Returned back from holiday and fancied a curry so went to our local SOI. Services as per was good but not as good as it has been. The atmosphere was dull until music was put on towards the end of the meal. I can't fault the food as was excellent as per usual. Will always recommend the Keema Nan as full to the brim of meat. Mushroom rice was perfect and the curry I had chilli chicken was amazing if you're a fan of spice. I recommend SOI to anyone is Melton that is looking for fantastic food.

Very disappointed! Not a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered chicken tikka and the chicken was rubbery..Hard to cut. My son told the manager and was told he'd talk to the chef. Wouldn't go there again.

Visited SOI on a Saturday night with my wife. The atmosphere and service was good, as was the food. Will definitely be back next time we're in town.

Visited on a Saturday night with two friends. Quite a large restaurant which was about half full. Very friendly, prompt and helpful service. Food was all very tasty. The chili mushroom starter is pretty spicy and really nice. Lamb balti, Rogan Josh and Kormas also all very good. Would definitely visit again.

Great Chicken Manchurian as usual, Garlic naan was very thin and very greasy.

We enjoyed dining with friends at SOI on a previous visit to Melton, so we booked again. As it was a Tuesday evening it was not as busy as at a weekend. All the food was delicious, with generous helpings. The service was friendly, polite and efficient. The prices were very reasonable.The four of us had a very enjoyable evening and we will return.

We had a nightmarish experience at Spice of India in Melton Mowbray. The horror began as soon as we entered; despite having a booking, we were left standing for a torturous 20 minutes. To add insult to injury, another family, who arrived 10 minutes after us without a booking, was promptly seated. Whilst waiting to be acknowledged, we noticed the staff arguing amongst themselves, blaming eachother for things that were going wrong. This should have been our warning sign to leave! The nightmare escalated when our waiter spilled a scalding-hot curry on the floor, drenching my wife, our 6-month-old baby, and me. Shockingly, we were abandoned for a horrifying 10 minutes, soaked and ignored. It was an appalling display of neglect and incompetence that left us questioning the restaurant's commitment to basic customer care. In addition, the waiter who clumsily spilt the curry didn't even acknowledge our distress, let alone offer an apology. It was as if our discomfort meant nothing to him, leaving us feeling utterly disrespected as he continued serving the table behind us. The lack of basic courtesy only heightened the horror of an already dreadful dining experience. A complete disregard for customers' well-being is inexcusable and makes this establishment a place to avoid at all costs. Let me mention again, MY 6 MONTH OLD AND HIS PRAM WERE COVERED IN HOT CURRY! The lack of an apology or any attempt to address the situation reflects a gross disregard for customer safety. The Manager came out to speak with us after we created a fuss and could only offer us his apologies and comped our meal (which we had waited over an hour for and still hadn't received). We opted to take it home as we did not want to sit there drenched in curry. Upon reaching home, we discovered the Naan was missing and the Prawns were half cooked. The food like the experience was a disaster. The manager asked for our number so that he could call us back the following week. However, I missed the call. Upon calling back several times and leaving a voicemail, I never heard from him again. Hence resulting to leaving this review as the restaurant has to be held accountable for their negligence. Our hope is that others won't have to endure a similar traumatic experience in the future. And an expensive dry cleaning bill to get the curry stains off our brand new pram! In response to the management comment: We did not insist on sitting at a table by the kitchen. It was shown to us after I asked for somewhere quieter after the original table given to us. It is acceptable for service staff to come in and out of, there is no issue there. But the way your staff were rushing in and out, dropping cutlery etc, blaming eachother was not acceptable and of course bound to end in such 'accidents'. The fact it was a Saturday should have no importance. We booked in advance and mentioned we would have a pram, if it was not appropriate our booking should have not been accepted. The freshly cooked meal offered to us to take home was missing components of our order and was not cooked fully. So again not much of compensation for a very traumatic experience for new parents. The one member of staff was the only person who gave us 5 mins of her time. But all that was offered were 5 wet wipes. We were then left for 10 minutes with nothing else to clean ourselves with. My husband had to loose his temper to get some warm water and towels before anyone would actually listen to us. Yes we received the 2 missed calls for anytime after 4pm (no voicemail was received). And happend to be busy with my newborn at the exact time the calls came through. As soon as I was free my husband called back immediately and on subsequent days as well but did not get an answer. Despite leaving a voicemail, we haven't received a call back. Which is why I have resulted in leaving the review. There are also several negative reviews saying the exact same thing as we have experienced. Poor customer service and unattentive waiting staff.

