Great buzzy local cafe with friendly staff and tasty food

What a beautiful find! I didn’t know what to expect. I was told I had to go try the Glamorgan sausage sandwich. I have to say we tried way more than that and we were not disappointed. The food you can tell was so fresh and tastes great and the atmosphere was lovely. At the end we were chatting to a lovely lady (maybe the owner) she was a delight. Really makes us want to go back again and again. Thank you so much

For me it's a local cafe with homemade food of a very high standard. It's a bit quirky - true - but choose carefully what you want and you'll get some really memorable food - and some food that takes you down memory lane (corned beef pie! Better than I remembered it)

Food was good. We were seated quickly but it took a long time to get the bill, mostly because the front of house staff were looking any where but at us and talking a lot to what appeared to be regulars. Having finally paid the bill, what I really objected to was being chased as we left and asked if we had paid the bill. If they had been paying more attention then they would have known we had and avoided embarrassing us and them.

A great breakfast as usual, cheerfully served, and wonderful scrambles eggs. Not cheap, but the food and the welcome is excellent.

Lovely food as usual, we have been here a few times. Unfortunately this visit was tainted by a gentleman (? The shop owner) being quite rude and dismissive to one of the younger waitresses in front of us. It seemed quite unnecessary and gave us a bad feeling. It's a shame as usually the staff are very friendly here. We visited on Saturday 15th June for breakfast.

Wednesday evening pizza night. Pizza was lovely and it was nice to be able to choose a dessert from a selection. It was pretty quiet so the atmosphere was a bit lacking. Would recommend for a relaxed evening out in Rhiwbina.

Staying locally in a hotel for a couple of days, I was recommended Snails for lunch by the gift shop next door. I’m so glad I stopped and bought a take-away. I had sweet potato and coconut soup with brown bread. It was delicious with the texture of almond flakes adding to the experience. The bread was also a treat. Seeing a frittata I ordered a slice which I was asked if I wanted salad. I said yes and expected a few random leaves. I have just eaten this for my dinner and I had the most enjoyable experience, such wonderful different tastes. I am back in a month and already look forward to my next meal.

Lovely little cafe, well decorated and lit. Good service, especially for a busy Saturday lunchtime. Food is well worth the visit, I had the bacon, brie and cranberry melt. Friend had the weekend special fish finger sandwich.

We came at the tail end of lunch, they were still busy so expected a little wait. However after 30 minutes the server came to us and told us she never actually sent our order through to the kitchen, so by the time we got our food it was quite a while after we arrived. I ordered the philly cheese steak, the onions and steak were charred, which for me is fine but for most people is unacceptable. The bun was quite tough, I really can't fathom how anyone could eat it as a sandwich without everything falling out. Please use a softer bun. No steak knife was given. The rarebit my partner ate was very good, highly recommended.

I love Snails, my family and I have breakfast here, lunch here and sometimes both. We have had birthday celebrations here (hired the entire place) with the most amazing spread of food and the most magnificent Birthday Cake. The team are super, the food is always exceptionally good quality and of a high standard. I am a very fussy vegi and nothing is ever too much trouble and there is always a lovely selection for everyone. The Owners and their team are wonderful. They are helpful, interactive, funny, professional, and always go above and beyond. I would encourage anyone to come here and see and try the wonderful food and experience the kind and warm ambiance.

A warm welcome here for breakfast on St David's Day. Very nice atmosphere here, matched by the cooking. n Not the cheapest breakfast around, but certainly one of the best.

My first time at Snails Deli, it was very busy but we had booked a table as there were 4 of us, so we sat straight away, the service was slow but as the place was busy it was to be expected, when the waitress took our order, we ordered the stake baguette x 3 and cooked breakfast, a pot of tea (for 2) and a hot chocolate. When the tea arrived there was no sugar on the table so I asked for some and the waitress brought 3 sachets, and that was it, the food when it arrived was wrong so we sent it back, and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from the smoking area (we were sat at the other end of the deli). So yes the food when it arrived was great very tasty, but it was let down by poor service and the strong smell of cigarettes. I don't think we will be going back.

