It’s ok here. The carvery is really good value and tastes nice. The service is a bit slow sometimes but mainly when it’s busy! Been a few times as I’m working down here. It’s clean and also the mixed grill is lush. I don’t drink so their zero carlsbrtg is really nice.

We were actually staying in the Hotel 22nd to 25th and had our evening meal on Monday (24th) with family who live in Wolverhampton. Carvery was excellent. My wife suffers with Dairy and Gluten intolerance. Waitress could not have been more helpful, a big thank you for that, unfortunately we did not get her name. Will definitely stop there and eat there next time we are down.

Negatives: : Extremely disappointed in the carvery that I had to do a review. It was cold, tasteless and in my opinion inedible!! I court feed it to my dog! Bit harsh but true!! Mother’s Day ruined by the food. The stuffing was like a rubber ball. The meat was hard. The Yorkshire pudding was like a brick. The gravy was like water. There wasn’t anything remotely warm. The manager on reception wasn’t welcoming or explain what we had to do he just shown us our table and walked off. Positive: The girl who asked us how our food was, was very friendly and kind and offered us free dessert which we excepted. Unfortunately we won’t be returning due to poor food and poor management. Maybe a course in customer service would suffice?

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly staff member, ordered drinks and sat down, bar staff very friendly. I came here for lunch and to work with other colleagues, ordering lunch was easy using the QR code and lunch was bought over quickly, the jacket potato was lovely. Can't fault our visit at all and will definitely be back very soon.

Always a lovely meal served by friendly staff . I must mention susan s. Always a smile and nothing is too much for her to do to ensure you have a pleasant experience .

Pub was busy in the Christmas run-up but didn’t have to wait long at all at the bar to be served and considering there were a few big tables, the food arrived quickly. It was hot, nicely presented and tasted delicious. Very good value for money. The staff kept on top of clearing and cleaning tables which was very nice to see (so many pubs now clear tables but don’t wipe them down - nasty!!). No complaints about the night at all but I do think that quite a few of the chairs need replacing (more in the bar area than actual restaurant) they are quite grubby. And some of the tables have seen better days! I know this puts some people off visiting as their view of the pub is that it’s quite dirty but this definitely isn’t the case.

The staff was very rude, there was a table reserved but no time on it so we borrowed a few chair's there was 12 of us & we was told we got to sit out side in the garden, it was raining & we wasn't loud we just come from my wife turning 50 & we was just having a drink we wasn't be loud or anything & the manger came along & said put them chairs back no please nothing, & the night before we had food it was horrible I will never come there again, it was convenient for me & my wife because we stayed in the hotel across the road & we went on a boat in the day for food ,& then we said spread eagle for one drink it ruined my wifes birthday I will only come there for the hotel in future

Food perfectly okay. Don't expect cordon blue, but well cooked and tasty. Accommodation comfortable and definitely a step up from Travelodge. Would recommend.

We were really disappointed by the breakfast offerings - the cooked breakfast particularly; couldn’t finish and won’t return.

Great experience, carvery was lovely, one of the best mash potato i have ever had, stayed over night, room was really comfy, same spec of premier inn at least. Had a slight “hiccup” with the breakfast prepayment, however the staff was really understanding, kind, and resolved the issue in so time with a lot of good will and patience. Thank you Jaz you have been a great help.

The food and bar staff were lovely, at first the men at the front were ok until I had spoken to them about booking a table for 3 then I called prior to ask for a table for 5, when I explained this they became a little shirty and stick us on a table for 4, then a table came up next to us for two. So we asked whether we could sit there, we were told no and then he removed the spare chair that my daughter was using, I headed over to complain to which he marched back over and forcefully moved the table nearer yo us. Very disappointing visit

Sat by toilets, the wind blown smell was off putting. Stayed for one drink. Chairs uncomfortable and dirty, very dated, poor decor, tatty appearance like the insides of an old shed! Table had someone's name carved in the wooden surface. Will not visit again. Dissatisfied and a huge disappointment.

It's a lovely pub/hotel with lovely staff and nice food. Will definitely be coming back here again! The kids play area is excellent as well.

We had originally booked a table for 3 which grew to 7 when unexpectedly met up with family. Staff were incredibly helpful in finding us a great table at short notice. Quality of food was great including children’s and vegan options. All staff were super helpful and friendly. Thanks to the staff for helping us have a wonderful family day.

A splendid example of how not to accommodate customers. - Cold welcome - 56 minute wait - Food was dry, partly cold and without sides such as salad and chips - No one came over to ask how the food was A really poor experience, we will not be returning - wholly regrettable allocation of £60 and a family meal

Helped ourselves to a table, bit sticky having just been cleaned, ordered via the app which was an easy experience in comparison to other places. Drinks arrived promptly, food was slightly longer than expected but no issue. Come out pipping hot and well presented. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Must say the cowboy burger was very very good. Much better than I expected! The meat was cooked perfectly. Very impressed. Well done to the team. They have it running sweet.

