We have done 3 short breaks here and have our fourth booked for September 2025 - so safe to say we like it here, in fact, I'm sat in their bar with a pint of Korev as I type this review. The restaurant has undergone some refurbishment since our last visit with the introduction of the Norish concept and it looks like the Brasserie On The Bay restaurant has had a lick of paint - the work completed has really updated the look. Unfortunately what that has done is make the bar look rather dated, so hopefully a refit of the bar is on the cards for the future. We only have breakfast on site, so can't comment on the overall food other than the breakfasts are always really nice and well presented and with the continental buffet options you will get a filling start to your day. The staff are always friends, engaging and well presented and always up for a chat. The speed of service is on a par with with most of the restaurants and bars in Falmouth in that it operates on Cornish Time, in other words, it won't be as quick as you are probably used to. If all that bothers you, then this isn't going to be the place for you. I do agree with some previous reviews with regards to the rooms, they are small for what you pay for, frankly I have been in larger Premier Inn rooms. They are clean and modern with good facilities and a decent amount of tea/coffee/toilet rolls etc which are all topped up daily. The walk to the beach is never more than 2 minutes from any part of the resort and the majority of the rooms have a sea view - so for me that pays off the room size. If you want to be 2 minutes from the beach and sleep in clean modern rooms most of which have sea views in a resort that has 2 onsite restaurants, a bar and a co-op (yep, it even has a supermarket right next to the entrance to the car park) then St Michaels will deliver that for you. The walk into the main town centre is around 10 minutes.

Had a nice rhassoul at this Spa. Much confusion at the rhassoul initially from the member of staff who couldn't remember how to set the steam to warm up. She said she was just back working after being off for a considerable time. We suggested refresher training but it fell on deaf ears. We often see adverts from the Headland Hotel in Newquay advertising their rhassoul and new pool complex. We'll be trying this very soon.

What a fantastic place! There is a spa with a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam rooms, hot tubs, and outdoor jacuzzi which only costs £25 per session. They offer a full range of beauty treatments, all bookable online. There is also a separate indoor pool with a steam room and sauna area and if you stay, access is included in the room price. I dined in the brasserie and the service (especially our waitress, Holly) and food were excellent. Even the drinks in the bar were reasonable for hotel prices. The room had a small fridge and hospitality tray, and there were Elemis products in the en-suite. I enjoyed it so much I've booked to go again in 3 weeks time.

I booked a “detox retox” spa experience for my birthday. The spa was lovely, despite the facilities being amazing in some areas (like the updated spa gardens) and lacking renovations in others (drench showers not working properly) Anyway, moving on to the restaurant, the experience was shocking! You pay a large amount of money, you’d expect to receive the same service as everyone else, but it seems that wasn’t the case. As soon as we arrived after our hydrothermal experience, we got shown to our table, then we were just left and ignored. A decent amount of staff were “working” who knew we were there, but they were pottering around and gossiping with each other, whilst we waited to be served. We felt completely ignored and an inconvenience just being there, despite having a table booked at 12; finally being served after about 15 minutes of waiting to get someone’s attention, other lunch diners (who we also saw from the spa) turned up around 12.30 and had better table service than us, they were offered drinks straight away, were actually acknowledged and overall received a better service than we did. Is this because we booked the table too early, despite them knowing there was a booking? Is this because we aren’t posh enough? Come on, you can do better! After we had finished our food (which was very nice, no problems there) we waited yet another 10 minutes for anyone to notice us still needing to pay for our drinks. It’s table service, yet we had to go to the counter to ask for the bill and nobody knew, we could have left without paying and nobody would have know we were ignored that much! Such an embarrassment! For an establishment with such a renowned reputation, you’d expect better, but obviously they can’t get staff that care enough or they have a judgmental bias of clientele backgrounds. I can see from the other reviews on Google, the track record isn’t in St Michael’s favour. What are you going to do about this? Probably nothing.