Unfortunately so busy could not get a table, better luck next time xx

Located on 6-8 Beulah Road, Cardiff, CF14 6LX, this delicatessen has everything- cherry cakes, croissants, choco au pains, buns, victoria sponge cakes, meats, bakery items, take away coffee and a nice place to sit inside. The atmosphere is quaint and ambient. Its just the kind of place where priveliged people like to sit and quietly chat to one another. This is one of those- place to be at, kind of places. You must try the cherry cake- melted in my mouth. The staff, when I visited, were most helpful and served with a smile.

Went for lunch on a Wednesday. Surprised to find it full. Lucky to get a table. It was "service with a smile" and a sense of calm in the midst of a packed house! Had sausage and mash all of it was top class. Bought a lime and courgette cake for after which was excellent.

Bustling and friendly place. Only had time for a coffee but would certainly return. Some delicious looking dishes being served.

I love Snails Deli! It’s so great to find a truly independent, family run cafe where the food is cooked on the premises using high quality ingredients. Always a friendly welcome and the best coffee anywhere in Cardiff! Cakes are a meal in themselves.

Lovely little quirky cafe and deli. Very welcoming staff. They often have music evenings with a meal and live music from small acoustic bands.

Consistently good food in a very friendly atmosphere. Delicious brunch and vegetarians and vegans easily accommodated. Also wonderful salads and quiche at lunchtimes.

We've booked out Snails Deli a couple of times for family parties, but most recently have made the most of offerslings linked with Rhiwbina Tap. We've ordered pizzas and other bits whilst enjoying some beer in the tap house across the road. Food arrives quickly and can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Should be way more popular than it is. Food came as a big portion and was divine (Pasta Funghi), plus service was excellent. The place has a real, cosy feel - loved it.

It was some time since I'd eaten at Snails and the quality of food was far poorer despite price increases -ie salad accompaniment consisting of ?handful of leaves from a supermarket bag, luke warm potato wedges, some broccoli lacking flavour - with glamorgan sausages the cost was £12.50 for an unappetising meal. I complained but there was no refund, and won't return

Bored of Starbucks wraps and Supermarket meal deals, I always look for somewhere local that will do a decent meal. For a couple of quid more than your standard floppy sandwich, I got a box full of salad and a large slice of quiche, which was very tasty and kept me going well into the evening. So impressed was I that I returned the next day and had their burger, which again did not disappoint. The place seems to be a real hub of the community and the vibe was excellent. Service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I’ve already recommended it to a few local contacts. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area, for sure!

We had a great evening celebrating my Dad’s 80th birthday. Everyone enjoyed the most amazing ‘grazing’ buffet (delicious meats, cheeses, salads, coleslaw, samosas etc). Nicky was so helpful in the run up to the event, whilst Fran and team ensured it all ran smoothly on the night. A top venue for a cozy, intimate celebration of any kind. Would 100% recommend. This spot is perfect for a relaxed friendly atmosphere with amazing home cooked food. We went for an evening taking our extended family with ages ranging from 13-72! It caters perfectly for all. We are a Foodie family and are quite fussy with where we choose to go and this was exceptional. We had starters to share followed by a mix of pasta dishes and pizzas. It was all brilliant. The pasta pomodore was as good as the best I have eaten in Italy! 10/10 for the food wine and friends welcoming staff. Bonus of live music too what a wonderful treat. This is my local restaurant of choice y Oh just can’t beat it!

Friendly owners and staff, fantastic atmosphere every time I visit wales I come here. Food is beautiful, I always have to have at least one Welsh rarebit here, makes me hungry just thinking of it. A must visit!!

This is the place to go for Welsh Rarebit in Cardiff; their homemade sauce makes a great dish even better. It is very easy to get to by Transport of Wales trains (and very close to Rhiwbina station). Definitely worth the trip.

Snails is the go to place for a great night out. Had great pizza, music and atmosphere. Parking is easy and it is in the heart of the suburb of Rhiwbina.

No ifs, no buts, Snails simply has the BEST coffee! The cakes are a super sized slice of seductive sin too 🤗.

we called here today and ordered two americanos, both tasted bitter and could not drink them. It tasted so bitter that it could have been cheap instant coffee. Shall not be returning, so be advised?

