Sorrento Italian Restaurant in Stroud

We came here on a Wednesday evening without a booking we were seated immediately as we were greeted by the door which was already such a lovely welcome. There is so so much choice!! There’s a choice for everyone we had two starters, mozzarella in Carrozza and melanzane Alla parmigana as well as a cheesy garlic bread it was delicious I couldn’t even get a photo as we just devoured it instantly we especially loved the napolitana dip with the fried mozzarella we even dipped our garlic bread into it😍for mains my boyfriend had a pizza quatro formaggi it had the perfect crispiness on the outside and the soft dough in the middle loaded with toppings, I had the penne con funghi e pollo it had a creamy sauce which was perfect with the mushrooms, there were different varieties of mushrooms inside and the chicken was perfectly cooked! We didn’t manage to finish everything so we took the leftovers home and had it the next day at work (it tastes just as good if not better the next day😍) we also ended up having dessert even though we were very full I went for profiteroles which had a very generous coating of chocolate on top and my boyfriend had a creame brûlée which was from the specials board both tasted amazing just like the whole meal we were offered coffee and drinks at the end however we don’t drink coffee so we didn’t try it but we honestly had an amazing experience the two gentlemen waiting that night were ever so helpful as we had a taste card and I didn’t realise I had to book and I had to tell them about it but they were very generous to still give us the discount but we would have honestly been happy to pay the full amount and even more as this tasted exactly how it really tastes in Italy so thank you so much again and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Local spot for us, Great food as always, service is super friendly and helpful, Always leave wanting to stay longer and eat more full but unfortunately my stomach doesn’t stretch that wide! A great spot for family’s, Friends and couples.

From the moment we arrived the friendly welcoming staff made us feel right at home. The food was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Great atmosphere, value for money. We will be retuning next week to try one of the specials. Thank you so much 😊

We had a lovely meal here. The quality of food here was amazing, one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The service / owners were even lovelier, they made us so welcome and we had a wonderful night because of this. I couldn’t rate this place better.

Being a great fan of Sorrentos We were not sure that an Italian restaurant would quite get a roast dinner, but no problem We popped in Sunday 23rd June for a roast dinner, having an open mind on if we would be happy with our choice, we had no need to worry, I picked Roast Beef, and my husband picked Lamb, I got 3 thick slices of beef with horsradish sauce, yorkshire pudding roast potatos to die for , carrots and broccoli, veg was al-dente, just as it should be and the beef melted in my mouth, my husband had roast lamb with mint sauce he asked for yorkshire pudding and got it, and it was all lovely including the thick very tasty gravy, Sorrento's we will be back on sunday again, it was well worth the value and quality and not short on quantity either, we couldnt eat a pudding cause we were bloated. but a coffee went down well. defineatly 10 out of 10

We went there today for the first time. Excellent, authentic Italian food; great service. Surprised to find such a super place in Stroud. We'll be back!

Had a fantastic time here, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. A special mention to our waiter Andrea who served us for dinner both nights and was incredibly welcoming and attentive to us tourists. We will definitely be back!

Excellent meal. Staff were efficient, pleasant and courteous. The food was delicious, and the prices for the lunchtime menu very reasonable indeed! I shall go again next time I’m in this area.

Very authentic family owned restaurant with an amazing array of dishes, plenty to choose from and satisfy even the pickiest of children. Food was excellent and despite over-ordering all we eat everything as it was so good. Try and save room for desserts as these were brilliant too! If are staying in the area again we would definitely go back for more. Thanks for a great experience

Our family had a fantastic meal here today. The garlic bread was delicious as were all main courses especially the spaghetti bolognaise . Staff were attentive and we had a very enjoyable lunch. Portions were very generous

We dined at this restaurant on the 17th of May 2021 - the first night we were allowed to eat inside again post lockdown 2. We are a family of 6 and we all had 3 courses and it was excellent quality, presentation and taste. They treat you like Kings and Queens - the service is fantastic. The added bonus is that the staff are good looking too! If you are debating whether to book, don't think about it anymore and give them a call now - they get so busy! We are definitely returning :-)

First time visiting sorrento’s as I read amazing reviews and it Definitely lived up to expectations! Food was absolutely delicious and there was such a lovely friendly atmosphere. The limoncello was a perfect way to end a perfect evening. Will be sure to visit again soon!!

Ordered takeaway pasta and pizza this evening. Food cooked to order and ready when they said it would be. Great pizza, nice thin and crispy crust and just the right amount of topping. Pasta Arriabata was delicious. All good value for money and great quality.

