What a fabulous lunch we had at the Plum Pudding on monday. Went with friends they really like it there. We all tried different meals.which were excellent. Staff were very professional and helpful.reccomending different meals. Can't wait to return. Such a friendly atmosphere. Very reasonably priced.

Absolutely appalling customer service by the waitresses, spoke to me on my friend with a terrible attitude loudly, speaking about us to other other staff, and what I assume are regulars at the bar! That was our first and last time there!

My husband and myself love this pub to sit outside have a drink and a meal very friendly staff a delicious Sunday lunch I must say it’s great in the summer outside and inside in the colder months

Met my sister and brother in law here as visiting the area on a narrowboat. Ate outside with being hot which is a slightly different menu to eating in . Lovely meal was had by all . Loved the decor in the ladies when paying a visit . Would I return. Most definitely yes .

We go to the Plum Pudding most Sunday lunchtimes and the food, drinks and service are all second to none! It’s what I would describe as “Good Honest Pub Grub” at a great price

We were sat at a sticky table which needed cleaning, had to ask for two dirty knives to be replaced, not a good start. Ordered for starters prawn and crab cocktails four of us are still looking for the crab, none. The main meals all had frozen chips, and burnt garlic bread. Will we be back ? NEVER

Quick stop for some lunch at this great little pub. Food is excellent and the beer garden backs onto the Trent & Mersey canal. Highly recommended.

Came here for lunch with friends but since I knew I was having a large evening meal I opted to have a starter as a light bite so as not to ruin my appetite and chose the 'Classic Prawn and Crab Cocktail, which I was looking forward to. However when it came it most certainly wasn't crab in there, but chopped up bits of surimi or seafood sticks - I was so disappointed. I checked the menu in case it was an oversight on my part but it definitely said crab, not artificial crab. I didn't say anything as I was with some people I'd only met that day, and it was edible, but grossly false advertised. Such a pity as the pub itself was lovely and the service fantastic. So if you fancy ordering the prawn and crab cocktail I really wouldn't bother, you won't be getting authentic crab meat.

We came over today to celebrate a 65th Wedding anniversary. No complaints with the setting, or service whatsoever - nothing spectacular but no real complaints either. Unfortunately the food was a real let down. We had to have a steak taken off the bill as it was just too tough to eat and there were no other standouts from around the table. The lady who looked after us was friendly and understanding, but some improvement to the quality of the food offer is required.

Dined out with my mum and daughter and ate if the lunchtime menu....food and service were excellent will def be coming back 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😁

Excellant value lunch time meal, a real plateful for a tenner. Wife couldn't finish hers, too full. And believe me if she says that????? Staff great and would laugh and joke. Nothing too much trouble. We had a good laugh with other customers which made it a good lunchtime. Keep up the good work.

Such a lovely place to eat, came highly recommended and we saw why. 😊 ❤️ Good was delicious lamb shank was melt in the mouth, and best ham egg and chips I've had in a very long time. Jam roly poly was lovely came with custard with a separate jug of custard. Maisie was lovely greeted us with a great smile the rest of the girls also must be a great credit to the manager. Will definitely be a few return visits.

Have been to the Plum Pudding for Sunday lunch for the last three weeks. What a great place, food delicious, hot and plenty of it. Staff are extremely friendly and efficient. Can’t fault it.

Obviously it has a certain charm with the canal alongside and a great out door location for the summer. It is opposite a large static caravan park which must provide a regular customer base. The lunch menu is excellent value at £9.90 for 2 courses. We opted for the 'full version' and both of us were defeated. The ham and double eggs were very generous and filled the plate and my colleague couldn't defeat his main meal after a massive plate of mushrooms. A great filling lunch in a comfortable location with friendly service.

The food was exquisite, hot and was ready fast enough. Staff are so polite and friendly. would 100% recommend and will definitely be coming here again.