Wow Best Food Ive Not had to cook in a Long long time. Quiche was on Point and I am currently Digging into the Most generous portion of Lemon Drizzle cake and its like a Carnival in my Mouth. Staff were lush too. Thanks Snails. I WILL BE BACK . .

Bought a takeaway lunch here. It was lovely and the service was wonderful, but the price was far above what I was expecting and items are not priced at the window so there was no way to know ahead of time.

Very friendly staff who served a fine breakfast (see photo). Excellent ingredients and sourdough toast as well. Not cheap compared to other establishments but certainly worth it.

Beautifully run local and family Run cafe what more can you possibly want than when you point to a sausage roll and ask what it is made out of the owner tells you that her daughter is her daughter's new recipe and tell you every ingredient in it it is an absolutely magical place to stop off however I will won the prices are not low which is probably right free real little luxury delicatessen cafe. Keep it up snails delicatessen I will be around the front of again

What a find! A total gem of a place, completely unique serving totally unique items and twists on classic favourites. By chance I was driving by, hungry, on the search for food and spotted people queuing in terrible weather. I took a decent selection of cakes and pastries. Each and everyone was delicious. The staff inside didn’t stand still, lots going on but still excellent service. I found myself back here the following day. Check this place out!

Our first visit to Snails today. Why has it taken us so long to find this gem in Rhiwbina! So friendly and the food is stunning. All home made and so different from the norm. My photos show the turkey, stuffing and cranberry pie, one of their many delicious quiches at the back. The lemon drizzle cake and the white chocolate and raspberry cake to take home to enjoy later. Will definitely return.

We had a delicious supper at Snails last night. We had a smoked salmon sharing platter as a starter. The salmon was from Llys Meddyg Pembs. Then for the main course I had a pizza with wild boar salami and smoked Mozzarella, yum!! Service and atmosphere excellent. We'll be back soon 😁👍

A huge thank you to Fran, Rupert and the team for hosting a fabulous birthday party, just as we came out of lockdown. You really made us feel welcome and special while planning the event, and on the day we couldn't have asked for more... an outdoor marquee, a "to die for" extravagant cake (thanks Nicky), those amazing cocktails (nice one Cleo), plus ongoing help from Stefan. The tapas food wasn't just food... it was a work of art. Quotes from the day included "best birthday party ever". Keep up the good work and I'll be back for my next big birthday!

Wouldnt go anywhere else for all my deli needs! Gorgeous fresh coffee, beautifully baked cakes, quiches and pastries and a gorgeous selection of gin, cheese and other welsh deliciousness all serviced with a smile! Highly recommended

Ordered two pizzas from Snails on Friday evening. They were expensive (IMO) being £12 each together with garlic bread (£5) but a ‘lockdown’ treat that proved worth it. Both the Pizza’s and the garlic bread were delicious and a bit more special than ‘normal’ pizzas. We ordered the salami and the Bianca: really tasty and would definitely recommend.

Snails se ha convertido de la noche a la mañana en una comida para llevar absolutamente increíble. Con los locos eventos recientes y mis hijos están en casa mientras estoy en el trabajo, compré un cupón de caracoles para su almuerzo.¡Les encantó elegir un sándwich de su elección y ambos dijeron que era increíble! ! ! ! ! Lleno de proteínas y verduras y magnífico pan fresco. Sus palabras! !Definitivamente voy a comprar algunos de estos por semana ya que mi hijo menor tiene que hacer sus lecciones en línea, ya que la mayoría de los niños y caminar o andar en bicicleta hasta los caracoles para almorzar será un buen ejercicio y soy una madre feliz de que eso obtendrá un almuerzo nutricional adecuado a un precio mejor que el de la escuela y le encantó. Gracias caracoles por proporcionar esto, ha hecho que trabajar en estos tiempos difíciles sea más fácil

We decided to go here for breakfast on Saturday but we decided just to have a sandwich as the menu didn’t quiet suit us.On leaving we realised that it has a score of 1 on the door for hygiene rating so we won’t be returning.

