No drinking no prices on the menu and staff can’t tell you what drinks cost??? I ordered rose Prosecco, Brut arrived and I asked why as I had ordered the rose? Rude waitress just said no rose left, that’s all we have. Would not take it back. Completely overpriced.

Die Nähe zu den Houses of Parliament und die minimale Chance ein Member of Parliament hier speisen zu sehen - nicht das wir die erkannt hätten - brachte uns in dieses nette und gemütliche Lokal. Wie in Pubs üblich wurde an der Bar bestellt und direkt bezahlt. Fish & Chips war unsere Wahl um richtig die Klischeekiste zu öffnen. Die Portionen waren groß und lecker. Leider, so finde zumindest ich, waren die Erbsen richtige Erbsen und kein Erbsenpüree. Traditionell hätte ich den Püree erwartet. Lecker war es, wie gesagt, dennoch. Auf Grund der Lage waren die Preise natürlich etwas überhöht, aber das hielt sich auch noch im Rahmen und war angemessen.

Ci siamo fermati perché molto affamati e già passato mezzogiorno da qualche ora. A noi è piaciuto. È un pub che offre birre e pietanze londinesi. Fish and chips ottimo e porzione abbondante. Riso con verdure molto gradevole. Birra buona. Locale e servizi puliti. Personale cortese. Occorre ordinare e pagare al bancone. Il personale poi porta al tavolo le pietanze. Prezzi giusti, anzi, considerato che praticamente è sotto al Big Ben direi, prezzi super onesti!

My friend and I were in Westminster, looking for a good dinner spot. This one popped up as accepting walk ins, so we headed over! So glad we did, it was great! Best fish and chips I had the whole trip! And my friend had the pie and mash, which was heavenly (swimming in butter, the way it should be). The seating was a little tight, and we got some secondhand cigarette smoke from outside. But otherwise an excellent option, and a great location too! Right near so many sights, and we could hear Big Ben chiming as we ate our meal!

Ok, we are regular here. We are Londoners and love to pop in to this pub on our day off. And despite this review we still will come back here in the future. But what we have seen today was below any customer service standards!we ordered our drinks at the bar and sat outside on benches. Unfortunately we have seen how customers service look here: empty glasses everywhere completely ignored-believe me-staff HAVENT been running like a headless chickens, broken glass in the middle of the table (where family with kids were sitting) left for a good 20 mins despite different staff members were at this table at least 3 times within this period of time and the remaining of this broken glass were swept out from under the table when this family left-45mins later!, no one collect empty glasses from any tables despite staff is bringing new drinks to tables, staff member removed 1 plate from table of 3 and it looked like he only “could managed to pick up just 1”as in other hand he had a cloth🤣 15 mins later other 2 plates from this table still not been removed🤦‍♀️ 15 tables outside, 3 staff members designed to work outside and they are blind for any cleaning, more focus on chatting! 1 staff member on the break was lying on the bench outside (around 5pm) taking customers space. No other fruits available then limes and lemons so pimms doesn’t look right. But food looks amazing! Like I said:we still will come back here. But if you need a help with staff training just email me and I will show you how customers service should look like.

Bahman was an amazing sever. He showed us amazing service and was so polite a credit to the bar!! Really good service and can’t fault our server at all!

What draws me here is the view towards Big Ben and it is convenient along the streets. The view could be better if it wasn't slopping downwards away from the streets (meaning your view isn't really parallel with the streets). The quality of the fish and chips was not bad, actually the smell of it is also another reason why I stopped and came into this restaurant. Overall, a decent place to have a meal or a drink.

Autentico pub nel cuore di Londra , sotto il big ben , classico dei classici . Mangiato un ottimo fish & chips , ottima birra , nella più tipica atmosfera Londoner. What else ? Consigliatissimo

It’s fine. Prime location. Food and beer were good. Staff seemed pretty unimpressed with my Midwestern self…which is probably fair. Still if you are pressed for time and you want a decent pub experience this is a swell experience. Could do worse. Probably do better…at least that’s what our tour director said.

Locale molto carino in pieno centro vicino al big ben, abbiamo mangiato bene e un cameriere biondo è stato super carino con noi e disponibile. Prezzi buoni e birra anche!! Super consigliato

This is the first time I've felt the need to write a review. Today I had fish and chips, the fish was awful. Tasted like it had been dredged from the Thames and for 18.95 was grossly overpriced for the standard expected. The ladies room was disgusting and would have been a playground for environmental health. I will never visit this place again.

