A great chippy that serves basically everything you would expect from a menu at a chippy the food has always had same quality and taste every time i have been there so you know there is standards in their what they do. Parking can be a pain so would recommend leaving it a bit later when spaces are likely available outside otherwise may haft to park further up the road and walk. Cash only or bank transfer with details above the counter i did notice someone actually paying by card so im guessing that is a option available if spend over a certain amount?. I will definitely continue to use this chippy.

Service really slow must have been in there 20 -25 minutes to get my order In fact a male came in and after about 10 minutes left because he wasn't even asked what his order was he was just ignored The person cooking didn't seem to understand that the cheeseburger has cheese on it

This was possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had. The chips looked a d tasted old with black all through them, and the fish was completely tasteless. UGH!!

Used to be great but now the food is both greasy and dry. A lot of the chips are black and hard so while you do get a lot of them for your money, the quality is terrible.

Gone downhill massively in the last couple of years. Food still frozen in the middle, prices rising, portions sinking, staff are not warm and welcoming and the atmosphere inside the shop is non existent. Would no longer recommend.

Ordered some chicken burgers online and fries got to the shop To pick up got back to the price. There was brilliant enough Mayonnaise or onion, very dry. This is the few times that we've had a big portion of chips And they've been cold When I entered the shop , there was a A member of staff was telling another member of Should have done the online order he didn't even care jst did whag he want to do and waited for the other The rating for the shop is 3 it should be higherlike a five I worked in this shop years and years ago the standard was high is not good now

batter was soggy on fish and the potato fritter was dripping with oil. The turkey drumstick was not a drumstick but one very small reformed turkey drumstick. It was horrible.

Delicious food, despite requesting salt and vinegar, it was omitted. A shame as it should be added when hot! Only disappointment.

Disappointed with this order. The fish was broken at one end to fit it into a small box. I've never known that happen anywhere before. There were also hardly any chips. This food isn't cheap, so you would expect to at least get a proper portion. It does feel like pot luck with the size of fish, but if this experience is repeated I'll have to go elsewhere.

Absolute rip off.Nearly £9 for a piece of cod that was about10 cm long and 4cm wide!

Fish was pretty good but not as good as we have had from Southdown Fish Bar on previous occasions. Chips were a bit cold.

Ordered a large hot dog which turned out to be two small sausages with a small amount of fried onions in a very dry role chips are also hard and dry the burgers and fries are okay but this chip shop is too pricey for what you get

£19 for large cod, small chips and a saveloy. The quality of what I got was good, but I seemed to end up with a large chips and small fish. The cod wasn't large, unless you define large as being long and thin with little actual cod. They also picked a long delivery time and then extended by further 20 minutes, so it arrived at around 9.30pm. As the place is only a few minutes away I was surprised the food cold as well, but I expect I was low priority for delivery. Will do collect only in future.

My husband said it’s the worst fish and chips he has had. He ordered a large Haddock and was looking forward to it. Hardly any fish in the batter, batter was solid chips dry and tasteless. A waste of money. Rubbish. Curry sauce and my chicken were good.

Delvery driver was excellent even tho the wrong items were given to me they went and got my order deserves alot of praise and the food was epic! Made my night in thank you :)

Delivery was great however I was missing an entire burger and the only got 1 ketchup sachet for a whole 40p when it said "sachets" *plural*

Hard chewy rolls , manky lettuce and everything was cold even though the store should have only just opened

Absolutely vile food me and partner ate food last night around 5pm had nothing else that evening to eat or throughout that day partner and me throwing up and have stomach cramps and diahorrea food was rubbery greasier than usual just shut this place down

Had to remove all the batter from the fish as it was full of oil and disgusting. Must have been cooked and kept under hot lights until a delivery person was found as the box was dripping in oil. Chips was ok. Meal kept me awake all night. Bloated and uncomfortable, kept tasting the fish all night till around 4.00am I finally passed out. Not gonna bother with this place anymore.

Old chips clearly not soaked for long enough in dry white so we’re brown and tasted old, tiny piece of haddock served in the OAP box which there was more bones to fish. Not a pleasant meal

Southdown Fish Bar is the best place eer. They ar4e so quick to correct anything that is not right and the food is always hot and perfect when I get it.

Food was good but the sub total was added up wrongly. I was over charged

Chips are chips, but these are not just chips, they are very good chips, and you get a lot of the chips. To go with the chips, the battered sausage is quite excellent. And if you want something more than chips, they do potato scallops which are like big chips, but chips in batter. So if you like chips, your probably going to love the chips here.

when placing the order it was a 20 min delivery, they kept moving the time until it was nearly 2 hours .

Reasonable quality fish and chips. Paid £36.60 for 3 large fish, 3 large mushy peas & 1 large chips - takeaway.

Fish, mushy peas and curry sauce had a weird taste that wasn’t very pleasant. Veggie burger was also as is - hard bun with poor quality veggie patty with no salad, relish or sauce and extortionate price for what was received.

Many years ago. This used to be the goto place for affordable fish n chips. The last few years it just keeps getting worse and worse. Sometimes I even wonder if I'm really eating fish as its resemblance is just passing. Let's take today (See pic) now, does one of these look like a large against a regular with more value for the additional £2+ cost? I don't think so. At times I feel there is more fish in capn birsdeye fish fingers than these slithers of fish this last few yrs. Very poor quality food imo with no pride or love of their business. The right is (meant to be the large fish) lol is it hell.

When we got are order half of it was missing, it took two phone calls and an hour for them to put it right

I ordered through just eat approx £60 worth of food for a whole hour it stated " driver assigned " & the time for delivery kept changing to 5min b4 the chip shop closing time . I went & picked up my own order & watched it being prepared . The food quality was great as always but the assigned driver wasn't available for my order to be delivered & that's why I went to collect . It was a big order for family , friends & children & 5 min b4 closing time I had to collect . Just eat this is NOT acceptable.

Everything was good except for the burger it was full of Grissel.10 bits in a 10mm area

My only complaint was they didn't ring the bell and knocked the door instead. I didn't hear it and the girl had to ring my mobile.

We have ordered from here before but this time the food was exceptionally good. No greasiness at all, full of flavour and delicious chips. Perfect!

Staff were sullen and disinterested, didn't listen properly to our order, had to repeat it three times in an empty shop. Expensive at £9 something for fish and chips. Fish is very skinny but the batter was very tasty and generous portion of chips.

Two chicken breast and beaten up bun £7 insult. Chips in large box +£5 Luke warm rubbish. Will not be ordering no more !!!!!

Ordered food for around 19.30 had notification that driver at restaurant still no food at 20.00hrs phoned chip bar and said should be with you in 10 minutes so waited still no delivery so phoned chip bar again and they said driver hadn’t arrived so went down and collected it over an hour later. Will not be using just eat again . Extremely dissatisfied

Food always cooked to order. Batter on fish always crispy. Portion sizes are very good. Great family feast at a reasonable cost.
