We visited the smugglers beach last night whilst away in our camper van- cannot say just how lovely this place is!! lovely food, great drinks and ambiance and the staff were absolutely fantastic- all so warm, welcoming and friendly- we cannot wait to make our next visit!

The Smugglers Beach, 2 minutes walk from Port Eynon beach, is a lovely cafe/restaurant/bar with a laid back vibe. The food and coffee are excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Smugglers is owned by Donna, who lives on the premises, and indeed she and her sister were born in the house before it was a cafe. That may contribute to the ambience or it could be just the sheer hard work she and her tiny team have committed to making it a success. The really great thing about Smugglers is that it is autism friendly - apart from a calm, airy interior, it has two small snugs that are perfect if customers need a quiet space or just want to be by themselves. There are several other things that make Smugglers special: 1) It’s open every day, even in winter, right into the late evening. 2) It has a wide menu that is very reasonably priced. 3) Some evenings it has live music (free!). 4) It has good, free wi-fi. 5) It is dog friendly. I will certainly be back - it’s fantastic to sit in front of the wood burner with a coffee after a long walk on a windswept beach!

Lovely Welsh pork and leek sausage baggets, really enjoyed. Large portion, lovely crusty bagget. It was also great to find butter being used, absolutely lovely. Well presented. Will certainly return. Good to see the Gower brewery supported on site too.

Absolutely stunning Sunday dinner. Melt in the mouth beef with tasty vegetables and moreish cauliflower cheese. Staff Alex and Cai were amazing and very attentive. Will certainly be recommending to everyone I know. Thank you Smugglers Beach.😀😀

We are staying at local campsite and treated ourselves to New Years Eve Dinner with friends. First impressions were excellent, nice interior, friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately all that was lost when food arrived. I had curry .. rice was uncle bens (or equivalent) my pet hate .. hard and cold. Please use basmati it would be more authentic and probably cost effective. I was encouraged to have chips but frozen and poor quality. The curry was ok but not much meat (lamb) and quite thick consitancy Hubby and friend had fish Small portion and not very appealing to look at... just use a good batter forget the laverbread ... it looks so dark on plate. Chips again poor. Friend had the noodle dish.. again unplesant average taste ... like a packet sauce(dont know if was) All in all qe had a lovely evening with friends and i would have normally discussed all of this with servers, but as NYE with friends i did not want to complain. I urge the chef to re visit his suppliers and maybe menu Simple menu made well would be a winner. Our bill for 4 with drinks was £100 so no an unconsidered amount to spend.

Called in for lunch put off by the price of a glass of house white wine. Moved on to the Ship very enjoyable lunch wine not so expensive

We go to Port Eynon most years for a week and this is always one of the evenings the family enjoy. We have been on crazy busy evenings when the kitchen struggling to cope and still had fun. We booked in and had one of the nice rooms ‘the snug’ and it was not very busy. Staff always friendly but have really let their standards slip in our view. Most menus are ripped and dirty and most only have the drinks on them now. Looks like not been redone this year. Could understand if a laminated family menu but paper on wooden clipboards is not hard to get right. . After several attempts ourselves we managed to get ones with food on. Menu not really changed which was great but portion and quality had changed. Looks nothing like the pictures. An adult macaroni cheese and chilli was like kids pasta with grated cheese on a small plate. Garlic bread did not come with it and when asked for it when it came it was cold and hard and tasted like frozen baguette from super market. I hope you reset and raise the bar back to where you can. The venue and staff are lovely just expected more. You could say why not come and mention all this to us. Not once in 90 mins did anyone ask if food ok. We had to get ask for menus then ask for ones with food on then find fresh ones ourselves with food on then ask for garlic bread. Spoke to a few other people at campsite who all commented the same. Little things make a difference and start with menus!

