So... in Aberdeen City

We went for breakfast … then came back for lunch! We had a haggis and hash brown bagel (don’t judge until you’ve tried it - insane!) and pancakes with bacon and syrup - words can not describe the taste sensation! Came back for chicken soup and Katsu bagel. Katsu was ok - should have gone for minute steak instead. Soup was totally amazing and really brightened my dreary winters day. Service was friendly and super quick. Well worth a visit!!!

Great concept, unfortunately let down in several ways. To begin, service was poor- no interaction or guidance on finding seats. Coffee is always subjective- my Americano was distinctly average, my wife really enjoyed her Latte. Bagel fillings were picked were great but the way my roll had been heated left mine dry and it lacked the chewiness of a good bagel; in contrast my wife’s bagel was, in her words “squishy” . The menu has some imaginative fillings yet could be easily strengthened by a few simpler ones and more variety, especially of vegetarian and salad fillings. On a final note, some easily accessible cutlery or wet wipes would also have been helpful…

No cash allowed! Do not darken their door, no cash allowed! This so called establishment do not accept hard earned cash..wake up everybody before the ‘woke’ take over! Working in the vicinity it will be my first and my last visit, I will spend my money elsewhere! £24 for a lunch that was not worth a penny…remember those!?

First time here - was a very enjoyable & tasty lunch time experience. Would advise you to look thoroughly at the menu before you order - there's so much choice. Bagels were so soft & tasty. Opted for a set bagel & one with own filling choice - they offered to warm/toast this - was really tasty. Definitely recommend this for place for a stop & refuel

This establishment now specialises in bagels. We opted for a hot one with pulled pork, slaw etc. absolutely delicious! The staff are friendly and efficient. Really relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit.

Finally got a chance to have lunch here! Impressed by the large number of American sodas (Hello Cherry Dr. Pepper Zero!) and a wide variety of bagels. I had the Jenny from the Bronx and my husband had the Badabing bagel, both of which we enjoyed immensely. Both were amazing but I feel I need to figure out a more ladylike way of eating these as they were packed full of the various fillings. Maybe supply me with a bib next time haha.

The bagels are nice but the staff were very unfriendly which would put me off coming again, as it's not exactly cheap and I would expect at least a basic level of polite service...not being barked at

I came here on Thursday around 12:30. The service was first class, and the server could not have been more delightful. The food was excellent. I went for a bagel with sausage and haggis filling which was delicious and seemed to be freshly made. It tasted great and was good value at £3.50. The place was clean and tidy, and it has a great location in the heart of the city centre. I will definitely come back again soon for another visit.

Myself & my Girlfriend have been wanting to try So Bagels since they first opened in Aberdeen. They are located in the heart of Aberdeen so it makes a great place for breakfast, lunch or a snack and is great for sitting in or taking away. If you love bagels, this is the best whether you want to create your own or go with the menu, the staff will go above & beyond to help. We both ordered the "Saratago Clubhouse" which is turkey, ham, bacon, tomato, egg, mayo & lettuce, but we asked for some cheese as an extra but unfortunately when it came out there was no cheese and my girlfriends bagel wasnt toasted at all. I took the bagels back and the manager was happy to sort it out for us, all in all the bagel was delicious, best I have ever tasted! Plenty of seating available, bright & clean environment and the prices are great. They also offer pizza, hashbrown bites and a full range of normal & american drinks, maybe if they could encorporate fries/chips too that would be a great extra. Will definietly be back soon!

What a choice of what to have on your bagel as well as what type of bagel to have. We both had the Tuna Sprano heated in a Sesame bagel. Tuna cheese and onion all freshly made. The assistant that served us was very pleasant which was helpful. Would certainly recommend and will be back next time in Aberdeen.

I love this wee place. Usually come here on Saturday morning for a breakfast roll (see photo) or a soup/sandwich at lunchtime. The food is excellent. They also have a good selection of hot food and tray baked. The service is always first class. The prices are reasonable. They have free WIFI and decent tunes in the background. I could not recommend this cafe highly enough!

You want a nice sandwich in Aberdeen, you go to So.... They have a very nice range of sandwiches, toasties and stacks on the menu plus the possibility to create your own. Everything is delicious with a friendly service. Well worth the detour for a tasty lunch.

This place is excellent. It's situated on the corner between Soul (the bar) and the Music Hall (on the other side). The staff are sound. The food is always fresh. I especially rate their sandwiches and the pulled chicken broth soup. They do a nice coffee/latte as well. There is always plenty of seats either at the back behind the serving area or beside the windows facing onto Union Street. The prices are good value for money. There is free Wi-Fi. There is usually decent tunes playing in the background. Overall I would highly recommend this place to folk looking for a nice wee spot of lunch in Aberdeen city centre.