The place is a disgrace very sad, for what they portray themselves to be , I was given a room that had a horrible smell in the main room and the bathroom, please don’t accept room 16 assigned, you can see the response in trip advisor saying it’s A\C, but they don’t disclose so you hopefully don’t use it. Very rightfully the room smells with less ventilation and definitely not suitable for guests if Aircon is not used due to poor air quality, this is at the best at par with a budget travel hotel for the room they try to swindle guests with. Not sure of how uninhabitable rooms are allocated, beware booking apps non English named and foreign guests. They also go in to claim how they resolved the issue swiftly ( which is after a day by charging guests for a room with no air quality) by forcing you to stay a night in an inhabitable room. Beware guests who think this is a premium property - no better than a travel lodge!! .

It's not a 4* hotel - don't stay in room 21. We thought we would treat ourselves to a luxury hotel for our wedding, but sadly it was the only let-down of the weekend. I've had more comfortable stays at half the price in Premier Inn. The mattress was so soft; I was rolling into my husband - fortunately we'd just married ;) We were very glad to get home to our own bed, after 3 nights for which we paid £861 (B&B). On arrival, the corridor and room were hot. We had to have the windows open as wide as possible for the duration of our stay. We quickly discover a seagull family was nesting on the flat roof below. We were woken very early in the morning by their noise, so I wasn't at all rested on the morning of my wedding. The small towel rail in the bathroom was extremely hot, with apparently no controls so it contributed to the room temperature. The room as a good size (classic king with view). The view was partial since the hotel's owner built a huge apartment block in front of it. The room (21) is in need of refurbishment, particularly the bathroom which was very tired, with cheap fixtures like the plastic door hook. How much would it cost to put something of better quality on the door? There was one small towel rail - not even a hook for the hand towel. There was dried toothpaste on the outside of the basin. There was a bottle of water on the room which I drank on the first (hot) night, but it wasn't replaced. The extractor in the bathroom wasn't working and it was dirty. The shower pressure was good but the temperature changed constantly. Breakfast was good, although the cafetiere let grounds into the cups. The Cornish breakfast didn't contain hog's pudding so not sure what made it Cornish!? On the second morning the table hadn't been wiped before we sat down. Restaurant staff were lovely but appeared to be under pressure, even outside the busy hour, which the hotel signage recommends avoiding!!! I overhead at least two other unhappy guests at reception during my stay. I felt for the staff - you got the impression that they were spinning plates and doing the best they can under the circumstanced. The hotel seemed to be understaffed. Parking is a joke. Don't go with any no expectation of being able to park. You register your car but the carpark is always full and you park on the road. Some spaces are tiny, so although I found a space once, I had to reverse out because there was no way I was going to be able to get out of the car. I spent an hour ironing my wedding dress with the worst iron and ironing board I've ever seen. I did ask but there is no steam iron in the hotel. The ground floor of the hotel has obviously been beautifully designed and refurbished, but you get the impression that they are trying to save money in other areas. If we hadn't been sold '4* luxury' and paid what we paid, I wouldn't have minded so much. We stay in a lot of hotels, and this is the worst mis-selling I've come across. Two relatives in the wedding party asked to move rooms because of the quality of the room, and noisy aircon unit right outside. (Ironic because air con in the bedrooms was definitely needed but not present). Interestingly, the second party were moved to the room the first party had moved out of, and were told than no-one had ever complained about it before! A really disappointing stay in terms of value and expectations. In comparison to other hotels we have stayed at, (and not for special occasions), the room was sub-standard and in no way matched the price paid. It was the opposite of the special experience we wanted for our wedding weekend, and felt we would have been more comfortable at home. When I checked out I wasn't asked how our stay was. I normally prefer to get in touch directly before taking to reviews, but I can't see the fundamental quality of the room changing overnight, and wanted to save others from having the same disappointing experience that we had. As locals, we won't be recommending St Michael's again, and based on our experience, regret listing it on our wedding invitations info.

