Sorriso Restaurant in Lichfield

I would just like to thank all the staff at Sorriso for an amazing evening. We were celebrating a birthday with 16 friends and family. Everyone's food from the pasta, to the prawns to the steak was perfection . This is an authentic italian and the staff are so friendly and welcoming . So don't walk past this place pop in for lunch or dinner. This is not a chain but a family business which reflects in their great service beautiful food and that welcoming feeling when you walk through the door.

What a great resturant food excellent quality staff so friendly well done what a warm cozy welcoming restaurant highly recommend it

Friendly service, relaxed ambience. Authentic Italian food, with each separate dish individually prepared, and even the bread for the bruschetta home made. We shall be back.

This place has such potential.. the atmosphere is nice with quaint little features but it's really let down by the food. The soup didn't really taste of much and the creamy garlic mushrooms were mushrooms with like a clear, starchy sauce - tasteless. We ordered one lamb shank - this was probably the best thing that came out. Chicken with mushroom sauce and mash, really missing some veg and it was a chicken breast with the same clear sauce as the starter. The carbonara looked nice but portion size was small Overall a really disappointed meal and wouldn't return here. Hope Lichfield has more to offer

We had a brilliant experience here and Angelo and the other staff couldn’t have been better. The food was delicious, my son enjoyed making the children’s “make your own pizza”. With Italian heritage, we are hard to please but we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

You will go a long way locally to find a better Italian restaurant than this one. The food is of exceptional quality and Roberto and Angelo are wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much to ask of them.

We tried the smile menu on a Tuesday night which is a great deal and offers nice choice of options plus a drink. We tried the calamari and funghi darwin, both of which were excellent and had large helpings. For the mains we sampled the Maiale Bolognase, pizza and Spaghetti Carbonara again great dishes (albeit with the meat strips being rather overdone). Beer selection is limited. Would recommend to visit.

Booked a table for 6pm, we arrived to a quiet restaurant however we were sat in a corner on top of another table for two which was very uncomfortable. We ordered a main course only. We weren’t drinking alcohol on this occasion so we noticed the food arrived very quickly. Other tables who were drinking alcohol hadn’t received their food. The portions were very small and bland. No one asked if everything was okay. We paid the bill and left without anyone saying thank you or goodbye. Less than 30 minutes from entering to exiting. They food is quite clearly re heated not prepared freshly and they only want customers that drink alcohol. A very disappointing Saturday night out. Needless to say we won’t be returning and we would not recommend to anyone.

After being transported back to the 80’s as we walked through the door, we then experienced one of the worst meals we’ve ever had. I think the pizzas were a Dr Oetker special, although he might not put his name to them! How can an Italian restaurant serve pizza like that? Itsa disgrace, the pizza warmer upperers mama would be turning in her grave. The bowel of undercooked anaemic chips made me want to vomit. Not even cheap either. Not sure how they’ve stayed in business this long?

Avoid this place as it was truly dreadful. Neither of our main courses were pleasant to eat and dessert only just about passable. Worst meal for many many years

We popped in for the set menu but really wish we hadn't bothered. The bruschetta consisted of chopped up tasteless tomatoes on a slice of stale bread. This was followed by the risotto from the set menu. This again lakced any taste or flavourings. It had obviously been made a while ago and then chucked in the microwave so the consistency was dry and chalky.

So so Italian restaurant. Good veggie options but the ravioli was smothered in tomato sauce - so unnecessary as the ravioli was good. Not too expensive

Amazing PEOPER ITALIAN!! Food was soooooooo good! Staff amazing? Came along on a Wednesday night when there wasn’t much happening. We went for Sunday lunch with friends. It was just lovely. Great service. Good food. Can’t add much more really. Give it a try.

A little disappointing after reading reviews. My husband had the Sea bass which was overcooked and the chips were soggy. I had beef medaglione which was over salted, again with soggy chips. The broccoli in both cases was crisp and tasty.

Sorriso means smile but that experience did not leave me smiling. The staff was rude and abrupt. For the price of the food, the portions were small and the taste was bland. The lasagna was more like a soup, the panscotti alla norma was a bland filled pasta in a basic tomato sauce that I would expect to pay £5 for in a supermarket cafe. The pizza was not traditional Italian style. It was thick with a large crust and very little topping. Must try harder if they care about repeat customers.

I booked on line and received a warm welcome before being lead to a cosy table in the window. We had olives and bread with a balsamic dip to start with a plate sized garlic bread. I then had the calamari and whitebait and we both had a superb lasagne. My meal was a meal deal and included a glass of excellent red but I also sampled the draught Peroni. Superb service and an excellent meal with friendly staff.

