Always lovely food hot and fresh cooked

Roast duck Cantonese style, didn’t look like what we expected, had a really bad smell so we threw it away. Reported to restaurant and the lady on the phone had a few giggles about it. No refund was offered - in this day and age we cannot afford to throw money away. Live & learn

Our go to Chinese. Never had better anywhere in UK. Amazing food, great staff, very polite. The beef king po, beef Cantonese are my favourite dishes, although the curries are epic too. The salt and chilli chips are next level

Chicken satay skewers Salt and pepper crispy chicken and Chicken Chow Mein perfectly cooked 10/10

We ordered and had to wait 50 mins for delivery but no problem to us. Our food was excellent. Chicken & sweetcorn soup, crispy duck, 3 mains, chow mein, rice & chips side dishes. Delicious.

Ordered from here as the chinese I usually from was closed on a monday, Ordered sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and egg fried rice, portions were tiny, chicken was hard (looked like the chicken you get in the chicken balls, not nice soft breast pieces) and bland, sorry, won't be using this chinese again, giving extra star for delivery time otherwise would be 1 star

Have to say we received the BEST chinese food we'd ever eaten. Starting with the chicken & mushroom soup, amazing. Chicken balls fresh real chicken + sweet sour source amazing. Chicken curry + rice yummy, but the best dish of all pork chowmein, can't wait to order next meal, please don't miss out!!!

Reviewed twice or more last year as so good. Tonight disappointed. What’s happened ? Ribs greasy with a coating. Fillet steak Cantonese meat lovely sauce so sweet. Worst ever had. Quality of meats really good. Chicken & sweetcorn soup lovely. Wonder if changed hands.

Takeaways have for many years been really good but ours last night was excellent. Ordered by phone to be delivered. Not sure what the delivery cost is. Our food was hot, fresh and very tasty. Also extremely friendly lady who took our order. Will be back soon

Always been the best in Mansfield

Spent £40 on food all main dishes came in a small containers and every meal was over powered with salt wouldn’t recommend at all and to top it off told 35 min for collection yet was sat waiting another 30 minutes when I got there very disappointed

I’ve read some of the reviews on here and have to say we can’t recommend this take away highly enough. It’s very local to us and we know the owners. Always been friendly towards us in and out of the shop and the food has never let us down. Very enjoyable meals and we always have a massive one when family come and they also comment on how nice it is. Hope everyone reading this finds the same as it’s a great take away!

We'll have been going here for over 20 years and this is the first time I have had a bad meal,ordered egg fried rice,it was so gloopy and tasteless not one bit of egg to be found. You could have stuck the wallpaper up with it. Always been amazing before. Ruined our valentine meal.

We have had take aways from Spice of Canton for many years. Our last 2 meals of approx 6 dishes each have been excellent quality, well cooked & very tasty. Always enjoy our meals.

Lovely food and friendly owners

Very disappointed with our meal on Saturday eve. We ordered mushroom fried rice but the mushrooms were well and truly off. They had a very soft and slimy texture and very strong taste. The crispy duck was not at all crispy like usual but our other dish was great. A shame as it has put us off this takeaway now.

I dont get the rave reviews. The food was fine if you like very salty. The prawn toast was soggy with oil. The mixed veg was mainly celery which i personally dont like. I hadnt been here in about 15 years and i dont think ill go again unless it changes hands

Food I order is always good but I just had beef with spring onions and ginger with Singapore rice noodles and I've got to say it's the best meal so far. The veg was clearly fresh and cooked just right and the beef was succulent, tender and full of flavour.. The rice noodles were really lovely. One of my favourite choices. So, thanks guys. I really enjoyed that. It was a reasonably priced treat for the weekend.

We used to go here regularly ( in spite of the surly attitude ) , went downhill a couple of years ago ! Decided to try again last week and was really fresh and tasty ! Different story this week ,everything tasted stale the starter platter was awful and very expensive ! Egg fried rice had brown bits of egg ,Singapore noodles was just full of bits of awful meat ! Will not be going again !!

Just had the worst meal ever no taste all chemical not one bit of cooking done... Rubbish....

We have been going for many years, always a good meal. Noticed recently that when the owners are away, the service really drops. We have asked for our money back & gone next door twice now when having arrived to pick it up at the time ordered, we have had to wait over 20 minutes, and they weren't even busy. On both occasions, when we asked, it was clear that they hadn't started cooking it. Won't bother again when regular owners aren't there.

Dropped into the spice of canton for the first time as our local is in kirkby and was surprised at how expensive the menu was! We settled for a set meal for two, plain chow mien and a portion of chips between 4 of us which came to £23.90 which seemed pricey compared to our around £20 with far more dishes included and go around us all happily! We waited 5 mins just for the man which I presume was the owner to emerge out of the back even thought the shop had only one man waiting, and asked if it came with 1 large rice or 2 standards of which he said one in a insulting tone! My mum said well our local normally comes with two which is why we asked, then the gentleman decide to rant to us about his rent fees and his staffing costs and his tax amount and how our local can’t surely pay tax or be legal to be giving us so much food for so little prices and how we would need to buy more food to feed 4! It felt like he was trying to belittle us of which I certainly don’t appreciate and kept ranting for about 10 minutes about things if I’m honest I don’t really care about I just found it expensive for not much food! After 20-25 mins we got our food to see a small bag full! The noodles were string thin and not a traditional plain chow mein, the s&s chicken was the smallest chicken balls I’ve ever seen and consisted of mostly peppers the sauce had spilt all over the bag and rest of the food and barely fed us all! As I first time customer I feel I may have come back for a second chance if his his attitude wasn’t so awful! Definitely won’t return! Il stick to Mr Chans In Kirkby!

Food very very average - Not flavoursome and full of cheap onion and peppers to bulk it out & not a mushroom in sight! Chow mein - Noodles awful - if I'd wanted burnt thin noodles id have asked for them! Extremely poor value for money and the wait ridiculous, same rude moaning chap on counter and cooking and his customer care none existent - would not recommend and won't be going back again ever!

Ordered Bank Holiday Monday. A smaller order this time and we really enjoyed it. Delicious Cantonese fillet steak. All our dishes were excellent. Ready upon collection.

Had food from here for many years. Spent over £60 and the food was poor. Chicken and sweetcorn soup was much too thick as were the sauces in all our dishes. Which made them very unappetising. One of the chow mein had a strong flavour of cooking oil. The waiting area was freezing. Don't understand their system regarding orders. Waiting half an hour when pre ordered by phone is not acceptable. Won't return.

I've been enjoying numerous dishes off their menu for over 20 years, I've never had any cause to complain. For Cantonese food (take-away) these are, in my opinion the best in the area and yes, I've tried most of the others. Gets very busy at times so best to order during peak times and as can be expected at such a popular take-away, expect to wait for food if ordered during peak times though upon asking, they will happily give an idea on how long the wait is likely to be. None greasy, flavoursome dishes with a good menu to tempt you. Parking outside can be a little difficult.

Nos tomamos este lugar por sentado. Pero girar hasta 10 minutos antes de la hora de cierre última noche, al no haber podido ser sirve cualquier tipo de comida en un restaurante cercano, y obtener el típico servicio amable y excelente comida que siempre nos muestra que es siempre el mejor restaurante cantonés en la ciudad. Muy recomendable.

Delicious food. Friendly lady. But cold waiting area! Had takeaways for many years. Never been ill and always delicious. Our daughter loves to have a meal with us from here as no good place in Leeds. Really good.
