Absolutely first class service. They staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is excellent with a wide choice. The restraint is very clean and has a welcoming atmosphere, will definitely be going back soon

The only reason I am giving 2* is because of the ambience.Not at all worth for the money. Tasteless over oily and didn’t feel like live food/freshness. Tried the chicken hyderabadi biriyani , it’s not at all the real hyderabadi taste , quantity is there but no quality of food . Then ordered tandoor chicken and rotti but received butter naan instead of rotti . Tandoori is flavour less and not well cooked properly Then ordered fish and chips for kids, that little better than the other food Ambience is good , parking facilities are there Not suggesting for a good Indian spices

A little getting around needed to get to the location but very good atmosphere inside. Way too long to get the ordered food. I had a headache from the wait. Naans were good. Biryani was a little too burnt out. Can do much better. I didn't have it but our group said the tea was excellent. Soda with lime sugar was barely anything like it. One of the chicken curries was sweet! (Pictured by itself in the photos) And the lamb curry we ordered was extra spicy. Service was constant with waiters coming to check frequently. So that was good. They didn't refill the water jugs enough though. Mojito was way too diluted and barely had any alcohol. They charge 2.50£ for onions 😆

We ate here this evening, decided to stop in at Taunton on our way home for some food and saw it from the side of the road. After a quick google we decided to go in. We were given our choice of seats on arrival, staff were very friendly and attentive and we were quickly served drinks and popadoms while we looked through the menu. There was a great selection to choose trom and our orders were taken promptly. Food arrived quickly with the perfect amount of time between starters and mains. The food itself was phenomenal, undoubtedly the nicest Indian my husband and I have had. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. I don't normally leave reviews but left this evening feeling compelled to due to the flawless service and fantastic food, we would actually travel from Plymouth to come back here again.

We ordered food from this restaurant an hour ago and unfortunately we didn't get two things 1. Bottle of Coke and popadoms. We find this very unprofessional and deceitful. I do not recommend this restaurant and I will never order anything again

We arrived here 9.45pm it was empty apart from one couple so we thought oh no! But the waiters were so friendly and attentive, nicely decorated. Food was amazing, so different from other restaurants even chutneys were tasty. Definitely recommend 👌

A restaurant that has stopped in time. Outdated decor and service. Food quality and presentation OK. Even though advertised as 'Fine dining,' it is clearly not. Fine dining is not just serving smaller portions! Lol

Very disappointing!!!!! Phoned to amend order but when it arrived it hadn't been amended. Also there were items missing from the order. A whole main meal was missing! Definitely not worth 39 pounds!!!! Will not be ordering from this place again! 😔

Fantastic Indian food some new things I have never seen before. Plenty of parking and easy access off the motorway junction. Staff were helpful but had a little trouble getting our drinks correct. Really nice touch to have hot plates to put the food on, also all our dishes arrived at the same time and absolutely piping hot.

Honestly I didn’t think a meal from here given the past owners was going to be good but WOW - what a fantastic dinner - beautifully spiced, flavoursome and delicious. I’m only sorry we hadn’t tried them before as the other Indian restaurants I’ve reviewed in Taunton before have sadly declined in quality. Well done chef fabulous cooking - thank you!

Strange buffet set up, stating all you can eat but you order from the menu. Was also told you can take it home even though I had paid for the food. Food was pretty decent, keema nann I have had way better, lacked meat. Not much atmosphere. Service ok the staff didn't always understand communicating was a bit hard work I found when asking how the buffet works. Will have to think about returning as better Indians locally which are also better.

Used to go here as our go to Indian but it has went downhill. Food quality and service on our last visit was one of the worst I have experienced. They accused us of not paying and said the transaction failed, hounding us out side. We then had to show receipts and bank statements and still didn’t believe us. Avoid and go to a better Indian!

Service very slow, took ages for food or drinks or the bill to come. Polite staff but couldn't handle the orders sufficiently.

Good venue, staff were lovely however it took too long for food to be ordered and consequently didn't arrive until an hour and a half after booking time. Although we were a large party the restaurant wasn't busy.

