Spice n Flavour in Cardiff

A new and pleasant addition to the list of restaurants in Cardiff. Went there to experience proper Peshawari taste and falvours. Menu is full of choice. Had lamb and chicken karahi and Chappal kabab. Amazing service and true taste of food. Will definitely recommend.

Last Thursday, we dined at your restaurant, but unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. We ordered the Chicken Tikka, and it was evident that the chicken was not fresh. Additionally, the Beef Kala Bhuna we ordered did not appear as we expected; it did not resemble the traditional Beef Kala Bhuna. I have attached a screenshot for your reference. Furthermore, we noticed a significant discrepancy between the prices listed on your online menu through Uber Eats and those on your dine-in menu. The price difference was quite substantial, and we are unsure why there is such a large variation. For your convenience, I have included screenshots of both the Uber Eats menu and the dine-in menu for comparison.

I placed an order online for Spice and Flavour. I made my way to the restaurant when it was due to be collected but when I arrived a notice on the door said it was closed for staff training. I never got a refund despite calling several times. I was always told the manager would call me back- they never did.

My friends and I recently went for dinner, and we got exactly what we were hoping for—a delightful culinary experience! The food tasted absolutely delicious, and they have a diverse menu of dishes to choose from. The service was top-notch as well, adding to the overall enjoyment of our evening. If you're someone who loves spices in your food, then this is definitely the place to go—the flavors were just perfect! I would highly recommend anyone to give this place a try at least once. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Very very Very Very disappointing food. I ordered Prawn Biriyani, but it didn't taste like at all, not even through the presentation. I won't recommend anyone to go to this place though they are starving. But still I paid the full bill. Very poor service.

Unsatisfied with delivery , too much delay

Surprised to be told on arrival that they don't serve alcohol but allow you to bring your own, so popped out to get 4 bottles of cobra, to be charged £1.50 per bottle "corkage". 2 out of 3 of us really enjoyed our meals, I had the Chicken Jalfrezi and thought the curry was very tasty just the right spiciness. Wife had lamb Bhuna which is her normal choice of curry. She was disappointed feeling that it lacked depth of flavour and the Bhuna sauce had been poured over the lamb so the lamb hadn't taken on the flavour. Portion sizes are massive. Service was over attentive, leaning over to clear plates well we were still eating. I also feel wiping the plates with a tea towel is unhygienic and unnecessary, particularly when the same tea towel was used for everyone's plates.

Fantastic welcome from all the staff this evening for our rugby club Christmas curry. Was a fantastic warm welcome to us all and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. All the courses were delicious and they even brought us some more out. Looking forward to return. Thanks guys

So so glad we ordered from here! Food was absolutely delicious, freshly hot and all generous portions. Staff are welcoming, and the restaurants interior is actually very sweet. Big recommendation, for any meat-eaters, vegetarians or vegans.

Great food, but listing on JustEat didn’t separate types of madras or the side dishes that were all bundled as one without the option to select required dishes. This necessitated a call to the restaurant for clarification. The restaurant were superb in their customer service.

A great experience at Spice and Flavour! The food was delicious and very affordable, and the service was great. Loads of veggie and vegan options! I will definitely be returning :)

The food was decent, but we came in as a party of 15 having pre-booked, and ended up being there for 3 hours. It took 1.5 hours for our starter courses to come, 2.5 hours for our main courses - we had people come in after us, be served way quicker and leave before us even though we ordered within half an hour of arriving. Probably good for smaller parties and staff were lovely but not sure this works for big parties.

Possibly the best curry in Cardiff… The pricing is crazy for what you get and the taste is sublime. This is honestly one of the best curry houses I’ve ever visited.

