Sri Lankan Street food and Cafe in Coventry

I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. The service was absolutely horrible. I placed my order, and after waiting 40 minutes, I realized they had completely forgotten about it. No apologies, no updates—just me sitting there wondering if my food would ever arrive. When I finally got someone’s attention, they acted like it was no big deal. At that point, I had lost my patience and appetite. If a restaurant can’t even handle a single order in a reasonable time, it’s not worth coming back. Avoid this place if you value your time.

Ordered this via UberEats based on a recommendation who ‘ate in’. The price of the delivery was extortionate in comparison to the eat-in price. I was told that 2 people were over-fed in the restaurant for £20, yet from UberEats, 2 mains and a side with delivery and Using UberOne was over £30. When the food came, everything was cold: STONE COLD. I’m not being pedantic, it wasn’t even remotely warm, and for any restaurant less than 2 miles away, it’s not really acceptable at all. So 2 mins in the microwave per person it was! The taste and quality of the food was incredible. Spice. Flavour. Texture. New things. But if I’m honest, when you’re hungry, £20 worth of big standard food from any 3 star Chinese or Indian, delivered hot, and to feed 2 or more would be far more substantial than this. My advice, don’t order it for delivery. They aren’t prepared enough to meet the demand and the mark-up they must be making is honestly borderline robbery. But, if you’re in the city centre, you can visit; try something new; and get an abundance of flavour on a budget. A shame really because Sri Lankan food isn’t popular in the city and from what I tasted, it could be. I wouldn’t order again for delivery, but I’d definitely visit the restaurant for a sit down meal.

Stopped off here for lunch today with a work colleague the chicken kottu was beautiful definitely recommend having it with a tub of the gravy sauce, probably one of the best places I’ve been for food in a while great staff very friendly and happy to help, definitely worth stopping off to pick up or sit inside for a meal

Last year the food was top quality. Went with the same expectation recently. Waited for more than 45 mins for breakfast and coffee. Breakfast was cold. Not sure we would go again. Dosa is supposed to be hot when served.

Impossible to overstate how good the food is. The mutton kotthu is amazing, the milk hopper is a great sweet dessert. All the food is home made. And the staff are lovely. Must visit if you're in Coventry and like spicy South Asian food.

Stopped by for a quick bite on the way home from a long journey, and it was just what we needed! The short eats were incredible—so authentic, just like being back in Sri Lanka. Store has a indoor seating area which was not well decorated, ordered two items, mutton kothu and chicken kothu, waited for 45+ minutes, the food tasted microwaved and could tell it was not prepared fresh

Can’t agree with the rave reviews unfortunately. We had a mediocre experience here. A chicken curry with rice came to the table stone cold and the small poppadom with it was stale. Aside from this being bad service, cold rice is a potential source of food poisoning. Dosas were better, having been cooked fresh. However the masala chai we ordered never materialised although it was still on the bill.

Have amazing food and experience. Ordered dosa and it ckmes with three curries with perfectly blended spices and amazing taste. Good customer servuce as well. There are few seats inside the cargo container shops, you can also sit outside as well. Well maintained kitchen and you can even watch while they cook for you. Another cherry on top of the food quality, its very budget friendly.

Tried their food for the very first time with my friends, and it was an amazing meal. If you miss home cooked food I would highly recommend their chicken curry with rice & chicken kottu. Overall a must try.

We never tried Sri Lankan food before, but today was the day. The beef kottu was delicious, we also tried the fish and egg roll and the pork curry with fried egg rice. For all the mango lovers out there, the mango lassi was heavenly! Highly recommend this place! Will come back soon 😍

It's just a very amazing place to get authentic Sri Lankan food in the city centre. I tried their vegetable kothu, which was even better in taste compared to some big names serving South Indian food. Would definitely visit again.

I brought my friends here to experience Sri Lankan food for the first time. It's a very modest and lovely place with very helpful and nice staff. My friends were obsessed particularly with the rolls and the milk hoppers, but I loved the Sri Lankan chicken curry. It reminds me so much of eating my family's food. Highly recommend!