A little disappointed as we turned up at 16:20pm, having booked this time on the website, to find it wasn't open until 17:00pm. Website times are incorrect. We then returned at 17:00pm. Fantastic service and food, we were pleased we waited.

Nice place, great staff but am afraid your food is not up to standards in regards to flavour texture not authentic flavour Currys etc..

Second time visiting Somerset Masala, service is really good and friendly staff, food has always been really nice and flavourful. This time I had an issue with my Bhuna being extremely spicy but was very quickly resolved by the staff, no trouble, so I am very grateful for that. Will be returning soon.

We tried this restaurant after driving by it a couple of times and combined it with a cinema trip. The service from the outset was excellent: professional and attentive, but not over-bearing. The food is amazing! We have been back and tried different dishes, all were lovely - tasty and great quality. The restaurant is nicely presented, clean and spacious. We will certainly be back more regularly. Thank you Mark & the team! 😊

Everything perfect value for money good customer service lovely food

Absolutely appalling place! No service, never mind bad service. We booked for 7.30, sat for 45 minutes with no sight of a single waiter even thinking of coming near our table. We werent even able to place our drinks order! Food was being served to others albeit incredibly slowly. Some people had managed to order drinks and the table next to us waited the entire 45 mins we were there just to get 2 drinks and hadn't even ordered food yet. There were at least 5 staff members in the restaurant but none of them were actually doing anything useful but standing around and occasionally taking a dish to a table. At 8.15, still no sign of a waiter coming to us so we decided to leave. We weren't the only ones looking decidedly annoyed at the massive waiting times, the place wasn't even busy, no more than 7 or 8 tables. A group of ladies got up to pay their bill and were still standing waiting to pay at the bar 20 minutes later. It wasn't until we got up and put our coats on that 1 staff member came over, no apologies nothing. Just walked off when we said we were leaving. So unless you fancy a trip to Taunton just to drive home again hungry and thirsty then I would not bother. Will definitely not be coming here again.

I’ve been here three times this week. The food here is delicious, and the service very attentive and friendly. I will continue to eat here on a weekly basis. Not easy to access from the main road, would imagine if foot traffic and parking was improved this place would get far more business.

Lovely food Dropped in for a late dinner Thursday night. Portion size was perfect plenty of food for your money. Ordered chicken tikka hot, perfect spice and flavour chicken was very well cooked. Aloo sag again very good side, nice size potato piece’s. Nanna and rice. Couldn’t fault the food or the service.

We arrived early but that wasn't a problem, the welcome was still there: the starters were ordered, cooked and served then the orders for mains were taken and cooked fresh. There were 3 in our party and i just about had room for dessert!

We dropped in here without any expectation and it was a pleasant experience. The ambience was very nice. The service was awesome and the very friendly team has made the dining experience a very memorable one. The food was very tasty and overall a very satisfying experience. I will definitely visit and highly recommend.

I would give a 0 if I could, I ordered popadoms and assorted chutneys for my starters. The mint sauce which I’ve tried everywhere else has lots of flavour but the one I tried at Somerset masala was disgusting and bland. I then ordered chicken tikka masala and egg fried rice. The egg rice came out cold and tasted sour. Don’t even get me started on the chicken tikka masala it tasted like it was straight from Tesco’s into the microwave drizzled with cream to make it look presentable. I was also chewing the chicken and it was very undercooked. My boyfriend had to go to the toilet halfway through our meal to be sick as the food was that disgusting. If you’re looking for a nice Indian place avoid Somerset masala at all costs overpriced and disgusting 🤢

1st class service Top quality food and extremely professional, and personable staff. Great choice, had food delivered to my hotel room, prompt, food hot and delicious. Truly excellent food, exquisite flavour and everything cooked to perfection. The sauces were flavourful and meats were tender, a little spicy but overflowing with nuance and adventure. Service was friendly and professional

Excellent restaurant. We were a group of seven and were very well attended. The staff were friendly and always available, the space was very pleasant and the food was simply divine. An experience to repeat when you're feeling like Indian food. I recommend it to anyone who wants to taste the true flavour of Indian food.