This hotel is a pile of missed opportunities and cheap choices for a 4-star hotel. Location is great, nearly perfect. But their views are not as good as you'd expect for a seaside establishment. There is an ugly building that covers most of the views. The hotel is nicely decorated, especially in the common areas. Rooms are good but not great. We got there a little early for the check in, but the rooms weren't ready and they made us wait until the last minute before we we got the key. Whilst this is the rule, I highly doubt that both rooms weren't ready. Part of the hotel is under construction and some of the rooms have really bad view because of the construction site. Their breakfast comprises of a savory a-la-carte menu (average quality) and a buffet section but there are not enough savory choices (no eggs, ham, bacon, sausage). You get one mug per person. I had the worst scones of my life in this place. Hard, dry, tasteless. Same goes for a margherita pizza, which was straight from the freezer. WiFi was very poor in my room. The management is definitely playing cheap, I think they just need to be willing to spend a little extra to take this place to the next level. UPDATE 1/5/2024 Forgot to mention that parking is severely undersized and there are not many legal parking options around. Check out at 11 is too early for a 4-star hotel.

Avoid the Spa! Since they ignore all complaints!! We visited for the 2 hour "hydrothermal experience" it was not a relaxing experience in the slightest! Extremely over booked for maximum profit. A ridiculous amount of people for such a small space and lack of facilities!! I counted 30 people in the pool area alone without counting people in the steam rooms/sauna and outside facilities! It was an awkward wait to use anything at all which created a possessive atmosphere. A lot of people lingering, waiting for something to become available, it was so uncomfortable! Absolute embarrassment to the establishment!

Beautiful location right by the sea. Wonderful walks from the hotel into Falmouth itself or a very short taxi ride for those who can't walk. The hotel is accessible with a level reception area and lifts to and from the rooms. The room we were in did have additional stairs which wouldn't have been suitable for anyone with accessibility issues, so I'd advise mentioning that on booking. The massage was one of the best massages I've had other than my regular massage therapist who knows my body well. The relaxation lounge was a deliciously ambient room with a wonderful aroma and gorgeous selection of herbal teas and water. The therapists were warm, friendly and welcoming. They were professional and when asked what pressure I wanted, they were the first therapists in a spa that actually listened and performed a massage exactly as I needed and wanted. I absolutely loved our stay. I have added a few notes about an incident with an evening meal but if the menu is remedied, I would 100% come back. You have a wonderful hotel in the perfect location and very nice staff.

Been here many times in the past without complaint. However, left a bit disappointed on this occasion. We stayed for two nights for a short mid week break. Paid a bit extra for a room with a 'sun' deck, which we clearly didn't need thanks to the Cornish weather! Lol. The sun deck was fully overlooked by next door neighbours, opposite houses and the numerous building sites that now surround the hotel. The monstrous new apartments in front of the hotel now completely ruin the view to the sea. Sadly we had a strong smell of drains emanating from our bathroom the whole time we were there. The air con also made noises of its own veracity through the night that kept me awake and it was very much like staying in a portable cabin! We recently stayed in a Holiday Inn which was a third of the price and much better imo. On the plus side, the housekeeping staff were excellent as were the restaurant and bar staff. The food on the evening menu was also excellent, no complaints there. Okay few days away from home but expensive for what it is. 🙃

The 2* seems harsh but there was a huge fundamental flaw. We booked our stay here for the spa. We chose this hotel for the *spa* The on site restaurants were going to be a bonus. As was the on site parking However - on arrival we were told both the spa and the restaurant was fully booked for our entire stay so we could not access them. There was also no parking available so I had to walk on a broken foot up and down the hill to the car parked on a side street with luggage The hotel pre-offered to book the restaurant before we arrived, so that’s on us, but we had no idea that the spa would be unavailable to hotel guests. It just makes no sense at all. On top of that, the room’s bathroom has black mould in the grout, a door that’s so damp it’s delaminated, bathroom smells of drains, and bedroom the radiator won’t turn off even after asking staff to do so (and then trying ourselves) - meaning we were too hot to sleep. And that (what 17inch?) tv is pointless. Though we could hear next doors for hours through the walls. Water wasn’t replenished for out second night Just disappointing all round. We wanted a spa break so booked a spa resort as a treat. We weren’t allowed to use the spa and our room booking got moved (“not downgraded”) to a smaller room 81 which is too small for 2 people and feels like it’s in the staff quarters With piles of dirty laundry all over the corridor and open cleaner cupboards spilling out bags of whatever onto the corridor by the stairs Don’t expect luxury if you go for “cozy king”. It’s like a cheap hotel. The public spaces are lovely. Though the coffee at breakfast is terrible machine coffee with no offer to make fresh

