with my wife and decided to get some fish and chips one evening to take back to our rental cottage and chose this one as it was the closest. What a huge disappointment. The food was clearly not recently cooked. The fish was very dry and cold as were the chips. A very poor experience.

What a great meal. I phoned through an order for our 18 strong party for 730 on a Friday evening. The food was ready on time and hot. It was clearly label and nothing was missing. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was so tasty and great portions size.

This is the best fish and chip shop I've ever been to. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked, the fish batter was crispy throughout. We hadn't planned on going back there but we all loved it so much we returned 3 days later.

First night of our holidays and we used to always use this fish and chip shop, but last night we had to throw most of it away, the chips were deep fried and hard like they were dipped in batter first. Battered sausage was nice though. Really gone down hill, will be using Preston road one from now on.

Have used Straceys for years until last year when it closed due to a fire. It was always our go to on the first night of holiday. Very happy that it has opened again! We were not disappointed. We had cod and chips, battered sausage and chips and chicken bites and chips, all good! Only thing we could possibly moan about is that it shuts quite early!

Bit sceptical having read some of the reviews. Shouldn't have been! Friendly, efficient and fast service. Had chips and chicken chunks. Chips were lovely and a good sized portion. I personally love the small crispy bits - took me back to my youth when you could buy a bag of crispy bits for pennies. I had the chicken chunks which were crispy but not greasy and chicken was lean and chunky. All in all, very yummy! Thank you! I will definitely be back!

Young chap taking order was very friendly and polite, excellent customer service given. Unfortunately, that was the only positives from this experience. Cod + chips (with salt & vinegar) ordered, fulfiled in 10-15 mins (which is fine), took the meal back to a local caravan park approx 5 min walk away, upon eating both myself and partner both come to the same conclusiom. No salt & vinegar added, chips were tasteless, luke warm and frankly, tasted and looked like they had been cooked many many hours earlier. The cod wasn't paricularly great either, batter was dry and tasted 'old'. Overall, great service from the folks working there, very poor food. Couldn't recommend unfortunately.

This is one of the best fish chip shops in Weymouth had sausage chips Saturday and it was 5 star food not to pricey and well cooked waited while being cooked not to long and not expensive was worth the drive from holiday park Weymouth bay 5 minutes i am going again tonight, yummy

Shop has had a big refit. The chips were good before, now they are even better! Definitely recommend to all. Shame they no longer serve mozzarella sticks though, as the vegetarian choices are very limited. But the cheese & onion fry-it is very nice

Judging by the queue outside I expected this to be a really great place but it was very disappointing. Agreed to wait 45minutes for my order and so I was expecting a tasty, hot fish and chips but it was pretty awful. Overdone fish and rubbish chips. Not sure why this place was so busy, aside from the nice girls serving it wasn't good and I would not recommend.

Went here with the family this evening and thought by the fact there was a queue that we had made a good choice. Waited around 25 minutes from ordering for the food, which as standard fish and chips was a long wait. Really disappointed. The chips were soggy and greasy and very unappetizing. I’ve visit Straceys regularly and can honestly say they have never failed to impress me. The food is always of exceptional quality and the staff are polite and provide prompt service. Their vegetarian menu is excellent too. A great local asset!

Despite a plethora of staff in the kitchen and no other customers, took an absolute age to be served. Staff even forgot they had taken our order. Probably the worst service I have received in a fish and chip shop since the 20th century.

Being a lifetime local, I have tried all the fish and chip shops in the area. Stracey's are by far the best. It is COVID lockdown at the moment and they are offering a delivery service. Visited on the off chance as passing. Thought the Dorset Faggots would be a nice "local" dish to sample. Obviously they don't sell many of these as ours was solid to the core and inedible. Extremely disappointing and next time we'll pass on by.

My husband and 2 children popped here to get some food which is only a short walk from the holiday park My husband had fish and chips which he said the fish was ok not great and the chips were rubbish and very very dry 1 daughter had plain jumbo sausage which she only ate half of it as she didn’t like the taste of it And my other daughter had the battered jumbo sausage which she enjoyed but again the chips they both said were too dry and hard to swallow So sadly most it went in the food waste We won’t be using this chip shop again

Come here regularly as local and always have an enjoyable meal. Food hot and friendly service. Nice and clean premises. Fish white and flakey. Batter not too thick.