SooShee ahora se ha abierto como un restaurante permanente en Union Grove y es una adición bienvenida a la escena de West End Easting out. El restaurante hábilmente decorado puede llevar alrededor de 30 tapas, pero es recomendable reservar. Estuvimos allí un lunes por la noche y estaba bastante ocupado. hay una gran variedad de sushi, deliciosos platos frescos, suculentos yakitori de pollo y un excelente ramen de mariscos. El servicio fue eficiente y atento. El único inconveniente que pensé fue el menú de bebidas. El único vino blanco que se ofreció fue un SB neozelandés con un precio de 28. La gerencia podría dar una pequeña propina en el camino hacia la Cooperativa y comprar una botella respetable por 9, marcarla en un 100 por ciento y aumentar la elección y la absorción de las bebidas que se ofrecen. Volveremos.

The lunch menu was varied and portion size was good.I didn't have to wait to be served and the assistant was very helpful. The seating is very comfortable.

This is a great place to come for lunch, especially through the week if you’re on your lunch break. The food I have had has been really nice and they serve it quick. They do mainly lunch-type food, such as soups and sandwiches and baked potatoes but there is a good choice. Would certainly recommend.

Went here for breakfast as apartments we were staying in gives 20% off the bill in SO and ended up having breakfast everyday here..Very good breakfast options but also other meals available during the day..Wasn't disappointed at all..quality of food on offer and served was great, staff very efficient and price even before discount is good..

We stopped for lunch at this cafe/restaurant having been there previously for coffees. We were able to choose a variety of soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes and hot dishes as well as the usual hot and cold drinks. Service was simple and quick. The food was good for a snack type lunch.

También tomé un café que estaba bien hecho también. El interior es un gran lugar para un bocado ligero con mesas que miran hacia Union Street. En general, tuve un buen almuerzo aquí y definitivamente recomendaría este lugar a otros.

Tienen yogures y granola, croissants, sándwiches, etc. además de ollas calientes para el desayuno. Ambos optamos por este último: un haggis y un vegetariano. Mi esposo estaba bastante contento con su olla haggis, pero luché por terminar la mía. Los huevos revueltos estaban húmedos y sin sabor, los champiñones esponjosos y luego había algunas hojas verdes junto con un rosti de papa húmedo. ¡Muy decepcionante! La camarera fue amable y la comida llegó rápidamente, pero nunca volveré allí para una olla de desayuno.

Good place for a snack. I enjoyed a very tasty chocolate slice but my daughter’s croque monsieur was, disappointingly, more of a cheese toasty than the real thing.

Favourite coffee in Aberdeen, staff are always friendly and the food selection is great. Would highly recommend.

I visited today with my partner. I was excited as I had heard good things about the place and the menu looked great. Ordered a Coronation Chicken Baguette and parter ordered a great scott. Food arrived promptly however one bite into my pale baguette I could barely taste any chicken. Opened it up to find hardly any inside one half and a tonne in the other. Im not one to normally have a moan but paying £4 for a baguette I expected slighlty more. Showed one of the staff members who looked at me like I was an idiot. Told me that there was chicken there and I just couldnt see it and thats how there chefs made it. She offered to do nothing about it and I ended up only being able to eat 1 half of my lunch.

Stopped off for a quick drink before lunch somewhere else (already booked). Nice cafe, the food looked delicious and made me want to try it the next time i am in the city.

Was in a while ago. Foods tasty and irs bright and clean but i have to say it expensive for what it is ( i felt anyway ) I guess it goes down to what your looking for ?

Dont get the Porridge it was disgusting and lumpy!! Clearly the Chef trained in a Prison Staff very unfriendly

The meals took longer than expected but were very nice. My macaroni cheese came on it's own and I had expected some salad with it. My husband kindly gave me some of his cabbage from his lamb hot pot.

Went twice in a week having driven past daily for ages and always fancied trying it. On both occasions I had baked potato with coronation chicken filling. On the first visit the potato was either or both of very old or very overdone and the inside was more like mashed potato. The coronation chicken was, however, plentiful and good quality so I decided to give the place a second chance. On the second visit the potato was even worse - actually tasted burnt and some of the skin was inedible - plus this time the filling was dry, tasteless and about half the amount of the first visit. It was terrible. On both visits the service was brusque, unengaging and unfriendly. On the second occasion I asked for ice for my £1.20 can of coke which was warm. I was instead directed to the back of the fridge for a can that was slightly less warm. The request for ice was just plain ignored. For an operation that appears to pride itself on its local connections, it seems rather disconnected from a traditional Aberdeenshire welcome and food quality. I might go back one day - but definitely not in a hurry.

