Spice of Mull in Argyll & Bute

Absolutely delicious take away tonight. We had Chicken Tikka Balti Rogan and chicken tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. The chicken was so well cooked, proper tikka recipe. Everything was so good - highly recommended.

Unfortunately there was little variation between the two vegetarian dishes we had. Mostly onion and potato. Paratha was not at all flaky and the nan was rubbery. Really couldn’t eat much of it.

We spent a very pleasant evening in this fantastic Indian restaurant situated in the heart of Tobermory. We had two gorgeous dishes if chicken with a delicious sauce. The staff was absolutely efficient and quite friendly as well. The prices we were charged were very reasonable. We very strongly recommend this restaurant whose atmosphere is quite relaxing. The food was disappointingly bland, with no salt and completely lacking in flavor.

Excellent meal, really enjoyed each of the dishes we ordered. Only 4 stars as £6.50 for a pint of orange and lemonade is a bit steep. Would go back again.

Good Indian restaurant and take away. Open all year. Evenings in the winter and lunch & evening during the tourist season. They do have thai/Chinese items in the menu but for the last couple of years it has only been Indian food.

We were there around lunchtime on a Friday at the end of September. When we entered the restaurant there were no other guests and the waiter wasn't exactly happy to see us.

Absolutely fantastic food give this place ia try instead of the usual pub food you won't be disappointed I promise and it's not overly expensive either 👍🍺

Fitted us in on a busy evening. Able to cater for vegan and gluten free vegetarian with ease and a choice of food available including lightly spiced.

The food was very good, the service very friendly and very attentive, even the table next to them asked for mayonnaise and instead of saying they didn't have any, they went to the supermarket next door to buy some.

We can't afford to eat out often, but when we do, the Spice of Mull is a real treat. We love their food, and they are always so welcoming and friendly, especially to our young daughter.

The choice was extensive and I think I heard a couple of other diners vary what was in the menu without any fuss. The food arrived very quickly was piping hot and very tasty.

The food was fabulous. The owners were extremely friendly and we had loads of laughs with them. They were very conscientious of customer service. Portions are generous and value for money was good. Give them a try.

Despite the restaurant filling up quickly after we came service was not impacted and everyone was served promptly and seemingly without any unreasonable delay. It was refreshing to have an alternative food choice too compared to very similar menus from other establishments too.

Visited Mull enjoyed this food so much we did it twice on our two days food devine fresh fresh fresh bit of an Indian foodie so bit critical but nothing to complain 😋

Over all ok . Especially for Asians ( Indians ) after a tired trip without home food. I tried a few items, duck was too hard and rest they said it's biryani but it's not 🤷🏻‍♂️..it's just a for fried rice with frozen meat ..well concluding with a thanks to the staff for the food ..

Ordered an assortment of meals for 11 of us. Whilst staying in Tobermory. Every dish was delicious. Will definitely use again. Staff were very friendly. They even gave us free poppadoms. Vegetarian food was delicious and sometimes we have struggled with edible Vegetarian foods.

Great restaurant where you can eat very good Indian, Chinese or Bangladeshi cuisine, at a very competitive price with a great view of the port. The dishes are copious and excellent, the discreet service efficient and fast. A very good address.

I love Indian food. This is a great place. Friendly staff and a great view from the window over the bay. But most importantly. The food is beautifully spiced, has a good heat and not heavily sugared. Love it. Highly recommend.

After a 6 hour journey by motorbike all I can say is it filled a hole . The food was certainly not worth the money All I got was a curry , nan bread and poppadoms and it was £29 for just 1 person and that is without chips or rice . If I was ever in mull again I think I will bypass this place

We can't afford to eat out often, but when we do, the Spice of Mull is a real treat. We love their food, and they are always so welcoming and friendly, especially to our young daughter. The only problem is convincing ourselves to try something new on the menu and not ordering the same delicious thing we had last time!

Waited over 1hr 45mins for our meal, it was blamed on how busy it was but there was only 4 other tables in the building

I can't recommend this place enough. Very friendly staff, efficient service and absolutely amazing food. I ate there two nights in a row and if I had another night in Tobermory would've definitely gone back for a third. Very good flavours and fresh ingredients. Honestly one of the best Indian restaurants that I've been to in Scotland

Very nice curry house on the sea front. We were starving and the food was excellent. Most places had closed already so very lucky this place is open later than most. Great service and friendly team thank you. Recommended if you happen to be on the island.

Very good restaurant to have Indian food

Website says open 7 days a week. Came on Sunday for day trip visit. Sign in town saying 3 course meal for £7/7.50 at 12-2pm. Waited 40min from 11:40-12:20. Called several times. Nobody answered. Restaurant never opened. :/

The food here is excellent and the portions generous. I live in East London and regularly eat out on Brick Lane, so know my way round a curry. However... the toilets are grim! All the contect points seemed clean enough, but they are in a really really bad state of disrepair.

