Southcliff Fish Shop in East Riding of Yorkshire

We ordered 3 portions of fish and chips with peas and curry which should of cost £35 my daughter paid by contactless when she asked for a receipt she found he had actually charged her £95 he instantly gave her £60 back in cash. He did keep asking if it were her 1st visit to south shore other members of the family were also with her. So if you pay by contactless ask fir a receipt I wouldn’t want anyone to be out of pocket and only find out when they get home or pay with cash only. He knew what he was doing. This is fraud don’t be caught out!!

Where do I even begin food was Luke warm probably from having all the windows and doors open in the shop, chips were either too hard or too raw and pretty tasteless a shame I had to give 1 star for what I ate

Haddock and chips. lovely white, well cooked fish, we shared a portion of chips. these were real chips not frozen.

I stopped here for a sitdown meal in their resteraunt,I had the poached salmon an jacket:)cooked perfectly good portions, ,well pleased an lovely service with a smile:)get yaself along to it an enjoy:)

Offered scampi and chips for partner. Saw sign saying " cooked in beef dripping." So I wouldn't eat chips cooked in beef dripping so I said I'd have the veggie burger. Shock horror this is also cooked in beef dripping!!! I had to settle on a Jacket potato. Good points staff were lovely. My partner enjoyed his scampi an chips. Final say In this world of veganism, vegetarianism and gluten intolerance even chip shops have to accommodate. A chip shop in Hawes Yorkshire did this. They cooked my chips in veg oil.

Really disappointed with here. The prices are expensive and the portion size are some of the smallest I've had. Only tried to here whilst in area to see how a different place was. Wish had stuck to my nor.al place. The chips greasy and they fish wasnt nice

We came here as we had parked in the car park next to it and fancied some dinner. We queued up behind a big group and once we were served we were told they don't take card even though the visa and mastercard logos were advertised on the till, and there is no sign up saying no card payments. So we told them our order and walked 5 minutes to the cash machine and back, passing other food establishments on the way. When we returned, we had to wait a further 10 minutes as they were waiting on cooking the chips - which fair enough, there had been a big group infront of us but we had been gone 5 minutes so you would have thought they'd have made a head start, also it was a Saturday at dinner time - if they had been busy they wouldn't have had a chance of keeping up. The man that had taken our order was the most uninterested person in his job that I've ever come across. The woman before tried making a joke with him because he had charged her wrong and he just came across rude, no customer service. The woman that was cooking the food, while waiting - poured herself a drink of diet coke, tried ringing somebody twice on her mobile - to me just isn't the correct manner when you're meant to be working. Food was average, at best. Definitely wish we'd visited a different place after we'd gotten cash out.

The place was not very clean we had a long wait for our meal when the meal did turn up it was not very nice if we had not paid for the meal to start with we would have walked out.

Not even worth it, was terrible! Very disappointed, turned up at 5:15, before we ordered we asked if we could sit in, the server said “yes”,ordered 4 lots of fish and chips, and I’m not kidding we had around 15chips in our boxes, and the size of the fish I would have caught that in my local high street river. We then went to sit in and they said your not aloud to sit in even tho the people that was sitting in there just got there food. It was awful, the value for money is terrible. Stay away!!! Not worth it

Ordered fish and chips twice. Miserable man that served us. Price was nearly 15 pounds and we got a children's portion of chips each. Not good enough for that price.

Had the haddock with mushy peas. The fish was cooked whilst we waited and the batter was lovely and crispy-and not too thick. The haddock was really lovely and the mushy peas were also just right. Lovely meal served by polite staff. You can either take your meal away to eat or go upstairs. Would definitely recommend!

Had really good fish and chips here, the haddock was about as good as it gets! We waited for the fish to be cooked and it was well worth it. I can never understand people who complain that they have to wait for their food to be cooked - it's fresh for goodness sake! The batter was light and not at all greasy. We had them to eat out of the paper and sat in the gardens across the road, looking down to the beach. Good, freshly cooked, and £5.70 for haddock and chips. Lovely.

Stayed at southcliff in capin cabin excellent time had few trips to chippy during our stay nice chips

Chips were fine but don't expect fish and chips to be available if you arrive to buy after 8 pm as when we tried there were none left.

Fresh crispy fish and chips. Open during the day and right by the harbour viewing platform. Ate there twice and both times good but portion size varied