First visit in twelve months, prices have increased and smaller portions. Bruschetta starter only one piece of bread. lasagne was very bland, lack of meat and too much sauce, very runny, should have returned. All friends commented about the small portions. The lighting is too bright, no ambience to the restaurant, need to dim the lights. Will not be returning in the near future.

We came to Sorriso for a work night out and had a wonderful night. The atmosphere was lovely especially considering it was mid week. The service was fast and the waiting on staff were just so friendly. Roberto one of the owners has a lovely way with the customers and we loved when he spoke in Italian to us. Food was exquisite and the drinks were fab. Excellent value for money, the portions are massive, we will definitely be returning!

Great Italian in the heart of Lichfield. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient and the food is really enjoyable. We would happily give this restaurant 5 stars for their food, but have marked down to 4 stars due to the fact that in our opinion the food was served far too quickly. No sooner had we finished our starters than the mains arrived. We have no complaints about the food so would happily return, but maybe mentioning next time that we would like to take a little more time over our food! This restaurant is worth a visit.

We were recommended this restaurant by a lady at premier inn and she even said it was the best Italian food she’s had and she was not wrong! Lovely food, great staff and great value for money! Would definitely be back here again!

I visited around 6 years ago and it was excellent, on this trip it didn't quite meet the same standard but was still a very nice evening out. The occasion was for my Wife's birthday, on a Sunday night from 6pm until they closed (at 9pm), we booked in advance. I believe ownership of the restaurant may have changed hand's in the meantime; certainly the dining room has been redecorated to bright white's and light blue colours. Previously the interior was dated but cosy, the new interior gave a rather maritime feel with the strange choice of some walls being coated in a cheap looking brick-patterned vinyl. No bad word can be said about cleanliness, the restaurant seemed well kept, the toilets were fine, and the kitchen (as far as I could spy from my table, gleamed spotlessly.) On the whole the food was fantastic. Other reviews mention small portion sizes and the restaurant have rightly responded that was likely an issue with ordering from their 3 course special offer menu. We ordered from the main menu and thought those portions were generous in all instances. My wife had the Calamari and prawns to start, she said they tasted very fresh and flavourful, high praise considering this is one of her favourite dishes. I had mushrooms, this was decidedly the worst meal of the evening in my opinion, I think it tasted a little bland and the bread was overtoasted, the char of the bread overpowering everything else. For the main course we had the Lamb and the Pork Belly. Both completely surpassed expectations, being tender and moist in the case of the lamb, and satisfyingly crunchy in the case of the pork belly, both were served with a sauce/jus that were packing amazing flavour. Dessert was Vesuvio and Raspberry Pavlova, which were beautifully presented and delicious. Service was accommodating to requests to change table, remove wine from a requested dish etc. though would benefit from slightly more situational awareness and conscientiousness. Some examples of this would be when my glass was empty and a server visited the table 3 times without removing it, only doing so when specifically asked, and even then did not enquire as to if I would like another. Later when I called a server's attention to ask for a dessert menu I was not greeted with "How may I help you?' or 'Is everything okay?' as one may expect but with a curt 'Yes?'... perhaps I was wearing on their patience at that point, or perhaps they were overworked; it did seem like service would have benefitted from an extra member of staff being on hand. Now I've mentioned it I should probably talk about the dessert menu, it was is a somewhat crinkled side of laminated A4 with a badly stretched stock image of a tiramisu upon it, watermark and all (naughty), as this is a dessert they serve it immediately raises questions as to why they didn't simply take and use a picture of their own? This would be an inexpensive issue to address and would make the presentation seem leaps more professional. The biggest surprise of the evening came at the end, the price. For: Bread and Olives, Calamari Mushrooms Lamb Pork Belly Ice Cream Pavlova a half pint of Peroni 2x Mocktails and a Bottle of mid range wine total of £125...ish Which I have to say is drastically under what I was expecting to pay, perhaps by as much as 30%, really showing their commitment to competitive pricing. As a customer, here you can expect a very nice evening with food that is mostly outstanding for a very reasonable price. For the restaurant I think there is such great potential here to re-achieve or even outstrip the glory of days gone by. You already have the food sorted, a slightly tighter service and some changes to decoration/presentation would really elevate you and help justify raising those prices a bit.

This is a lovely restaurant. The food was excellent; to start we had the mushrooms and the fried mixed seafood followed by the cod and the risotto, finished off with a timarasu. Service was friendly and attentive.

We had not visited Sorriso for a couple of years, as I usually have my pooches in tow. My dad and I visited one evening, and enjoyed the most fabulous food. The staff are very attentive and sooper friendly, nothing is too much trouble!!! We had the lasagne and arrabiata, both dishes were amazing......thank you guys we will be back!!! Xxx

Pleasant staff, but the starter of prawns included their empty heads as well as the meat: why? My main course of a fish casserole was essentially mussels, I’ve had more with a starter dish. Not value for money I’m sorry to say.