Nine of us on a day visit to Mull had a very disappointing lunch. The one waiter was rude and refused at the end of the meal to provide a receipt giving several barely comprehensible excuses as to why he couldn’t. Despite advertising to the contrary only Indian/Bangladeshi food was available ....”.the Chinese chef wasn’t in “ he said. Two of the original group who wanted to order Chinese food said that they didn’t like Indian food to which the waiter shouted “if you don’t like Indian get out!”. Those two guests left and went elsewhere angry with the waiters rudeness. As for the food it suffered from an excessive use of red and yellow colour additives and the food was bland. When asked about the non arrival of chapattis the waiter said “ chappatis not working” and laughed. We never did get them and not being given a receipt when requested for one I don’t know what we were charged for. Both the ladies and gents toilets were smelly, unclean and grubby.' I have awarded just one star because I a unable to award 0. My advice, find somewhere else to eat.

Average meal, service was ok till the minute they took our plates they said the seats were booked . We hadn't even finished our drinks . They never mention it at the booking . So told them to wait 5mins . Attitude changes. The toilets was disgusting ,only woman's were working. Also falling apart . When we left we said good night and the waiter ignored us . Shame as we were going to take a big party there in the next month . Would not recommend it .

Mediocre curry, very overpriced. The staff saw tourists and made the price up as they went along. Make sure you’re near a toilet after you’ve eaten, you will need it. Restaurant toilets have mouldy red carpet, broken loos and no toilet roll.

Literally just vomitted on the way back from Tobermory to Oban to catch our ferry. Pulled up by the side of the road and emptied my guts. My partner had food that wasn't cooked all the way through. As other reviewers said the only option was indian food and not Thai or Chinese. The toilets we're out order. Both the men's and women's. Said 3 courses and only got 2. Will be reporting to public health as made us both very sick. Also another table that was there complained they had been given food with gluten in after asking what was gluten free on the menu and the waiter had the gall to complain about them to us. I don't like leaving bad reviews but the food really turned both of our stomachs but hey at least we threw it up before our long car ride home. This place is NOT ascoiated with the spice place in Oban. We ate there and it was divine, unlike spice of mull.

Went for the advertised £6.99 ph lunch-time meal advertised on the board outside, only to be billed for £9.99 ph! The three course ended up as a two- course meal, - a starter and main - as we were never offered a sweet! What we were served was delicious. 'Tourist' we might have been, but we should not be the objects of a 'rip-off'.

Overpriced garbage. £69 for two currys, 4 beers a naan bread and chicken pakora. Ordered a mixed biriyani (prawn, chicken and lamb), pretty sure there was only lamb in it and it was chewy and tough. The batter for the pakora was soggy and off-putting. Presentation of the dishes was also pretty horrendous. Basically a tourist trap that gets away with selling garbage because it was the only place open for food post 8pm (it was Sunday). Staff were a bit overbearing and unpleasant and seemed annoyed we didn’t finish our food. Don’t plan to be back. Not surprised it was rubbish as I’ve been to Tobermory quite a few times and theres never anyone in it

We went to the spice of Mull on the recommendation of a local who said the food was pretty good. He wasn't completely honest because the food was excellent!! Staff were very friendly and helpful and the Kingfisher was suitably chilled. Our 0nly negative comment would be. Get the loos smartened up guys.(They were not dirty I hasten to add!) But appearances matter, even in the toilet!! Would we recommend this restaurant? Absolutely!!

Barely ever leave reviews but definitely an occasion i feel it's deserved. Extremely fun, happy and interactive staff. Food was no less than spectacular, and arrived quickly. Someone else said they didn't come to Tobymory for an Indian and i must say i had the same thought. No regrets though.

A tourist trap, avoid. One of the worst indian dishes we had in a while. Mean staff. They informed us of the increased price when we were sitted as "everything goes up".

Visit Mull every month or so to stay with my girlfriend, love the island and the local food. However when visiting spice of mull for a few light dishes, we were jumped upon by the staff giving us options of what to drink, and were disappointed when the answer was not alcohol. When we ordered, we were promptly informed by the waiter “fish and chip bar open, not busy” as he walked away in disgust. The rest of our visit to Spice of Mull we were treated more like time wasters than paying guests, when trying to get the staffs attention while making direct eye contact, they would ignore and walk away. Would not recommend, also they claim to be a Chinese and Thai restaurant as well but were only serving food from the Indian section of the menu

Food was okay, didn't come to Tobermory for an Indian but it was a bank holiday and most other places were closed or full. There were 2 members of staff, one was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The other looked like he wanted to be absolutely anywhere else. At one point he was walking towards our table and then just turned dead around and walked off. Would recommend as a takeaway but wouldn't sit in.

Rang up to double check dogs allowed in! Reassured, yes! Arrived and walked in, the look we got was off total shock, you would thought I dragged in a sealion wearing a pair of knickers. Didn't even sit down, very rude. Tobermory is a beautiful place but avoid going here.

Pleasant staff but a dreadful curry. Maybe I was unlucky but it had so much chilli in it it was borderline inedible. Hot doesn’t need to be so unsubtle. Staff didn’t seem to take my comment onboard as at the same time an unruly customer (the kindest way of describing him) seemed to preoccupy them and they didn’t do anything constructive about that either. Buy hey, try it for yourself! Three of my other four friends were equally disappointed, not least of all with the steaks which were truly dreadful. Bottles of beer were £4.00( for info only)

Wasnt expecting to find an indian resturant in a fish town. But randomly went in at lunch time for their lunch menu as everywhere else was mobbed. They didnt serve chinese only indian food which was no biggy. But the food was ace and good value for money. Slight communication problems with the waiter but worth a visit :)
