Great pub lovely friendly staff excellent food and service highly recommended ⭐️

Only called for a quick pint, but very nice.

We hadn't been here in years when we arranged to meet up with friends for the semi final of the FA Cup & we will certainly be back. Wow! What a really warm and friendly welcome from the landlord on entering. He definitely excels at his job. Such a great guy who couldn't do enough for you and ran the bar and pub brilliantly. Beautiful pub inside and out with lots of space outside & a play area for kids and a proper bonus that they sell my favourite Pinot Grigio Jack Rabbit wine. Fabulous atmosphere with proper, lovely, friendly locals in a proper local pub. You can't beat that!

The place was decked out well, the staff were great and the food and drink consumed were of a smashing standard. Worth a visit, I'd say.

Edited review due to change in management. Very friendly welcoming village pub. Very dog friendly and kids are welcome. Good selection of beers and lagers, gins and vodkas. Redecorated and reinvigorated. Food not served but you can bring takeaway in and they have a menu for the local takeaway which is pretty good.

Brilliant village pub great atmosphere great hosts, and lovely beer, really good quiz night on Wednesdays, also has pool table big screen tvs and dog friendly.

Lovely friendly staff who always carry a smile. The food was lovely as always, warm, tasty. Would recommend anyone to come here for a bite to eat.

Good quality food and great service, even down to a dinner for the dog. Still as always great service. Our dog Dexter loves going for his doggy dinner. Still excellent

First visit today to the Spangled Bull, wow it was just wonderful, excellent service, the landlady, greeted us with a very warm welcome, nothing was to much trouble, food was home made and delicious.plus I found some good reading books ,my friend Cynthia and I had a lovely time and will definitely be returning..x

Ordered cheese and onion pie, it came, worst meal I've had in a long time! No vegetarian gravy so it was very dry, soggy pastry! Shop bought & really cheap quality. When I complained staff had shocking attitude, basically said 'What do you want me to do about it'. Avoid if you enjoy good food!

Really nice pub, local friendly environment and the landlady is extremely accomodating. Only slight criticism is food is frozen which is a shame.

This is a nice cosy public house with a good range of beers and spirits for choice, the weekly food menu has the basic selection of meals at present and is well presented. Having spoken to the landlady and giving her a positive feedback, it is their intentions to make the spangled Bull an popular eating establishment. We agree Rome was not built in a day, they intend to build on both the mid-week menu bring further choices of dishes. They intend to expand in time, however, we can say that the Sunday Lunch menu is very popular with locals and a wider clientele, and all of fresh produce, with real home made Yorkshire puddings. The Pub suppprts the local community for which the Pub is extremely keen on doing their bit, ( so to speak), for those around the village of Kirkheaton. Well worth a visit for a bite and a pint. We wish you all the very best for the future, in your developments of your cosy establishment.

First time here for me and my partner for lunch. The service was amazing the staff really make you feel at home, the food was lovely a proper hearty meal. The new chef was very accommodating and served the food with a very high standard! We will definitely be coming back and recommending to our friends and family. Absolutely beautiful food, was delish! Booked a table for the Sunday as part of a Birthday meal out, staff were pleasant and welcoming...even put banners and balloons out for us! Vegetarian options are available and again, very yummy! I am also pleased to see how much they welcome doggies into the setting! Can't wait for the dogs Christmas event!

First time here and very disappointed. Rang to book a table for Sunday lunch but no need as there was hardly anyone in. We both had the roast beef but it was so tough we gave up trying to cut/chew it so left it. The Yorkshire pudding was minuscule. The vegetables were a bag of frozen mixed veg! Didn't say anything as we don't like to complain but may be we should have so they can fix it. Needless to say.... we won't be returning, and it's local to us. Shame!

Delicious food, outstanding service and good prices. The most dog friendly pub I've ever been to. Our puppy had so many treats and cuddles! We loved it here and will be back every time we visit our friends up North. A special thank you from Lupi to the chef for extra beef and sausages 🐕

Been to the Spangled Bull today. We had a very warm welcome from all the staff.The food was excellent well cooked and the presentation was superb. Congratulations to the chef Luke for the meal and also taking the time to come out and speak to us during a very busy time. Lived in the village 15 years and only been in the pub twice and wasn't impressed however what a change this establishment has gone through! What a pleasure to visit now 😌 dog friendly even to the extent of a dog menu which my two dogs loved! We haven't eaten there yet but the customers who were eating there only had good praise for the meals they had👍 we definitely will return.