Lovely little tavern, food is great, loads of beer and ale on tap - excellent choice. Staff are very friendly. outside seating with a fantastic view of the Big Ben tower and the surrounding architecture. I would happily revisit. The only small problem is the state of the toilets - the mens werent fantastic but my wife informed me that the ladies toilets were awful. They are in desperate need of refurbishment. BUT ... do not let this detract you from visiting this lovely little place.

I have never written a bad review about a restaurant before but this was probably the worst meal i have ever eaten. The first pub we stopped off in after landing in london, absolutely starving so we all ordered the chicken wings and 2 portions of chips. The chicken wings looked and tasted absolutely disgusting. they looked like they were straight out of the freezer and weren’t even cooked properly. Barely any sauce and the BBQ sauce tasted vile. Would not recommend this place at all as you are paying crazy prices for disgusting food

After a day walking around London and then cruising the River Thames, it was nice to get out of the cold and have a meal and drink at a pub. The fish and chips were delicious and well cooked. The only issue I had was the ladies room could have been cleaner.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Fish and chips was the special and we were not disappointed. Large portions and the fish was cooked perfectly. Very sweet flavor. Nice fries. Tiny place. A bit crowded for me. Fair price for London.

Deze pub heeft een leuke uitstraling. Je krijgt grote glazen bier. “Fish and chips” besteld, maar dit was helaas smaakloos. De bediening was traag en chagrijnig. Meisje in de bediening hing aan de bar, met haar hoofd op een hand om zich heen te kijken. Ze keek verveeld en liet allemaal borden en glazen staan bij lege tafels, zodat er niemand kon gaan zitten. Ze kwam ook niet vragen of we nog wat nieuws wilden drinken. Uiteindelijk moesten we zelfs dubbel fooi betalen! Dat is wel raar en ook zeker niet verdiend met zo’n houding van de bediening. Wat wel super was, was dat ze erg goed op allergieën letten. Ze vragen dit uit zichzelf bij de bestelling en komen later met de allergie lijst alles wat je bestelt samen met jou checken of je het mag eten. Dat heb ik nog nooit gezien, echt top!

Such a great tavern tucked away in the corner across from Parliament. Fish & chips are the best in London. Reasonably priced. Four Sundays in a row went there for pot roast Sunday!!! Excellent food, good selection of beer and about any alcoholic drink you can think of. Highly recommend!

I may be overreacting, but it just annoyed me that I couldn't get any food for my 4 and 8 year old daughters who had to in the end share a dinner as there are no children's portions (half size) or any items on the menu for kids. Just feels so outdated. Lovely lady serving us though, and the food quality was great. Especially the pie. Lovely location, and they all tried...Guess the gaffer just hasn't wasted to make it family friendly, even if the staff are

A very traditional and pleasant place at the heart of London, right across from parliament and the Thames. It has been operating since 1875. The walls also have lots of politics related antique decor and memorabilia. The food and service are very good. The prices are very reasonable. Delightful place for dinner or drinks.

O ambiente é antigo, com lustres belíssimos e muitos lances de escada em madeira. É um típico pub inglês, com a famosa torta de carne, o fish & chips e muita cerveja. A comida é muito boa.

Joli endroit typique. Nous avons bien mangé pour un prix correct. Petit bémol sur les assiettes immenses alors que la table est minuscule. Pas très pratique quand on est 4 autour .La serveuse pas désagréable mais pas très souriante . Elle reste dans le coin de l salle ,ça donne un peu l'impression d'être observé tout le temps. Just dropped in to sample their "Traditional Fish & Chis". Nothing to shout about. Place is cramp, maybe just good if you are there for a drink.

I went here for food after an all day Conference because I didn't want a fancy restaurant, just some traditional pub grub. I was with two colleagues and we started off with a few pints in the bar (atmosphere was spot on) and then went upstairs for food. I got the traditional fish and chips and thought it was very nice. I've seen a few comments from other people about customer service but I didn't find any issue with it.It is also close to some iconic London landmarks (Westminster/Big Ben) so that is an added bonus if you aren't from around there (I'm not a local).

This was the worst dining experience I had in London. Their staff provided no customer service at all and they were all rude and unfriendly. They smirked at us and I much believed that was because we are asian tourists. The food was ok but didn't worth the price. I would never come back again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Les plats sont copieux et bons, et le cadre typique du pub anglais, certes...mais niveau amabilité et service tout est à refaire...Il faut aller au comptoir pour passer sa commande (admettons que c'est parce que le pourboire est à part à Londres... mais aucun risque de laisser un pourboire si c'est nous qui faisons le boulot). Le sourire doit être une option. Il y fait froid à cause des ouvertures incessantes des portes, il n'y a pas de sas d'ouverture, c'est dommage.

