The wine at £26 a bottle was like vinegar. Our bill came to £250 for 6 people. The food was below average and the only nice items were the tatziki and bread Service not very good and wouldn’t eat here again. Shame because we came a few years ago and it was amazing but the meat offering has gone down !!

We have just had a meal at sofra,the wine they served at £27 was poor quality also the member of staff who came to clear our table and take the bill was very rude and not in the least polite, we will not return.

Jeff bagnall you need to get your facts right I was one of the people who was ill 9 out of 11 of our group were ill I had to have an ambulance at 4am on sun morning and was taken to hospital all recorded so if you want to argue with that fill your boots this restaurant is awful served frozen fish cakes so much for serving fresh food then chicken was like cardboard and service appalling had to ask to place order after 1 hour 15 mins of waiting environmental health have been informed stool samples supplied and they were not surprised to have been contacted this restaurant is dangerous should be avoided at all costs

I’ve been coming to Sofra for a long time, and it’s hands down my favourite Turkish restaurant. The food is always top-notch, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I bring all my friends here, and every single one of them has left impressed! The owner is a true gem—always welcoming, always taking the time to chat, and genuinely passionate about the food and the experience. You can tell this place is run with real heart, and it makes all the difference. The food speaks for itself. From the meze selection, packed with rich flavours—creamy hummus, smoky aubergine, and crispy falafel—to the main courses that never fail to impress. The mixed grill is a personal favourite, with perfectly cooked, tender meats full of flavour. And no meal is complete without their incredible baklava, served with a steaming cup of Turkish tea. Upon arrival and being seated we were greeted by multiple staff members, each and everyone of them were very polite, friendly and professional. The atmosphere inside the restaurant and the aesthetic was warm and lively that and the smell of their foods already made us all excited to eat. The food didn’t disappoint either, I tried the Lamb beyti for the first time and it was honestly one of the tastiest dishes I’ve ever had. You could tell from the presentation of the dish that the staff handle everything with such precision and care. We were checked on regularly and overall our table was well looked after. I recommend this place for anyone interested in a place that served high quality and seasoned yet affordable dishes. It’s also the perfect place if you’re looking for somewhere a little more fun and lively. The energy and vibes were everything!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Ate here on Saturday 8th February and still vomiting and have had 4 days off work. Have reported to environmental health so hopefully they will act as this restaurant is dangerous

Food looked amazing however the party ended up extremley ill after eating here. We spent a lot of money and feel we need compensating for days off work with severe sickness. We have nevere been so ill from eating out. This place needs reporting to the health standard agencies and reviewing. Would not recommend and would never go again.

Me and 3 friends all attended on sat 8th Feb, by Sunday night into Monday we all started with sickness and diarrhea. Some other family friends also attended the same night and ended up with the same symptoms. Avoid at all costs, reported the to Wakefield council.

My friends and I came to this restaurant for the 1st time. Since Friday night, we have all been throwing up uncontrollably with Norovirus. There was no other time when we were together just at the restaurant. I called and the staff said it couldn't have been the food, even though that was the only time we were together. I then asked to speak to the manager, the staff on the phone said they were busy. I asked for a call back, they said no. I don't understand how you can treat 1st time customers so poorly. He literally hung up the phone and said they're busy. I am not one to write a bad review, but this is extremely poor customer service and absolutely no chance we will be coming back.

Extremely over priced. This is just a chicken kebab and you are charging £15. For a mix grill kebab you charge £17. Food is nice but will not come back.

We go to Sofra regularly and have hosted several occasions there, most recently a large family meal for my husbands 40th on 7/12. I booked in August due to the amount of people and by the time Saturday came they had multiple other large parties due to the xmas period, even with staff absences that day and the other large parties nothing fell short of the usual high standards, the staff were as bubbly and friendly as ever, the food was exceptional and the owner Hakkan made sure to come and welcome the party. The jumbo sharing platters went down a treat with everyone complimenting the food and atmosphere. I can't recommend Sofra highly enough for anything from date night, to family meal or special occasion it's amazing.

