So grateful to have this lovely little bakery in Hucknall. The staff are lovely - friendly, knowledgable, excellent service. The food is simply delicious! The best bread, sausage rolls, cakes. Highly recommend a visit if you are so fortunate to be in the area :-).

Excellent deli offering the best quality foods and drinks, including home made breads, a range of cheeses, meats, various olives, salads, just to name a few. Ideal for treating yourself to a delicious lunch. Also offers a good range of wines and non-alcoholic drinks, plus freshly made coffee to take away (or drink in when COVID ends). In the meantime you can buy freshly ground coffee or coffee beans to take out and use at home. A place full of little delights. Well worth a visit.

Great deli selection, artisan breads and delicious croissants to eat in or take out. Only a small eating area so with Covid-19 restrictions only possible for 2.... It’s great for sour dough and the French stick and boule always impress my friends when I buy them for group get together (of six people of course) The only improvement for me would be if they opened earlier on a Friday, eg 08:00, like they used too. 10:00 opening means another trip down into Hucknall as I like to get to the Friday Market early to get wonderful fresh fish from Jon’s fish store & pick up fresh fruit veg & eggs... Other than that, this bakery is the last in Hucknall now, their bread is fantastic & their staff friendly & knowledgeable!

Absolute Gem of the Hucknall town, cobs, loafs and most of all gluten free!! The jams, Chutneys dipping sauces are most local and organic and personally love going there.

I nipped just for some of their fantastic quiche, but came away with lovely rolls which were baked on the premises. This place is really fantastic for everything.

Lovely sourdough loaf perfect to take home. Bought some locally sourced eggs too. Had a coffee and watched the world go by for a short time. Poached eggs at home with a really deep yellow colour and a lot of flavour. Perfect to sit on top of toasted sourdough toast

Popped in here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of breads for sale. Sat and had a coffee and then bought a cheese scone and slice of cake to take home. Enjoyed them both.

Popped in to buy some freshly baked bread, but also stopped in for a coffee and croissant/pan de cholate. Absolutely delicious and freshly made. The shop has so much to offer as regards breads, being a bakers, but also a tempting range of foods including pates, quiches, fresh olives, cheeses etc. Well worth a visit.

My wife is starting a bakery business so we have been around the best shops in East Midlands sampling their wares. Spelt and Rye was best by a long way, the quality of their product was on par with some of the best bakeries we have been to in France. It seems they are happy to remain a best kept secret as local people were popping in and buying up their bread as soon as it went out in the baskets while elsewhere the local press champions another local bakery whose bread we found substandard. Very highly recommended.

We love this place! We have been going since they opened. The bread is stunning, the croissants are amazing, the quiche delicious, the feta olives divine, the steak pasties like something straight from Cornwall - simply delicious!

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Supermarket bread is all well and good: it's cheap and filling, but I'd forgotten what "proper" bread was like until Spelt & Rye opened up! They bake their bread throughout the day, so there's every chance the loaf you buy is still warm. (Actually, that can be a problem if you want them to slice the bread in the shop; sometimes it's still TOO warm to slice successfully - but it's *proper* bread, get used to it!!) The staff - including Philip, the baker - are always welcoming, and will speak at length about the different breads on offer, if you want to try something different. They will happily take orders for the following day, if they're run out of what you want - a real possibility, which proves how much in demand the bread is! The shop is conveniently located near free (for 1 hour) parking, but closed on a Monday. The shop also offers delicatessen items, such as cheeses, stuffed olives and quiche. You'll probably spend a lot more than you expected to, but you won't regret it!

If you want freshly made artisan bread, pop along to Spelt & Rye. It may be a little more expensive than supermarket bread but real bread doesn't have unnecessary ingredients in it. I just love their bread with a bowl of winter warming soup!

Having recently opened, this take away bakery/deli - selling freshly baked artisan English and French bread including sourdough plus a mouthwatering range of sweet and savoury foods - now offers a menu of freshly made breakfast and lunchtime delights that can be eaten in house, though seating is very restricted - first come, first serve! A good range of drinks are also available from freshly ground coffees to locally brewed beers. Also available is a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options. The small business is clearly managed by people passionate about high quality food. Well worth a visit.