Very iconic British Pub. We had lunch with relatives from Florida and we ordered fish & chips, a steak pie, burger, gnocchi and a cray fish linguini. Can’t fault the fish & chips; good crispy batter and generous serving of proper chips. Steak pie was delicious. I had the linguini and that did not hit the mark. The sauce was bland and a bit watery. A sprinkle of shaved Parmesan helped. They don’t serve puddings...why?

We ate here in 2015 and had to return. We remembered a great lunch then, and we were not disappointed in our visit in 2019. I had a delicious beef pie, and my daughter and wife had fish & chips. They said the fish was the best so far in London. The tables are small and cozy. Two other English travelers shared the tables with us. We became good friends, sharing photos of children and other travel insights. It's also a place where the local politicians visit for lunch, etc.

I've spent a lot of time in London and have been to many pubs there. This place is miserable. I went there for dinner (given a lack of choice around Westminster on a Sunday night). The food was fine, but the atmosphere was awful and the wait staff were rude. It was thoroughly inhospitable. Dinner guests around us were treated badly, too. I felt like I was in trouble and intruding the whole time. I did complain to someone who said he was a manager but he didn't care. Better luck to you if you go. I wouldn't recommend and will not return.

stoped in this traditional pub for a drinks loved the atmosphere of the place so decided to stay for a meal, although it was busy the food was served quickly very tasty whitebait, and humous with flatbread followed by fish and chips all cooked very well. A very good meal resonably priced.

Típico pub inglês e, na minha opinião, um dos melhores de Londres. Adoro o hambúrguer e o fish and chips. A cerveja é bem tirada e gelada. O preço é um pouco alto, mas na média dos pubs.

Nous sommes venues à 5 copines au sein de ce restaurant, nous ne parlions pas très bien anglais. Les serveuses de l’étage n’ont pas été professionnelles.. Elles arrivent en soufflant pour poser nos plats, le paiement a été tout aussi compliqué pour payer à plusieurs et tout ça dans un sourire. Je pense qu’elles n’ont pas envie de travailler.. c’est bien dommage nous n’avons pas été à l’aise.

Popped in to get out of the cold and this place is always packed. Good range of real ales and food looked good as well.

Perfectly located right across from Big Ben, this is a typical British pub with a quite extensive menu. Staff was very friendly. The food, although not very expensive given the top location, was not really that good. It is fine if you stick to fish & chips, but the pork pie was a lesser choice. The athmosphere was good though.

We popped in for a quick drink and the staff were extremely unfriendly, the place looked really direly, smelled and the drinks were super expensive. We’ll never visit again and wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Restaurant typiquement anglais. Le service est rapide et soigné. Le fish&chips; accompagné de petits pois à la menthe, servi avec des frites est au top . Vu sur big Ben et Westminster par les petite ma fenêtres est appréciable.

We popped in for a quick pint and lunch. The staff were so unfriendly and looked at us like we were something disgusting on their shoes. Upstairs we got the same reception from the member of staff who looked like she had swallowed a wasp.

We found this quaint tavern by accident and as it was lunchtime we decided to try it. I had the Pork Pie with Onion Rings and it was delicious.

Localización más que buena. El lugar es típica taberna inglesa, con dos plantas. Abajo más taberna y arriba restaurante. Lo importante es que no decepciona la comida el pescado muy rico, buena calidad precio. Abundantes los platos. Rica cerveza. Por poner una pega, es pequeño y si vas con mucha gente puede que te toque comer separados como nos paso a nosotros. Por lo demás estupendo. Atentos los camareros sobre todo el encargado.

Right there next to parliament is a great spot to grab fish and chips. It was quite busy in March and there was a short wait to sit, but the decor is lovely and the drinks good.

Fish and chips at a traditional pub! We enjoyed our lunch from the balcony at this pub. This was opportunistic as we were between tours and could be accommodated straight away. My family had the fish and chip but I had the most delicious chicken and potato bake.

Traditional English pub with good food and beer. For tourist , so tired with walking, it is a heaven - finally, you can sit and relax. Small but cosy place with young but very nice staff.

All our food was cold and clearly microved. Management did absolutely nothing and to top it off, there was a mouse. Management didn't seem to care that there was a mouse running around their pub.

The worst place I have ever visited in London. Our waiter was lovely, however the boss was rude and ignorant. We saw 3 mice run under the table and our food was completely inedible. Pick another pub!?