I tried to have dinner here last weekend. Now I know why I was unable to get a table, the food was on the top shelf . Plenty of meat and vegetables for a great Sunday roast, well done to the plumb pudding team, all served with a great smile. I feel that this will be a regular place we shall visit for a long time to come. Thanks again. Just been to the plum pudding for the 2nd time for Sunday lunch .and as I thought it did not let me down plenty on the plate 3 slices of Beef 5 vegetables all hone cooked to perfection absolutely well done again. 👍

Amazing food as usual, Sunday dinner to die for! Got a late booking, pleased was an understatement. Very good amounts of food for very reasonable cost. Lovely, helpful staff. Excellent choice of beers which pleased dad! Very comfortable atmosphere which made us want to stay longer but the kids had other plans! Sorry for any disturbance caused ❤️

Lovely place, long time since we’ve dined here. Lovely decor, great location. Friendly and attentive staff. We booked last minute today, I think they perhaps would have benefited from another member of staff. Shame that my hunters chicken was over cooked but their were very quick to replace and rectify the issue. My father really enjoyed his burger, my partner loved her veg curry., There were decent veg options for her. The menu was decent in general. The staff were lovely. Always had fond memories of the place and glad to say we will continue too! Thanks for another good experience guys!

5 adults visited the Plum Pudding for Sunday Lunch. Greeted my friendly staff in a lovely pub, quiet when we arrived but pub had not long opened. We were shown to our table and asked what drinks we would like. Drinks were bought over promptly and our order was taken. The food came out and it was utterly delicious - very generous portions and very tasty. There was quite a bit left over (due to the size of the portions) , I asked if I could take it home for my dog and this was not a problem. No room for a dessert so we got the bill - pleasantly surprised £80 for 5 of us, works out £15 each. A truly beautiful meal - highly recommended. Pub was quite busy when we left - would recommend booking.

Nice canalside pub with friendly, helpful staff, great vegan option on the menu, and a good cellar. 24hr mooring available as long as you spend in the pub, but that's easily done with the wide choice of food and drinks. Would definitely come again.

Fantastic meal, I had Chicken and my husband bacon chop. Large portions and very good quality food. Staff are very attentive and friendly as always.

I had to the two course mid week lunch for £9.95. The lasagne was probably the best I've ever had. It was served with a slice of garlic bread and a generous side salad. The jam roly poly dessert with custard was better than my own home made. Can't wait to return.

Travelling through Armitage after visiting relatives and thought we would stop for Sunday lunch. All of the staff were friendly and we were asked if we were eating. We were shown to our table. The dining room was nicely decorated and very homely. A smiley waitress came to take our order for food and drink. The service was brilliant. The food was piping hot and delicious. The vegetables came in separate dishes which sometimes means they are not too hot, but these were red hot and very tasty. Although we were both as full as a boot, we also ordered deserts. My husband ordered the traditional Sherry trifle and I ordered a lemon meringue sundae. They were both outstanding deserts and we can honestly say we had an amazing Sunday lunch. We would highly recommend the pub and will definitely be back! It is situated alongside the canal so would be lovely in the summer.

Popped in by chance today, had Sunday lunch and soooo glad we did. Roast beef was mouth watering, definitely going again. It's a must!

Went to the Plum Pudding on Wednesday for our anniversary.what a fantastic meal and service.could'nt fault a single thing.meal even included a bottle of wine.real value for the price.

Gorgeous food. Big portions and the staff were lovely. Definitely will visit again. The only drawback was when my husband went to have a look at the riverside but the door ( which was a fire door) was locked. Will still visit again

Diabolical main course which was inedible…. Don’t order the veg lasagne! A gloop of overcooked pasta with a mountain of aubergine & zero taste! The gave me a bowl of chips as a substitute…. V v poor! We had booked for Sunday dinner but cancelled it & booked elsewhere as they weren’t bothered about losing another booking!!! Get your act together!

Food is a decent price however the food quality wasn't up to much and very basic . Wetherspoons quality. Staff were friendly enough, apart from 1 who had an attitude problem. Service was fairly slow considering it wasn't busy. 4/10

Nice friendly atmosphere, with a cheery log burner keeping the place warm on a very cold day. Staff were friendly and obliging. Lunch menu was good value and just right size wise. Didn't have any of the dishes listed below, but our food was all very tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. Lasagna was really good, as was the jam rolypoly and custard.