I often come here for a work lunch. The staff always look like they are working hard, service is quick and efficient. Above all, the food is great. Tastes fresh and homemade. Their chicken broth is particularly good. And in difficult economic times we need to #supportlocalbusinesses

Popped in today for a cuppa and cake after doing the Nuart tour. Waited about 10 minutes for our cuppa as one lass was struggling on her own. Coffee and cake was nice but on visiting the toilets I was met with the stench of rubbish. The photos below explain why. I would not return due to this. This was what was on view. The seats were dirty too.

Was in town for a concert - been keen to visit but normally not open in the evening - but was doing one of their occasional "street food" nights....

This was my first try of Street Food at SO and did not know what to expect as the only do this at a weekend now and again. The menu was varied from luxury mac and cheese to ribs and Texas beans we ended up sharing so we all get a feast of flavours and none of us were disappointed and look forward to the next pop-up,

I have been to So for lunch quite a few times now, takeaway and sit in, and have been very happy every time. Lovely sandwiches made to order, tasty macaroni cheese, baked potatoes and soup, and lots of other interesting choices. Coffee is very nice and the staff are very friendly.

Just got back from having breakfast here - didn't realise it is an independent cafe! :-) Will be back. Had the Wild Haggis scrambled egg pot. Would recommend - seriously delicious

We visited recently and had a delicious brunch. The menu is much easier to comprehend now without all the combinations on offer previously. If you're looking for something a little bit different for breakfast, this is the place.

This cafe was not what we expected at all. It's far better than we first expected! Really lovely choice of sandwiches, really lovely macaroni cheese and lovely coffee. Never have to wait too long either.

Went out with Mrs to try the pop up menu. Had Bento box curry. Was fantastic. Will be going back monthly to this event. Highly recommend.

I come here for a takeaway lunch most week days. Lots of choices at very reasonable prices. Love their baked potatoes, toasties and mac n cheese!

Given that Soul was doing a Barbeque and I was on a smaller budget, I went over the road to So, and for the price of £4, I was able to get a baked potato with cheese(grated chedder) and that did me for the rest of the day.

We booked a table at So... for one of their Street Food Pop-Up nights and so glad we did! Good selection to chose from and the food was to die for! The king prawn taco's with kale and apple slaw was amazing, still thinking about it now! Service was really attentive.Not the biggest selection of alcohol, only white or red wine - would have loved a rose. The prosecco could only be purchased by the bottle.Looking forward to another pop-up night!

First visit to So. Nice friendly staff. Clean & tidy. Only had a coffee so can't comment on the food but the coffee was wonderful. 100% nicer than Starbucks & Costa. Plus it comes in a normal sized cup and bought to your table. Will definately return

Looking for somewhere to have breakfast/brunch on Union Street in Aberdeen and came across So cafe and saw, through the large windows, a couple eating a delicious looking bacon bap. We ventured inside & ordered coffee & streaky smoked bacon baps with brown sauce. In no time we had a delicious mug of coffee & bap. They were both delicious, the only criticism being that there was far too much brown sauce, in fact it was dripping out. It would be preferable to let customers put their own condiments on. Other than that small criticism, we enjoyed our visit.

I come here with my colleagues all the time, because I think I might be addicted to the baked potatoes! I have never ordered anything else! The cakes are also delicious. The service is quick, so it is ideal for your lunch hour. It's roomy inside and has a nice atmosphere.

Regulary buy lunch time sandwiches from here. Today (possibly a new member of staff) rang up the wrong item on the till and attempted to over charge me. Pointed this out to her and no apology. Handed her a £10 note and she chucked the change on the counter for me to pick up. No thanks or bye so unacceptable behaviour imho.No real problems with the food quality although they dont put labels on their sandwiches. They started a new all day breakfast sandwich recently which I bought and took back to the office. When I opened it, it has ketchup through it which I cannot eat so had to chuck it. Would be better therefore if there were labels telling you exactly whats in them

Great to see a local alternative to the chains. Been in So... Many times. Food is always good, but sometimes portions can be a bit mean for the price. In yesterday and every thing we asked for was unavailable. I eventually had to ask what WAS available - only two items! And, the server was rude and abrupt about it as if we had inconvenienced her by coming in and choosing the items that were sold out! Went for the Cuban sandwich which was extremely tasty, the coffee was great, as it always is in So... We shared a tiffin which was delish and more than enough for two people.

