Excellent service from Tarnya, thank you. Tasty food and good size portions.

Great service as always with our waitress Sophie, food delicious and served promptly and nice and warm.

Tonight was my first visit after the refurbishment and the decore and ambience is now superb. I was disappointed that there is no Tanqueray Gin at the bar and there is no Ribeye steak on the menu, (my favourite steak, hence only 4 stars). I had the Lamb Rump which came sliced, (I prefer to slice it myself), but it was cooked nice and rare and was satisfying. I was served by the delightful Kaitlyn who was most agreeable. I may visit again when I next decide to eat sirloin steak.

Best Sunday roast we’ve had in a very long time! Our waitress Sarah was very helpful and looked after us really well! I went with my mum who’s not very mobile and the access was brilliant!

Veey helpful and friendly service from Magda and her colleagues. When the seating we required had not been reserved, we were found a table that fitted the bill. Magda put up with several requests from the junior members of our party!

Have enjoyed a fabulous meal here this evening. We were served by Erika, what a lovely young lady, friendly, pleasant and very attentive. Couldn't fault the food or the service. Won't hesitate to return, very enjoyable and not rushed.

Once again, we spent a nice time in this place. The interior is tastefully decorated, very pleasant before the renovation and now. The service was very nice, we felt very taken care of. Special thanks to Dani, Tarnya and Zack. You are wonderful👍 The food is tasty and served quite quickly, although in our opinion it needs more seasoning. Bread should be fresher. But the overall impressions are very positive. I highly recommend it to everyone👍

Our first visit since becoming residents of the area. The Garden plot medley with chicken was superb, I wanted something light and fresh and this did not disappoint. My mother in law had the seabass and and said it was a joy! My husband had the mushroom starter and followed with the pie and he was very impressed with the quality of the pastry and the filling. Our table was quiet once the food arrived. Our servers Lydia & Holly did a great job, very friendly and relaxed but didn't miss a beat. Thank you to the team x

We stayed at the Himley House Hotel for 3 nights and dined in the pub every night and for breakfast every morning. What a wonderful place with the most exceptional customer service and care to visit. The food was great. We found the most awesome customer service team - friendly, caring, energetic and of the highest standard. Thankyou so much.

First time here since the refurb and it all looks stunning. Have to say food was amazing, Sunday lunch menu is one of the best around, and a special thank you to Rachel, we had a couple of fussy eaters, her help, advice and patience was greatly appreciated. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing lunch today. We haven’t been since the refurb but we were really impressed. The food was amazing and the staff we were really friendly. A special thank you to Rachel for her recommendations on the menu options. We will certainly be coming back soon.

Eight people 7 meals..St aff perfectly fine obviously a problem in the kitchen.

Unfortunately the main meal I chose from the seasonal menu was not available, then the pudding I chose was not available. This is not a cheap pub meal and I feel staff should have informed us before we made our choices. As we had already paid for the meal and drinks 10 minutes before we were informed about the pudding, we decided to cancel the pudding order. As we had paid by card we were told that the whole amout would have to be cancelled and we would have to wait several days for it to go back into our account. When we pointed out that we would effectively have two amounts coming out of account at once, they eventually decided to refund the puddings in cash. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

Relaxed atmosphere. Food is excellent as to is the service.

Lovely shepherd's pie and pork belly , but both meals of sea bass were so so bland.very disappointed, staff were very nice but let down by overpriced tasteless fish

2nd visit since the refurbishment, on both occasions the food was very average at best when you consider the price. The mixed grill is very over priced for what is served, it was bog standard. 2nd visit- barely any filling in the ciabatta, the chicken and bacon was luke warm as were the chips. Guests on the next table also complained their food was cold. It's a really lovely place, the beer gardens are fab and the staff are great but the food was disappointing on both occasions.

Went last weekend our server Hannah was so pleasant and friendly. She made us feel so at ease.

