Very poor service. Very rude Waiters food was good Not. Even offered coffee very disappointing

Just simply the best Indian food in the area

Wonderful meal on the occasion of my 49th wedding anniversary. Superb food in a stylish and comfortable atmosphere.

I guess they only tailor to white people. As a brown person I was discriminated by my own people. Told order was too low for card payment…. Regardless of amount its a legal tender. A white male got his collection order given and very kidnly the door was opened by a member of staff. I was handed my bag and thats it lol.

It's a very good restaurant. One of the best, if not the best, Indian restaurants I have ever been to. The food is excellent quality. Delicately and subtely spiced with plenty of flavour. The portion sizes are of a good. We ordered the Spice of India special and Chicken Rezalla. Both of which I can thoroughly recommend. The accompanying sag, bhajis, and naan breads were all cooked superbly. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. The staff there were polite, attentive, and professional. It was a very pleasant experience, and I would definitely go back.

We was in the area friday night ..we didnt have a booking .but they had a table .it was very busy .food was good .but potion size could have been better. Drinks not cheap.food was in some dishes lacking flavour.

Why why why will they not take take a card when you are ordering a big meal for eight that came to £109 pounds….well we all know.They refused to deliver to us unless we paid cash.So ok I agreed and asked for a VAT receipt (didn’t need one) and they said they could not provide one.Then said if I pay cash they will give me an extra 5% off…well we all know why don’t we. Food should have arrived in 1hr……took 1 hr and 25 mins……and was average.It just upsets me when I know why they will not take card.

Good food Good service We weren't on the best table but we didn't ask to move we got offered a new table when they had more space. I'm not the biggest curry fan but would deffo deffo return here. Best curry I've had locally

Great restaurant with delicious food, good range of curries with very friendly and welcoming staff. The restaurant has a very friendly atmosphere with great service. Have eaten in the restaurant and had take way, both are excellent.

Won’t be coming back I am afraid . Restaurant cold asked for heating to be turned up but no response . Food luke warm . Used to rave about the place but won’t be anymore ! Asked whether I wanted a drink on the house and asked if I could have a coffee as I was driving .. I was refused point blank no I could only have a liquor WOW talk about how to make your customers feel welcome . Well I am sure I can find an Indian who can provide me with better customer service and a WARMER welcome

I had the fish dish that was horribly overcooked, and i had to tell the staff as they didn't ask why i hadn't eaten it, then ask twice that it be removed from the bill. All other dishes were bland, despite asking for a side dish to me madras heat

Recently visited on a Saturday evening for my wife's birthday, food was great and the service was superb.

I found this Indian a couple of years ago and since then, it has been my favourite Indian. The food is always amazing with a great range of options and is never greasy like other Indians I’ve had. The service is brilliant and we always feel welcome whenever we visit. Would highly recommend to anyone 👍

I thought we’d try this place out , because I’ve eaten in the cafe next door and this place looks interesting . It’s decorated very swish for an Indian restaurant if you know what I mean , with expensive looking bits and bobs on the table and lighting which gave it a bright and fresh look . The music was very serene piano concerto which I enjoyed not because I particularly like piano music , but it made an impression in a restaurant . Before we get on to the food the toilets are nicely decorated as well and spotlessly clean ! Only one thing left the food . Gorgeous! Even our keema naan was fluffy not greasy . Top marks all round . Faultless

Food in general was OK but the vegetable samosas were so dreadful they prompted me to write this. Two tiny, perfectly shaped (obviously bought in, probably frozen), undercooked and tasteless offerings, so not worth the money. I've honestly never had a worse samosa in my life even shop bought ones are better.

6 of us with 2 guests from India ( who can tell authentic indian cooking ) enjoyed a great night in October. It is now our go to restaurant for a good piping hot meal and great atmosphere.

Food always piping hot. Waiters are so friendly and attentive. Starters and main, plus bottle of wine for two people is still only about £50. They always make you feel like family.

Visited Spice of India many times when they were in Grays, Essex, then they sold this restaurant. After finding this location for Spice of India, have visited three times in the last month. The staff, food, service and restaurant is second to none. Definitely recommend, you will not be disappointed!

Was recommended by a very good friend. What a total disappointment. The food had no flavour at all. Extremely plain and boring. This place definitely had NO flavour whatsoever I’ve had better tasting sandwiches. To anybody wanting to go to this restaurant please DON’T waste your time or money. The only good thing about it was that it was clean inside and welcoming.

I would suggest that James, who described his meal as the 'worst food ever' must have gone to a different restaurant.. My wife and I have visited The Spice of India many times and have never been disappointed. On this occasion we went on their Banqueting Night (Wednesday) and paid about £20 each, including drinks. The mixed starters we had were superb, my lamb jalfrezi was full of delicious meat and flavoursome. My wife enjoyed her lamb biryani. The portions are good. The service was efficient and the waiters polite and friendly. It was outstanding value. As someone who has eaten curries in many places, the meals here rank among the best

Great place to eat, great food, great service and one of my favourite restaurants.

