Travelled over an hour to have breakfast here after a recommendation. Google said it was dog friendly but when we arrived some old guy barked at us as we walked through the door NO DOGS IN HERE, very rude, not sure if he worked there or was just a local who didn't like tourists 😵💫 not friendly at all. We couldn't sit outside as it was only 3 degrees and the furniture was wet. Nowhere else was open in the village. Definitely not what we were expecting, such a shame! There was barely anyone in as it was out of season I would have thought they would have welcomed us and a nice big breakfast order. Most places are very welcoming to clean well behaved dogs, but not this one 🤔 I'm sure it's very nice if you don't have dogs or the weather is pleasant enough to sit outside!

This cafe, set on the harbourside of this delightful old fishing village, offers great views and great coffee, tea, rolls, etc. The bacon roll was excellent. Our server was very friendly, welcoming and chatty. She was ready to answer questions about the locality in a very helpful manner. Thoroughly recommend this cafe. I expect it gets very busy during high seasons, so bear that in mind. We were there off-season. The building looks quite small from the outside but it has upstairs seating with several tables. One can also sit outside in fine weather. The village's lifeboat has a fascinating history. Operated by the RNLI for decades, the Institute then decided to withdraw the boat. However, the local community engaged in significant fundraising which, with the help of a substantial donation from the Tunnock family, enabled the purchase of a replacement RIB-style boat. It now operates independently from the RNLI. Impressive, especially as the area is very popular with scuba divers, so a lifeboat offers an important rescue/emergency service for the immediate and nearby areas.

Cullen Skink okay but not anything special. Pricey for me. Cheese scone was odd tasting- mustard? Just a little odd. Just do a normal ,well risen cheese scone. Carrot cake lovely and fresh/ moist. Winner! Coffee okay too. The girls serving were lovely - friendly, nice smiles and efficient - spot on! In general, a bit too pricey for us. Place was packed which was a good sign I suppose. Ps baked spud with something basic in it ,and side salad - £8.50! Cough, splutter.

First time visiting St Abbs and what a great place to be. Faced with beautiful scenery and lovely harbour Ebbcars is the perfect place to eat and drink. With a good choice of main meals and cake, we can heartily recommend the Cullen Skink and Haggis & Cheese panini (made with some of the tastiest Haggis I have ever had). In addition, the Victoria sponge and White Chocolate & Raspberry slice was amongst the best cake we've had in a long time. And to wash it all down, a lovely pot of tea. Prices for the food and drink were reasonable and well worth it, proving that you really do get what you pay for. And don't forget the staff (and locals) - everyone was friendly and welcoming. We are now looking forward to coming back again one day soon to experience it all again.

At first glance you might blink and miss this simple little cafe, but it really is a hidden gem - why? There is no better pleasure than a mug of tea outside on one of their seats (whatever the weather) with one of their stunning kipper rolls, no frills - just a fresh roll, packed with amazingly smoked, salty, lightly buttery and delicious, meaty kippers. How good are they? Today we drove from Fortrose (just North of Inverness) back home to East Yorkshire - a journey that took around 9.5 hours - and we planned it specifically so we could drop in for a kipper roll for brunch! They really are that good! Once tasted, never forgotten!

We went to visit St Abbs and this cafe was in a perfect location by the harbour for a pit stop. It was late afternoon so we weren’t looking for lunch but fancied a coffee etc. The menu had your usual range and we went inside to order and found a MASSIVE selection of home made sweets treats and cakes to choose from. I genuinely couldn’t decide. Between us we tried Turkish delight tray bake, lemon meringue pie, Victoria sponge, scone and cream and Tottenham cake which were all wonderful! The staff were friendly and quick and were friendly with our doggy who had access to water too. My only slight criticism was the coffee which wasn’t very hot and out of a machine. Having said that perfectly drinkable. If in the area do yourself a favour and try the cake!

We ordered a crab baguet. Well, the crab did not appear to have any white meat, only a brown sharp-tasting sludge. Worse than that, the baguet was hard and stale. When i complained, I was told by the server that they were fresh and crispy when cooked in the morning. What's all that about? On the plus side, my wife and granddaughter really enjoyed their order, so maybe I was just unlucky. Nice place overall, but remember, crab ends in a 'b', not a "p'

Our Airbnb in Kelso told us about this cafe in St. Abbs so we made a little walking trip out of our visit and what a find...every holiday box ticked. A fab little fishing village, awesome position and scenery from the surrounding hills, a cute spot on the harbour, friendly & efficient staff, very financially friendly pricing and the food..exceptional ! After our walk we had Cullen Skink soup and a Brie, Bacon and Cranberry pannini. We finished with a Biscotti caramel slice and a Tunnocks caramel wafer brownie. Very filling and tasty. If you are either on holiday or just travelling through the area, stop at this fabulous cafe to be fed and watered like a King (or Queen). Quite simply, this cafe is in a beautiful spot. We sat outside and ordered two carb rolls and two Lattes. The crab roll was £6.50 and pitifully small - very poor value. It tasted lovely and the crab was clearly very fresh. The lattes were quite simply the worst I have ever had in a restaurant or cafe. They tasted like some kind of instant coffee from the 1970’s. Overall, not a great experience and we won’t return.