A real Turkish delight excellent food & service a pleasure to eat in. We haven’t been to Wakefield restaurants for a few years, we felt they were getting a bit tired. But tried Jose’s last month, now this both excellent. Back to the Sofia, bright attractive restaurant with the attentive friendly service you get at the Delaunay ! The pre dinner drinks served promptly and into a very nice menu. Eileen had the moussaka & I had a lamb Kofta dish, both were delicious and well presented. Everything wine inc is good and reasonably priced. Finished with the house recommended dessert, very good meal. Looking at other dinners so lovely food was coming out. Go with an appetite it’s well worth it.

Our first visit to this restaurant and definitely won't be our last. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful quality, choice and presentation. I am vegetarian and had plenty of options. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the service was wonderful. Can not recommend enough. Special mention to the lovely Hakan.

Had the most delicious mixed grill, tavuk güveç and lamb sızzlers. Party of 6 enjoyed rich Turkısh cuisine. Sofra restaurant staff was very warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was great. Will definitely return in the future…..🥰

Had a fantastic brunch today the food was amazing . Limited drinks menu but never had to ask for a drink once continuous bottles of Prosecco the whole time. Service was excellent would definitely recommend .

Came here last night with a friend and couldn't fault it. The staff were so friendly and attentive, one member of staff in particular was lovely and really had a laugh with us which made the experience so nice. Food was excellent and had some excellent vegetarian choices. The imam (aubergine dish) was one of the best things I'd ever eaten.

Food was amazing and the service (mainly by the male employees - because they were a lot more smiley & seemed to want to be there) was great too. Slightly too loud too hear people even say just across the table from you but it's an absolute must for a visit.

First time here and it was really enjoyable , my lamb was cooked to perfection , the Greek sausage and tzatziki and bread starter's also lovely , would definitely go again .

I ordered the vegetarian gouvec and besides the fact that the food came very hot, sizzling, the vegetables: eggplant, broccoli, green beans were overcooked and the potatoes tasted almost spoiled. The cutlery was dirty. Dessert: The baclava was days old Maximum disappointment. Too expensive for the quality of food offered. The staff was friendly.

I come here whenever I am in Wakefield for work. Can highly recommend it. Service is good, the food is excellent. I've had several of their kebabs and they are all great. Good portions and come with a portion of rice and a small amount of salad. I often get an extra salad on the side and the ingredients are always crisp and fresh. If you have a dessert you should go for the baclava. The pistachio sauce on it is great. Enjoyed every visit.

First visit on Saturday with my wife and we’ll definitely be back! We started with the how sharing platter for two then had mixed kebab and mixed grill - delicious. I was honestly expecting it to be dead quiet at 17:30 on a Saturday afternoon but the place was still busy and continued to fill up while we were there. Loads of parking options close-by and bars around. Very reasonable prices, definitely recommended!!

Been to Sofra Turkish Restaurant for the 3rd time first experience wasn't great but tried again and found that each visit the experience got better, went last night the food was fantastic the service was excellent and they had Turkish dancers which made for a very entertaining night.

Wonderful Turkish meal. We had the hot/cold sharer meze starter which was excellent. Flavours were amazing and everything was quality. For main I had the chicken shish which was delicious, as was the chicken dish with sauce my husband had. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come again.

Very tasty Turkish food. Although only chicken and lamb are on the menu, all the meat and vegetables are cooked on fire. Although I am not a fan of lamb because of the specific smell, this meat was cooked very tasty. Will definitely go there with my wife again. One more thing. When paying out, the service charge is included in the total. We ordered food for £78 but with the service charge included, the total came to £86. Anyway, the food is really good. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. I recommend it to everyone

First time eating this food. Very over priced for very small portions. Food tasted so average, 2 out of 10 and im being generous. Lots of money for very little food.

We have been to Sofra many times and mainly had nice food. We always get the sharing platter which is very good, although the lamb can be a bit hit and miss in terms of toughness/fattyness sometimes. The food is always really tasty.. The platter used to come with a pot of Tjatziki, although after the recent price rise this has been removed and you now have to buy a portion of it for £5.50! Which I think is outrageous. Also got charged around £8 service charge, which we’ve never been charged before. So although it’s nice food it seems Sofra are now pricing people out of going and we will be moving on to other restaurants in the area now.

we've been putting off trying this place for a few years now , walked past and not liked the look of it. What can we say , the place had a fantastic atmosphere, a really good vibe. The waiters were friendly and efficient, and the food came quickly . We had mixed hot starters and then mixed kebabs , very impressed with the quality of the food especially the meat , we were stuffed so no room for dessert. Will definitely be returning

Our second visit to Sofra, it's quickly become one of our favourite places to eat. The food is wonderful, the service is fabulous, the charming Fatih served us both times. Would definitely recommend!