We visited the Plum Pudding for Sunday lunch yesterday and loved it! I had the vegetarian lasagne and my husband had Turkey. Both were really tasty and the portions were big! The service excellent. Even the music was spot on! Thank you Plum Pudding 😍

Been to the plum pudding a handful of times and I must say we have never been disappointed with the food or staff , came for Sunday lunch today and all three girls were bubbly, polite and organised despite how busy it was , and food was 10/10 Would definitely recommend This place !

Fitted us in at last minute for a Christmas eve lunch. 2x banging roasts, 2x deserts and kids fish fingers, chips and beans for less than £40. Highly recommend

£43 for 2 starters & 2 burgers 2 drinks Prawn & crab stick cocktail tastless very bland.. burger was OK little bit pink for my liking but I ate some of it 1st time I've been in here I won't be rushing back ..only reason we went because of the raving reviews!!

What a wonderful local restaurant and pub! Great staff, really friendly, hospitable and welcoming. They have a great traditional menu plus a specials boards and a lovely selection of sweets. A well stocked bar with a great choice of beers, wines and spirits at very reasonable prices. If you want traditional meals, well priced with a warm welcoming atmosphere, you must try the Plum Pudding.

A lovely homely pub that serves freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. It was my first visit, but I will certainly be going back.

Grrrrrrreat Sunday Lunch With Lovely Roast Potatoes. We particularly like the seasonal vegetables that are served in sharing dishes. Their traditional puddings are amaaaaaazzzzzzing and delicious.

Will not be returning, quality of food was very poor and not cooked correctly, steak was the cheapest cut possible with almost no flavour, no atmosphere and the place was dead, staff not willing to accommodate simply requests and refused to cook a poached egg instead or fried??

This place was wonderful. They were so nice and accommodating to us. We were coming from the canal and didn't know we needed reservations. They found us a spot. The food was amazing. A few days later, we stopped by on our way back. Next time we are in the area, we will stop by again.

Had a very nice lunch here- 2 courses for £9.99 which was excellent value & large portions. Good food & a nice choice of traditional 'pub grub' meals plus specials. An enjoyable atmosphere & decor. Just sorry they don't allow dogs inside - you can sit out with them but it was a bit chilly for that! So many people have dogs these days that an inside 'seating with dogs' area would be really helpful, & popular I suspect.

Stayed overnight in the car park in motorhome. Very noisy and busy road , would not stay over again. Great spot right by the canal

Regulars to the Plum Pudding. Staff very friendly and always happy to accommodate special requests. Food is A*, recommend the Sunday dinners but booking is required.

Poor food not cooked very well. After letting the manager know there was a problem when ever she was behind the bar all I got was dirty looks. Every one in our group ordered a dessert every but mine never made it out and ended up going without as by then we just had enough and wanted to get out there. We won't be going back.

I visited the Plum Pudding with my family for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fantastic, there was loads of food to go round and the staff were very attentive, we were particularly impressed by the way they handled a very unpleasant situation that we witnessed where a customer was complaining about their meal and it was quite apparent that they were only complaining to get a free meal for themselves and their family but the staff stayed calm addressed the situation with dignity. Well done Plum Pudding keep up the good work.

Very good food but a limited menu but what's on the menu is very good

Recently celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary with a meal for 21 people at The Plum Pudding. It was a wonderful afternoon. The team provided us with 3 course meal that was delicious. Each course was served promptly by very efficient staff. I am in awe that the chef managed to provide so many meals all at the same time. Liaison with Clive prior to the day was smooth and professional. Thank you all for making our special day so enjoyable. Sue x

Lovely pub, friendly staff, but, there is no disabled access to the seating area by the canal. So of you are unable to climb steps, inside the pub is the only option which is a shame on a nice day

What a disappointment. The food menu change is 😣. Chips with this chips with that. Just a bland same old as everywhere else menu. I left most of mine tonight. Just tasteless. It’s a real shame as we’ve come here, every year for our anniversary, because the food and choice and quality was absolutely top notch, offering gorgeous seasonal veg etc. Sorry to say, we won’t be back again 😕