Regularmente hago pop para ir (solo 2. 20) y una Samosa o Brownie. El Brownie es increíble, pero para 2 lo esperaría. El Samosa es encantador, pero podría hacer con un poco más de especias en mi opinión. El café es una mezcla fuerte y es muy agradable. Este es un Deli encantador y el servicio es siempre personal y acogedor. No he probado la comida todavía, ya que siempre he tenido una visita rápida pero se ve bien.

Great selection of drinks, freshly cooked food, salad, breads and local honey among other delights the offerings are endless. They also have pizza nights and local live events.

Lovely place for breakfast, the full breakfast was really good, everything home cooked and hot. Nice atmosphere we’ll be back.

I was in Wales visiting my grand children and every morning I would have a cup of porridge and a latte to begin my day. Wonderful staff, always gracious and with a smile. I will return again when I again come to care for my grand children.

An egg-cellent start to the day this morning. We enjoyed great coffee and delicious bacon and egg sandwiches. Perhaps slightly overpriced but would definitely return for a treat as the food was so good. A warm and cosy atmosphere with friendly staff.

Always a pleasure to come and eat at this family run restaurant. Rupert Fran and the team should be very proud of what they do. It’s always nice to support a local family business. The grill night menu is fab and my wife and I had the Salmon with noodles and a Rhiwbina Burger. Fab quick service great value and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Nice to see the chef taking time to check the customers for comments and feedback. We will return

I don't think I've ever been to a Cafe like Snails. The Staff are constantly shouting back and for to each other across the front of the Cafe. The front of the Cafe was also more like a stock room where various stock items were being lifted and shifted out the back. I felt I was an inconvenience.

Calling in for a (very nice) coffee, I saw on the Specials board an offering of smashed avocado, poached egg and bacon on toast.

Regalo de cumpleaños Vive localmente, no he visitado Snails desde la primera semana de la apertura de la tienda (mi hijo todavía recuerda la 'Curiosity Cola', que era algo raro en ese momento). Excelente ensalada y pan de ajo, a diferencia de las cosas sobre grasosas habituales, ensalada ligeramente vestida con, afortunadamente, no demasiada cebolla. Las pizzas eran excelentes Servido con un delicioso sauvignon blanc helado, que voló en una cálida tarde de septiembre. El personal no podría haber sido más amable en lo que consideramos una noche concurrida.

Como local, considero que este es mi Deli más cercano. Más de 8 para un desayuno y más de 2 para una porción de té, lo considero caro, así que espero lo que dice en la lata. Pedí el desayuno completo x 2 y dos tés, que llegaron puntualmente. Un gran té Pot, caliente y humeante, PERO con solo UNA bolsita de té? Además, uno de los factores decisivos, estaba en el menú, el desayuno incluía "Lave Bread", un manjar gales. Pedimos más bolsitas de té, y se produjo una segunda bolsita de té, así que le pregunté sobre el pan de Lave, o más bien, la falta de eso: "oh, nos hemos quedado sin nada, mi mal" fue la respuesta. Tu mal que? o es usted eres malo? a más de 22 para el desayuno para dos, ¡no es exactamente mi taza de té!

I’ve visited Snails a few times as I live local. The food there is lovely with a decent lunch menu offering a range of sandwiches and salads. The food is quite pricey for what you get. I’ve had a few of their sandwiches and the deli salad - which at £7 is expensive given it doesn’t come with any meat, cheese or bread! The staff are all very friendly although service can be slow so be aware if you’re popping in on your lunch break although they do advertise this on the menu.

Called on here today bought 2 pieces of cake one lemon drizzle slice and one chocolate marble cake . My girlfriend says the choc marble cake was nice . I ate the lemon drizzle cake actually I didnt it was disgusting . No lemon taste to it at all only the grated rhind on top . Most of it in the bin. Also don't do carrier bags and haven't for ten years. That's weird as how are you supposed to carry things you purchase from there.

I had a lovely lunch at the Deli yesterday with a couple of colleagues, and we enjoyed the experience very much. We all ordered traditional Welsh Cawl, it was delicious! Definitely recommended

We reserved at table at the back for a small meeting over lunch. Great toasties, coffee and cake. Busy over lunchtime, but well worth the visit for the Glamorgan sausage.

Delightful Deli cafe in Rhiwbina village nice choice of homemade sandwiches and quiche. Very relaxed and informal.
