Really good food, well priced and friendly staff.

Had a lovely fish and chip supper here with the family while down on a house swap, didn't have to queue which was great.

1 star 2 large portions of chips to feed a family of 4. 2 adults 2 v. Small kids. Paid 8.40 and all of us came away hungry. Such tiny portions for LARGE. I had to ask for a bag too. Will Never go again.

Best Fish & Chips in Braunton. Always well cooked.

Fish and chips supper cooked perfectly. The fish batter was nice with a good crisp. The chips were well cooked with a good crisp and fluffy inside. Nice friendly and prompt service.

Chips-undercooked Pie-overcooked pastry, no filling Gravy-thin and tasteless Fish-no flavour Mushy peas-texture of mash Used the online ordering option and still had to wait. All went in the bin and we made cheese on toast instead

Just got 2 portions of chips, 1 x Large and 1 x Standard size. The portion size was ridiculously small. I have never seen so few chips for this amount of money £6.60 I'll be going to Squires or surf and turf in the future. Why do these places become so so tight??? Its beyond me.

Once again, I've returned to South Sixteen fish and chips restaurant. I had another takeaway and it was fantastic. I was served by, Rich, Linby and Kelly, all who were very, very customer friendly. Great to have a chat. Why wait for the same meal at the competitor on the high street when the food here is as good or I think better. Give it a go everyone.

Tastiest and freshest-tasting fish and chips I've had in a long time. Saturday evening, no queue and just a short wait for the food to be cooked fresh. Will definitely come here again instead of the bigger one on the main road. Thank you.

Ordered online and collected, fish and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce were really tasty. Always good to support a small independent business.

Had Cod n chips takeaway. Nice fish (not greasy). Chips could of been cooked a bit longer and curry sauce was superb. No need to queue at Squires imo.

Had to really thank the staff at South 16 for letting us get served in the restaurant 10 minutes before closing time. The fish and chips had to be one off the best lot I had in a very long time. The cheeseburger was nice and especially the chicken burger yes I did try my kids burgers. Would recommend it if any one is visiting the area it's down a side street not the 1 on the main road

Lovely meal on our way home from the beach. Good chips, great batter on the fish. My children said the pizza was good too!

This is definitely the best Fish and Chip shop in Braunton. It is where the locals go (which proves that the big brand names visited by Tourists are not always best)! This hidden gem is where I always buy my fish & chips when I stay in this area. The fish is always delicious and fresh and the chips are perfect too. The locals definitely know best in coming here - please give it a try and you won't be disappointed. I can not understand any reviews where this place doesn't get 5 stars! I have bought fish & chips from here about 30 times over the years and it has always been perfect!

Fantastic food at a very reasonable price, the staff were fantastic. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a meal in the area. We will be back again that’s for sure.

Excellent fish and chips and brilliant servi e. Lunch time special Small Fish, Chips and Peas with cup of tea or coffee £8.35 excellent value and nice white flaky fish with great batter. Nice restaurant with plenty of seating. Parking available in Caen Street Car park about 100 yards away.

Absolutely amazing chips crispy kut and soft inside. Delicious batter- super crispy And not soggy at all (even at the bottom;) and the fish- flaky and soft. And ybe cherry on the cake are the stuff very friendly and professional. Thank you for an amazing meal.

Good old fish and chips. Tasty cod, well cooked chips excellent service and friendly staff.

Better half wanted me to go to "the other place" but the queue looked too big for my liking. So I got takeaway from here and must say it was all perfect. If the streets look busy, free parking is available after 6pm in the public carpark behind the building. Click and collect also available.

Disgusting fish n chips 😡 fish was over cooked and chips were reheated. Had wait ages so expected high quality food won't be returning!

Wow what can I say after reading some of the reviews we though we must try it . So ordered two portions of large chips to start with !!! Got home and straight in the bin they went absolutely disgusting not cooked through raw potatoes in side I couldn't believe it . Well squire's it is round the corner from now on . I will never be ripped off for 7 quid on chips that go in the bin stay away my advice

Perhaps it waa a bad batch.. but the chips were the worst i have had.. dry and shrivelled. Fish was nice though.shame.

It took several minutes to be acknowledged although the restaurant was quiet. Food was OK & arrived in good time. Friendly service. The biggest disappointment was the home made tartar sauce that was charged at over £1 but was essentially mayonnaise with whole capers.

The service really let's this restaurant down.The click and collect/ ordering on line from my personal experiences does not work.I have found myself waiting about for up to 25 mins on a couple of occasions whilst other customers walk in off the street order across the counter and recieve their items almost immediately, yet I am left waiting for 25 minutes for the exact same order. Management really need to rectify this promptly to avoid losing regular customers.