I picked up food from Spice n Flavour - I was very disappointed with the the portion size of the Paneer Shaslick - they charged me the same as a chicken Shaslick and it only had 6 small cubes of paneer - significantly smaller than other local restaurants. Their online ordering system didn’t work (I didn’t receive a confirmation email - I checked my spam and junk boxes frequently. I also called the restaurant numerous times to find out what was happening with my order and sent a text - when they finally got back to me it was to inform me that the food was ready - which meant that by the time I got to them the food was being kept warm - and had been for quite some time. It needed to be heated up again when I got it home. When I picked up the order I even had to let them know I hadn’t paid online - If I wasn’t an honest person I could have walked out with free food! They said they’d added an extra mint chutney for the inconvenience/mix up - but I ordered and paid for one and typically the Shaslick comes with (usually) salad and mint sauce. There was no salad. The dhal and bahjis (mushroom and bhindi) were also small in size and the mushroom one in particular was very oily. Finally, because the food had been waiting for pick up for so long the raita had separated, was warm and looked truly unedifying. All in all a big disappointment I was looking forward to trying out Spice n Flavour but had a particularly bad and disappointing experience. Truly wouldn’t recommend

I’ve eaten from here before and it was delicious, but today I ordered a set meal for £13.99 and when I worked it out from the menu I found it was cheaper to order separately. I had A lamb byriani with a curry sauce. All I can say is the lamb was tough and hardly any in the rice and the curry was tasteless, I’m sorry to say I won’t be back again.

I love the food here. I would never have curry from anywhere else. Spice N Flavour warms up my cold heart. Thank you !!!!!!!!!

Lovely hot food great flavour too

BEST CHICKEN WINGS IN CARDIFF! - Food came on time and was still piping hot! Chicken wings were out of this world and the best I’ve come across in a long time!! Curry rice and poppadums all tasty too! 10/10 will be coming back!

I’ve ordered chicken wings, a chicken biryani and a lamb biryani. Honest to god, do you even call it a biryani. It’s just cooked rice mixed with some gravy and very few pieces in it. Hardly 4-5 or even less. Just 3 burnt Chicken wings for £3.95. I’ve ordered with salad, salad never arrived. Rice is over cooked. Worst ever food ever.

More of a pepper curry than a spice one, like a Himalaya curry. Bit disappointing in that respect. Staff pleasent enough.

Hidden gem, great food at reasonable prices. Visited a few times with bookings of between 8-20 people and they have been very accommodating.

I’ve ordered from Spice n Flavour on several occasions now, getting my usual - butter chicken and garlic & chilli naan. I’ve always been pleased with their food and service. The food has always arrived warm & promptly (early and on time). Their serving portion are very large too. I’d definitely recommend this place.

This used to be the old kennards snooker Hall. Situated at the top of Richmond Road. Small restaurant but homely all the same . Food was nice , felt a bit awkward as was asked if I wanted to pay a service charge, maybe I'm old school and I usually tip well when the service is good

I’ve been fancying some proper biryani for a while. After trying twice from different places and getting disappointed with the taste, I thought I’d give this place a try, hoping third time might be a charm. I read previous reviews and decided that I should avoid ordering on a busy night or time, and to have the food delivered given how cold the weather is these days. The food arrived on time and was really warm. The delivery ladies was friendly, polite and helpful. The food was alright. For a restaurant cooked meal, the taste was fine. It could have done with more coriander and the rice could have used slightly less water to preserve the texture of the rice grains. The meat could have been a bit juicier. The portions were reasonable. All in all I thought the meal was lacking on the flavour front but it was not a total disappointment probably because I tampered my expectations. I’m not certain I would want to give it another try anytime soon simply because I have my favourite restaurants and I believe I’m going to stick with those. Having said that I think if my favourite restaurant was not an option I would consider ordering from this place again.

Ordered for collection. Mixed biryani, lamb balti, keema naan and samosas. The biryani didn’t come with vegetable curry which it does everywhere else. Shy of meat. The lamb balti was shy of meat too, had 5 small bits. Also the sauce was very tasty but so runny. If they increased the meat size we might of considered coming back.

I usually won't write reviews or give dislikes. We ordered a home delivery. They told will have be delivered within one hour. But not delivered even after 2 and half hours. When we called they are not picking up the call also. Very bad experience. Won't order or dine again

We arrived as a group shortly before closing time. Lovely food, great value and the staff could not have been more friendly, welcoming and attentive. Above and beyond expectation. Thank you.

The food was really amazing. Garlic chicken Tikka is the best dish here I had. Pappodoms were really amazing with nice chutneys. It's worth trying this place. Service was also very good.