Really bad, starters not available and those we had were bad. Tasteless squid and weird garlic mushrooms placed on bread which was soggy. Had fish n chips, one of the worst we've had. Overcooked batter and a few overcooked chips. Dessert was sticky toffee pud with ice cream, it had clearly been left out as I've cream was liquid. The staff were friendly but really inexperienced, leaning across to serve food. The one star is given for the renovation which to be fair looked really good. Unfortunately we won't be rushing back

I had previously given a bad review due to poor service and food however to give credit where it is due, I have amended the review following a invite back on Thursday 1st August 2024. We were sat inside and our drinks order taken. We then ordered our starters and mains and shortly after the starters arrived piping hot consisting of chicken strips. We then ordered a number of steaks and burger which again arrived within a reasonable time and again all piping hot. The food was delicious and all steaks cooked to everyone's liking. We ordered a few desserts which were also very nice. The staff really went out their way and work really hard to keep everyone pleased. It was obviously a bad night on our previous visit however the staff have definitely rectified the issues and we would return again.

Expensive for medioca food. 6 of the items we chose had sold out. This was late afternoon!! The you lad who served us was run ragged so the service stars are not aimed at him. We ordered our food and was then told a large party was in so there would be a delay. If they had told us before we ordered, we would have left and gone elsewhere. Which is where we we will be going in future. The last time we came here was New Years Eve when they were closing for refurbishment, and it was poor then.

First visit since the refurb in April and it was well worth it. Look and feel of the restaurant is modern and right on trend. New terrace area outside is fantastic. Menu really varied and every meal we had was spot on. Shout to the chefs for the superb Duo Chicken, which has a Korean twist to it, Barber Smothered Chicken and the Pork Belly. And Tarnya for exemplary service to the table. Fully recommend a visit here.

Great place to stay. Bedrooms are well decorated and I always have a great night sleep. There’s plenty of choices on the menu and the staff are extremely helpful. Will definitely be staying again.

First time I've been here in years and it has certainly been done up since the last time. Very nice place now, we had a traditional Sunday lunch which was lovely and reasonably priced. Outside there was a great beer garden for sunny days.

What a disappointment! This hotel and restaurant has recently been refurbished and it has been done very tastefully. However, the service is dreadful. We were a party of eight people, when the first of our party arrived they were told that the table was being prepared even though the restaurant was very quiet. I noticed when I arrived that there was a table that was set for eight. We were left standing by the bar for around 15 minutes, so I asked a member of staff if our table was ready and she confirmed it was and we were shown to the table that I'd seen when I first arrived. (so why were we left waiting by the bar?) Like I said at this time, the restaurant was quiet. We were seated and given menus. It must have been around 30 minutes before anyone came to us to take our order. The times in between courses were too long. We had around 6 different people attending to us, so there was no continuity. Our desserts were bought out without spoons. We asked a member of staff if he could get us some spoons he said yes, the next thing was that I saw the very same member of safe walking out of the service door from the kitchen carrying food for for another table. We then had to ask again for spoons. Overall, the food was ok but the service was awful. Gordon Ramsey would have his work cut out trying to get this lot on track. We left no tip due to the bad service. I hope someone reads this at management level because you have serious issues and unless you address them, the money you have spent on that beautiful refurbishment will have been for nothing.

This is a really nice place for a meal. The menu is smaller than it used to be and they didn't have any specials on when I went last, but the food is always nice. The cocktails and mocktails are nice and they have a good variety drinks. I had steak and ale pie for main which was very nice and there was lots of food. The apple tart for pudding was clearly microwaved which is a shame because it made the pastry soggy, but it was still tasty. The car park is bigger than it seems with some at the front and then lots more at the back through the barrier.

Birthday meal for daughter had to wait a while till drinks were ordered then another wait for meals went to bar to get own drinks twice meals I think were a bit overpriced for what they were it's a place to go for a special occasion

Restaurant was full, we ordered fairly quickly and would possibly have tasted a dessert but all the staff seemed to disappear. We waited quite a while to attract someone and by that time the desire had passed so we asked for the bill. Even then we had to pay as we left. Food was excellent, perhaps more staff required.