We stay at Eyemouth every year. Last year was the first time we've tried this cafe and I was so pleased we found it. This year, I spent most of th fortnight here thinking about the cakes and decided to go on our second to last day. Oh I'm so happy. The cakes are every bit as good as I remembered. Gooey, sticky, sweet, with real chocolate, not the horrid fake stuff a lot of bakers use. We had the Malteser caramel slice, the biscoff slice and the mars bar crispy. None were disappointing! We also bought 5 cakes to takeaway, the orange caramel, biscoff, tunnocks, aero, and malteser. We're still arguing which is best. (Its the biscoff. Or malteser. Or the orange caramel. Possibly the tunnocks)

I was having a bit of a drive out after collecting a new car and was following the Berwickshire ‘scenic route’. I’d never been to St Abbs before so followed the signs and parked in the Pay and Display near the harbour. Despite the sun a bitter wind was coming off the sea, and after a few minutes walking to take in the pretty working harbour snd the grandeur of the cliffs a nice warm drink was needed. Ebbcarrs cafe is in a perfect position adjacent to the harbour. A couple of brave souls were taking their lunch outside. I decided that was not for me, the wrong clothes for such temperatures.Inside it was warm and busy. I was directed upstairs to ‘take a seat and we’ll come and get your order’. The menu was geared towards light lunches with baguettes, sandwiches, and salads featuring local seafood in some selections. I noted on the menu some local Cullen Skink. Described as a chowder, when it came it was far lighter and more interesting with some local smoked fish giving the hearty soup some bite. This was perfect for a cold sunny February day snd warmed the inner man. From the table where I was sitting I had a perfect view of the harbour and fishing boats. Almost picture perfect along with the lobster pies on the harbour side.A hidden gem not 10 minutes drive from the A1. Definitely worth a minor detour.

St Abbs is an old fishing village (still working) surrounded by an area of pure almost astounding natural beauty. History, birds, clear water loved by divers, walks along North Sea bluffs, nearby villages with pubs and restaurants - this area has it all. Except Note that St Abbs itself has no pub (an intentional decision of the residents and a chief brewery magnate benefactor many years ago) and no nighttime cafe or restaurant. Close by villages have both, however.

I will be honest - we went because St Abbs is the the New Asgard from the Avengers movie. Part of it was filmed here. St Abbs makes a play on that too and why not! You can get your photo taken with New Asgard signs and support their local independent life boat station by buying New Asgard Lifeboat t-shirts etc from the shop next to the cafe. If you arnt here for that you can take boat trips out including popular speedboat trips - the diving around here seems very popular or you can just stroll the harbour and (you may have to wait a while) take a seat and eat some delicious food at the Ebbs Carr cafe. We visited this small fishing village on a Friday, walking from Eyemouth in the morning, arriving at lunchtime and then setting off back around mid afternoon. Consequently ony a few hours were spent in St Abbs however it is a charming place, with working fishing boats and an independent lifeboat station. We visited the community centre which had a cafe and an internal craft fair / produce market (only on Fridays I understand), selling such things as bakery products, preserves, smoked salmon varieties, driftwood & strandline items made into artwork, and other craft items. There is a lovely view over the port from a hillside vantage point, and if you pan round you get a great view of St Abbs Head with the cliffs clearly marked by the long established presence of nesting seabirds. On the summer's day we visited, the sky was blue and the sea reflected this colour, dotted with some fishing boats which had left the harbour earlier. It painted a pleasant and relaxing scene and we felt fortunate to see St Abbs like this, presumably close to its very best.

Visited most of the villages on this coast, but for me this was the best, amazing coastal setting , small harbour with an independent lifeboat, that must be rare, and untouched by tourism, a must to visit. There is a single cafe.

Absolutely delightful in every respect. Plenty of reasonably priced parking, lovely walk around the harbour. Nice walk across to Coldingham Bay too.

Love visiting this place as there is so much to see in the area and the stunning coastline. Great walks and lovley little cafes dotted about and The Old School Cafe at the top of the hill in the Ebba Cantre was lovely for re-fuelling the family.

Fantastic site, one of our favourite places. Open, grass covered cliffs, with spectacular views over the sea. Great place to walk off the big dinners, and let the wind blow the cobwebs away. The local harbour is also picturesque, and home to the lifeboat service.

Great little fishing village, home of the local lifeboat which is privately run and I believe tours can be arranged for kids if you ask. Pretty, traditional setting with some good places to eat so worth a visit!

This place is TRULY heaven to me. A perfect day off to me is sitting here looking at the sea and eating one of Ebbcarr's cafe's fresh caught crab sandwich’s straight from the harbour - This is NOT just a sandwich It is Therapy! Utter BLISS!

We always stop by St. Abbs on our way to Eyemouth just to take in the views from the little promontory just above the harbour. So quaint and picturesque!

Superb pub. Popped in for some great pub grub on a Saturday evening. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good value food and two cask pumps showcasing an independent brewery. The kind of pub you wished you lived near. Highly recommended.

My friends and I were starving post 9:30pm and found this place open. We tried their kebabs and wraps and it was so good. Definitely recommend the shish wrap (the portions are HUGE). Thank you for giving us free fries and the water your kindness was everything for us ladies that day 🤍😭

I have stayed here on numerous occasions recently due to work commitments. Both Curt & Susie are fabulous hosts & I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are modern, comfortable & clean. The honesty bar is amazing & comfortable to chill in, along with the turntables playing vinyl which I loved. I want to keep it all to myself so I can stay when I want , but that would be selfish of me. Congratulations to this lovely family running an amazing hotel where they are nothing but kind , courteous & look after their guests. Best hotel I have ever stayed in & can't wait to visit again in 2025 & catch up.