Staying in the unison Croyde bay hotel, I was told by a local resident and employee to try the fish and chips at this restaurant, I was not disappointed the quality of food was superb, all freshly cooked to order, very good portions, well worth a visit for top quality food. Well done to all staff. 👍😁

Fails to check order before leaving. Happened on few occasions now. Then rude when we ask for our missing order pointing fingers at my face 🤷

We have just had cod and chips from South 16. It was absolutely delicious, good flaky fish, crispy batter, good well cooked chips with a bite to them. Excellent home made tartare sauce too. Highly recommend it. The staff and service are great too!

Off the main streets, well worth a visit. The cod was firm with nice crispy batter, the whole tail scampi was excellent. I recommend the homemade tartar sauce to accompany it.

Waste of time ordering on the Click and Collect, people were coming in who hadn't pre ordered and getting their orders before ours.

Loved the steamed options of fish with salad. Restaurant clean and tidy.

Great fish and chip shop. You can order on the website and then turn up and collect. I'd have given 5 stars but there was a little mixup with one of our orders which meant we waited 15 mins for food that was already cooked.

Friendly owner and staff and excellent quality fish and chips. well run and nice indoor seating and eating. The other chippy got famous, but I think this one is the best.

One of the best Fish and Chip shops I've ever been to. The Pizza is more sauce than cheese and the wait time was pretty bad to say I'd preordered 3 hours in advance, however the quality and flavour of the food was perfect and mostky makes up for the half hour wait time. There is seating inside and the shop as it looks like they double up as a fine in restaurant, however this was closed due to covid at the time. The staff are very helpful and friendly

Great place for your week day or weekend meal, they've got a oldies day where you can get some pennies of your meal at lunchtime when you eat in. It's very clean and tidy with a wide range of food and drink, all food is cooked while you wait so it'll be hot and fresh for you...

Terrible service, clearly unable to manage online orders when busy. I placed my order 40 minutes before chosen collection time and arrived 10 mins before. I waited at the designated click and collect point as indicated on the sign. No staff members cam out to check on waiting customers. I went in 10 minutes after the booked time to ask how delayed they were to be met by snide remarks and no clear answer. I was eventually given my food nearly 30 minutes late with no apology. pizza were mad ahead of time and weren't as good as normal due to being left in the warmer for too long. While I was waiting overheard other staff members telling walk in orders that there was only a 10/15 minute wait. So there was obviously no point in ordering in advance despite them saying that's their preference for orders.

Couldn't get in at any pub due to shortage of chefs everywhere but stumbled across this place. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, good value fish and chips, ended up feeling glad we went here than anywhere else! Food isn't greasy at all and very well cooked, would come back again no problem.

Very nice fish and chips, cooked fresh and minimal delay to order.

Brilliantly fresh and buttery haddock and scrumptious scampi cooked fresh to order with light batter. We particularly recommend a side of the homemade tartare sauce. Unfortunately we left our mushy peas on the counter, but luckily the kind cashier ran after us and we were reunited. This was exemplary customer service and I would recommend South 16 over Squires any day for service and ingredient quality.

Ordered from here during a Croyde weekend. Ordered on-line and picked up at the designated time - all done through the on-line booking system (with option to choose salt and vinegar separately too). Food was great, some Cod, chips and battered sausage, all tasty, crispy and delicious. Happily recommend and will go back again.

Nice fish n chips... tried this as couldnt be bothered to que for squires and was thankfully as food was really good.

We dropped in unknowingly at closing time, however the staff were friendly, and more than happy for us to place an order. We were served from their doorway which I didn't mind one bit - saves having to wear a mask! Food was tasty and tasted freshly cooked, zero complaints from us! Many thanks! 👍

Really tasty, lovely batter on the fish!

Realised very quickly that there is a reason why the fish and chip shop 15 metres away is queuing out on to the street when this place has one waiting customer. The chips are about 4 shades blacker that what the photos show and the fish batter was stuck to the paper it was wrapped in. The staff were kind and friendly. The 4.6 rating is very misleading based on this showing.

We ate in as a table of 7. You cannot fault the fish and chips here, the skin is removed from the fish. The meal was delicious and service very good too.. The interior was clean and modern, just a little on the chilly side. I'd definitely eat here again, the daily specials include a hot drink and are great value for money.

"Pay more for less!" Usually get our takeaway from Squires but thought we'd fancy a change! Small portions, barely there salt and vinegar and the veggie burger was a massive disappointment! To add insult to injury you pay 10p for a what's-meant-to-be-free paper bag!

OK, I went here to avoid the queues at Squires, after reading the reviews I expected alot better. The batter was soggy, the chips were tasteless. I'm sorry but not a pleasant experience. You live and learn, and sadly I won't be back.
