Somerset Masala Indian Restaurant in Taunton Deane

Very Disappointed Absolutely nothing impressive here. Despite the claim of offering a wide variety, around 80% of the food is Indian cuisine. The assortment of Japanese, Thai, and grilled items is extremely poor. The "grill" section is just chicken—nothing else. I expected much more variety and quality. Definitely not worth the hype.

We visited other buffet restaurants in the past and Somerset Buffet is our first time and certainly not the last. Quality food and service is priority and will be recommending to friends and family

Staff are some of the best I have come across in restaurants. Very tentative friendly and you will always get a warm welcome here. Food is ample, fresh and tasty.

First visit here…very impressed with staff and range of food available. Clean restaurant area and clean toilets. Plenty of room to eat and drink. Lots of parking including disabled parking spaces. Full disability access throughout. Reasonable price for Buffett and drinks. Buffet was hot and topped up regularly by staff. Highly recommend

The best Buffett around I’ve been to many locally and the food here is always fresh the staff are super friendly and welcoming it’s always a great experience and well worth the money

Have been twice and both times the food has been delicious. So much choice but it's all well cooked and the selection is great too. There really is something for everyone. Happy to recommend and will definitely be going for a 3rd trip too!

First time we visited today. Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We loved the choice of food on offer. We will be back with family and friends in the future.

I loved the experience, they had a great variety of foods although i would like some more options of the Japanese food, the music was quite great, and the service was impeccable. Me and my family went there for my mom’s birthday and the staff made sure to make her day very special with birthday music and helped to bring in the cake… Honestly I quite liked the place, great for special occasions!

Amazing meal was mum’s birthday and the brought out a piece of cake and sang we didn’t ask for this but was pleasantly surprised and was lovely ! Amazing staff very fast and efficient

Absolutely incredible! Came with my dad and they let our dogs in too. We couldnt believe how spotlessly clean it was, how delicious the food was, the choice of food, the extras you can order and everything included in the price. Gave a well deserved tip. 5 *****! Loved it! And when it's your birthday they play some bangers!

Probably the best buffet I’ve eaten at. All the food was really tasty, well cooked and aesthetically pleasing. Staff were very friendly and polite, sweet and sour were a definite favourite followed by the lamb tikka and chicken chowmein. If I had any gripe what so every it was the food wasn’t replenished very quickly but we were there at lunch time and it was fairly quiet so that’s understandable. But over all definitely a 5 out of 5 and the best in the area by a long way. Came back a second time over Christmas 2024 and probably even better than the 1st time I went. It really is amazing food and outstanding value fir money Came back a 3rd time in April and still absolutely gorgeous

Arrived for lunch, met by someone at the door, all very polite. Food was a good selection and I went for the second plateful, washed down with an ice pint of Cobra. Left feeling very happy and very full. Definitely come back.

Came with a group of work friends on Friday,25 April, with an open mind, having read some reviews. We were all most impressed with the attentiveness of the owners,who were most polite and helpful. Food on the whole way fine,it's a buffet,not fine cuisine,which maybe some guests expect! I enjoyed it and would most definitely come again. Thank you.

Amazing variety of food well cooked, and presented. Friendly and professional staff and best of all we got to make our own candy floss! The £20 charge is well worth it, Thai, Mexican Indian and Sushi as well as soups and made to order burgers and burritos. I'll definitely be back! If you are looking for a great place to eat with something for all the family you honestly can't go wrong!

all the food was dried out under the heat lamps, hardly any food, staff were making us feel uncomfortable by staring at us whilst we were eating, made us pay extra for dessert when last time it was free, drinks are vile and flat. do not recommend this place. Staff refused to bring out more food after 9 which is when we arrived and paid before we found out most of it was already empty!

Was very pleasantly surprised by the standard and selection of food, typically buffets food quality is poor but this was not the case. Service was attentive without overbearing. When back in the area would certainly revisit.

Visited with my partner for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by this place, having seen a lot of negativity particularly on Facebook. Being our first visit today, I can only assume that the staff have listened and acted on the complaints, because we were more than happy with the food, service and cleanliness we experienced today. The food was actually better than we expected for a buffet, particularly the Indian options - fresh poppadoms and full sized samosas? Very rare that I’ve seen that in a buffet setting. I also recommend the lamb curry. With all that said, I would urge people who are considering giving this place a shot to do so. We’re glad we did. I would say, though, I find that the Mexican options feel a little redundant and out of place with the rest of the cuisines on offer, and by far the least appetising, but of course that is just my personal feeling.

I had the biggest candy floss ever!

Went for my birthday yesterday 19th of APRIL with my family, 11 altogether. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was brilliant. My grandson ordered a burger , he said it was the best burger he had tasted.

Arif was very good as was the food. Always smiling, attentive and informative. We would definitely be back.

Not the best buffet,there's not a great deal to pick of really and most things taste very bland...worst dish was probably the chicken tikka massala which was more mild than the korma lol

Great little spot. The food is classic all you can eat, and not really my thing, but my kids love it and the staff are always very helpful and kind. If you're expecting gourmet, go elsewhere, but if you're expecting a good variety for the family it's a great spot. The staff are all so polite and helpful it really holds the place together.

Lovely place, Food is amazing however one only flaw is when busy you might be sat next to a stranger as if he/she was at your table.

Food was Highley enjoyable with a nice range, Something foreveryone. Really enjoyed the squid and quesadilas both were the best iv had in a long time. Staff were all very polite and helpful especially the manger who was very welcoming and checked on us throughout. Clean and tidy environment, we went at lunch time but so I belive the atmosphere would be better in the evening. Price was responsible and we will deffently be back.
