Great and traditional fish and chip saloon. The oldest in Belfast. Highly recommend trying here, even if you’re not from the area. We travel here from Holywood

Although we're country people my Mum grew up just off the Woodstock Road. Shes an East Belfast girl at heart. After a day out with my wife and Mum we wanted to go somewhere for food...my Mum suggested her favourite childhood chippy...Spence's on the Beersbridge Road. We sat in and it was lovely...the young girl who took our order was polite and friendly...the food was yummy...and watching the local characters interact with the owner was entertaining! I had fish and chips...the chips were home made and perfect...the large portion of fish was very tasty. This is an old-fashioned family run business...I can't recommend it enough...next time we're in the city I'll be back! PS Billy...the taxi tours thing...yes that would definitely work!!

Great place for always freshly cooked chips and Haddock, and a bit of crack with Bill the owner. Sit in on wooden benches like your Grannie used to do.

A well known and popular local chippy, people travel to visit, and has regulars who have been going there for years, I always have the fish and chips, the fish is always fried fresh when you order, surprised at some of the negative posts on here, however guess everywhere can have the odd mishap , I have always been happy pleased with the fish and chips I've had there, and also nice that you can either sit in or take out

It Maybe old but such a wealth of Belfast memorabilia to be had. Traditional Belfast chippy experience. Good craic with older patrons who have been coming to the same chip shop for 60 years or more. Food is great and William knows how to fry a mean fish. No sunflower oil here my friends, food is cooked in traditional way and wrapped in yesterday’s newspapers.

Used to love here, but moved house so haven't been for a long time. Planned to go to the Bethany but went here instead. BIG MISTAKE. 2 Pastie suppers and 2 cans of Coke £10.10. Bad enough but the food was inedible. Chips seemed to be made from cardboard. Pasties were very pink and not solid but very watery and mushy. A few hours afterwards I could still taste and smell the grease! Really disappointed with the standard of food. Seats were very narrow and hard, back was so upright it was hard to get comfortable. Tables were so narrow we couldn't sit facing each other when the meals came, one of us had to shift down. It looks "authentic old style" in the photos but it is impractical. Sorry!

Not a great menu but after all it is a chippy. All food cooked fresh old style with a bit of banter and a smile. Don't go for a chicken burger as they are compressed chicken according to the owner as he talks you out of it, this is s fish and chip shop stick to the classics. Great chips made and sold the way they should be. An absolute treat for an old time classic

This is by far the nicest fish and chip shop! With fish, pasties & chips to die for!! I would love to know if the people whom rated it "terrible" are even human lol!! (obviously due to ordering a chicken burger expecting it to be a fillet burger, when clearly it states NOT CHICKEN FILLET) - THEY'RE FOR THE CHILDREN! DUH. but honestly despite those silly little remarks, it is the nicest chippy ever.. Never disappointed, everything is done freshly in front of you, pasties are homemade, chips and bought as potatoes and peeled and cut freshly.. Not bought in in bags! Trust me guys Spences is the nicest chip shop in Northern Ireland guys!

Went here as it was recommended to me but I can honestly say I will never be back nor will I pass anything positive about it. I passed John dorys and the Bethany to try here and it was shocking in everyway. Ordered a chicken burger supper, paid around £4.80 and received a burger that had NO dressing, a drop of mayo and a processed chicken patty. The chips where horrible, dripping in grease and I also witnessed my burger being microwaved at one point. I couldn't even finish the food I binned it all. Also as it said 'supper' I assumed it was a meal and expected a drink...I was wrong. I could have got better in McDonald's. This place could not be more disappointing, go somewhere and pay the bit extra, at least then you'll be satisfied and get a good feed.

For dinner, my husband and I wanted something cheap and easy, no frills but still something tasty. For the most part, Little Italy Pizza was good. It was definitely cheap and the place was busy when we went in to order (and any other time we walked by). They only do takeaway and we each got a 12" pizza. Because of the very tiny crust and small difference in price between a 9" and 12", we would recommend just getting 1 pizza per adult. They have several different options and my husband said the Sicilian pizza was pretty good. The cheese pizza was good too, but a little dry and could've used more sauce. For the price and convenience it what worth it but not our favorite pizza place.

I don't get why there is an online ordering system where the food is not ready at collection time. 3rd time in a row now. Food is nice but an order for collection at 12.30 should be ready at 12.30. I ask where it is and told to wait a few minutes. 3 people in queue being prioritised over an online order makes zero sense. People in and out quicker than me who ordered in advance. Ridiculous.

Myself, wife and eldest daughter had an appointment in town, she likes fast food and hadn't tried Nandos, in we went. I've always been dubious after experiences of the franchise in London and the portion size along with the cost, but we gave it a go. Even my daughter complained about the same things l did, and she didn't have to pay. The food just isn't worth it for what you get. £2 chicken thighs with a bit of a rub and cayenne salt chips.