I really enjoyed the fish and chips platter at this tavern! The curry sauce was a great compliment to the fish and battered scampi. I love peas but this was the first time I had them mashed. I was impressed. Everything tasted great as well as the lemonade. Located right across the street from Westminster and Big Ben. Very reasonably priced as well!

We ate a late lunch here on our first day in London. We all ordered Fish and Chips. We could have split the meal because there were 2 huge pieces of fish. They were very good and fries were also good.

Si bien Londres no se caracteriza por su buena comida, debo decir que este lugar te dejará un buen sabor de boca. Mi esposo y yo probamos un par de cervezas de barril que tienen disponibles en el restaurante y yo pedí una hamburguesa de falafel que estaba espectacular!!! Te recomiendo pasar a tomar un descanso con una buena cerveza a este lugar :)

Called into this pub as one of our party was called Stephen. Great location right in the shadow of big ben. Friendly staff. Good choice of drinks

Our waitress could not figure out how to order a plain hamburger because the one on the menu came with stuff on it. She was not friendly and had trouble conversing in English (worse than the 3 days we had just spent in Paris!). The food was nothing special and seemed expensive for what it was. No children's menu and not many kid friendly options.

Fish&chips; acceptable, but without salt. I do not accept that in a similar pub they give WARM beer!!!! Pretty expensive place. The location was a traditional and nice English Pub, but unfortunately the staff was really rude. Furthermore, The pub was dirty and the toilet was clogged.

Δοκιμάσαμε για πρώτη φορά το fish and chips πήραμε ακόμα onion rings και ένα burger με κοτόπουλο. Συμπαθητικά. Το προσωπικό πραγματικά αδιάφορο. Θα το ξαναεπισκεφτώ μονο σαν μια στάνταρ λύση ανάγκης στην περιοχή!

We were wandering around the tourist spots in London and happened to walk by this Tavern. The smell of the fish from the sidewalk had us hooked, so we stopped in for some supper.

Very quaint little pub in a great location.... however, it certainly does abuse its tourist trade regarding prices..... £6 for two crumpets and jam REALLY! We had a ‘deluxe’ vegan breakfast which was £10.95 which I don’t have an issue paying as I expect to pay that for that type of breakfast .... what I do take at umbridge at is the lack of food on the plate!! We also had scrambled eggs on toast which were about £8.50.... once again I don’t mind a pricey menu if the food lives up to the bill, one slice of very poor quality bread, however, credit where credit is due, the breakfast was tasty. Would I recommend this pub...... no, give this pub a miss as there are lots of other great establishments that offer you better value for money!!

A convenient place to eat with children close to Westminster Abbey. Good traditional english food. A little cramped. We didn’t have the charm of a native server with a British accent (he was Eastern European) but service was polite and efficient.

This place is a great place to stop from the hustle and bustle of London sightseeing and have a good meal and drink and even use the bathrooms. The food is good and not extremely pricey. Fish and Chips, Burger, Brisket on bun and meat pie were all very good. Would stop by again. If in the area.

St Stephen’s Tavern is located next to Big Ben and the Westminster Bridge. It is a true British Pub with two levels of eating. We ordered the tavern’s special “traditional steak & tanglefoot pie”, picture attached, and a Chicken Kiev. The traditional steak & tanglefoot pie was excellent. The chicken Kiev was not so good. It was overcooked and dry. The service and beer were good.

Vi consiglio la steak and Tangle Foot ale pie naturalmente accompagnata da una pinta di birra Tangle Foot... praticamente la specialità della casa!

Pub proche de Big Ben, ambiance comme attendue. Nourriture bonne, mais peu faire mieux, j'ai pris une salade césar, les croûtons et le bacon grillé était dimensionné pour Gargantua

Out of the Abbey and into the Pub. This one did not disappoint. Cold beer, fish and chips, what I would call your traditional London Pub. Short of space, so don’t go here if you are offended by someone sitting right next to you. You order your food and beer at the bar, pay for it and it is delivered to your table. Just wish we had found this place earlier in the week.

Excellent fish and chips, I never try this before. Italian beer was famous. Fast service, the stuff is very useful.

We stopped into this pub on our first day in London for a pint and some food. The atmosphere was fantastic, old-timey feel in the middle of the bustling Trafalgar Square area. Downstairs was the bar area and upstairs they had about a dozen tables. We were seated promptly and ordered a few pints to get started. We had rarebit potato skins and some seasoned chips that were amazing. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we were off to explore London with full bellies. Worth a stop in to see and get some refreshments.