I had the Thai tuna melt and it was really nice, the shop layout is quite trendy. I would recommend this over Pret any time

Hi. I just had my first experience of So... Aberdeen - a chicken katsy curry baked potato with cheese. Whilst it was tasty (thumbs up), the portion size and filling was ridiculous, and I use the work filling generously, as there really was only a small spoonful of the chicken katsy curry and light sprinkling of cheese. All for the pricely sum of £6.50. Perhaps to add to my disappointment was that this meal was so highly recommended by my friend. Maybe next time, if there is a next time, I will be luckier. Don't know if the fact we got take away makes any difference???? Still hungry!

when asking for a sandwich with coleslaw there is never any. Sometimes I wonder if order is listened to as the servers are doing several orders at once. disappointing but can be exciting to see what is in the bag!!

This is one of my favourite places for lunch, their baked potatoes are soooo nice!! I love their cappuccino's too. My friend tried the Macaroni which she said was lovely. Highly recommend.

On Saturday 4th March I came here with my partner and our baby; the waitress brought our drinks - I had a macchiato - and a chocolate truffle, which was lovely. As a personal preference, the coffee is too far toasted and bitter - not a good thing (there is a lot of debate on the topic)... I would prefer it less burnt. Small criticism on an otherwise great place. Thank you.

We visited on a weekday morning and had good coffe. The staff were excellent and very helpful . We found there was a food selection of items to choose from and the prices were average. The location is good right on the Main Street The toilets are clean however in the basement but there is dusalbled toilet on the ground floorWill go back lived it

My friend and I used to meet here at least once a month after work, but on this occasion we met at 5pm, but on entering the place we were made to feel unwelcome as they were closing early as they were not busy - meant to close at 6pm. Not been back.

Went with my grandparents to So... while walking down Union Street. It is conveniently located in City Centre making it a good stop for a meal while walking along one of the main roads in Aberdeen. I had a chicken, bacon, and mayo sandwich with caramelized onions on glass bread. I'd never had glass bread before but it was delicious. I also ordered potato and leek soup but the sandwich was pretty big so I had to have my grandparents help me finish the soup (which was also a decent serving).

Popped in for a coffee on Hogmanay and decided on a snack as well. Best steak toastie ever. Service was a bit slow and they weren't busy but well worth waiting for.

My sister and I had a lovely lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but service was seamless. Excellent all round - food, service, atmosphere and the decor is modern. Definitely a favourite lunch spot of mine in Aberdeen. There is a fantastic selection of high quality food. Good spot for people watching.We shared a huge portion of neep and tattie soup for £3 which was delicious, great value. We also shared a steak toasted ciabatta and a blondie tiramisu.I think prices are average for Aberdeen and are reasonable for the quality of food. Everything I love about Soul encompassed in the cafe. If I worked close to So I'd be there all the time!

Second visit and again not dis appointed excellent food and service with a smile .will certainly be back next time we are in Aberdeen would not gi anywhere else.

Very busy, bright and spacious trendy coffee/bistro. Good selection of cakes, etc. Popular meeting place for friends and close to shopping centres.

I popped in yesterday for a quick takeaway lunch and opted for a baked potato with cheese and coleslaw after hearing good things.The staff and service was great, cant fault it.The food however, was terrible. I can only surmise the baked potato had been sitting for several hours - the base was rock hard and dry as. The coleslaw was very watery and there was so little cheese, it was hard to spot!Had I been eating in, I would have sent it back.

I sat in for the first time at this cafe and have come away feeling pretty disappointed.I have been here a few times for a take-away lunch and have always been pleased with the service and food. This time I decided to sit in with my brother. I had a baked potato and he had ordered a Spanish omelette. When the food arrived at the table, I was very disappointed to say the least.The baked potato was massive with plenty filling, however, my brothers Spanish omelette was just a tiny slice (almost resembling a small tray bake sized item)!!!I felt really bad for suggesting that cafe and had to offer him some of my baked potatoWill not be eating here again as it is massively overpriced and they have got their portion sizes all wrong!

Visited here a couple of times, more recently on the way to a meeting in town . Lovely breakfast on offer and a good cup of tea ! Reasonable selection of cakes ... Nice decor .... Only negative is cutlery , when sitting in and eating I would prefer 'proper' knives and forks rather than wooden 'takeaway' - but a minor point which could easily be rectified.

What a lovely coffee shop open from breakfast right through to mid afternoon. A wide selection of snacks sandwiches and savouries are available in fantastic premises with plenty of tables and chairs . Classy with competitive prices too.