Habiendo completado una larga caminata por el circuito de Slad Valley, sentí una clara necesidad de sobrecarga de carbohidratos. La solución más simple que se me ocurrió fue aplastar una especie de plato de pasta. Hice una búsqueda en la red y encontré a Sorrento, como el italiano más cercano. Entré sin esperar mucho, ya que Stroud difícilmente se considera un centro de excelencia culinaria. La primera sorpresa fue lo amable que fue el personal, honestamente puedo decir que no podrían haber hecho más para que nos sintiéramos bienvenidos y cómodos. La segunda sorpresa fue el extenso menú, que incluía una amplia variedad de platos de carne, todos los cuales sonaban apetitosos. Opté por el Spaghetti Carbonara, ya que el plato que quería en un primer momento se había acabado. Me decepcionó un poco tener que sustituir Carbonara, ya que había tenido el otro plato en mi mente durante la mayor parte de la caminata de Slad.El plato llegó y se presentó de manera impresionante y claramente había sido cocinado con ingredientes de calidad. Honestamente puedo decir que la carbonara de Sorrento fue uno de los mejores platos italianos que he probado en mi vida. Me sorprendió la pura excelencia del plato, ya que de nuevo no era algo que esperaba encontrar en Stroud. Habiendo quedado satisfecho con mi plato principal, decidí disfrutar de los profiteroles caseros, que resultaron ser igualmente impresionantes. En general, mi experiencia fue muy placentera y no dudo en recomendar este pequeño descubrimiento excepcional. Sin duda volveré en un futuro próximo.

Llegué tarde en la noche para una comida rápida después de jugar a los bolos, y fue recibido por un personal amable que explicó el toque de queda actual. Teníamos una hora para comer y partir, pero el personal no nos hizo sentir prisa y nos ofreció entrantes, postres y café. Los camareros eran conversadores y conversaban con nosotros. Ambos comimos pizza que estaba deliciosa y una gran porción. Definitivamente regresaremos a este restaurante cuando esté en la zona cuando podamos disfrutar de una comida más larga.

Had a meal here. Starter was lovely. Had bruscetta and husband had meat plate, was massive. Had pasta and then a really nice banoffee pie. Would defo recommend going here. Was really busy so best to book so you dont end up disappointed

Hay una muy buena selección de platos de pasta y pizzas y también una excelente selección de budines. También hay una tabla de ofertas especiales, por lo que también hay algo de variedad a diario.El personal fue genial. Andrea especialmente fue excelente, muy amable y llena de recomendaciones. Aceptamos su sugerencia de visitar Bibury y no nos decepcionó.

Everything about our first visit was good, and considering we were all struggling with Covid19 restrictions at the time, they were managing things very well. Very typically Italian, with good service, very attentive to their customers, bustling activity, good food with a good choice for both carnivores and vegetarians

Had a fantastic meal at Sorrento. Our table wasn't ready so we had a brief wait outside as they cleared due to social distancing which was reassuring. Once seated the staff were attentive but you didn't feel rushed. The surroundings are pleasant. Our drinks were taken and served whilst we chose our meals. The food we had was amazing. Could not fault it at all. It was all hot and good portion sizes. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Me and my friends went for a meal, bare in mind there are 4 of us all under 16. We were treated amazingly and with respect. We all enjoyed our food and we totally recommend it.

I went with my girlfriend on the first week of the eat out to help out scheme and after going to the restaurant many times before was excited about this trip. However after some time we noticed more and more tables were being served before us who had arrived later than us, after an hour in the restaurant the waiter came over to us to give a basic apologise and that they had forgotten to give the kitchen our order.There was no offer of any discount or free drinks just a basic apology with no timings of when our food would arrive, eventually after an hour and a half of waiting our starters arrived.Has put me off going to the restaurant again could only imagine my anger if we had paid full price for the service as well. Couldn’t even order desserts as the restaurant was closing by the time we had our mains.

We pre-booked the restaurant whilst on a short holiday in the Cotswolds and were not disappointed, The staff were very friendly, the food was served up very fast, and was excellent quality and taste. Without a doubt, one of the best Italian restaurants that we have ever visited. Only problem is that we do not live near Stroud!

We had an exceptionally nice lunch here for a family birthday. Delicious food across all three courses, authentic Italian menu & atmosphere, and also, importantly, we felt very safe in the new covid era. Highly recommended by grandparents and grandchildren alike!

Anyone leaving a bad review about this restaurant and its staff are talking BS, Great food , great staff and great atmosphere, what more do you want ? We've been going here for years and never had a bad meal , in fact if we are eating in town we wont go anywhere else , and they have "best eatery in stroud " awards to back me up , well worth a visit and fool you if you dont

Went here as a treat on our trip to the area. Diet Coke had no taste and watered down when we said something we were told we were wrong but we were offered other drinks. The starters were ok. We all had pizzas they were undercooked and tasteless. Toppings dumped on. 2 of our party had goats cheese that tasted very strong and disgusting. Due the response about the coke we just picked it off. The hand sanitiser also appeared to be watered down. On the way home we had to pull over for the people who had had the goats cheese to vomit. They bothed continued to be ill for the remainder of the evening! We have reported them the food standards agency.Our advice DON’T EAT HERE!