Best takeaway in Cardif.Specially all the curies are delicious. I recommended to everyone to constantly try Spice n Flavour . My rating is 10 out of 10. Will take food from Spice n Flavour again and again.

I’m not one to usually complain or write a bad review. But 2 hours since we put an order in for our food to be delivered and still has not arrived. When placing the order, we asked how long the it would be quoting us 40-45min. No doubt the food will taste good, but anything right now would probably taste better. Just be wary when ordering a take out! At this rate, there will probably be another prime minister!

I visited this restaurant first time as per the reviews but my visit was literally not worth full I paid 70£ and waited for 1.5 hours for my food literally very disgusting service from the restaurant staff. And the food was also not at all good. I recommend not to visit the restaurant again. Thank you👍.

On my way to london had a stop to this restaurant where we had a horrible experience. The service at our table was so much slow we received our very late!!! Taste was at par with slow service!!!! Pls be careful others before making a route to this hotel!!!! Thank you!!!!

Incredible food, the flavours were on point with plenty of dishes on offer. They have a fantastic vegan menu and a big menu to choose from. If you like spice, they can accommodate you pallet! I came with my friends for a special birthday and all of the staff were extremely helpful. Friendly and let us play our own music and made us feel at home! 10/10 would 100% recommend!

When I went with my family we were on only people there on a Sunday night. Food was really tasty and fresh. Staff are really friendly. Only down side is the disabled lift was full of boxes and the restaurant is on the first floor, so I had to leave my son's wheelchair downstairs and there was a worry that it might get taken.

I am having dinner right now in the restaurant as I write this review. A lucky random search on google maps!!!! Food is just brilliant, 100% authentic Hyderabadi Indian food. The chef does know his recipes, and all ingredients used were fresh from the stores on the ground floor. Just simply brilliant!!!

So I ordered some food to try out and I have to say I’m in love, it was fresh, you could tell it was made with care and really yummy, I honestly felt right at home first time in 2 years and I got so much nostalgia, now I want to order food from them every week lol

I went to Spice n Flavour for the very first time with my boyfriend for dinner. Lovely, relaxing atmosphere along with polite, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Food was absolutely magnificent, it oozed with flavour with every bite. I will definitely come back again 😃

Food tasted good. But whilst mine was a decent portion, husband got hardly any meat (maybe 2 ounces) in his curry. Complained, but told it was OK as they were 'small pieces of lamb' (not even two mouthfuls). They did knock 10% off the bill without us asking, but then charged £1 above the menu price for his curry, and with a £1 a head 'corkage charge' (they don't do wine, I popped out to Tesco to get some), that made little difference to the total. Just do decent portions and I'd have given 5 stars.

Not going to lie my regular is usually star of Wales bit my son ate from here 3 times in one week as he that impressed he knows his curries vindaloos madras etc me im a mild curry girl don't do hot or spicy so decided to try it with him see what fuss about. Delivery was pretty quick.food was very hot still amazing ..he doubles up lids which is great for keeping hot and non spilling..im funny with chips especially from an Indian cuisine but better chips than star of Wales great and hot ! Rice was amazing also and hot .nan bread was pretty good not as greasy as I like it but also yes you guessed it hot .Nice poppadoms for me I had lamb curry never had potatoes or tomatoes in my lamb curry before ? Luckily I love potatoes and tomatoes so I don't think it spoilt it at all enjoyed it ..the only crtiscm I have is the meat to juice ratio .usually I pour all the juice on as I get a lot of lamb but there is loads more juice to lamb so to avoid my curry swimming left some in container so a little bit more meat would be good better and next point is personal not crtiscm as it still a touch too spicy for me mouth was on fire lol but the actually taste of the curry was amazing ! Truly is a very good Indian who somehow manages to get the food to you still hot ! And that is amazing and rare more meat please 🙏 only a little so ratio is good but would definatly order again looking forward to eating in soon x

Full of flavour in every bite, spices of the curries are so perfect! This place is an easy representation of a authentic Indian restaurant. The chips are the tastiest I've ever had, the food arrived so hot, but ready to eat! And shout out to the delivery drivers, such nice, friendly people!