Stopped in for breakfast mid week, albeit nearer 11ish. Limited selection of breakfast items still available by then which was disappointing. Selected a bacon roll which was very nice, lots of bacon and it was crispy. Service was a little cold as staff were distracted preparing the lunch offering. We were given plastic cutlery which was unexpected. The seating area is a little small for the size of the place. Good bacon roll so I'd go back for that if nothing else.

We stayed in Aberdeen for 3 nights and went in for lunch as it seemed busy and very modern, and that was probably the best decision made while we stayed in Aberdeen! (We came from Sweden for a business trip). Nice big windows with a great view! The menu boards looked a little bit confusing but everything was explained by cheerful and very helpful waiter (didn't get his name, badge names would be ideal?) He offered us a small sample of food, even though it was quite busy, he made sure we were satisfied, before we ordered, which was very lovely. Everything was brought to the table by one of the most smiley and positive waitresses we have came across in Scotland (Pauline, Poline)! We asked her about different places to go to for drinks after our meal as she seemed very outgoing and she was more than happy to answer all of our questions. Just after serving us, we watched her cleaning 4 tables on one go on her way back to the counter, still smiling away, which was rather impressive! We ended up in some great places (Soul Bar, which was just across the street) thankfully to her recommendations! As we were leaving, the same waiter who advised us with food choice, waved at us saying goodbye! We could go on and on! Overall, very friendly atmosphere with great food! A place to go!

First visit to Aberdeen and was looking for a light lunch. So looks very attractive and seemed busy so went in. Self service was a bit chaotic and didn't feel it was very clear how it all worked. Received a cold coffee, but this was dealt with promptly and efficiently so no complaints there. Food was OK.

I've been here several times now and it gets better each time! My favourites are the Cajun Steak Flatbread and a Toasty on glass bread with tuna, cheese and sweet chilli sauce recommended by the manager Barry. The peanut butter blondie is also great and I could list the rest of my favourites but we'd be here all day! The place has a really great atmosphere and style and the service is always super speedy and cheery whenever I've been in. Would highly recommend you to try it out if you haven't been before!

First visit and we were impressed. Very helpful waitress offered me a sample of some soup before placing our order. Ordered soup and Mac cheese which were both really tasty. Teas were served in generous sized tea pots. Nice selection of cakes and bakes.

the food and the coffee was really bad. the staff was straight faced like they are not remotely happy to be there serving customers. extremely bad experience and will make sure i tell my friends and family not to visit that cafe. overrated junk food. !

Heading back to the car park, we decided to stop for a coffee. You order at the counter and the staff are very friendly. We opted for a bacon & sausage roll and a ham & cheese croissant. We were invited to take a seat along with a food number and told everything would be brought to the table. Sure enough, all arrived very promptly with more smiles and interest if we had everything we needed. Food was hot and delicious and a lovely pot of tea was perfect. We will definitely be back and will probably try one of the scrumptious looking lunch options.

A good place for an informal, light lunch. I had the frittata which was ok, but could have been served with a side salad to make it more of a meal. Order at the counter. Prices not too bad. Modern and light interior. Nice big windows, so you can sit there and watch the world go by in Union Street! My husband had the pulled pork bun which he quite enjoyed. And not to mention the very friendly and thoroughly enthusiastic waiter!

Having been here previously for a lunch meeting and being impressed with the food and the quality of service I decided to try a take away lunch. I have to admit that I found the menu quite daunting at first as it takes up the whole width of the shop and while stood in line I had to move around a lot to make my decision. My server was friendly and offered help in making my choices. I went for a Dahl soup and chicken/bacon wrap, this came to £7 on the nose. The take away packaging is very sturdy and of a high quality (something that other vendors should aspire to) and kept my food warm during my walk back to the office. The Dahl was delicious and the wrap was very good, it tasted like the chicken was freshly roasted. Win.

This place is great. Have been in loads of times and never fail to get good service! There is a wide range of food available which means we have never had the same thing! The pulled chicken soup and bbq pulled pork glass pizzas are definitely a favourite! Love going back here!

Had just driven from Ballater - managed to find a parking space on Bon Accord Square - walked out to Union St, desperate for a loo, and hungry / thirsty. There was So on the corner - looked inviting - quite busy - well displayed overhead menu - good display of ready to go food. Choose the sausage roll with black pudding. Order at the counter - then both coffee and food delivered to the table. Really tasty. A relaxing stop. Thanks!

Vi var på shopping på Union Street og trengte etterhvert et sted å spise lunch. Vi fant tilfeldig So og bestilte et pizza stykke og en kaffe hver. Både pizza og kaffe var velsmakende. Moderne og lyse lokaler med vinduer fra gulv til takk ut mot Union Street. Hyggelig betjening og greie priser. Anbefales.