My family and I decided to go out to dinner to experience the ‘eat out to help out’ deal. As with every time we have visited, we were blown away by the friendliness, the quality and the lovely atmosphere of Sorrento. Despite the busy service and our table of seven, all meals were cooked to perfection and the service was impossible to criticise, it was flawless. I would highly recommend! Thank you to the lovely team at Sorrento for a wonderful evening!

The price is very very reasonable for great food and atmosphere is very very pleasant. Anyone who is into Italian food needs to come and try it out. The staff are extremely efficient and very friendly, they go out fo their way to make sure you have a good time.

I visited Sorrento’s whilst on a trip to stroud with my family, the good reviews had us very excited for a delicious italian! Upon our arrival we were seated and waited around twenty minutes to even get a drink ordered a.... a bad start.It then proceeded to take a further 2 hours for our food to arrive (19.30-21.30) but this was excusable as the restaurant was incredibly busy and you could see the waiters were being very much overworked. I ordered a carbonara that looked delicious at first but upon first bite i soon realised it was ENTIRELY flavourless, this was easily resolved as there was salt and pepper on the table so by adding some it had become far more edible. However, i soon came to realise that the carbonara was completely covered in oil and completely missing the cream cream as a carbonara usually should have, the middle/bottom section of the pasta was soaked in oil and left a totally oily residue in my mouth and on my lips. It was inedible!!! I was throughly disappointed by this as we had waited so long and i could only eat about 2 or 3 forkfuls of my meal. However, the other members of my group had the linguine and penne con funghi e pollo, which were all thoroughly enjoyed! The lasagne was slightly burnt but still enjoyable.This was a disappointing experience with Sorrento’s for me as there were such fantastic reviews but it didn’t perform as well as i had hoped.

We very much enjoyed our visit to Sorrento restaurant. There was an extensive menu, plus specials to choose from. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly and professional. We shall return again when we next visit Stroud.

We returned to Sorrentos last night, for the first time since before lockdown, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted in the same usual, very friendly manner by the staff and enjoyed yet another superb meal. The food was its usual high standard and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, which ranged from veal to chicken to pizza. The staff were very attentive and courses were served at exactly the right times.Due to social distancing, the tables were spaced out much more than before, but this did not detract from our experience at all and it felt very much like a 'normal' night out. There were not too many people in the restaurant and we hope that people return to support the lovely staff of Sorrentos as soon as possible, to ensure the continued service of their excellent business in Stroud.

just had an absolutely superb takeaway, we had our favourite meal, pepe nero fillet steak, tasted the same as if you were eating it in their great restaurant. 10 out of 10.

Myself and my husband were staying locally in Stroud as we were going to Cheltenham festival, and came across this lovely restaurant when we left the train station. Food and service was fantastic, so much so we went back a second time! Pasta, fish, meatballs, vegetables were all fantastic and good quality wine. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks guys, look forward to visiting next year!

Sorrentos Stroud had a huge refurbishment late last year, now virtually twice the size. Superb decor,furnishings, and lovely background operatic music. Booked a table for 7-00 pm, restaurant became very busy quickly. The main course was very tasty and generous. Desserts were a real treat and delicious. Staff friendly, efficient, and smartly dressed. A mixture of couples, families, and a lovely atmosphere. Have been twice before refurbishment, and now even better. Well done Sorrentos.

Was very excited about a great Italian meal looking at all the reviews. But much to our horrible disappointment the food was absolutely appalling. It was a Friday afternoon..May be the chef was not around leaving it all to this one guy who was literally running around, who was extremely apologetic looking at our almost full plates that we could hardly touch.. But in the end it was a horrible experience with a significant dent to our wallets.

On the basis of a recommendation from local friends we all met to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Excellent, attentive service combined with exquisite food. Definitely worth a visit! Well done guys - we had a great evening!

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. Friendly and welcoming staff, lovely freshly cooked and extremely tasty food. Without a doubt the best tasting pizza I have ever had. Husband always enjoys the calamari aswell. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I love Sorrento, jet and his brother are always so welcoming on arrival, make the effort to talk to you and the food is beautiful. My partner & I always get the muscles as they are gorgeous. The seafood linguine is also to die for.

Have been many times to Sorrento and never mentions how great it is and same excellent food and service and great ambiance. Love the offer of limoncello at the end of the meal. I cannot recommendation this place enough...

We were under time pressure to see a show at the Sub Rooms. Ordered a pizza and a risotto. Great service and the food was excellent. The restaurant has been going for a long time and they are still making improvements and setting high standards. Stroud is lucky to have a long standing family business that serves great food at a reasonable price.