A number of issues which collectively resulted in feeling disappointed. Stayed mid March, room was exceptionally hot, couldn’t get air con to work reception advised to open window. There were only patio doors to outside and we were in dog friendly room but as the balconies between rooms had no separating dividers the dog would have been off to someone else’s balcony. Room needed maintenance, heavily marked and paint peeling. Shower was good but no slope for it run and no proper edge to contain water so water completely over ran bathroom floor to the extent that had to use three towel to mop up. It isn’t made clear that you have to pay to use the spa (just to use it not for treatments) and in itself is unusual to find a hotel that charges guests to use it’s facilities, it’s a throwback an outdated approach of the 1980’s. The food was fine but at dinner ordered one dish and something else arrived because that was the option for that night. The waiting staff were all lovely and food was ok. The person who was on reception who I gave some feedback to about our stay was defensive, dismissive and fairly disinterested. We wouldn’t stay again

We had a lovely stay, the hotel is well kept, with a great gym, spa and pool facilities. We dined in both restaurants and on both occasions had wonderful food. The staff around the hotel were friendly and attentive, with one exception being the breakfast service being slow and a little disjointed at times. For example we were sat at a table with no cutlery, cups etc so we had to follow up to get the table set. One morning we were sat at a table that still had food around the base of the table from the night before so more attention is needed. The other area for improvements is house keeping, the first day the bins were not emptied and the wet towels we hug were folded up and put on the bed, not sure why. The second day we had one set of towels replaced but not the other. We also had to ask for shower gel and soap as both had run out but had not been refilled. The hotel is around 10-15 minute walk from the town.

A beautiful hotel, offering quality food and spa treatments. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. We booked a luxury king size room, but I must say it was a little disappointing, a little tired looking, the bed, and pillows were so hard, I barely slept, so the massage I had was just a waste of money as my back just ached so much due to the hard mattress, I know it's very difficult to please everyone but seriously I think this was one of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept in, especially in a luxury hotel. Our teas, milk, and water were not replenished for our second night stay, considering they provided the smallest bottle of milk I've ever seen. I've given 4 stars for service only because of room service and not for the overall service from the staff at meal times etc! Not sure I would go back due to the uncomfortable bed.

Third time visiting (although this time we didn't stay here). And all 3 times there's always been a problem. This time... They hadn't booked us in for our massage correctly. And so had to ask staff to come in earlier to fit us in on the day that was originally booked. I wondered why they were calling me the day before asking where we were 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Apart from that it was nice to visit the spa and the update they have done outside. It was a busy time when we visited and in places its starting to look a little tired... The sauna has a broken thermometer.. Pool looks like it was dirty in places and the steam rooms needed some attention. The outside sauna didn't seem to get hot (even when a member of staff popped in and adjusted it - someone else might of commented perhaps). It may of been just the fact it was so busy in there (we had been blessed 2 times before for it to be quieter in fairness)... Didn't prevent us from having a nice time though and we will be back I'm sure. Barman was fabulous, loved the cocktails! 🙌🏻 Those are highly recommended.

Great open mic live music tonight (Tuesday 14th Jan), apparently this is going to be regular, every Tuesday. Geddon!

Spent a couple of nights in two of the cosy well appointed rooms Excellent food/service/welcome. The log fire in the lounge is very cosy and inviting, especially as it snowed whilst we were there. Good selection of wines and beers. Will definitely be revisiting. Thank you.

Classic pub, great beer on tap. Locals and visitors welcomed. Amazing service, friendly staff. Also it's dog friendly. Great for sports. Late opening aswell, I've had some amazing Saturday nights in there! I'd recommend it to anyone.
