Souk Kitchen in Bristol, City of

Opposite the Tobacco Factory arts centre in the Southville district, this is billed as a meze restaurant, but portions are generous and flavours delicious. A refreshing lemon and mint spritzer got things off to a good start, quickly followed by tasty and more-ish flatbread with zatar. The excellent falafel came with a delicious green harissa sauce with pomegranate seeds, the aubergine and chick pea dish was just so. And our shared chocolate tart with date sauce and a side of home-made ice cream finished off the meal nicely.

Was super excited to go and egged on by locals. Felt really lucky when offered a table as a walk in. Water on the table as you sit. Nice flatbread. Tarama was a touch mild but good ingredients and nicely dressed. Beetroot mezze was great. Then they forget my wine order and bring a delayed aubergine mezze that was undercooked topped with a rock hard poached egg. Waiters only check in to take orders and bring the bill.

Best meal in Bristol. I love this place. There is no bad dish. The halloumi is a stone cold classic and the hummus is up there with the best.

One of the best dinners we have had, wonderfully inventive mezze, superb flavour combinations, reasonably priced. Overall, faultless, highly recommend.

I’d heard so many good things about Souk Kitchen over the past few years and I was really disappointed when I tried it for the first time this evening. You don’t get a lot for your money, to be honest. Mackerel was delicious but the hummus (a staple dish) was bland with a hint of the medicinal. 2 slices of halloumi, undercooked beans, bread, literally 2 anchovies (4 halves). Apparently aoili covers all manners of sins. With drinks it came to nearly £60, obviously passive service included. No checkback, no “how was your food”. Still hungry!!

We tried all the vegetarian options and all were amazing. I would highly recommend trying this place.

Took my daughter who is studying at Bristol uni for a bit of a treat. And what a treat it was. Indescribable flavours - the type of good that makes you moan as you take a mouthful. Fresh, crunchy, aromatic, beautiful, colourful, surprising, original. Good job that I don't live near or I'd be there too often! Will definitely go again with various other family members.

Food is always exceptional, but the restaurant is really cold at the moment. We are regulars here but won’t be returning until the weather warms up. It’s no fun having to eat a meal wearing a big overcoat!

Lovely evening out with friends. Great selection of starters especially liked the parsnip and honey dip with flat breads. Then onto a great selection of tapas shared across the table. Loved the cauliflower, stuffed mushroom and steak but all very good. Desserts are disappointing as choice of only two and when they came were average in size and taste.

A not overly long, but very enticing and well-assorted, range of options. Plenty of vegetarian choices with a couple of meat dishes. We had both the pleasantly crisp breaded chicken and the pork souvlaki, which was a bit dry though the moisture in the abundant garnish made up for it. We also tried the excellent chargrilled cauliflower, as well as the white beans with roast artichokes, peas, broad beans and wild garlic, a real vegetable riot. Bright, zingy flavours and vivid colours all around, and also a fatty richness that for us was almost too much. Portions are generous: four mezze with perhaps some flatbread and a dip or snack are filling for two people. Service, atmosphere and decor are cheerful, and even the prices are friendly.

Delicious mezzes which make choosing which ones to have a hard decision. Always excellent here & we will keep coming back every time we are in Bristol.

Came here Saturday night, had a window seat. Beautiful place. Exceptional service, but the food was the main event. Lovely presentation, amazing flavours, very substantial portions for mezze style. Everything I ordered was fantastic, but in particular the taramasalata and the skate wing. Will back back again very soon. Thanks guys keep smashing it.

Excellent food. Didn't know what we'd like so ordered the lot for 4 of us. All delicious and plenty of it. The pickles and olives were sublime, as was the sea bream and hallumi. I'd eat there everyday if I could. Service was excellent too. Recommended.

The food is just amazing, Middle-Eastern and Greek inspired, the flavours are just so beautiful. The food always looks great and it tasted even better. Love the idea of having a few small Mezze’s keeps it exciting and allows you to experience a lot more without eating a whole huge meal. The flavour combinations just make sense. Have never been disappointed with the Souk Kitchen, the most delicious flavoursome food. Definitely my favourite restaurant, and I cannot wait to go back and eat more! 10/10 would recommend. The food makes me so happy :)

New to living in Bristol & very keen to try out this interesting-sounding restaurant, mainly because of positive TripAdvisor reviews. This was somewhere with slightly different food for a birthday meal with friends. The Souk Kitchen definitely lived up to all of my pre-conceptions! :) Really, really fantastic variety of individual Moroccan/Arabic inspired mezze-type dishes & all truly delicious - I particularly enjoyed the humous, the lamb, the beef, the asparagus & the crispy squid dishes. There was also a relatively short wine list of different, quality wines (reds from Romania & Portugal, plus whites from Greece (but much better than your typical Retsina)! Service was helpful, informative & attentive, without being overly claustrophobic. Overall, a really fantastic evening spent with friends, with superb food & wines. Thank you to all @ Souk Kitchen who made our evening SO enjoyable - we will definitely be returning for another meal.