A must visit for any occasion! A hidden gem in Port Eynon! Fresh interior, friendly staff, amazing food and fantastic entertainment with the atmosphere to match! I remember what the Smugglers used to be like late 90s/early 00s and what a dive it was! Cannot believe what it looks like now! Its amazing! The hen party of 18 were greeted by one of the owners, Connor, who then introduced himself and lead the way in. We had a cocktail on arrival as we stepped into the venue. The deco is on trend with a twist of nautical. You have good decent outside seating area, lovely cwtchy lounge bar area then at the back the main restaurant/function room. We were in the main restaurant bit and our Host Connor decorated perfectly for us. The food was a mixture of freshly cooked pizzas with different toppings like tuna, salami etc which was lovely to have than the bog standard pepperoni etc in other places, fresh salad, fried halloumi and chicken pieces, chips, just to name a few! All brought out piping hot and presented beautifully! It was followed by mini Desserts; chocolate brownie with fresh raspberry (my fav), a millionaire shortbread type of cheesecake with fresh fruit and caramel cupcakes. Fresh and delicious! We paid for Diana D drag queen to perform which Connor took care of organising after he recommended the act. And I'm so glad he did! Diana D what a laugh!!! My sides still hurt from all the laughing! She was amazing! Engaging with the crowd and just a born entertainer. Connor was a fantastic host! He kept the party going with music, dancing, karoke and party games. The room was open to the public which we didn't mind at all and they all came in and joined in the fun! There wasn't a request too much of a trouble for Connor to sort! He made myself and the party feel completely at ease and relaxed which I find rare these days as hospitality is such a dying art! The price was an absolute steal for a hen party of that size when comparing places like Cardiff and even Swansea City Centre! What I also liked was when we arrived at 4pm, it was busy of locals & tourist both in and outside, which continued til we left at 11pm, meaning that the Smugglers has a good rep with the locals. There was a mixture of all ages, couples, older generations, families throughout the night. All the hens were amazed with the quality of food and service we all had and I would like to personally thank Connor, Donna & Monica for hosting my hen and making it a night to remember! Cannot recommend the Smugglers enough!

If you want a fabulous night out with good food, great atmosphere and amazing entertainment then the Sumgglers is the place. Light and airy with fresh decor, this trendy beach bar has it all. Connor, one of the owners, is the perfect host and is attentive at all times. We had my daughters hen party there, and what a fantastic night it was. We were greeted by Connor at the door. Our food was delicious, hot, and plentiful and, within the price we had, Pimms on arrival, fresh pizzas, garlic bread, garlic bread with cheese, homemade chips, halomi fries, cheese and jalapeño balls and salads. Then we were treated to some delicious cakes. The entertainment was the wonderful Diana D and then karaoke and line dancing. I would highly recommend this bar where the staff make you feel so welcome.e and special. Well done, Connor, Donna, Monica, and all the staff xx

No atmosphere but bright and airy. The table was sticky and there was food under the table. My husband had the curry which he enjoyed, I had the Philly steak baguette, mushrooms were missing, it had thin slices of beef and full of onions and topped with overpowering plastic cheese. I was waiting to be asked if everything was ok but no one did and there was no staff around to ask. It wasn’t until I looked for the toilet that I found someone who worked there, I mentioned it to them and they just looked at me as though I had ‘two heads’. They weren’t bothered, we paid and left. Port Eynon is a lovely place, it deserves a better place to eat and drink than this.

This is one of only two places to have an evening meal in Port Eynon. We were hoping to find a more traditional pub, this is more trendy bar. We were hoping that the venue might have some vestige of history about it. Food was better than we expected although the price seemed a little high; to be fare though it’s probably the going rate on the Gower. The staff were all friendly. We ate their out of necessity as the only other venue is the Ship Inn (see separate review).

We were here last night to celebrate my cousins 40th birthday as a big family. We originally were going to do an outside event, but had to change a few days before due to bad weather. The Smugglers were absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, the drinks on offer were great but most importantly the staff were brilliant. A special mention to Conor who made it so perfect, really going above and beyond to make it a special night. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Came here for an evening drink while staying in the area. Service was average, drinks were average, prices were average. It was OK, but certainly didn't rush us off our feet.

We enjoyed the Smugglers Beach Bar & Kitchen so much, that we ate there 4 time in our 3 day stay in Port Eynon. They were so accommodating, they even made me a tuna melt baguette for lunch, which isn't even on their menu.
