First visit. We sat in the small bar area but noticed that all the other diners on the day sat in a lounge opposite. The bar is cosy, perhaps the difference was table service in the lounge but as we were the only ones in the bar we in effect also got table service! Lunch was only from the set 2/3 course menu. Staff very friendly and helpful. We ordered whitebait and sweet potato hash as starters, both were done well. Mains were the rump steak (an additional £4) and fishcakes (trout and haddock, perhaps an odd mixture but moreish ). Quality excellent. The steal local and dry aged, cooked exactly to liking, and really was tasty and tender, came with 2 eggs! The 2 fishcakes were equally excellent. In all a filling lunch! Because we sat in the bar the service charge was only added to the food element - what a great example of good hospitality. Would return.

Called into this hotel for lunch today. They have a la carte or a fixed menu for 2 or 3 courses. We went for 2 courses. We had fish and chips, superbly cooked. My husband had apply and berry cumble & custard. Crumble was a dusting of mostly flour (uncooked), custard thin. I had sticky toffee pudding. Very light, lacked the richness usually associated with this pudding, perhaps dates were lacking. Drinks. Brilliant real ale, and a beautifully light good quality pinot grigot. So, as I said in my title - hit and miss.

Visited Glastonbury whilst on a weeks break in Crewkerne. Popped into to this lovely cafe as it was dog friendly. Forgetting my glasses I asked if they catered for gluten free, they did (it stated it on the menu). As I ordered the lady behind the counter asked if I was coeliac, I told her I was. When the food was brought to the table, the lady explained that she had cleaned the kitchen and prepared my food using all new unopened ingredients. All I had was a corned beef and onion sandwich, but the attention to detail was second to none. Really recommend this place to coeliacs and non coeliacs.

Consistently good. IF you've had a bad experience of this place, you've been VERY unlucky.

On our recent visit to Glastonbury we were delighted to see The Old Tannery still trading, we had been previously when it was the Bocobar. Thankfully it was every bit as good as we remembered. Food was excellent but their staff deserve utmost praise, everyone we dealt with we so professional without being stuffy, it has a lovely friendly casual vibe and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal.