We had our wedding meal at spread eagle 😋 it was absolutely beautiful we had a party of 45 and they accommodated for us all brilliantly, every one was very happy from carvery , burgers and not forgetting the mouth watering steak 😀 the staff was amazing 😀,, we even stayed in the inn on the evening and the room was beautiful and clean, spair pillows if needed , the shower was lovely. Thank you so much for the amazing experience with yourselves and we will be seeing you very soon

My husband had the gammon was very happy with his meal I had the small carvery and was not happy everything except the mashed potatoes was cold and I mean cold 🥶, I could put my hands round the pots that all the food was in I said to chef when is the fresh food put out for evening service his answer was its always fresh and walked away even gravy was luke warm, I voiced my concern to waiting staff and she conveyed my complaint to manager who never even came to our table to see what my problem was but sent offer of free drink or dessert which I refused its not the first time we have had problems in this pub but thought give them the benefit of the doubt so will not be going there again they need to brush up cooking heating maintenance of there carvery

Had 30% off voucher so thought we’d try the spread eagle. Staff were friendly and helpful,Food was great had the steak. Chicken combo,chicken burgers,tikka and a carvery which was excellent value for money 10/10 drinks a little pricey overall very enjoyable waiting times were a little longer than expected but pub was very busy

Cannot find a better carvery locally, choice of meats and vegetables. Haven't been disappointed yet and prices are remarkable.

Just popped in for a drink met with a miserable guy by a little desk who shouted at us have you booked when I said not he pointed to a small table without a word..went to the bar and the barmaid was even more miserable not a place to go for a jolly evening....hope the foods better than the staff....

Is quite pricey for what you get, and the two members of staff were quite rude.

Always a friendly greeting when arriving and as we hadn’t booked it was only a moment before we were found a table and shown to it. It’s always easy to get severed either from the bar or using the Marston's table app. The staff are polite helpful and make sure you are attended to at all times from serving your food and drinks to clearing your table as you finish each course. One of the best factors is that you are never rushed to finish and leave your table even when there busy.

Went to the Spread Eagle for a celebratory meal for my Grandsons birthday. The food was excellent, well cooked and promptly served. The two steaks and a bottle of wine was a bargain!

Being vegetarian, most carvery charge a lower price for just vegetables with no meat or vegetarian option. Unfortunately, you have to pay the same price here for just a plate of veg, which makes it rather expensive. Saying that the food is always hot, nice and tasty and staff are always friendly. Unfortunately the cappucino, athough nice, is always luke warm so by the time you get to your table, it's cold.

The carvery is good value, the Banks's is a lovely pint.

My family from Stratford and me from Stoke-on-trent use this as a meet and eat catchup. We have done this twice now and have really enjoyed both times. The food quality is exceptional and the staff and service are brilliant, even when it is so busy. The food area (carvery) is very clean and kept hot but fresh. We will definitely be back.

Really friendly staff, food was a little over cooked for my taste and while I think pubs should be open to children and dogs there really should be a divide in the seating arrangements to alow adults to distance themselfs from the playful noises

SUE S has been a lovely host. She made us feel welcome the first time we came she chatted to us about the breakfast menu as we asked her about it. She makes you feel welcome in the pub it's nice to know there's still lovely people about. Also when she collects our empty plates she comes over with a smile and asks how we are. We have been coming a few weeks now and will continue to as the carvery is beautiful 😍

Brilliant service from start to finish, nice to be let know when food was coming out soon someone who ordered carvery could get their food so we all ate together, table was cleared quickly when everyone had finished eating. Only slight problem was lighting abit too low but overall brilliant as always

We have been going here for about a year and the food is always great however the last two times we found the steak to be very tough.we told them and they gladly refunded me. Today we had the same problem the give us another of which was the same. They refunded and offered any meal of of our liking as compensation but we did not take them up on that offer. My point of this review is not to blame but to let them know where the are going wrong and better. It is still our favourite pub and restaurant and we will be returning.

Food was good.Only disappointment was not having Oat or Soya Milk.Which is unusual.This meant my only option for a hot drink was Black Coffee .Other than that ,on the whole ,the staff were great

My previous review of the spread eagle stated staff weren't very friendly Well clearly staff have changed....Greeted at the door, given a choice of seats, had Carvery. It was hot everything was fresh , the cauliflower cheese was amazing. The carver was friendly and gave a good amount of meat. Definitely our favourite place now! There's plenty of parking, easy access if you have mobility issues. Staff are friendly the restaurant is clean

Good pub food, great service. Few things missing off menu but was informed early on. Would definitely return.

We have visited here numerous times, however on this occasion we were seated by the carvery section. Whilst sitting here we noticed the chef handling food (not wearing gloves) with his fingers, picking up yorkshire puddings to put in serving dishes and also picking up a beef joint to transfer that. When serving people he did use utensils but the food had already been handled. I don't think we will be visiting in the near future.

Excellent food, professional and polite staff.

We met up at the spread eagle as it was half way between maidenhead and preston...we that is parents, sons, daughter, son in law and 4 grandchildren. We arrived in dribs and drabs and for 3 hours ate & drank in a very convivial atmosphere. The staff were very accommodating even finding the crayons for the word search. The staff never made us feel we needed to move on. Can you thank the staff on our behalf. The " spend" was over four cards...

Sue S and staff were fantastic at making our big party feel like we were no problem at all.
