The waiter upstairs tonight was excellent. Struggled to have any conversation with friends due to music and quiz. Batter on broccoli tempura and halloumi was undercooked. I like to support local but after my first experience here tonight i would rather dine in another local restaurant I would recommend 1 meze and 1 side or dip. We left enough to feed for another meal for 2/3

Went in after a recommendation from the dry cleaners next door. What a shout that was. Mango chicken was amazing, sharma fries, spiced lamb and a tabbouleh salad. We cleaned the plates 😊 Lovely cocktails ( mocktails for me also fab) and friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

Delicious food and a great atmosphere. The music was excellent and had us singing along. The decor was lovely. Such a nice location to enjoy dinner with friends. We had the sharing special deal which got us 2 mezzo dishes and a side each. Great food and every dish we had was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Been here a few times before and enjoyed the food, something has changed though. Food was ok just over priced. £10.50 for 4 prawns and £11 for one piece of beef rendang. The honey chicken was nice, the flat bread was boring. It was £78 for food and a bottle of house white. Atmosphere was nonexistent, may have been the time of year but we ate and left because it was just boring. Service was ok, friendly enough. We pointed out the squeaky door, hopefully they fix that.

Nipped in here for some lunch for my wifes birthday after having a look at what places were open locally and we were very happy we did. I love anywhere that serves smaller plates for sharing as you get to try a bit of everything and there was a good variety for all different pallets. I would say most of the dishes are medetterian meze inspired and a few of their own takes with certain dishes but the food really was lovely. The standouts for me were the Monkfish Cheek Scampi , Chicken Shawarama fries and the Muhammara , although I do wish it was served with a proper big flatbread instead of large grilled tortilla wrap. Really good drinks menu aswell and they even have Blue Moon on draught which is fantastic and might be the only place in the south of Glasgow you can actually get it. The decor is nice inside and the girl that served us was cheery, polite and attentive considering she was just on herself at lunch. Will absolutely be back for some more dishes soon.

Their social media and signs out front state they open at 11am, yet when my family entered the restaurant we were turned away claiming they didn't open until 12pm - citing new opening hours - despite all of their SM posts saying otherwise. Clearly they couldn't be bothered to serve customers and now we won't bother to return.

Absolutely lovely place for a meal without going into the city centre - cocktails were superb and server Alana was so friendly and helpful with suggestions for my vegan daughter! Will be back!

First time here…yummy food. Had Louisiana salmon and the most delicious sticky toffee pudding …would highly recommend. Staff are lovely.

My second visit and the food is absolutely delicious especially the sticky toffee pudding! This time had lunch time menu and previously had the mezze which was also great. Service was fabulous & I’ll definitely be back again soon!

Enjoyed brunch here recently as food and cocktails were fine. I was disappointed though when we asked for the dessert menu and told that we would have to wait 30 minutes there was a party of 35 upstairs. Get more staff then!! That was enough to put us off going back.

Slightly disappointed that Mezzes were not available until after 3pm. However the brunch we did have was lovely

Lovely venue for my baby shower, the mezzanine was perfect with beautiful decor and atmosphere. The service was flawless and the buffet was the best buffet I’ve ever had, guests all said the same. Thank you to Lello and Robyn for looking after us and their part in such a special day.

Usually come here for the excellent tapas and laid back vibe but sampled the new brunch menu today complete with brunch cocktails and it was absolutely delicious! Service impeccable too.

Went for lunch with nine family members with an age range of 80 years. Something for everyone on the menu! Tapas style meal was most enjoyable with a lot of sharing going on!. nice food , nicely presented.

Go here every week for their Thursday quiz, and every week it's nothing short of exquisite. The food is excellent, the drinks are delicious, what more could you want...Our server Alanna made an excellent night all the better, smiling, chatting and laughing the whole time, and makes such an effort to really get to know the regulars (she knows stuff about me I barely remember telling her!) All in all a famtastic bar I'd recommend to anyone!

No potatoes at 7pm on the 28th of December! So that's 25% of the menu unavailable! As a restaurant I would expect, in fact demand, that if I dined at 1pm or 8pm I would have access to the full menu. It's a 2 minute walk to the local Sainsbury's... You should NEVER have run out of ingredients.

Been meaning to try this place for ages and finally made it; glad to say we’ll be back! Had the Christmas menu which is great value for three dishes plus cocktail and the portions were very generous. All the family thought their food was delicious, we particularly liked the monkfish scampi and the pigs in blankets.