Fantastic service, price and food. Would highly recommend visiting, a little difficult to find but definitely worth it. I enjoyed the 4 course menu and loved the poppadoms, chicken chat, lamb gunpowder and half and half.

My friend and I dined here tonight. We found the food delicious and beautifully cooked. The owner chatted to us making helpful recommendations, and it was clear he and the other staff took extreme pride in getting things just right for their customers. As a bonus the sofa was the comfiest sofa we’ve ever sat on!

Spice b Flavour was open around 11:00 pm and still serving food. Thanks them for very nice Indian food. We have searched a lot in the area and almost every where was closed. The personnel of the Restaurant were very friendly and we had a real good time there.

If you don’t wanna ruin your taste buds and money, never visit this place. I never gave any reviews good or bad but the terrible experience we had today forced me do that.

I am very disappointed with the food quality who make biryani or pulao with tota chawal broken rice. The lamb was half cooked despite saying that make sure everything is well cooked and chicken was very old and not cooked fresh and the guy who was serving us was very darah hushyar giving us stupid tips and it was very uncomfortable. It is even not worth of one star I paid huge money and got just leftovers. These type of restaurants should learn the lesson from the customers and improve however I am sure the guy things he knows everything because he 21 years of experience despite I made a joke that I have more than 30 years of eating experience. Apart from Joke I will not recommend to waste your money here. My heart is still burning why I paid so much. And then I had to visit an other restaurant to eat. They have serving very less. I cannot imagine that a butter chicken has only 6 small bites of chicken. I wish I would have taken the pictures. Moreover those chicken pieces were stone a human cannot eat. They tried to creat 5 star restaurant feeling but have 1 star services. Please owner try to improve the quality of food and don’t give leftovers to customers who are paying more than normal price.

Love the food here, especially the biryani. Though I would only recommend takeaway for now. There’s room for improvement with the indoor dining experience.

spice n flavour is situated right next door to Sticky Fingers, a true hidden gem, I have lived 2 doors down for almost a year and was always curious to where such beautiful smells were, I only noticed there was an Indian RIGHT next door (being spice N flavour) very recently, so we tried it. The host was incredibly kind and passionate with his foods, excited to know what foods we knew of to find the right dish for us, he was very helpful and down to earth, he brought a great charisma to the place and was very kind. With help from Arif (the host), I tried the goa fish curry because I had never tried fish in curry before (I usually go for chicken tikka masala haha), all I have to say was that it was incredible ! One of the BEST curries I have ever tasted, the fish melted in my mouth while the flavourings from the curry exploded and left a zing on my tongue, a nice subtle hotness and a lot of depth in taste! Everything complimented eachother, the potato dish we tried was called Aloo Gabi I believe, and it was so creamy, and completely tasteful! We will definitely be back, very grateful to have discovered this hidden gem, and excited to visit again !:)

This restaurant is tucked away but is a hidden gem. Great authentic food, very tasty and they live true to their name of spice and flavour. The owner is always well presented and kind, he has great customer service skills. Prices andportion sizes are generous, and the curries are delicious. Make sure you come here and check it out!

Came here with 20 guys for my hockey teams end of season do. Had an amazing night! They were happy for us to read out awards and speeches. The food and service was wicked!

Not good / tasty food at all and high prices

The staff were very courteous and pleasant. However coming from Brum, home of the Balti, we found the food below average. Had there not been a 16 strong party of lads, there would have been no atmosphere and the toilets were unisex, not very clean and in need of a complete refurbishment. We went on the strength of the reviews as visitors to the area, and felt somewhat duped, apart from the comments about staff, because they were lovely.

Really wonderful food, amazing Vegan options, never seen so much choice for Vegans at an Indian restaurant. Had a Vegan beef Korai which was delicious.10/10 service from Arif, who was lovely!

The food and staff were spot on, the staff took the time to talk through the menu and chat to customers about their time in Cardiff. The restaurant was clean and tidy. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced.

Great tasting food without the additives or colourings. Ideally suited for groups of 4 or 5 but staff will accommodate larger numbers if given notice. Great student discount available. Large variety of menu options and good prices. Staff are friendly and engaging. Definitely one for any curry fan.
