Food really tasty, generous portion sizes and the staff were friendly and made you feel welcome from walking through the door

We have been to this restaurant a few times as a couple and have always thoroughly enjoyed our meals. This time we took the kids and they totally loved it too. The staff are friendly and very helpful - the owner is a lovely guy who goes out of his way to make sure that customers are happy. Portion sizes are very generous and the food is always piping hot and beautifully presented. The restaurant doesn't have a licence but the owner is happy to allow customers to bring in their own alcohol and in fact you can buy drinks from the pub next door and bring them in. Would highly recommend a visit - you won't be disappointed!

13 of us tonight ….. I was not lead booking but part of the party. We had to pre order the day before ….. therefore we walked through the door and it was served. Dishes were incorrect but rump magically became sirloin when suited. Was no offer of any starters either when probably at least ten of us would have ordered one. The mains were below standard and not very good value for money. One person waited 15 mins extra for their main and the staff attitude was poor. Again no offer of desserts which we would have ordered. Seemed overall and huge inconvenience…. Overall wouldn’t go again. Staff really need pointers, food very under standard and the value poor. Better value at spoons round the corner to be honest.

friendly laid back atmosphere. great food with plenty of choice, nothing is too much trouble. glad i found this place its now a regular spot to eat for me and the boys. the girls like it too when we bring them

This place is a real hidden gem. The steaks were cooked to perfection, one of the best I've ever had. The pulled pork was delicious and juicy. The personal service was the cherry on the cake. We'll definitely be back soon. 5*.

Fantastic burger and steakhouse! Had the most amazing double stacked firecracker burger and my friends had equally lush burgers. The burgers were some of the nicest I’ve ever had. It’s a must try!

What a great place! Great food, superb service, and a friendly and efficient team. Definitely out of the ordinary. The team of Lee, Lauren and Nicole (hope I got your names right!) made my simple takeaway order of a Chili Dog a really different experience to the bland anonymity of the large Americanized outlets. Will go back for the full Steak experience as there is a warm atmosphere not readily available elsewhere.

Just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Smokies in Hemsworth, we checked all the reviews and eventually came across this little steakhouse. Smokies is very small, but don't be put off by that because the food is delicious and the owner is a lovely guy who couldn't do enough for you. The prices are very reasoh nable l and the menu was ok, I would have liked to seen a little bit more choice but that's life. Well worth a visit if you want something different.

Visited smokies tonight and the food was amazing. Kids loved their meals and the fact they got to chalk on the chalkboard door. Lee the owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and the staff are really friendly. Don't be put off by a couple of bad reviews, a friendly small business and if there are any issues lee will go out of his way to fix them if mentioned at the time. One of our favourite places to eat so would highly recommend 😋

Absolutely outstanding food, really nice owner, good serice. Will 100% be returning even tho this is our 5th time here. Give it a try people, you wont be dissapointed.

Ordered 3 burgers with chips and sides for takeout. The chips were hard and stuck together in a clump and tasted awful. Burgers were tough and hard to eat. The corn on the cob consisted of 3 small pieces. Pit beans were nice and that’s it. I also ordered a can of pop that I paid for but I didn’t receive. For £35 it’s a complete rip off. Never again.

We were shown to our table, the waiter took 20 mins before taking our drinks order, then another 15 mins before taking our food menu, we was sat next to the door and could hear the chef shouting at the waiter about the food, when the food came, my steak was well done when I asked for med rare, and they got my child's meal completely wrong, she asked for chicken bites and chips and got a chicken burger

I follow Smokies on FB and the reviews and pictures look fantastic. We weren’t disappointed, the portions are huge and it’s delicious. The menu is varied so there’s something fir everyone. It’s exceptionally clean and the owner is on hand to make sure everything is ok. You can take your own alcohol and they sell soft drinks. I had a burger, it was delicious

Just been to Smokies tonight to give the missus a break from cooking.Was made very welcomed. Lee, the chef, adapted the Nachos with pulled pork starter for us as my missus doesn’t like spicy food. It was well balanced so both of us could enjoy, which we both did.The steak was cooked to perfection. Both of us were members of the clean plate club. Well done to Lee and his team. And in the words of Arnie “I’ll be back”.

Outstanding Restaurant. We tried the takeaway option first. The food was to die for. That’s the best Burger I have ever tasted. In fact all the food was great. The service was fantastic also. The whole experience from start to finish was really good. We will be eating in next time. Give it a try you will love it.

Decided to try this place. We didn’t book and very nearly didn’t get a table but thankfully the owner did his best to get us a table and I’m glad he did. We waited about 1/2 hour for the table and had a drink in the brewery tap next door and they came and found us in there to tell us our table was ready . Small restaurant with an American BBQ grill theme. Nice choice on menu. We chose steak and rib combo which was lovely and the Cumberland burger which was huge. Staff very friendly. This restaurant serves soft drinks but is not licensed so you can take your own alcohol if you want to. Will definitely go back. Would recommend booking a table.