I would avoid this place at all costs I ordered 2 dishes which were described as currys " definitely not " the 1st was a prawn curry that was totally tastless and a complete watery mess, the second was a chicken curry which the should of supplied an angle grinder to cut through the chicken as it was that hard the rice was cold and could of used the nann breads as Frisbee's. My advice is if your in the area and want a curry go to the tesco across the street and get a king curry pot noodle it will be way more tasty than their pathetic attempt.

Visited for early family meal. Food was great (apart from popadoms which tasted stale). However, we had the most miserable waiter ever! He didn’t smile once and was borderline rude! Not impressed and will give it a miss in future.

Great food that is well presented by friendly but in some cases over attentive staff, we were asked if we wanted extra drinks by four different waiters! Key issue is table sizes and layout, tables for two are just too small and spoil the dinning experience, add in the close location to other tables and it can be difficult to hold down a conversation without sharing it with other diners, likewise it’s impossible not to over hear others conversations. In summary great food, friendly staff, good parking but let down by the table sizes and layout.

Ask for Delivery less than 2 miles away Took my order and then announced it was out of the Area for Delivery . Why Advertise Delivery if they cant be bothered Never mind... Cranham Tandoori delivered without a problem Definitely wouldn't visit after the ignorant owner gobbed off on the phone when I asked their reasoning behind their limited delivery poor poor service

Takeaway menu for spice of India in cranham RM14 1xj open 6pm to 11.30 Sunday to Thursday. 6pm to 12am Friday Saturday. Average wait 45mins weekends 50mins to a hour.

After 2 previous visits when my partner & I enjoyed the food & service we were very disappointed by our visit on this bank holiday Monday. It was very galling as we'd been singing the restaurant's praises to her daughter & she and her family accompanied us on this occasion. The starters & poppadoms were acceptable but all the mains (generally traditional curries) were very bland and uninteresting, could make better myself. The service was rather slow, we were one of the first parties in but it seemed to take ages to bring drinks then starters & finally mains. I also found the service somewhat aggressive & brusque (you should really let your customers leave before you change the tablecloth, making them move all their stuff to allow you to do so is rather rude & not diner friendly!). Another one off the list!

Lovely clean restaurant with friendly attentive staff. Food was excellent and plentiful with lots of king prawn rather than 8 gallons of sauce and find the prawns you get elsewhere. Looking forward to going back. Get mango lassi on the menu though !

This restaurant appears in the TA listings as the best Indian restaurant in Upminster & ,having visited for the first time, I am left wondering why.The welcome was friendly and efficient so a good first impression.Drinks and the usual poppadoms arrived in a timely manner also.I personally found the menu to be uninspiring & rather limited,but I know from experience that a limited menu can be a good thing, as a few dishes well prepared is preferable to many average dishes.We had a slightly longer wait than is usual, for our main courses,but nothing excessive .My wife and I found out North Indian chicken dish to be bland with none of the spiciness expected from this dish.Our side dishes were also severely lacking in flavour and rather disappointing.As mentioned,the staff were friendly and the premises were clean & modern & if you are new to Indian food you may well enjoy an evening here.If however you are a seasoned ruby lover, and you judge a restaurant on the quality of the food, then you might want to look elsewhere.

You definitely have to book in advance at this very busy curry house. Despite how extremely busy it was, the food and service was excellent. Choose off the specials list rather than the usual suspects for something different but just as tasty.

When I phoned to book the restaurant for dinner they asked me if it was for a celebration, I said that it was for my birthday. When we arrived there was “happy birthday“ table confetti, a happy birthday banner and balloons on the wall where we sat. I thought that was a very nice gesture. I didn’t recognise any of the staff as I haven’t been for a long while.

First time visit. The food is great and nice quality also good value. Service was good very friendly. Would go again.

Superb Tandoori mixed grill last night, not my usual dish but really tasty. Just had mushroom bhaji with it and it was great.

Having eaten at the Spice of India on a number of occasions we held a curry night for a group of 41 to remember a deceased friend. We chose the set menu night which is great value.

I went here with my partner last friday, you need to reserve a table as they are very busy. The food was great, very well priced. The staff were very attentive and always asking if everything was ok. I will return one of the best gems of Upminster. Loved it !!!!!

Food fabulous, staff friendly, one of the best restaurants in the area. We visit here at least once a month, well worth a visit.

We have been coming here for years with both family and friends. The staff are so welcoming and attentive and love to welcome regulars. The food is delicious and contemporary and presented beautifully. They can cater for special diets if you ask - my friend is vegan and they could do him most stuff by using oil instead of ghee. I’d come every week if I could!

Arrived at 7.30 and the restautant was empty. Within a short space of time it was packed which is always a good sign.

Visited for a family birthday. Six adults and three children. The food was excellent, service great and it didn't break the bank. One adult was gluten free and there was a good choice available.

I celebrated my birthday here with my daughter and friends. They had decorated the table with birthday items that my daughter had given them in advance. Food was great and staff attentive. They brought out a lit birthday cake at the end and even gave me a present!

The food is superb, flavour, colour, smell. One of the best in East London and I’ve eaten in many! Service is great, really friendly and attentive. On a Wednesday they do poppadom, starter, main, side and rice/nan for £12:95!!! Unbelievable value, book ahead and you won’t be disappointed.