Great atmosphere but very pricey. I ordered the mix grill which came with one lamb chop, one shish kebab, 4 pieces of chicken and 4 pieces of what I think was pork. For just short of £19.00! I understand that nothing is cheap anymore and the quality was ok but there was lack of quantity and I left still feeling hungry. I think it's slightly overpriced. There was 4 of us eating and 1 of the group received their meal after 3 of us had nearly finished so we refused to pay the £15 service charge. Nice, but better places about for the money.

Was there tonight 17/5 with my son and two grandchildren celebrating his birthday. What a gem this place is food absolutely amazing staff very attentive can’t do enough for you and what a great atmosphere definitely going back and highly recommend it.

The food and service was fantastic as usual. We have been many times and never had anything to complain about. Big portions so expect to leave with a full tummy.

Disappointed, food was ok but nothing special and quite expensive . I had the mixed mezze platter starter which on the menu said included kofta, but when it arrived wasn’t there. I asked and they said oh the menu is wrong! Having been 15% of advertised contents they should have reduced price by 15%! Certainly not worth the £13.95 they charged. When bill came I noticed an additional 10% “service charge” added. Surely this isn’t legal unless they make it clear on the menu? Watch out for this and ask to pay just the food price. The meals are expensive enough without sticking another 10% on. Drinks very expensive - £9.95 for a single JD! Maybe average prices for a capital city or resort, but not for Wakey! Won’t be returning

My recent visit to Sofra Turkish Grill in Wakefield left me with mixed feelings, primarily due to the stark contrast between the quality of the food and the abysmal level of service. While the culinary delights certainly impressed, the overall dining experience was marred by frustrating instances of neglect and incompetence from the staff. Let's start with the positive: the food. Sofra excels in delivering authentic Turkish cuisine that tantalizes the taste buds and transports diners to the bustling streets of Istanbul. From succulent kebabs to flavorful mezes, each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to tradition. The rich aromas and vibrant flavors undoubtedly made for a memorable gastronomic journey. However, the same cannot be said for the service, which fell disappointingly short of expectations. Upon arrival, my party and I were initially ignored by the bartender for an uncomfortable five minutes before begrudgingly receiving attention. Despite repeated requests, we never received the basic amenity of water for the table, a simple yet essential element of any dining experience. The service blunders continued as our main meals arrived without cutlery or serviettes, forcing us to awkwardly flag down a server and endure another considerable wait before basic utensils were provided. Our orders for drinks from the bar went unfulfilled, adding further frustration to an already exasperating situation. we endured an hour and half without drinks despite numerous requests To exacerbate matters, the inclusion of a 10% service charge on the bill felt unjustifiable given the dismal level of service received. Refusing to pay this fee, we were met with tacit agreement from our waitress, who sympathized with our plight, citing understaffing as the root cause of the service shortcomings. Seeking resolution, we requested to speak with the manager regarding our grievances, only to be met with disappointment once again as our summons went unanswered, leaving us feeling neglected and unheard. In conclusion, while the food at Sofra Turkish Grill undeniably shines, the same cannot be said for the service, which regrettably detracts from the overall dining experience. Until significant improvements are made in staffing and service quality, I regrettably cannot recommend Sofra as a dining destination.

Rip Off. 4 of us went Sunday evening. Totally bill came go £191......over £17 of which was a 10% service charge! Not acceptable at all. Not advertised anywhere. Taking into account the extra rip off added 10% it makes the drinks very very expensive. (nearly £6.50 for a pint of lager) Won't be returning.... Ever.

I visited here for the first time for my birthday. The food was lovely. Only thing is the price of the kids meals were very pricy for what it was, I’d of thought they would have got a small bowl of free ice-cream or something to make the price justifiable. But as I said the food was gorgeous

Very disappointed with our experience tonight. On entering, we tried to order drinks with one member of staff, who accepted the order and told us a price. A while later, the drinks were brought by another server who told us the prices were wrong and we will have to pay extra, up front, plus service charge. This might have been forgettable, but then when we tried to pay our main bill at the end of the night, they would not accept the gift certificate which we had been told was valid for 6 months (we have been using the gift certificates for years and have been told always that they are valid for 6 months. Despite this, the staff told us that it's only a 3 month voucher, and they will only honour half the price. So over charged twice in the same meal! We were really looking forward to sofra tonight, as we have been a few times, but we will not be returning again.