Absolutely fantastic - we came from Sunderland and decided to go here for some food! Staff was so friendly upon arrival and though out our meal, if was also a great price, food was also amazing I would give 6 stars if I could - if you want an Indian this place is to go, Thankyou again for the fantastic service and food!

26/01/2024 - It is our first time trying SOI Indian in Melton and I must say the food was very good, the food was delivered hot and on time to our home which is always important. We will definitely be trying them again in the near future. Thank you for your time and service. 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Make sure you have a microwave if an home order, and don’t mind yesterdays meat!

This had been my favourite place for Indian takeaway. Tonight was disappointing. Bhuna was too spicy to eat, which is unusual. Passender was lacking almonds and was just not creamy at all. So sad but looks like I'm on the lookout for elsewhere.

Wouldn't let me use a gift card for a cash pick up order as the Money was going to just eat apparently. You have already been paid £20 by the person who paid for the gift card. Standing there shaking your head at me like I'm a child. Wouldn't even let me finish my sentence. Gift card says it can be redeemed online and he told me from their website, you can't order or redeem anything on the website. Then comes running out after me as I get into my car and obviously changed his mind. Too late I'm gone.

Ordered a few days ago and I couldn’t forget about the experience. The chicken was was amazing quality and it was very spicy. Loved the food and we will come again

Honest review no axe to grind soggy Nan bread cold chilli chips poor sauce on the chicken achari first time we have had a takeaway from soi and probably the last empress to India much better

Didn't taste like madras or jalfrezi...naan bread's wasn't good, rice was nice ! Didn't help it was 30 mins late.

Didn't take any photos of the food, but the food was AMAZING!!!! We ordered prawns and chilli garlic cheese bites. Those were both delicious! My mouth is literally watering even typing this right now. Then we ordered fish curry, can't specifically remember what it was called but it was all delicious. Can't wait to go back. If you're looking for authentic Indian food, definitely recommend to go here.

had a takeaway delivered to us at eye kettleby lakes today, service was fantastic brought our food right to our caravan!! food was lovely aswell thanks for the lamb tikka masala it was beautiful will definetly use again next time we stay

We visited twin lakes theme park and needed somewhere halal to eat the food was very nice as was the staff. Very polite and accommodating. Only thing i would recommend is having it published and displayed that the food is halal. I bet sales would increase. Thanks all.

A very average meal. The naan was soggy ... the atmosphere in the restaurant wasn't very nice, no music...staff seemed miserable, not very friendly or welcoming but were polite. The food was very average and I've had better. Won't be going back!!

First time ordering from this restaurant. Delivery was much earlier than expected and food quality was really good.

Onion salad cost over £3.50 and was literally just slices of onion! I had to add to it just to make it stretch! I have never been so disappointed by an Indian takeaway. This is a once a month treat, we have ordered from here before and never been disappointed but was astounded by the food we were delivered today!

This restaurant is always one of my regular favourites. The quality of ingredients shines through each dish. This is one of the only places that does minced chicken (keema) dishes. The head chef was at Regency Bar & Grill in Queensbury for many years and he brought the best over to this restaurant. The lamb mushkaki and chicken tikka bahar are always my personal favourites.

Wonderful food once again a bit expensive but i think its worth it.