We booked our table a couple of hours before we wanted to eat,when we arrived it was packed but still only had to wait five minutes for our table to be ready.The dishes we had were presented excellently and they tasted just as good.We would definitely recommend paying a visit.

Went here on a Saturday night with a friend. We arrived at 7.15pm and by 8.10pm had eaten, to say we were rushed is an understatement, they couldn't get us off the table fast enough! We hadn't even quite finished eating, but having dared to put my knife and fork down briefly to have a drink, the waiter swooped on us and took everything away even though there was some food left.

I have eaten here several times and every time the food is great. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable and the atmoshpere is very friendly. It is a great place to eat for couples, family etc.

Rang for a table at short notice this afternoon and was delighted to secure one given the restaurant’s rating. Upon arrival the place was almost full with a great atmosphere. We were seated in a small booth which was perfect for chatting despite the ambient noise. Served with drinks almost immediately (Cobra & Kingfisher on draft - bonus!) but not pushed to order which was nice. Once we did order, the waiter was knowledgeable and helpful, recommending the evening’s special, which my better half thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered a starter that wasn’t on the menu but it arrived without fuss and was delicious - as was my main. Very reasonably priced, with great food and service to match - what more could you ask for?!

Ate in restaurant always delicious food. We use as takeaway too never disappoints delivered hot & fresh.

For once I've found a restaurant that doesn't add sugar to sauces! The waiter was very helpful when I explained I am diabetic. Absolutely polite staff and amazing food. I have a half Indian daughter so I get a lot of proper, authentic food cooked for me, and this came very close to it. There is ample non restricted car parking on side streets. It is a bit in the middle of nowhere but absolutely worth staying sober for in order to drive. I would definitely advise booking as it was rammed.

This Indian is hard to beat, consistently good food and service, wide range of dishes. Always a pleasure to eat here.

As the Dartford crossing was closed Madame and m went for a bit to eat nearby until it would reopen again.The Spice of India was recommended by someone in the pub we first went to.I had one of the the bet Tandoori chickens ever. And a large one too.Madame's food was excellent too as was the starter.And the service was impeccable.Whenever we're in the neighbourhood we will definitively go there again!

We had a family gathering and all like Indian dishes so we ordered a variety of take away for all tastes.....there wasn't a disappointed face to be seen.All of the dishes were expertly prepared in the traditional fashion.....all so flavorful as to keep everyone wanting for more.

The food at this restaurant is really authentic Indian food. The staff are attentive and really efficient. Booked this restaurant on a Friday night 8pm as we had a relative over from Canada. The food was excellent. We were not rushed and the waiter did a combination of starters for us all to share which were excellent. The main courses were very good and were plentiful. I would recommend this restaurant to all.

This restaurant is very clean and we were impressed with the decor. We only had a takeaway which we found very tasty and unlike some Indian meals the dishes were not greasy. Would recommend trying the food here.

Came here on Valentine's Day with my partner, we used to use this Indian a lot before we moved out of Essex. We chose to come on valentines, as we assumed it wasn't set menu. When we arrived we realised it was only set menu - I wasn't too happy... until the food turnt up! It was AMAZING!!! I've never eaten anything different to what I know and it was nice to eat some specialities. Thank you so much! Beautiful food and service!

On our recent visit I was not sure what to order, so the waiter recommended a dish and changed the sauce so it was not too hot for me and it was perfect! The presentation of the food is so thoughtful. This is my favourite Indian Restaurant!

We ate here with our teenage children and it was a pleasure from beginning to end. The head waiter has excellent customer service skills right down to the dish he recommended for me which was very tasty. The whole family enjoyed the food and the friendly atmosphere. Very nice decor also, good for a special night out.Highly recommended.

Found this had high rating on trip advisor so went with 3 friends. I don't always eat all my food but on this occasion did. The food was very tasty. The staff was nice and helpful. When wanting a Indian again my friends and I would definitely return. Would advise booking beforehand.

Would of got 5 stars but warm beer and attitude of one of the staff....Was told about this place and so we went along with open mind and the food was forst class i must say but was served a warm bottle of lager and when i asked for a cold bottle was told ' they only just gone in fridge so of course there warm ; he then said did you want to put ice init i said no but cannot drink that ... he said ok grabbed the bottle and knocked the galss over in his rage .... hopefully this was a 1 off because the food was good and the place clean .... will visit again

On TripAdvisors recommendation visited this restaurant alone (when working locally). Free parking opposite. Fine menu. Assured service. Excellent food. Worthy of its number 2 ranking. The owner proudly displayed his new BMW outside. Clearly good margins in curry in these parts...

A great, contempry restaurant with great food and atmosphere. Robin who runs it is always the perfect host whether you go as a couple or a group of 29 as I did today. Ask for the foil swan for main course; delish!

FAULTLESS! I have been here many times before and will continue to do so. Went for the Wednesday £12 per head buffet and the food was sublime and the service was top notch. There is only one Indian worth visiting and this is it.
