Spizarnia Smakow in Leicester

Spizarnia Smakow serves up the same delicious and authentic dishes you’d find in Poland—without the need for a plane ticket. Whenever I’m craving Polish cuisine or feeling nostalgic for my time in Poland, this restaurant is my top choice. While I do wish there was an English menu, it’s a fun challenge to learn new Polish words along the way, adding to the authentic experience. I couldn’t recommend it more highly!

Place it’s close but was amazing food

A great little restaurant! Wonderful homemade food. I highly recommend the pierogi, especially the meat ones! All the dishes we ordered were beautifully presented and delicious. I was hoping for some cake or a dessert and have been told they only do these at the weekends so it looks like I’ll have to return for more pierogi and cake at a weekend! The parking could be an issue if driving but that won’t put us off from returning. Thank you for making us feel welcome and the fantastic food you offered.

I went to Spizarnia Smakow today to get some lunch while at LRI, the chap behind the counter was more than accommodating, I had the white Borscht and meat dumplings, it was all out of this world. My mum is slightly picky with polish soups and she absolutely wolfed it down. All the food was so homely and wholesome! Cannot recommend the place enough. I only wish I had 3 stomachs so I could of had the pork goulash as well.

Amazing polish restaurant. The food is so fresh and what big portion sizes as well. The pork schnitzel was the size of the plate no kidding. It was very tasty you can tell they are from Poland it was like we were there the food is that good. The people are lovely too, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return next time we are back in Leicester.

True trattoria restaurant and takeaway, plenty of options of super duper wonderful tasty food. You can take it easy and even though you have just eaten a generous portion you will be wanting to come back again and taste each one. My friends and me ordered 2 duck drumsticks with spinach + 2 pork steaks. They are set meals, you can choose rice/mashed potatoes + lettuce salad. Tastes good and you can dine with the aromatic flowers smell! Cash only.

Food is delicious exactly like in Poland, no complaints, only downside there is no English menu, but this is not a problem, they have a food display where you can actually see the food, I noticed they clientele is mostly polish customers. The owner 🧑‍🍳 can cook really tasty polish dishes, I felt I was in Polska 😊

Amazing polish bistro in Leicester. Honestly there are not enough stars on the scale to describe how fantastic the food is here. It's homemade and authentic and tastes just like I remember it from home. Everything is prepared fresh daily and the menu is different each day. The portions are huge making it such a great value for money. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and prices very accessible. Everything I've tried here so far was just mouth-watering. Definitely give it a try and I can guarantee you'll want to come back for more.

Niestety nie dowiem się jak smakują obiady. Dwie panie z dzisiaj mnie na pewno pamiętają. Otworzyły drzwi 10:55. Wszedłem zapytać czy otwarte ale pani powiedziała że trzeba wrócić o 11:30 ponieważ nie jest nic gotowe prócz rosołu i pierogów. Wszędzie napisane że otwarcie o 11. Specjalnie ogarnąłem wszystko z rana żeby pójść i zjeść fajny, smaczny domowy obiadek. A kiedy wspomniałem że jestem o 11 bo w internecie jest tak napisane, to rozłożyły ręce i " nie mamy nic gotowe bo to musi się upiec i usmażyć. Ja rozumiem bo sam pracuje w gastronomii ale skoro 11 to 11 :) Panie powinny otworzyć o 11 ale nie były gotowe. Nie przyjdę drugi raz i nie skosztuje, a miałem nadzieję że znalazłem fajną polska knajpkę ze smacznym jedzonkiem. Poszedłem do knajpy ulice obok. Dziękuję i Pozdrawiam.

Znacie powiedzenie " Jak u Mamy " 🥰 to to miejsce może wiele wam przypomnieć , nawet z piaskownicy , kiedy Mamuśka z balkonu krzyczała .........na obiad 😂 żucaleś graty i waliłeś do domu na pyszny rosołek i schaboszczaka , tam tak faktycznie jest , tylko się nie zdźw jak się schaboszczak nie mieści na talerzu a za obiad zapłacisz o8-9 £ 😁 , sam kiedyś gotowałem 16 lat ale zawsze z uśmiechem na ustach wale tam na obiadek 🥰. Pozdrawiam i POLECAM

Nice Polish Restaurant, tasty food. Cosy place. Due to space limitation, sometime you might need to wait if you want to dine in at restaurant. When I visited they had only two staff, you might face little delay in getting the food on the table. But food is good. Worth visiting. Not expensive also.

Przedewszystkim nazwanie tego miejsca Restauracja jest ogromnym nieporozumieniem. Wprowadziło nas to w błąd i ogromne rozczarowanie. To miejsce to raczej bar mleczny lub jadłodajnia dla lokalnych. Ciasno, masa niepotrzebnych bibelotów do okoła. Byłam tam po raz pierwszy i z pewnością ostatni. Połowa z bardzo krótkiej oferty na ten dzień była już niedostępna. Wzięliśmy więc co było. Pierogi ruskie przyszły koszmarnie rozgotowane a na talerzu nadal pływała woda z gotowania. W środku nadzienie tylko z ziemniaków, bez żadnych przypraw typu pieprz, sól. A najgorszym były 2 włosy znalezione między pierogami. Obrzydliwe. Frytki które zostały podane z rybą do innego dania zostały spalone. Można było spokojnie zęby sobie na nich połamać.Naleśniki po przygotowaniu leżały 10 minut za ladą i stygły. Jedynie co było na + to ryba i Pani obsługująca, która naprawdę miała pełne ręce roboty. Podarowaliśmy sobie szarlotkę Woleliśmy wyjść. Ogromne rozczarowanie.

Really tasty, homemade polish cousine at affordable prices. The half of roast duck I had reminded me of my grandmas home. Nice atmosphere and pleasant decoration. Lovely helpful staff. I will be coming back every time I will be in Leicester and definitely, wholeheartedly recommend to anyone to visit and try it out. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Bardzo smaczne jedzenie i miła obsługa. Porcję są duże, ceny niewygórowane. Możliwość wzięcia jedzenia na wynos. Zdecydowanie polecam strogonow i placki po węgiersku.

Weszliśmy do środka, spytałem czy jest menu to w odpowiedzi usłyszeliśmy nie. to przepraszam ja mam się domyśleć co jest? Skąd mam wiedzieć co podają w restauracji skoro nie ma menu. Spytałem wiec co jest a pani wymieniła niechętnie 4 potrawy dodając ze jeszcze trochę barszczu zostało. Paskudne podejście do klienta.

This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint at all. Only managed one visit, so will have more to say about the food later. Otherwise first impressions the food was amazing, well priced with generous portions. First time having Polish dining, and didn't know what to expect. Otherwise, flavors profiles seems to be more hardy, a winter flavorful bothy meals to warm you up. Lots of flavors enhance with herbs. Seating wise, not too many tables, but enough as traffic was fair for those eating in. Seemed more people order takeaway. But regardless, fun and cool interior space, contemporary rustic decor. Good for family and friends, the host at the time, was pleasant and very accommodating. Highly recommend a visit for those wanting to try something different in Leicester.