Not great - chicken starter was chewy and the main very oily. Took over half an hour to arrive after the notification that our order was on its way. On the positive the delivery driver was polite and apologised for the lateness but other restaurants have notified us in advance of a delay which would have been better.

Always try for SOI when in the area. There isn't any competition in the town in my opinion. Warm and friendly welcome every time and the food is consistently excellent irrespective of what I've ordered, not just a few tricks pony as can sometimes be the case with other Indian restaurants.

The food is always good and the staff are polite and attentive

Food here has been good in the past, but clearly an issue with orders. Ordered at 6:59pm, no sign 1 hour 45 minutes later, so rang asked for update- told 'not ready' for a simple order, not good enough. Asked to cancel and not send, they didn't seem bothered or surprised and weren't very helpful in arranging a refund. Poor customer service, should decline orders they can't fulfil

We have ordered from SOI a few times but last night was awful. Everything was extra hot with chillies and it made it very unenjoyable..

Food was lukewarm and arrived 20 mins after the latest eta, clearly a busy restaurant for deliveries tonight.

We regularly order from SOI as the food is normally excellent however sadly this time it was well below usual standard. One dish was inedible and another very hot for what is usually a mild dish. We could only eat half of what was ordered.

Please don't use this restaurant.....they don't care about the customers.

We specifically chose dishes that weren't listed as spicy, only to find that neither of us could eat either of the curry's orders as they were so spicy. These are dishes we've had from other Indians with no problem. Really disappointing.

Rang early (5:50pn) as it was New Year’s Eve. Told it would be 1.5-2 hrs for delivery. This was fine initially but 2.5 hrs later I had to ring to find out where my order was? But this time we were getting hungry! I know that they may be busy on this day but they need to prioritise pre order customers, especially when they have had 2 hrs notice!

Popadoms were smashed into small pieces and the food was only just warm.

I ordered my meal at 18:40 and received it at 20:50 despite the latest delivery time being 20:10. I contacted the restaurant at 20:20 to ask how long it would be and was told it had left the restaurant and would be here any minute. I then called again at 20:40 to be told I wasn’t at my address despite the delivery being taken to the wrong address. When my meal arrived it was all stone cold.

Food was cold when delivered. Driver said he’d had it over 20 minutes in his car. I rang the restaurant who said I was the 3rd drop off, nothing they could do about cold food!! Said I need to make my complaint through just eat

Uninspiring lacked flavours in rice and curry. The vegetable samosas were oriental not Indian inspired best item was the naan .... infact my weekday curry with a famous man's shop bought sauce has better flavours

Ordered food, told 45mins. After 1 hour rang to asked where food was to be told its on the way. No sorry for the delay or any explainion. Food delivered and was tasty but don't expect rapid service from this India. Not impressed.

Food was okay , service was really poor . I was also given the wrong takeaway . Nearly home I got a phone all to say bring it back . I was met outside the restaurant with my takeaway and a sorry . I understand it’s a Saturday night but there attitude was so blarze ……. Won’t be going again .

Brilliant food, taste so fresh and the salt and pepper fish is amazing

I have a nut and sesame seed allergy so ask the question about dishes free from the aforementioned foods. I was assured of dishes which were nut free. I was told no sesame seeds were used in any dish. The person taking our order checked in the kitchen. However as I ate I became unwell and started to experience an anaphylactic attack. We asked again were there any nuts. No was the answer. I ended up in ressusicatation in queen's med.

Lovely staff and manager. They had aircon on the hottest day of the year. If I was passing this area again I would go out of my way to go here. Best curry I have had in years! Stunning food. Really hoping this restaurant does well. Worth a drive out for!

Excellent food, service, and price.

I have had a few takeaways form Soi in Melton and they have been excellent every time. The variety of flavours in the dishes sets it apart from others.

Now our go to Indian Takeaway in Melton. Never had a bad meal, food is always delicious. Delivery is either early or bang on time. Great service 👍