Always good food steak was so tender chilli dog was very tasty. Would recommend to anyone. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed 👍😄

We came here to celebrate my father in laws 70th birthday, a small locally owned restaurant, it didn't disappoint. The menu had a wide enough choice to suit most, burgers, ribs, steak and veggie options. The food was well presented and the portions generous. The staff were friendly and the service prompt. We would definitely come again. If you want alcohol bring your own

We recently visited to celebrate my dad’s 70th with my fiancé & my brother & his wife, beautiful range of food, presentation was lovely, really nice touches such as coleslaw in little jars & the bill came in a tiny treasure chest. Really friendly staff that had a good sense of humour & delicious food cooked perfectly. Would love to visit here again when we are visiting family in Yorkshire & would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a restaurant to suit all kinds of tastes.

Came with family and friends. Staff were sociable , restaurant was clean if a little chilly ,food tasted great and portions were plentiful, bill wasnt expensive at all. 4 starters 4 mains with extras less than 70 quid. Will be using again

I visited smokies for the 1st time tonight . First impressions very cosy and friendly. There was a party in who were constantly going in and out to vape . Every time they did they left the door open as it was -1 °c outside and we were sat beside the door and had to keep getting up to close it . We asked the waitress if she could have a word she said " oh they seem like a rowdy lot I'm not saying anything as they may kick off " So we had to keep shutting the door. The food was ok hot tasty and presented well with a great selection of bbq sauces. What spoilt our evening was the waitress came and asked us if we wanted our bill while we were still drinking . I thought it was the customers perogitive to ask for there bill After the bill was delivered she was back after 2 minutes to see if we were ready now to settle the bill. We still had drinks at this time Also I had an extra side on a £7.95 burger off onion rings £2.95 for 2 greasy oinion rings was a bit excessive . So all on all food ok nothing special and service a bit shoddy and unprofessional

What a surprise that was had a pulled pork burger it was to die for its a small restaurant but very welcoming and the food is fabulous everything is cooked from fresh.It was the first time I had tried smokies but definitely not the last .

We have been to Smokies 6 times now and each time we have never been disappointed with the food or the service with waitresses we’ve had the steaks and the pulled pork and the pit dog hot dog,chilli and Nachos,we went last night I had a steak,chips,pit beans and my wife had Gammon and salad with some corn on the cobs and 3 dit’s lemonades.see you again soon.well done.

Went with family. Booked a table for three. Small homely place. Really friendly staff. My 11 year of did the kids challenge and got his name on the board. Food was fantastic and my husband said the ribs were the best he's had, and he loves ribs.

Both me and my Mrs loved both meals very nice. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again soon

Came as a group of 6 for a birthday, food was beautiful and full of flavour. Cost £95 for 6 adults for starters and mains which I think is extremely cheap considering the quality. Paid more for a couple in Leeds. Will visit again.

This place is completely under rated! Such a small venue but beautiful staff! They give a helpful authentic vibe and couldn’t be any happier to help if they tried. The food is very VERY! Well priced and simply beautiful. Theres many stuff not on the menu so be sure to check the boards or Facebook page so you get the best choice. Or ask. :-) they serve soft pop but no license for alcohol. There is however a shop next door which sell alcohol that they’re happy for you to BYO and drink on premises. I’d recommend the dirty beans. Baked beans with hidden BBQ pulled pork. I’ll be coming back to this hidden gem. Venue is small and a little odd to what you’d expect for a steak house but don’t knock it before you try.

Went with friends, first thing I noticed was how cold it was, eating out with your coat on isn't great, the service was good, polite, nice people, food, chicken burger was dry, the steak burgers were nice, that's it really just nice not great.

I went for a birthday gathering at smokies there was a lot of us all the food was amazing all came on time didn’t have to wait too long. You got to take your own drinks witch I like very much. Deserts all lovely and staff lovely. Will be back.

What a night. Good food good service. Price was very good. Take your own drinks makes it cheaper as well. Certainly be going back.

We'd been trying to get a table for ages but being a small restaurant that doesn't take bookings it took a while. The restaurant is well decorated and looks great. The service was likewise great. The only downside to layout is the toilets are in an outbuilding that you have to go round the back of the building and the courtyard is badly lit.

We had a family meal (9 of us) here on Friday and it was brilliant. Great service from Julie, very efficient waitress. Lovely food, all cooked to order, piping hot and very tasty. Great selection of food; steaks, burgers, ribs, gammon, super duper hotdogs with a choice of sides.

