Spice Island in Bolton

It’s with heavy heart that I have to say this but I tried something new and went for a kebab tonight and I think Iv got food poisoning as the chicken tasted awful. Spat and thrown the few mouthfuls I had up. Im not even ringing up to ask for a new one because I just can’t believe that this is even sent out to people to eat.

Customer for 25 years. Food used to be amazing. Its still very good but the delivery is always late. Today I ordered at 5pm for a 7.30 delivery. Rang at 7.50 (on way!) and again at 8.25 before it finally arrive at 8.30 - that's 3.5 hours after order. Staff on phone were very short when I complained (OK thanks bye and put phone down). Will not be using anymore. You only have to read the number of delivery complaints to see the issue.

The absolute best Bangladeshi takeaway you will ever find. Flavoursome food, it’s not a surprise it wins countless awards year on year. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. You can order a normal portion or extra large and still won’t be disappointed, plentiful portions. Naan breads are delicious too.

Ordered takeaway meals for 5 people. Spice Island food outstanding. Fresh ingredients, plenty to choose from off the menu and very tasty. Probably the best buryani I have ever tasted and there were only good comments from the rest of the family. Will certainly be going back.

This was a takeaway order. Once again they sent the incorrect order. Several different portions of rice and no main curry. Won’t use them again.

Sick of spending money on food that doesn’t turn up. What turns up is rice. Same old story of we will send a curry! Absolute joke.

Spice Island has been highly recommended to us on numerous occasions, so we gave it a try this evening. Best curry (Chicken Tikka Madras) I’ve had in a long time. Good service, excellent food….. What more could you ask for.

I had a chicken bhuna on Saturday which had no taste. The chicken shashlik had no taste and the chicken was awful. You must of changed chef because we have had brilliant dishes in the past. Hope it gets better

Placed our order online at around 4.35pm Saturday 9th Dec. Stated delivery in 90 minutes. Fifteen minutes after the original 90 minute wait, I called and was told our bill had been lost. If we waited another 40 minutes, they would add something nice to our order, plus charge half price. Completely unacceptable. I have used this takeaway for 18 years. Wont be coming back. Disgraceful.

Really dissapionted with our starters, burnt onion bhajis poppadoms with no onions or mango chutney. All the years I’ve had take away curries and the original popapdoms it’s a first I’ve never had the accompaniments. Well I suppose it’s cuts backs. I won’t be going there again that’s my cut back.

Without doubt the very best curry you'll ever have. Friendly staff, absolutely fantastic food, excellent menu. Over 10 years I've been going to Spice Island, the very best there is!! 👍

Very disappointed. Took my phone order for delivery . then rang my mobile phone 30minutes later to say it cannot deliver due to staff shortages and if I can't collect they will have no alternative but to cancell my order . Well out of order

Best takeaway in Bolton. Both my wife and I are vegan and they provide multiple vegan options, all of which are delicious. We order once or twice a month and they recognise me every time and always give excellent, polite service; always with a smile. We wouldn't go anywhere else for curry night now!

Used them for years ,food has always been great when it gets busy except a wait , once or twice had to phone up a 1hr past delivery time but a apology and some free poppadoms. Over a 20 year period that's awesome 👍. Can't wait for my next chicken Rogan Josh......

Just found my new go to, food is brilliant, this place came highly recommended & didn’t disappoint, even made some adjustments to my order they catered for top tier.

Chicken madras had a strange “chemical” after taste to it me and my partner was really underwhelmed, i think the price being more expensive than other curry places made us think it was going to be amazing and ended up being the worst curry wev ever had, portion sizes are generous but not much good when the curry tasted like it had been cooked with bleach

Best takeaway ever. Delicious high quality food, loads of variety and fresh ingredients. Not your typical curry takeaway- although they do have some more traditional dishes too. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options

We ad a order for new years eve and it was lovely apart from the poppadoms they were a third of the size of the usual ones with bubbles all over and not very nice to eat so we left them , 5his is the first time in over 20yrs something was not right .