If you want Sri Lankan food, then this is the spot to go. It’s so good and everyone is so nice and friendly! Definitely get the black pork curry. They even have elephant house drinks! You can also call beforehand and pickup once you get there. I would’ve attached pictures, but I made the mistake of tasting the food first and just couldn’t stop. Will try to take some next time I go.

Probably the best Sri Lankan food in the West Midlands. I’ll start with the bad first because there’s nothing bad here except for the limited seating capacity (being a food truck, it’s pretty understandable). Apart from that everything else is great. The food is the closest thing you can find for an authentic Sri Lankan home cooked meal. They use authentic Sri Lankan whole spices that make their curries punchy and aromatic. You cannot go wrong with their rice and curry combo. They find fresh daily produce from the markets, that are hard to come by like jackfruit, baby jackfruit and super food moringa and centella (gotu kola). During our time in Coventry, we covered pretty much everything in their menu, like kottu, coconut roti, pork curry, and our favourite, Saturday special lunch “Sri lankan biriyani”. They never fail to impress us with their food. The taste, the portion sizes and the price - everything is just right. You won’t find a better affordable yet quality meal in Coventry anywhere else.

The best Sri Lankan food I’ve had outside of Sri Lanka and on par with the food there. I ordered the chicken kottu and egg hoppers and even got given some of their special of the day which was a biryani to try, they were all amazing! Looking forward to coming back soon to eventually try everything on their menu! Big portion sizes at very affordable prices and can see them making it all fresh to order.

What a find! So glad I heard of this place. Me and my husband went to the ricoh arena stall a few days ago and we were blown away. The staff were so lovely and helpful, explaining what the food was as I didn't have a clue. My husband has not stopped talking about it since, he said it's the best food he has ever had. My friend rice was unreal! We will definitely be back and will be bringing the kids next time. Well done guys, I hope you know how amazing your staff are. Highly recommend!

Oh, my goodness, I try to eat here at least once a month now. I do keep meaning to try multiple dishes but the kottu is so good I can't imagine wanting to eat anything else. This is a wonderful little place with great atmosphere and service, and my new favourite place to go for a Saturday lunch. Great value, too!

What a hidden gem! Absolutely gorgeous Sri Lankan food all cooked and served by a family that runs the place. Me and my wife are definitely going back again and again!! Even if it's just for a cup of chai as we walk passed. Really good prices too!

Amazinggg Sri Lankan food very close to Coventrys main town. This is all done in a trailer where they cooked us one of the best Chicken Kothu Rotis I’ve ever tasted and Special Biriyani. The lady serving us was so sweet which made the food taste homely. Portions were generous and good for its value. Special Biriyani was £9, comes with 4 extra curries, egg and onion salad. The only let down would be the dining in option. As it’s a trailer, it does not have proper seating, only a few chairs and tables placed but better than nothing. It does get very cold as they only have one heater for customers. I would definitely eat here again.

We ended up getting Chicken Kottu and Pork Curry and can recommend them both. We got large and regular respectively and regular by itself is a decent portion size. Can also recommend the Mango Lassi.

I recently found this authentic Sri Lankan takeaway. I drive from Birmingham & I’ve been enjoying it ever since. The food is incredibly satisfying with generous portions and delightful flavors. Among my favourites were the flavourful Biryani, savoury Chicken Fried Rice, crispy Short Eats, and the daily lunch meal. The authenticity of the dishes truly stood out, making it a memorable experience. And Dilan and his team’s customer service is exceptional. Very attentive, friendly and went beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. Overall, the outstanding customer service added to the overall enjoyment of the meals.

It's very considerately priced par value for money. (I pray prices remain unchanged ). You have to try the fried rice / curry dishes. Almost all dishes come with side dishes. It's family run so you get the best quality, personal service, extra attention towards any special food requests in line with the traditional Sri Lankan Hospitality. This is a really good Sri Lankan restaurant that serves authentic food just as if you are having back home. Been here few times before giving this review and I must tell that all the dishes like the Kothu, Fried rice and short eats(fish buns, rolls, sausage buns) are delicious! Prices are very reasonable too.

The food tastes great ! For 5 meals we paid under £40 with delivery. The staff was very polite and caring and friendly. We ordered the food quite late but they took care of it and delivered it to us with care. We wanted to try something new and we are completely blown away with the taste.