Had a lovely evening here. This was my second visit in two weeks. The manager was very welcoming , showing us to our table. We were promptly served our drinks and chose dishes from the Meze menu. The food was delicious and piping hot. I love the atmosphere and the musician was very talented. The manager was excellent at ensuring our glasses were topped up. The cocktails were beautifully presented. I have to say this is now my favourite bar restaurant in the southside.

Total chaos tonight in Southside Bar Restaurant Giffnock. Was in for belated birthday meal with family together for the first time in 3 months and after 1hr 45 and they eventually brought out 2 dishes out of 18 we ordered. Left and went to Domino's Pizza Btw, we are requested to return the table after 2 hours. Having been to Southside many times before never been so disappointed.

Super evening, the decor and atmosphere was amazing and the staff (with Lello leading the way) went out of their way to not just keep our drinks topped up but they made everyone feel special! 👌 Had some small nibbles, the fresh dips and bread were delicious Live music planned for December which we will be back for Definitely worth booking a night with friends

This was our first visit to Southside and our initial impressions were excellent. Attentive staff, good atmosphere, guitar player (bit too loud for me) and excellent decor. Was somewhat surprised that all the dishes we had ordered came at once on not very hot plates. This gives you the impression it's a race to finish your meal before everything gets cold. For a tapas restaurant, the prices were on the hefty side as the portion sizes are quite small. Enjoyable night but could have been better.

Loved this place. Food was very tasty and good quality and quantity for meze. Good Christmas deal 3 dishes and a cocktail for £23. Staff friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be back.

We checked out Southside for a date night and it's a real hidden gem. The food was really tasty—like, seriously good. They've got a menu that's got a bit of everything tapas style, good vegetarian options and all of our plates of food were excellent. The cocktails were also fantastic, and they didn't skimp on presentation. It's the kind of place where you want to try something new and exciting. The place had an awesome vibe, and the live music just took it to the next level. It wasnt blasting, it was genuinely entertaining and gentle background music for eating dinner and chatting. It's not trying too hard, just a laid-back spot with good vibes. Definitely the kind of place where you can relax with friends or have a low-key date night. Whether you're into good food, delicious cocktails, live tunes, or just a chill atmosphere, this place has got it all without any extra frills. It's a hidden gem for sure.

A lovely and cosy restaurant, with great ambience for having dinner. The server was very welcoming, attentive, and smartly dressed may I add. The food was efficient and tasty! I would highly recommend this place for some good tapas food and wine.

On a recommendation from a friend we decided to try this fine looking bar/restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and quickly had our menus. After a good look at the Christmas menu we made our choices and were very pleased with what we had. The service was genuinely good and with a very decent musician playing near us we have to say that we will return again soon.

We visited this restaurant for the first time and weren't disappointed. The Tapas dishes were delicious and the staff were very helpful and attentive. There was live music which added to the atmosphere. We certainly plan to visit again in the near future.

Pictures online looked great but food was very repetitive bland and boring no kids menu either only a couple of options for kids so not good. Water glasses seemed like they needed a good clean too. Cocktails were the only enjoyable thing here unfortunatly. Wouldn't be back as its not worth the expensive prices

Only once we'd been seated and ordered drinks were we told there is no kids menu, so children (ages 1 and 3) offered only chicken or fish?! Meatball small plate was clearly processed meat, which we sent back (taken off bill, but as it was 3 for £19, this was small compensation as we were then charged full price for 2!). Chorizo and black pudding croquettes were nice inside but overdone outside. Beef tough. Drinks good and other dishes okay. Overall, not great experience for £70. Won't be back in a hurry.

Visited this place for the first time in a long time as we used to love it and was left disappointed with how poor it’s become. Menu very boring. Chicken shawarma not served very well. Patatas Bravas meze portions incredibly small for £7. Overall just a real decline in the food quality, portions and menu options which is a real shame for what was once a great place to eat.

This is an attractive bar in central Giffnock. However on arrival at a virtually empty bar (4 customers) early evening Saturday (and almost every table vacant) we were told there was no availability at any of the empty tables for us to have a drink. As we turned to leave (and very disgruntled) we were told we could now sit in a small corner table only. We felt this was very poor customer service (there were 2 occupied tables in total) and continued to leave the premises whereupon we were told we could sit elsewhere 'for now'. We stayed for 1 drink. The entire time we were there not one single customer came in or reservation arrived and seating for 30+ remained unoccupied but reserved for invisible customers. No one going by outside was tempted in to an empty looking bar. If tables are booked and being kept for later then they should be marked as 'booked" from that time onwards and not kept vacant before. A simple note on a reserved table with the time of booking would be sufficient leaving the table available beforehand. Turning away paying customers in a virtually empty bar on a Saturday is ludicrous. By the time we left staff outnumbered customers. In contrast the bar across the street was busy, welcoming and a table quickly found for us. We stayed there for rest of the evening.