Well considering it has great certificates all over the place they can't get a simple order correct I went in I ordered 1 thing a sheek kebab roll with salad and mint sauce I waited 10 mins and got given my food I asked the guy behind the counter if its what I ordered he assured me it was I was charged 9 pound for this on a normal nan bread when I got home it was a chicken tikka kebab not happy atal so I rang them and told them and the guy said he never checked it but if I walk all the way back i can have what i ordered im 15 mins away so I was charged 9 pound for chic on nan the chicken didn't taste of anything the nan was soggy as they come it was worst thing I've seen if they think I will return for my food so they can spit in it before they give it me think again I will never go back there and I will never recommend this place it's all precooked food reheated in woks n pans nothing is fresh

I have been ordering from this establishment for over ten years. Recently the chicken lacks taste and has an odd texture. It's really a review for the chefs to say, please dont boil chicken before using in a curry, it makes it lack taste. Such a shame as there was a time when I would have given them 5 stars all day long.

Great delivery, food is fantastic and plenty of choice, online ordering is spot on, and you get an email with the full order on.

Food never disappoints ! I have tried other places but nothing compares to the quality at spice island. This place will forever be the only place my family go too. Staff are so professional and friendly.

Fantastic food, quality taste, try Chicken Tikka Chilli Masala Balti, spicy but smooth with Cheese Naan. Also try main Seek Kebab, very good with dips and choice of curry sauce.

This place is a cut above the rest when it comes to indian cuisine, food is always delvered on time and the food is stunning. Im lucky to live not to far from this. My favorite is tandoor chicken tika masala. There onion bhajis too are too die for Mike higson

This is the best Indian in Bolton, guys friendly and patient help you with anything your unsure before placing your order. You can pay Apple Pay and card payments quick and easy at the door, personal favourite fresh onion bhajis soft in the middle with a nice sauce. Highly recommend to friends niceone lads

Tried the Spice Island takeaway on recommendation of several friends. On first sight the menu seemed a little more expensive than our usual venue; however this was definitely a case of getting what you paid for. The portions were absolutely immense… 6 popadoms turned out...

Best Indian takeaway in Bolton by far

Ordered for first time after numerous recommendations and have to say as a self confessed curry connoisseur this is the best curry I have ever had, the lamb was so succulent and flavours were amazing, this is going to be my go to take away from now on, ordering on line was easy and quite quick from ordering to delivery. Excellent all round

Ordered food for delivery and spent £49.00. Food arrived burnt and of poor quality. Korma sauce watery. Chips ordered were frozen chips. Naan bread burnt. Won’t be ordering from here again. How someone let that food go out is unbelievable

Ordered five dishes on Friday evening for collection early Saturday evening. Confirmed the phone order and confirmed it was FIVE dishes. Collected sealed box and at home only included four items. First and last time I will recommend anyone to use this place without being very careful.

By far the best curry takeaway in the area. The banquet for two is great value for money considering that it can actually feed 4 people. The chicken is juicy and big pieces which is something that other curry takeaways can’t emulate. There is a reason as to why it has won so many awards

I have been getting my curries from here for a number of years. While the taste and spice level have not been consistent in my regular curry orders, they are still my favourite. Also the amount of oil in their curries can be a little bit too much at times but I still like them.

The food is always good, delivery is alway's ages. You needed to order in advance. So I placed an order at 4.30pm today and the order was accepted for delivery at 6pm, at 5.55pm my order was cancelled, no explanation and I was refunded, I then had to order elsewhere and did not get any food for my family till 7.45 🙃

Absolutely superb food. The staff are very friendly and, even though we're not very frequent customers, soon recognise you. Their onion bhajis are the best you can get - we order multiple packs so we can have some the next day!

Got a Christmas curry from here like we have for the past few years and yet again it never fails to impress we ordered it on Wednesday just to make sure. Everything arrived on time and absolutely fantastic food had a couple of phone calls of them informing me that it may be a little late keeping us well informed and a phonecall saying its due to arrive. The staff are very well mannered and helpful and polite we will continue to use this fantastic curry house for the foreseeable future thanks guys

Never ordering again from this place, I was expected to wait 3.5hrs for a take away, luckily I called after 90 mins as I had no idea when my food was arriving to be told it’s another 2hrs. This isn’t the first time it’s happened,...

You'll find it hard to get a better indian takeaway in bolton good value clean and efficient service

Ordered a few times from here, the food is spot on and much better than generic Indian takeaways. However recently they either take too long to deliver, I.e. nearly 2.5 hours, or they get the order wrong meaning you wait even longer. If you want to eat at 7pm order at 4pm.

However, the food from here tastes great and the currys are quite large portions that could serve two. Would recommend trying this place just be aware that it may take a long while to come.

Love Spice Island, best curry around, ingredients are so fresh and they dont skimp on the portion sizes. Lamb rogan josh is our go to and it's unbelievably tasty. defo recommend