Bad service. Food took a very long time. Meals were mediocre. Fish and chips were from frozen. Don’t go.

We were seated quickly around 6pm on a Monday evening upstairs in the eating portion of tavern. We can’t attest to the quality of the drinks as we only ordered tap water (which was free and came with ice—a plus!); however, the portion size in relation to the prices and quality of food were poor.

We stopped in here after visiting Westminster Abbey and were grossly disappointed! We ordered the fish and chips, which I thought was horrible, and I usually enjoy fish and chips. The fish was something called "hoki". I didn't know that particular fish, but thought it would be as good as cod or plaice. Boy, was I wrong. I was hungry so I ate about half of the fish, but it tasted old so I couldn't finish the rest. Perhaps it was the type of fish??? I really am a fish lover, but not this time. We got there at lunch, so it was crowded. All the tables had "reserved" signs on them, and no one seemed to care if we wanted food or drink. We stood around for a while, expecting someone to at least say something to us, but that didn't happen. Finally, I asked if we could book a table and poof, a reserved sign was removed and we sat down. The signs on the tables made sense to me once I realized all you had to do was ask to be seated. They do that to reserve the tables for the lunch crowd planning to eat, not just drink. That in itself was a good idea, if you know to ask for a table, that is. It took a very long time for our food to come, and when it did arrive, both fish and chips were lukewarm. Needless to say, that didn't help matters. Will NEVER return to this pub, but there are many others to choose from.

This is conveniently located literally right across the street from Big Ben. After a long day of walking, we were glad to find this place and were quickly seated after 10 minutes. I’m not sure if it was just bad luck, but we were seated downstairs in the worst possible place. It was right by the entrance, so people were right up against me and I was knocked into at least 5 times. It was also a super tiny table/stools that was pretty uncomfortable. The fish and chips were a generous portion and tasty, but couldn’t wait to finish so we could get out of the awkward seating.

Very convenient to Westminster station, Churchill War Rooms, etc. Very picturesque, authentic pub. Quite busy, especially for 3 on a Thursday afternoon, but I didn't have to wait long for a table. Service was very prompt once I ordered. A large piece of fish, with fries and green peas. The breading on the fish was light and crispy. The price was reasonable. My first meal in London.

If you are looking for a full meal while in the Big ben area, go to this place, it may be a little crowded and tiny, but it has all the good plates of a restaurant plus being a pub.

I just stopped by this restaurant to have lunch, but it turned out to be a pretty nice place. I had a Diet Coke and Fish and Chips, which is what I expect Fish and Chips to be.

Tout proche de Big Ben (en travaux), ce pub typiquement British permet de déguster le célèbre fish and chips. Comme toujours, en Angleterre, les petits pois accompagnant le plat sont d'un vert très soutenu...

Good old fashioned English Pub and near Big Ben. Prices reasonable, service okay and well...it's a good old Pub.

Pub typique et chargé d'histoire. Evidemment, il fallait y goûter le traditionnel Fish and Chips. C'était juste parfait.

A mio avviso tappa obbligatoria se si vuole guastare il tipico cibo londinese(ottimo il fish and chips), locale accogliente e caratteristico( tipica taverna Londinese). Personale gentile, prezzo nella media.

After a fantastic audio tour around the Houses of Parliament we popped in for a quick drink. I don’t think I have ever encountered such poor service. My bottle of ginger beer was slammed on the bar followed by a slammed down pint of lager. Having paid our £9.20 my husband politely asked for a glass with ice for my drink. Another slam later and we wandered round to find somewhere to sit. The rule is tables are for diners only. This is a pub not a restaurant. The other staff stood around staring into space not a single smile on any face. We shall not be returning.

Went here for breakfast as was passing the area. Ordered two full English without tomatoes and earl grey tea.

Queríamos probar el fish and chips y no nos equivocamos. Buena comida, ración abundante y muy bien el servicio. Hora punta y sólo esperamos 10 minutos para la mesa, que no son para muchos comensales, suerte que éramos 3. Totalmente recomendable. Para mi hijo de 5 años pedimos unos crispy de pollo (tipo nuggets) excelentes. Tomando el famoso plato y una Coca Cola enorme, pagamos un precio correctísimo, teniendo en cuenta la ubicación y todo lo descrito no es nada caro.

Para quem quer viver a experiência local gastronômica é uma boa pedida, ambiente tipicamente inglês, comida ok e variadas cervejas, gastamos 35 libras para dois prestos grandes, chá e um pint de cerveja, recomendo!
