KaBana in Coventry

I had an amazing time at Kabana, am really amazed by their foods and good service as well.

Stay away from the restaurant, the interior is run down, the service extremely slow, and they don't bring you what you ordered. The food is not great, but the most important issue is that the bread that came from the kitchen was full of small (live) cockroaches which started running across the table. This is really not a safe place to eat!

My family and I enjoyed a delicious vegan sharing plate. The food was lovely, the service friendly, my young child really enjoyed the flavours. What a treat to have in Coventry!

FANTASTIC food. We had the vegan platter and it was so gorgeous. The people working here are also so friendly and welcoming, and it's incredibly affordable. Well worth the trip! ❤️

We had the beef curry + vegan platter and it was delicious! Our first time trying Ethiopian / Eritrean food and we were so blown away. It was just a great experience, the food tasted wonderful and the lady who cooked it was so cute!!!

Do not be fooled by the appearance of this simple diner tucked away at the end of Far Gosford Street. If you want to experience Ethiopian/Eritrean food at its best, this is the place to go. Our table of 4 ordered the house platter and the vegan platter plus a couple of extra dishes to try. Everything arrived, beautifully presented, piping hot and absolutely delicious with a plethora of different flavours. Special mention for the Injera bread, so light and soft. To finish we had Ethiopian coffee and popcorn, which was strong, mellow and the prefect end to a truly awesome culinary experience. What are you waiting for, go try for yourself.

The food is really good and I think quite cheap. I had spicy lamb tibs (at the bottom in the photo, aroun £12) and beef tibs (around £10). The meat was very well seasoned and tender, the combination with the Eritrean bread is also very nice, better than the rice I think. The atmosphere inside doesn't really reason with the type of food I think, I was expecting some more African decor, which I think would improve a lot the place and I would appreciate more. Instead it is decorated with green velvet seatings, some pink neon like Heavenly Dessert in Cov city centre. I would also remove the shop door bell, it is fine in some high-end shops but it is disturbing and loud in a restaurant.

Wonderful vegan food, great value for money.

Have been wanting to try Ethiopian food for ages, after first hearing about Ingera years ago. Definitely didn't disappoint, and everything that came with was delicious. Staff were so friendly and helpful, willing to enlighten us about what else to get too! Looking forward to going back again already!

Absolutely love this place! The food is really tasty and the people running it are so friendly. The portion sizes are very generous so we end up taking back a doggy bag every time as can't let it go to waste! They also serve a delicious Gold lager We have been twice so far but will be back. Highly recommend to anyone. *Note, the service can be a little slow at times, which is fine by me as I like to enjoy the atmosphere of places, but I realise others may not like it as much!

As a vegan, this is our new favourite place in Coventry. Such good food and lovely staff. My perfect evening is to visit here for a vegan platter, before heading to twisted barrel over the road for locally brewed beer.

Missing beetroot in my order, eggs served separately from doro wot so tasted not marinated properly, the door wot was mostly tomato and no berbere and was so bland/badly seasoned, the side dishes were so tiny (not for 5 people). I ordered at 3 and was told to come 4:15 to collect and waited an additional 30 mins to collect the food. This was especially frustrating because there was no parking around. Terrible punctuality overall and quality of food is mediocre. Also definitely not worth the money.

Had a super lunch here today with friends. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Had a vegan sharing mix which was delicious. Very good value, lovely atmosphere and superb staff.

Second time I’ve been here now and it won’t be the last. The food is incredible and really good value. Staff are so friendly and helpful too. They have a separate vegan section on the menu. I got the regular vegan mix and it was delicious!! Will be back very soon!

Had an incredible dining experience at this African restaurant tonight. The Lamb Tibs with injera bread were absolutely delicious, satisfying my long-standing craving for African cuisine. A very special mention to the delightful server, Yonas, whose charm and warm hospitality enhanced the overall experience. A truly pleasant evening that was undeniably worth the price.

We stopped at this restaurant completely at random and fell in love. Vegan food is great! Eritrean beer reminded jamaican red stripe but better. Service was great! The best i had in long time. Atmosphere is very relaxing and cozy. (Music is unintrusive and pleasant). Highly recommend!

I found the the 2 brothers rude not helpful as I'd not tasted African food before fobbed me of with a beef dish which the flavour was great but unfortunately over cooked chewy meat and over cooked veg from the 1970's and bread that had the same texture and smell as tripe I wished I'd have gone to the Greek opposite

Outstanding service when we got lovely extra bread. Had a lovely time there eating full vegan food with family and will come back for the non-vegan options too. Loved the soup, MUST try the soup. My partner is excited to go again!

From the outside this restaurant doesn’t look particularly favourable, but I strongly recommend going in. I’ve had Ethiopian and Eritrean food before but this was on another level: it was really good. And very filling. I’m not a vegetarian but went for that option and it was very tasty. The service was friendly and accommodating too. As a Londoner visiting Coventry, I recommend it. It deserves to be popular.

KaBana is a lovely unpretentious restaurant with absolutely delicious food. Their Vegan platter is very filling, though I recommend ordering an additional pot of shiro to share. The space is very clean and neat. I’d happily return!

Any vegan’s dream having a whole section of a menu dedicated to vegan dishes. I love, love, LOVED the vegan platter and shiro. It was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Highly recommend if you’re a vegan in Coventry looking for an authentic Ethiopian experience.

This restaurant was amazing, the food was fresh and good, i definitely recommend it to anybody.

I wanted to try something new and different for dinner and I came across to this Eritrean restaurant. It‘s a nice looking restaurant and it’s very new, and it’s in Gosford street. I tried the traditional Beyeaynetu Vegan mix. Basically this is a large dish and it contains more breads, spinach and lentils curry. 2 people can easily finish this dish. Well, for me the dish was not up to the mark and next time I will try something different. I would say 12 pounds is a lot for this dish. The service was good. I would visit this restaurant again and try non-vegetarian dishes.

Don't usually write reviews,but this place is another level. Best place I've been in Coventry. This was a great experience I had with my family, the service was great and the food was so tasty with amazing presentation. We had the vegan plata which I highly recommend. If you like experiencing food from round the world this KaBana is a must. Couldn't recommend enough! Will be returning!

Staff very friendly and helpful in description of the food and helping me order. I got the lamb tibs, which was amazing. I recommend this place to anyone passing or to come direct. My experience in KaBana has been excellent , restaurant has completely altered my perception of Eritrea and Ethiopia cuisine. From the friendly staff to the welcoming surroundings, I can't imagine not returning. Overall, I give it a rating of 5 stars.

Do yourself a favour and visit this lovely restaurant in Coventry. The service, the vibe is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

I don’t usually write reviews but this place is absolutely changed my experience with East African food, from the customer service to the aesthetically beautiful restaurants, you can’t go wrong definitely coming back here overall 5/5 for me. Also great for date nights or even a go to place with friends. 👍