Just had an amazing dinner with my husband. The food was absolutely superb and the service was faultless as always. I would highly recommend a visit as the atmosphere and hospitality are second to none.

i really love italian however on this occasion i had the tagliatelle not much sign of any cream and mushrooms were inedible the deserct creme caramel was nice but being an ex chef myself for 21 years i think it was bought it the main course was lukewarm and to be fair was on a cold plate

Pleasantly surprised! Not a pasta or pizza person I was really surprised by the amount of other super tasty options. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive but never pushy or rushing you out. The veg that accompanies a main could be a bit better but honestly the food is excellent. I highly recommend the bruschetta - it’s amazing!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends who were treating me as I help them as a Computer Buddy at the local Library. The grilled sea bass fillet with salad was extremely good and the dessert was delicious. All for a very reasonable price for two courses for £10.95.

Enjoyed a fabulous impromptu meal with friends. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I had the tagliatelle Monte e Mare which was cooked to perfection, with plenty of mushrooms and prawns in a white wine sauce. All our meals were tasty and freshly cooked. A real gem of an independent restaurant.

Visited with friends. Too many dishes on menu, resulting in disappointing quality. Small portions, food bland and less than average quality. Advised manager but not dealt with satisfactorily. We would have ordered a dessert had he addressed our concerns better. What a disappointment!

Had an excellent lunch ,both chose pasta dishes which were delicious and well presented. A lovely authentic Italian with great service in a beautifully decorated restaurant. A definite must try. Will definitely return soon.

We visited on a Saturday evening and got a table despite not booking. The restaurant soon filled with people and groups of all ages and size. Our waiter was fast and efficient. The food was delicious, we opted for olives to start which were enormous then pizzas and weren't disappointed. They also serve non alcoholic lager. The bathrooms were clean and very stylish. It was very enjoyable and we will go back again

Our fourth visit to Sorrento - loved it the first time and the second, third and tonight. Really friendly and warm service throughout and the food is absolutely amazing every time! Can’t rate this restaurant highly enough- and I’m a fussy foodie so it must be good ! Had Pizza for the first time tonight as always love the prawn pasta dish ( so had that as a starter) - Huge and such wonderful flavours! Calamari is to die for! So impressed that we have had great food every visit. Nice that the owners took time out to chat with us! Can’t wait to go again!

Great service considering how busy the restaurant is. Food is good but not great wine list is overpriced. Pizza to lamb shank... food might be better with a more restricted menu or less busy. Average Pulia at £24 a bottle is expensive. Anyway great evening but has to be good food and poor drink made up a bit by good service.

We booked a table for 9 adults and 1 baby at the last minute on a Wednesday night. The staff couldn't have been more helpful even bringing out the baby's meal earlier than everyone else's so she didnt have to wait.

Attended as a family party of 11, warm welcome and shown our table. Order taken and food arrived quickly. Fresh and hot. The whole family really happy with their choices. Would return if in the area again. Lovely meal.

Visited the restaurant in a group of 16, we had issues with people dropping out at the last minute but the staff at Sorrento’s were very helpful and understanding.

Delicious Italian dishes with amazing ambiance. Very friendly staff and comfortable seating. All seafood are yummy and fresh, proper Italian pastas and risottos. We are a big family of 10 people (plus a small dog) and they accommodated us all. Everyone loved their dish and the desserts are out of this world. Highly recommended! Will definitely come back for more.

I had the traditional spaghetti and meatballs with extra grilled mushrooms. Found the choices of wine by the cup limited and not a very good pairing. A Chianti choice would have been nice. Food was good. I recommend the char-grilled sardine appetizer; the tartar sauce is homemade and delicious.

Great place with decent food portions! The Calamari was well-cooked, the Quatro Stagioni (chef’s special listed in the menu) tasted strongly of corns (but I actually like them) and the lobster in the Lobster Linguine (written on the specials chalkboard) was a little old&tough.; However the friendly staff and the atmosphere wrapped up the evening into a lovely experience overall, thank you.

Called in for lunch on what we thought would be a busy Saturday but found the place very quiet with tables to spare. A shame, people don't know what they are missing! The three of us had an excellent two course lunch for £10.95 each (3 courses for £13.95). Nothing felt cut price: options included sea bass, breaded chicken fillet & pizza margarita with 3 additional toppings. Desserts were pannacotta, tiramisu and chocolate souffle. Service was slick and efficient, and the food excellent. Tasted like real Italian food unlike that from the chain restaurants. I spoke to the waiter at the end - they had 160 booked in for dinner that night. That is more like the Sorrento we know and love!

A delightful and delicious evening in Sorrento. The food was delicious and the service unassuming but perfect. Pasta Risotto. Pinot Grigio and sisters a perfect combination

Great pizza! Sorrento provided our family a welcome break from British pub food. Nice deserts as well!