Straceys was a brilliant fish and chip shop until a couple of years ago. It used to be a weekly treat that we and a number of local people looked forward to, good fresh fish and great chips. Then they did a complete refurb of the shop, installed modern equipment etc and that’s when it lost its way. I can honestly say we have not had a good meal from there since then, and we have given it every opportunity.

Amazing gluten and dairy free fish and chips from Stracey’s this evening! We popped in on the off chance to see if they could cater for our food allergies and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They checked all the ingredients thoroughly, prepared our food separately, and it was absolutely delicious! Cooked fresh to order, while we waited, nothing was too much trouble! No hint of any of the issues mentioned in the recent reviews on trip advisor. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those with allergies or intolerances. (Note - they also cater for vegan customers)

I have visited this chip shop once before and it was great, so decided to pop in this evening for the same as we had last time, COD bites and chips x 2 let me tell you this time was VERY different! Staff looked like they HATED working there and the cod bites literally had no fish in whatsoever? And I’m not joking!! and the chips were all stuck together like they’d been reheated despite us being the first customers in the shop upon opening at 5pm and to top it off there was the longest black hair inside the chip tray ( mine is short and red ) needless to say it all went straight in the bin! Be warned

We’re regular visitors to Stracey’s and usually it’s decent quality here - but this was a shambles. Stand-in member of staff clearly couldn’t cook fish - got home, soggy and all the batter was stuck to the paper. I’d suggest the main priority of any fish and chip shop is to ensure a crispy offering for its customers, just like it used to be here, not mushy fish and sad looking grey chips - real shame as it’s been our preferred local chippy for several years. However, while the recent refurbishment of the premises had whetted our appetite, unfortunately the overall quality has gone backwards - hopefully a one-off.

We were staying at the nearby holiday park and thought we will have fish and chips means we were near the sea. My fish was so overcooked there was no fish, soggy chips and my curry sauce was a pot of gloop. Couldn't take back as the shop would have been closed when we got there.Nearly £20 down the drain.

We went to the chip shop on a Sunday night only had fish cakes and reheat chips, was not nice.We used this shop last August which was very good, I think that the shop has gone down hill and will not be using it again.

Just thrown my food in the bin! I ordered a vegan burger and that was it a dry burger in between two dry pieces of dry bread roll. The burger was hot but too dry to eat!

We booked and stayed in the cottage next door and due to weather returned home early, the fish and chip shop was excellent and we sampled chicken, sausage, burgers, onion rings and everything was lovely, freshly cooked, well presented and tasted lovely, please note that reduced hours are October, but they display what times they are open each day. It was a rainy day whilst staying at a caravan park, so my husband decided to get fish & chips to eat in the caravan. We enjoyed them very much that we actually went back again.

New lad on the till, got the wrong order only realised when I got home. The cod portions were tiny and the chips were pale and hard.

This was a last min stop on the way home,great fresh cooked and tasty food. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5, is there was a long wait (but not many customers) and they only take cash payments.

During our annual trip to Dorset we always ensure at least one visit here because the fish and chips are fantastic. This year didn’t disappoint. Everything is cooked to order. The fish is fantastic in a good batter and the chips great; portions are generous. As ever didn’t disappoint and we’ll be back next year.

Stracey fish and chips were amazing. Never had fish that tasted so good. I also tried the faggot which was lovely too. Definitely recommend if you are staying here.

After traveling 4 1/2 hours we decided to try this local chippy. Althought many people on here seem to complain about the portion size and the food being cold. We did not come across any of this we both felt the portions sizes were good, the food was fresh and warm as cooked to order. In addition to this I would like to add that the value for money is extremely good as I paid £12 for two portions of cod and chips, which compared to our local chippy is very reasonable. So well done all.

Food is cooked to order, yet still cold when it's given to you. Even having to wait half an hour for your order. Chips are extremely dry and lack flavour, fish and roe were very greasy and the curry sauce well I'd be better off buying a jar. Prices are over inflated for the small amount that you get. First time coming here and never again. High prices are due to the fact that they are next to a caravan park. Talk about preying on tourists who are here to enjoy themselves

Went to this fish bar while on holiday at Seaview Holiday Park. I ordered 2 fish and chip a child’s fish and chip and a sausage and chips. The food itself was great can’t fault it fish was tasty and the chip where also. I only thing they could possibly improve on is the portions they are a little bit on the small side but other than than would recommend.
