The tasting menu contains interesting food combinations. Courses are explained in detail by young and enthusiastic chefs. However this is compromised by a somewhat strict ethos of only serving local produce ( eg no lemon or lime for water and no offered alternative, and no chocolate for desert). There is also a disappointing atmosphere probably caused by the disjointed L shaped room and bland beige colour scheme. The table service from management also had some challenges, eg water not transferred from the drinks table to the dining table.

Erg mooie zaak! How graceful and glorious is St Bart's - the service , the surroundings and most of all the food and wine are covered in stars. This is one stop on the Michelin road that is worth every pound in your pocket and second of your time

Everything about St Bart’s is outstanding; from the cool sophisticated design to the well thought out British tasting menu, which flows delightfully from one course to the next. The food is exceptional, creative and comforting, and is well complemented by the additional wine pairing. However the real strength of St. Bart’s is the team who have put this together. It is apparent the people here enjoy what they do, which comes across from the moment you step through the door. Book now as this is bound to be one of this year’s hot tables!

What an experience! Meeting the head chef Dennis and the Exec chef John was a step above. Food really celebrating the best of British seasonality and not daring to stray away from things like Grouse. Amazing wine pairing my Sam. Cannot wait to see this restaurant and there sister place, Nest, which is now on old street in Shoreditch really grow into a serous restaurant contender.

Superb, the people who run this restaurant care passionately about their food and the experience of those who eat it. It shows in everything they do.

If you’re up for an amazing seasonal degustation / tasting experience then go no further. Four of us (along with one pescetarian who was ably handled throughout each course) on a 4-hour journey through some beautifully presented and multiple flavours of 15 courses. We didn’t do matching wine, but spent as much with appropriate and knowledgeable guidance from the sommelier. Service was attentive and friendly, with a couple of the kitchen members serving us up the course they just made (which we love). It was full/busy, even on mid-week, so book ahead!

Much to my bemusement, this restaurant is not named after the Canonisation of fictional animated character Bart Simpson, but after the area of London in which it sits, which itself is named after London’s oldest surviving church, St.Bartholomew. Still a working Anglican Church, which was sadly closed when we dined, it must be worth a visit. Also called St. Bartholomew the Great, this would be an apt addition to the name of the restaurant as it is truly outstanding. Currently holding one Michelin star I have no doubt that others will follow if the restaurant continues to perform at its current level. The venue itself feels thoughtfully designed, almost cozy, scandi chic. Tasting menu only here, which includes 10+ small courses, all of them exquisite. Very hard to pick a favorite as they were all so good. Here are a couple: Cuttlefish Noodle soup (with the noodles made out of Cuttlefish, natch); BBQ Lobster and Fennel. It is very clear that an incredible amount of thought has been put into the composition and cooking of all courses that is hard to describe in a few words. The first few courses are served in the lounge area with aperitifs which is a nice touch and broke up the usual tasting menu monotony. Service managed to balance relaxed, friendly and approachable, which other restaurants at this level seem to struggle with. Cocktails were excellent. The Sommelier was great - friendly, helpful and with recommendations around our budget. A couple of us also did the wine pairing which was great - interesting wines that you would be unlikely to come across (and nothing too funky). I would note, that is often the case with tasting menu wine pairings, the servings are small per course, which leads to a general sense of anxiety around not drinking the wine too quickly - more generous servings at the start might help? But this is a minor point. Overall, outstanding and highly recommended.

The staff were really friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. The presentation was nice - this applied to the food, the restaurant setup and the view outside, with a ground to ceiling window view to the Church - St Bartholomew the Great!

Relatively new on the scene and tucked away by St Bartholomew the Great in the City of London, St Barts is a small, modern and very light and airy place designed to reflect nature. Picture solid wood chairs adorned with sheep skins and bare wood tables made from plane tree wood. The atmosphere is informal and friendly, but at the same time professional. The tasting menu worked well with good flavours and textures. Everything was cooked perfectly and well presented, but there was nothing to particularly excite the taste buds, or in the way of a creative wow factor. The menu was also very protein heavy. We went for the matching wine flight which had a good and interesting selection of wines, although we felt slightly pushed into this as the wine list is on the expensive side - little under £70-80. At £140 per person for food and £100 for the wine flight, it was reasonable value for money, although the service charge is a little toppy at 15%. I also disliked having to pay in full up front with only the possibility of being able to change the date on at least 5 days’ notice. The usual sliding scale of cancellation charges would be preferable and more reasonable.

St. Bart’s is a cracking addition to the Clerkenwell dining scene. Gorgeously discreet, it’s in a lovely spot. As others have mentioned here, part of the experience is spent in the cosey lounge area, but you have an option to sit at the bar, which we chose to and had a smashing time chatting to the lovely barman who was wonderfully engaging and only too happy to discuss the mystery jars on display. I took the perfect dining companian who is a little cynical of tasting menus (doesn't care if it looks wonderful - it has to taste it!), who was equally smitten. Service was exceptional - friendly and well informed as you would hope, but we'd happily have had any one of them pull up a chair with us! Worthy of note was the spacing between tables which was perfect, the view over the church was lovely at night and tunes were top (we asked if they were staff picks or outsourced. In-house. Nice job). I've done a lot of tasting menus at London restaurants and this is up there. Would 100% recommend. Worth putting the camera phone down and enjoying the experience from beginning to end. It’s a class act.

Quietly opened a few weeks ago overlooking the beautiful churchyard. Huge windows and a semi rustic ,polished stone vibe. Tables well placed and a set menu that shows off the chef’s skills. Went for the £60 lunch and £60 wine flight. Absolutely delightful in all respects. The staff are young but knowledgable and engaging. It’s a tasting menu so portions are as you would expect, but the flavours, textures and combinations are marvellous. Will definitely be going back for the full dinner menu asap and you should too as it won’t be a secret pleasure for too much longer.

This gastro pub is amazing, lovely athmosphere and really kind staff. Good quality and beautiful food presentation. The menu has something for everyone - traditional fare as well as something slightly outside of the norm. The selection of flavours are both inventive and successful.