Amazing meal, I went to himley house with my family Saturday and had a great meal, good atmosphere made better by our waitress Amy , she was efficient and couldn’t do enough for us , big thank you to all for the good meal.

The service is so slow and I had to wait an hour for my food and the food plates are to small it doesn’t feel me up and the staff aren’t very good they have a miserable personality and they aren’t very good and I don’t recommend this place terrible restaurant

First time back since 2022 due to sub standard food but thought give it another chance still not impressed. One of our party had belly pork with a wedge of charred cabbage that was raw..another had chicken that should have been served with leafy salad which she had to ask for as this was missing . Will not be returning..

Gorgeous venue and excellent staff (thank you Libby). Bit hesitant as the reviews were mixed but overall the food was good. It's pub food, and no better or worse than any other Greene King, however, there is a price premium. I'd visit again if in the area.

Love the new refurbishment. Been coming for years now and still holds up as a great place for good food.

Disappointing. We waited to be seated and a poor guy who had finished working had to stay iver to seat us because nobody else was around. We then had to wait a bit to be served. We weren't asked how our food was and we weren't asked if we wanted anymore drinks. We sat with dirty plates on our tabke for atleast 25 minutes waiting to order dessert but nobody was around. We ended up getting up and paying at the bar without getting dessert. Even then, when I mentioned about how we will have to have something at home, nobody asked us how our food was or anything. Very poor service considering it looked to be a nicer restaurant. I'm not sure if maybe the staff were too focused with the idea of leaving to watch the football, but nobody was really "serving" anyone. Just left unsatisfied with quite a high bill for 2 roast dinners. My husband didn't even enjoy his, all 3 of his meats basically tasted the same and he found the roast potatoes powdery. I started the meal planning on coming back for a nice lunch with family, but now I think I'd rather go elsewhere, maybe somewhere that have staff working.

This was our 1st visit since its refurbishment for myself & 2 sisters, & to be honest although the place now looks very impressive I'm sorry to say the food wasn't anything special, the prices were high for bog standard pub food. I had a vegetable tart with a few over cooked new potatoes & a dry salad, I asked for some salad dressing & was told they didn't have any, I asked for salad cream & was told "I will see what I can do ! " my sister had a burger & chips & asked for tomato ketchup & was told they didn't have any !!! The bacon on the burger was burnt to a crisp, there was no salad or garnish with the burger & it didn't look apertising, my other sister had gammon & egg & the gammon was also overcooked & dry, The staff were pleasant enough but we won't be returning.

I went for lunch on Monday 1st July. The food was good value for money, the staff and service were excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, They recently had a refurbishment that creates a lovely relaxing environment.

First time visiting today with my husband ..the food atmosphere and staff were all amazing. Would highly recommend 👌

Absolutely awful meal, we had been vouchers from our daughter for our anniversary and the food was the worst meal I have ever had and the service wasn't good either. Its very overpriced for the quality of the food. Definitely won't be rushing back.

Been to the new refurbished Himley House for lunch today. Lovely decor and staff were super friendly but the food not so good. The food was cold and not much filling on the sandwich's. Very disappointing

First time back since the refurb, we were disappointed. It was Fathers Day so expected it to be busy. We planned ahead & booked our table for breakfast. Staff were very friendly, our drinks order was taken but drinks didn’t arrive for at least 30 mins, our food order was taken & then had to wait even longer for food to arrive. There was no brown toast only gluten free brown, my husband’s white toast & some sauce we had ordered came out once we had all finished. All toast was cold, not even lukewarm. The atmosphere was tense the waiting staff were blaming the kitchen staff, the table next to us had been seated before us but we somehow finished before them so they weren’t happy which made us feel uncomfortable. By choice I wouldn’t go back unless we were invited back to be shown that the above issues had been rectified.