Unbelievable food. We have walked past and wanted to eat here for ages. Wow I'm so glad we came. Best food in Wakefield hands down. Servive was top notch and well priced. We will be back 100%.

Fazih was amazing host. Food was fresh and delicious. Expecially the sharing platter grill and our Mezze starter. Baklava with ice cream for desert just melts in your mouth. The best way to finish. We will be back again.

This was our second time here first trip was for a birthday second was our anniversary meal, not only was the food amazing especially the sharing board, but our waiter fatih did a great job at making the night perfect with his top class service and great humour, definitely planning our next meal here.

We had first time and will be last time in this restaurant dinner only food can recommend is delicious. So first we sitting where is atmosphere is not good where is room with only one table i ask the guy he said there is not table other side :( Big problem for as was we are ordered Sharing platters for 4 and we got for 2 big mistake somewhere but idk where. When bring girl she said platter for 2 and we said we ordered for 4 and she said yea yea is for 4. After then i ask the guy who take order this platter for 2 or for 4 he go to ask kitchen think and when come back he said it platter is small for 2 but food is for 4 lol. I checked reviews and photos on here and what i see platters for 4 is more bigger and more food from ours. I can count and write here what exactly we got small amount i know is platter for 2 100% sure. Not happy at all never back again. We usually going to Doncaster/Lalezar and just want to try some different that's all.

Food was delicious and plenty of it . We arrived at 5.15 it opened at 4.30 . We found the temperature in the restaurant was rather chilly ,so we kept our coats on. !! .Service was speedy and efficient.

1st visit to Sofra, booked well in advance to try and get a nice positioned table as celebrating joint birthdays. Arrived, then sat on a small table designed for 2 covers, yet 3 settings were laid out, right next to the bar and on the route to the restrooms. The menu has plenty of choice, and opted for the vegetarian moussakka & sharing platter for 2, accompanied with 2 Turkish bread. No starters ordered. We also ordered drinks consisting of a jug of still water & 2 pints of coke zero. Food arrived in due course, all piping hot, well presented and tasting very good. This was when it was clearly identified that the table was way too small for 3 adults, plates, glasses, jug, sharing platter, 2 bread baskets etc. We all enjoyed the meal, the atmosphere, ambience and overall experience left us somewhat underwhelmed. Doesn't help when you end up with rice down the back of your clothes from passing server's with food with no apology offered. When presented with the bill, Sofra applies a cheeky 10% service charge, yet no where is it advertised, published or printed on to make you aware of this. It is the customers choice to determine the level of tip if one is warrented, and not the RIGHT OF MANAGEMENT TO DICTATE. 3 main meals with only soft drinks and bread basket, total bill just shy of £80, not good value for money. Plenty of other places to visit in Wakefield, so we won't be returning.

Loved our evening, staff were amazing, we felt relaxed and not hurried in our evening. Starters were Garlic creamy mushrooms Calamari Spicey sausage Accompanied with fresh bread. Mains Sharing platter Steak Mixed grill All beautifully presented and flavoursome. We were told they was a belly dancer between 7pm to 7.30pm but it may not be every Saturday evening. Thank you once again to the whole team at Sofras, we will be returning.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff who worked on New Years Eve. The restaurant was very busy and yet all the staff were amazing (waiters and in the kitchen). We had lovely food and the belly dancer was a nice touch for the evening. Wishing you all the very best for 2024.

This was a Christmas present from my Son and his Partner and one of the best food experiences I have enjoyed in Wakefield. Everything was spot on the food the staff the atmosphere in fact a terrific night out. We shall definitely return and I would recommend to anyone.

This is our 3rd visit here and it never dissapoints.beautful inside the resturant and toilets are spotless. Staff are all so friendly always asking if you OK and want anything .didn't have a starter because I knew I would be stuffed with the free bread and dips. We both had the mixed grill it was delicious came out stuffed lol