Exceptionally good small plates menu. We were given some vouchers by friends to try this place and booked a table for 6.00pm. The young waiters could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Experience was somewhat marred by being approached by who I assume was the senior duty manager and demanded without introduction that our table was to be vacated by 7.50pm. As it was now around 7.40 and we had waited 20 mins to have our table cleared after our main dishes before a desert and coffee order was placed. I found this a little bit off. We were aware that there was a 2 hour slot. What upset me most was the nasty attitude of the young female staff member who unlike the other Staff didn't seem inclined to ask if our meal was nice or if we needed anything else. No pleasantries and no manners. Perhaps she expended all her good will fawning over her known regular customers at the next table who appeared able to secure a walk in without a booking unlike the others being turned away. On the whole a lovely place but reading other reviews there seems to be a common thread. This Staff member ruins all the efforts of the establishment to provide excellent food and service. A little bit of customer care training would not go amiss if anyone in Management is reading this. To say she was impolite is a bit too kind. Downright insolent. This was a bill of £73.00 plus a decent tip ... not a couple of coffees and a 2 hour sit. Not good. If you need a table back 10 minutes before time, tell the bloody customer when they sit down. Would come back but not whilst she still works there.

We have been here on numerous occasions and as usual the food did not disappoint however I can’t say the same for the service. We were waiting for over 40 minutes for the food to come out with no acknowledgment until we asked after over 35 mins. They did apologise however it felt like a perfunctory response. I appreciate it was busy however there it was no indication at time of order that it would be delayed. Very disappointed 😔

Went on a Wednesday evening so had 3 Meze plates for £15. This is excellent value. Food was lovely, but I felt 3 plates was too much for me. Two would have been perfect.

honestly what a stunning place! Was in this afternoon had a few drinks with a friend. The man with long hair think he was the manager!!! Great guy! I love this place, went somewhere else then came back but was refused because were to drunk . No we weren’t,! As I can still write this … the girl was absolutely HORRIBLE. I’ve worked in this industry for many years and this blonde girl was the worst! She lets this place down

Met some friends for a bite to eat. No one took their jacket off the whole evening. Waiter noticed we were cold and offered to check the heating. She never returned. Maybe wait till summer before I return!!

Enjoyed lunch here recently. Small plates were lovely, recommended 2/3 per person, which I think is fair. They are slightly more expensive that other places I have been which offer small plates, averaging around £9 per plate mark some more, some less. But were nice all the same. Service was good, friendly and checked up on regularly. The interiors are lovely too!

We ordered 2-3 dishes per person with some hummus and flatbread to start. After 50 minutes of waiting we asked how long our food would be. In response they said ‘it’s a Friday night’ then we said ok but do you know how long the food will be and they said that our table was the next order and that they go order by order and make all the tables things at once. In my opinion if a restaurant knows they can’t handle a typical busy Friday night then this should be accommodated for, either they hire more staff or they don’t accept as many tables. It shouldn’t take 50 minutes for hummus and pita to come. I have also never been somewhere that takes it order by order and can’t make multiple orders at once. But worse of all there was no customer service. Why did the staff not say when we arrived that there would be a long wait or even acknowledge the delay when we were sitting. It would have been good service to go up to the table and say sorry for delay. Instead the staff stood the entire night in the corner talking, super unprofessional. That being said, when food did eventually arrive it tasted good and the cocktails were great. The decor of the place is also lovely.

A nice addition to the Giffnock bar/restaurant scene, Southside is well laid out and has a nice vibe to it. We called in on a Wednesday evening & it wasn't overly busy. There's a deal of 3 mezes for £15 available Monday to wednesday, so we had a selection of 6....fish goujons, moroccan spiced lamb, pork souvlaki, chicken shawarma, halloumi & broccoli tempura. Good prompt service from the 2 waitresses ensured all 6 mezes arrived at once, might have been better if they were delivered in 2 lots of 3, but that said they were squeezed into the table & we finished them off in no time...all good & washed down with Prahva lager at £4.80. Well worth a visit imho....

Good food and service. We were seated upstairs away from most of the noise of customer chatter as this makes it difficult to have a meaningful conversation when you also have hearing issues like me.

Excellent food and presentation. Menu is small plates, perfect for sharing. Service was good. Go early in the week for discounted prices on lunch. I only managed pics of the cocktails, which were lovely.

I have been to Southside Bar Restuarant several times and the food has always been excellent. Staff are very good and attention. This is a must place to visit if you like GOOD food!