Regrettably disappointed with our first Himley House breakfast. Never ever had an unpleasant visit so we booked for fathers day breakfast. Im assuming the volume of diners was too demanding to keep up with on a special occasion as we had been there an hour before our food arrived. When it finally did, the avocado was brown, the garnish was wilted, baked beans had a skin on them and the scrambled egg had not been scrambled as it was one solid rubbery piece of egg (though it had been cooked in a microwave). It also looked as though it had been grilled/reheated somehow as it had a charred crust. The waitresses were clearly very stressed as a tray of drinks went tumbling onto a diner. The menu looked great but the food was really disappponting. Id still recommend visiting but not for a special occasion.

Honestly, really disappointed today. I saw Father's Day breakfast advertised and since the refurb thought I would give it a go. We came this morning with our children and my husband and it was shocking. We waited an hour and 5 mins for our food, then when it came it was all overcooked and awful. The bacon was so hard we couldn't eat it, the toast was rock hard, so hard that my sons tooth came out. We won't be returning which is sad.

The hotel looks great now after the upgrading the food was delicious and well presented excellent customer service from our waitress Tarnya we will be back thank you

Absolutely stunning food, atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Service was exceptional, our server was Amy- very kind-natured and made our meal even better than it would have been with the brilliant food.

We are regular visitors and WOW!!! The refurb is amazing, so welcoming and comfy. The food as always was so delicious, fresh and hot! I must make special mention of our server Tarnya, thank you for always making us feel at home, looked after and special. We have been served by Tarnya for years and Himley House would not be the same without her! Xx

Lovely early evening meal. Service was excellent. Alex and then team were amazing.

First off the service, it was diabolical. I had a reservation booked and somehow they didn't have it on their system so I was ushered to the bar to wait for "5" minutes for a table to come available. At the bar, I was waiting to be served with bar staff walking past multiple times only to serve newcomers to the point I had to actually call to them asking to be served. After being served and having a drink the original server came over to let me know that a table was still not available unless I was to eat outside. The weather was nice however too chilled to eat outdoors. I was told it would be another 10-15 minutes for a table to become available. After finally being seated 40 minutes after arrival we ordered starters and mains. Now to the food... The starters were "alright" they were not anything to shout home about. The mains were the greatest disappointment. The steak was cold, chips were lukewarm. Main Sauce was missing. I just don't understand how so many things could go wrong. The other main meal was a hunters chicken or their approximation of it. The bacon tasted off and undercooked, the chicken cold and dry. This is the only time I have ever sent food back. To finish off a glass of wine was ordered and arrived at the table IN A USED GLASS. This wasnt even just a bit dirty it had all hand marks over it, and you could feel the grime on the stem. As you can guess, I didnt end up drinking this and it was left on the table. In the end as a gesture of goodwill the manager agreed to waive the bill which was appreciated. I will be very wary of coming here again. Which is a shame as the atmosphere and decor seemed absolutely divine.

New refurb is great and the outdoor area has been expanded and fully updated. Staff were all very friendly and approachable however service was very slow even paying the bill took over 45mins from asking to settle the bill and actually getting the card machine to the table. The food was mediocre for the price that was charged per dish prices have definitely seen a big increase since the refurb. Group of 7 people lots of different dishes and the same comment for all of the meals was that they were all bone dry, Steak was dried out the gammon was dry and rock hard etc. Plates only looked half full like half of the meal was missing. Drink prices are extortionate £6.40 for a Moretti £5.35 for Guinness same price for Guinness 0% as well which is alcohol free so surely no alcohol tax applies and should be cheaper??? Even a soft drink is £4.30 for what is essential syrup and soda water. Disappointed as local to us hopefully it improves in the future.

Went their on a Sunday, they managed to squeeze me in as I hadn’t booked. Service was very attentive , food was fantastic “rib of beef” was melt in your mouth. You get what pay for - will be going again !!!