Lovely meal tonight. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as reviews were a bit patchy! however it proved to be a delicious meal, all 3 main courses were served hot and beautifully spiced. We eat Indian quite a lot and were impressed. Service was good too. The restaurant lacks atmosphere unfortunately but we were there on a Sunday and so it was probably quieter than unusual. Anyhow we would recommend!

I had a disappointing experience at the restaurant. The manager's rudeness was off-putting, overshadowing the ambiance. The manager was not even ready to take orders of any extra naan breads needed and commented saying its not a typical Indian restaurant where you can keep ordering extra stuff after main order has been placed. Additionally, the food was very poorly prepared, leaving a bad taste in my mouth and moreover the quantity was like a child’s portion, especially for the starters. To make matters worse, there was a mistake in the billing. It reflected a lack of attention to detail and customer service. Overall, my visit was marred by an unpleasant encounter with the manager, unappetizing dishes, and billing errors.

The owner and staffs are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was peaceful and lots of parking lot. But the most important is the food. Best in town especially biryani. Big potion and highly recommended for those who travel to taunton. The price was reasonable with the menu.

Food is tasty and plenty, nice atmosphere

I can hand on heart say I haven't had a better Indian dining experience. The staff were kind, courteous and amazing with our 3 & 7 year olds. The food was a on a whole different level. Everything tasted amazing. Literally everything, even the poppadoms tasted devine! You want amazing Indian food get yourself down there!

Lovely place, delicious food, nice cleanliness.

The restaurant looks good when you enter, tables and ambience. The service was mediocre with the server refused to get us drinks on the menu because he didn't know they existed. When those drink arrived we wished we had never ordered them. They were all bottled drinks which we couldn't have instead of the fresh drinks we had asked for. Starters veg platter was literally 1 piece each, too flaky and oily. Main course, bhindi was undercooked, veg mix was the only exception, contributing to the 2 stars. Breads were okay.

We have used this restaurant previously when in Taunton and a couple of times since new owners took over and renamed it Somerset Masala. It was excellent before and arguably even better now. The waiting staff are the same individuals and are very very good. The menu is wide ranging,the atmosphere relaxed and they do not rush you The food is top notch and well presented as well as being delicious and great value for money. In fact it is" Lick The Plate good !"

Beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. Food was great. Service excellent, but we were the only ones in for lunch. Big building to heat, so I was cold but we were asked if we would like to move to sit nearer a heater which we did.

Absolutely disgusting food. Dirty environment. The chicken tikka masala was disgusting. The rice was dry and the chicken tikka chat was not chicken tikka chat. The place should be closed down. And the fact that all the chefs illegally live in a caravan tucked behind the restaurant begs the question of there hygiene. Would love to see the kitchen. Been reported to council and environmental health

This was our first visit and won't be our last. The food was very tasty and individual, service great, nothing was too much. If you haven't visited this restaurant, you must try it out.

Decent curry and really good mango lassi (large size and not too sweet). Staff were friendly and welcoming. Main downside is a little pricey.

Visited recently Jan 2023 not a buffet any more just a normal restaurant, but very expensive now , a pint of lager nearly £6.00 to add icing to the cake , on the menu at the bottom in very very tiny writing it states a service charge of 5% will be added to your bill !!!! Now I'm not a tight wad if the service and food was good I always leave a tip , but I'll be damned if I'm forced to , when the bill arrived I queried the charge and said I'm not paying it ( please note a service charge is not mandatory and not inforceable ) the waiter took the bill away and came back with a menu pointing out the charge I explained it was not inforcable to which the manager turned up and said I must pay , I tried to explain it was certainly not inforceable but he kept on insisting , to which I payed my bill excluding 5% , please note what they are doing is illegal service charge is only voluntary if you've received good service

Absolutely amazing food the cheapest Indian in Taunton the staff are very helpful and very polite, very quick service with such a friendly atmosphere not forgetting I told them I was part of the NHS staff and showed them my badge and got a big discount even though it’s the cheapest in town highly recommend this service with this company
