Sorrento Formby in Sefton

We booked this restaurant for my 60th birthday and there were 17 of us and the staff made the whole experience special and enjoyable from start to finish.Therer were a couple of people with special dietary needs and they were catered for very well with no fuss at all.Everybody was made to feel special and at ease. There was a wide age range from babies to people in their late 80s and everyone is so well looked after. Special mention to Anna who keeps everything working like clockwork she works so hard to make the day go smoothly and makes sure everyone is happy.She cut the cake for us and served it beautifully at the end of the meal. Al of the waiters are fantatsic and cheerful. The restaurant is very clean and well organised and the choices of drinks are also excellent. The other great think is the mneu is so extensive with plenty of choice that everyone is spolied for choice as to what to eat.I find that some restaurants now have quite limited menus but Sorrentos literally has everything you could want and everybody commented on how tasty the food was. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Booked for a table of 18 for a birthday celebration from start to finish it was an exceptional experience they are so accommodating and the staff go above and beyond to meet everyone’s needs. The food is absolutely amazing can’t wait for our next visit. You guys are amazing thank you so much

We went to Sorrento to celebrate an 88th and a 30th birthday , there was 13 of us and I had explained the importance of it to the team prior to us arriving .To say they made the whole experience very special would be an understatement !! from the minute we arrived until we left they really looked after us , the service and food were exceptional , the team were efficient , friendly and really good fun and the whole evening was very special so thank you so much . This is a family business who do an amazing job so please ensure you support them .

Amazing service and food they even catered special for my kids who have asd and are fussy eaters and I’ve never seen them both eat so much. The food was unbelievable and the staff were even nicer. This was the first time going as a family as we don’t take the kids out much due to food normally going to waste. After an amazing experience we can’t wait to go back and will definitely be making this a regular place for us as a family. Thank you so much for everything.

Went to sorrento yesterday evening. First time, we had a lovely evening. Friendly and warm atmosphere, food 😋 everything was super tasty. My husband had ribs that melted in your mouth. All the waiters and waitress Friendly and you didn't have to wait long for anything. The waitress/ possibly manager was brilliant at her job. Friendly and welcoming nothing to much trouble. We will definitely be back.

Sorrento provides consistently high end Italian food with attentive service and excellent drinks. The staff are all of Italian descent and os the epitome of authentic. It’s certainly the best restaurant in Formby.

My wife and I dined at Sorrento last evening for my birthday meal. Everything was faultless: the food, the decor, the genuine Italian ambience and particularly the welcome. Our meat dishes were cooked and presented to perfection and came with individual portions of nicely prepared vegetables. We hope to return!

Had a family meal at Sorrento and could not fault it. Food was delicious, staff friendly and attentive and the ambience was relaxed and not noisy. Would thoroughly recommend.

This was our third visit here in less than 12 months, this time I felt standards have dropped dramatically especially since the first 2 visits left us feeling that as just customers we had been treated as 'special' to say nothing of the food which was we felt 'out of this world' So this time was a looked forward to occasion, celebrating a birthday. This was a lunch time visit, so the place was very quiet. While most of the staff I recognised from previous visits, there wasn't quite the same 'friendliness' .. yes there were polite and professional, but I'd expect that in any establishment of this standard, but that 'going beyond' the polite and professional that we experienced previously was definitely missing As to the food, the salmon was very good but the sirloin was very how I'd describe as very average. If this had been a first visit, then it would also very likely be our last as there was little that made us feel we wanted to return soon Maybe visits from various 'celebrities' at recent the Southport Flower Show have gone to their head I don't know. But what topped off a disappointing lunch was - no coffee, an Italian restaurant with no coffee!!! I had particularly looked forward to a dessert that included a measure of espresso. We left feeling very underwhelmed

Sorrento's is consistently outstanding - and Saturday was no exception. Given the unexpected September sun we made a late decision at peak time on Saturday to see if Luciano could squeeze the two of us on a table outside (with Gwladys our miniature daschund). Not a problem. Staff were as friendly and accommodating as ever (including tips on where and when to stay in Sicily which we're considering next month). Antipasto sharing board is astonishingly good value at £18 - with probably enough for four people let alone two. Gambas piri piri are wonderfully tasty and the Seafood ravioli excellent. Wine list is good but given the weather I drank Peroni. Antipasto, two main courses, couple of drinks - all for £65. We've spent a lot more here in the past, but it all depends what mood you're in. But then Sorrento's caters for all occasions. Enthusiastically recommended.

Sorrento is our family favourite restaurant, we go at least once a week, the food is always 10/10 and the staff are just on another level, they are all amazing. Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thanks for always giving the best service guys

We’ve travelled Italy over the past 14 years. We know the difference between an English version of an “ Italian meal” and an Italian meal. I had ad a seafood linguine pasta. The base stock tasted of seafood . Full of flavour. Reasonably priced. Great service. Helpful and friendly staff.