Underwhelming meal! Staff really pleasant. The chicken on my mixed grill was pink took my meal away to come back a few minutes later with chicken replaced so rest of meal had started to go lukewarm. This chicken also pink was told couldn’t guarantee another piece would not be pink as it was the veins? Took the said chicken away on a side plate so “I could eat the rest of my meal”. When the chicken was replaced I really couldn’t convince myself it was good to eat as part still looked undercooked.My enjoyment of my meal and visit was completely spoiled. Also was told no brown sauce available.Then told we couldn’t pay with cash. I will certainly think twice about a return visit.

From the minute we walked in , we felt very irrelevant. We stood for a good while, waiting to be booked in, so we decided to get a drink at the bar . When finally seated, we sat for a good 30mins longer, without even been offered another drink, so in the end we went and got our second drink from the bar ourselves, i must add we were never offered another drink throughout the service. We eventually asked a waitress if we could order our food , no apology for the delay, this was nearly an hour after our table had been booked. I'd like to add, there were plenty of staff available, however the staff showed no attention to tables whatsoever. We were offered other tables orders on two occasions!!! Clearly staff have no idea what's going on and zero hospitality. The place makes Faulty towers look organised! We appreciate we should have raised the MANY issues with the staff at the time, however we couldn't wait to get out of here. Not how we expected to spend our bank holiday. We'd just like to add, the restaurant Was NOT busy, we really do wonder what it would have been like at peek capacity. We always like to tip for good service, however on this occasion it wasn't warranted. Staff here need a lot more guidance and training to provide good customer service.

Went with partner. Seated straight away by Hannah, always cheery and helpful. Waitress came to our table quickly to take order. Both had steak n ale pie with chips (n veg). Piping hot. Pies very tasty. Had Tesco clubcard vouchers to use for part payment so good value.

Hotel looks great following the renovation. Food was lovely - lamb shank cottage pie was really good - and staff were friendly & attentive especially Abbie & Tarnya. Will definitely be back.

Visited on the off chance for breakfast, the place looks beautiful. Staff were friendly and welcoming . The breakfasts was lovely really enjoyed my vegetarian breakfast. The lady called Sam who served us was great, couldn't be more helpful. we are looking forward to come back to try lunch/evening meal.

The menu was much the same as everywhere else. The specials added a little extra choice. I'm not a fan of Pesto but that's a personal choice. Desserts were really nice. Drinks were quite expensive, £6.80 for a pint of Moretti, £7.00 for a Aperol Spritz? No Tia Maria for a coffee liqueur, no Tia Maria, what is the bar management doing? Best part of our experience was Amy our server on the night, very pleasant and professional. Needs work Himley House, outside is lovely but needs some more inspiration.

Just reopened, not the best service and food, waited too long for a Monday non busy evening and just ate when the food came as so hungry.

The grounds are lovely, the renovation has been done really nicely. The food that we ordered was great, though I believe it was slightly overpriced. Between 4 of us having a side each (not mains), a kids meal and drinks came to over £100. Being told it was table service, It would be nice if the staff were attentive and visible. Rather than us having to walk inside to be served. Understandably they are a young team, who seem to need more training. Hopefully it will be improved when we come back.

Came for lunch today being's the weather was nice sat outside to eat. Lovely seating area but was ruined by the outside seats being wet. My partner and I was both wearing jeans so they got soaked through. Ask member of staff for cushion has the seats was soaked said he didn't think there was any but did bring one but damaged was already done and we didn't realise until we sat down everyone in that area was saying all the seats was wet. Has you can imagine we could only go home after has our jeans was soaked through. Something needs to be done to make outside seats don't ruin customers clothes like they did with ours. Also chicken I had for lunch was very tough so left. Just make sure everyone that the seats don't look wet but they are.

Attended 09/05/24. What a transformation. Place is really stepped up a notch since the renovation. Grace was our waitress and her service was fantastic considering she had a slightly drunk dinner guest. Will attend again. Outdoor area looks nice and plenty of seats available. Attended late on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised they still had a few meats available for the sunday roast. Beef was a little dry but what could we expect for so late in the day. Everything else was great. Pub is located in a fantastic period building, I just feel it’s looking a little tatty in areas. Will keep this place in mind for future meals out.