Burger was nice only got 8 chips not as Good as was told clean food took a long time to come no toilets in the place though more like a cafe than a restaurant

I've been trying to book in here for months and it's always fully booked - I now know why! It's absolutely fantastic. Great atmosphere with good music and the staff are so friendly. The food is exceptional with plenty of choice. The portions are massive, my husband had a triple burger and I got a large steak, both were fabulous. Take your own alcohol but you can buy soft drinks. I highly recommend and I'll be going back soon!

Visited over the Bank Holiday as was looking for something different to eat. Was impressed with the food we ordered and will be visiting again! It's lovely to see these eateries popping up and within walking distance from my house! Means we can enjoy a relaxing night without having to drive out of town!

Went for my partners 21st birthday staff were lovely helped us with banners, balloons and cake and even sung with us! As for the food... it was amazing there were 9 of us and not one person had a negative thing to say. It came fast, hot and very tasty will be returning again 10/10 would recommend

Tried Smokies for the first time this evening and we really enjoyed it. Food was tasty and plentiful and the service was really good. The most surprising thing was the price, much cheaper than expected, excellent value for money.

Went to Smokies yesterday, had a 16oz steak and my boyfriend had a food challenge but failed! the food was cooked perfectly, the service was brilliant, a lovely atmosphere, and cheap prices to top it off 👍

We had a variety of dishes from steaks to burgers to pulled pork. The people who had steaks said were lovely and tender but the ones who had burgers felt they were a bit dry. I had pulled pork and that was dry too.

Went with family including two children. Staff friendly, welcoming and good with the children. We had starters and a range of mains including steak, ribs and gammon with jackets and chips. All cooked well, good sized portions, ribs excellent and nicest jacket spud i've ever had, couldn't fault it. TGI's style food without the expense and byo booze which is always a plus.

My friends have been here a few times and always raved about it but last night was the first time I've been around to go too. I was not disappointed! I had an absolute mountain of pulled pork, chips and mini corn cobs everything was delicious, the range of sauces was also great, samples them all and settled on number 4 as my favorite. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing and I can't wait to go back and try more delicious BBQ food!

I visited twice in one week, once as a private party of 17 and the second with the other half. The serving staff were excellent on both visits, especially the first visit where there was a lot of food coming out at once with much of it being the similar to each other's and causing some confusion. A few mistakes were made but they sorted these no problem in a matter of minutes. On the second visit I didn't like that we weren't greeted at the door and instead had to walk towards the kitchen to speak to the waitress, who didn't come out, to ask where to sit, but no biggie. However I was absolutely gutted that I'd been told how nice the wings were by so many people and on both visits they had been taken off the menu. I would visit again but hopefully they'll have wings back by then!

Back again, been a few times now, love this place, the staff are great and the food is amazing, since my first visit some new dishes have arrived with more planned we learned, sorry the Mac and cheese and the pit beans ! Fire cracker burger is great !

We pre booked to go here tonight. When we arrived it was already quite full. We were seated quickly by a lovely waitress. She took our order and, to my surprise, it came within 10 minutes. After one bite I knew why - it was cold and greasy. I had ordered pulled pork. I sent it back, saying it was greasy and cold and they brought out a new one with no problems at all. Unfortunately, although this new one was hot, it was still very greasy and I just couldn't eat it. The staff were great about this and knocked us some money off the bill, which I really appreciated. My husband enjoyed his burger though, and the other people in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying their meals, so it may have just been the pork that was not right.

Thus was our second visit to the lovely steakhouse, the good us fantastic, good value, very friendly staff and good atmosphere, look forward to going back again soon.

When we pulled up outside it wasn't what we expected, the restaurant is located on a little row of shops, looks like a converted take away. The place around 8/10 tables and has been decorated with a diner kind of theme. When we walked in the young waitress was very polite, unfortunately they had ran out of wings so we had cheesy garlic bread instead which was really nice.

Visited this fantastic place for the first time last night as a group of 6 adults. All the food is freshly prepared and reflected 100% in the taste and flavour of the food which is the best we've had in a long time. The staff were amazing and even the chef (owner) took time out of the kitchen to come over and have a chat. The most friendly and welcoming place we've had the pleasure to stumble upon and taking your own alcohol is always a bonus to us. Prices were more than reasonable and I would recommend it to anyone. Can't wait for our return visit which we booked before we left last night without hesitation.

Came here tonight, absolutely gorgeous food. I had the "chicken wing roulette" for a starter, however they had no wings but exchanged these for cuts of breast. Had the full rack of ribs which were beautifully cooked and tasted amazing. Staff were eager to help when it came to not having wings (offered to change these for breast) and were constantly making sure everything was ok brilliant value for money and we all left full. The place is unlicensed meaning you bring your own beer; saving us money on alcohol, a definite plus for us.

Absolutely loved it. Great for big appetites. Had a great big burger and it did not fail. Will be going again soon in the future.

We went for our first visit this evening, is local to us and had seen good of reports on a friend's Facebook comments,was not disappointed at all, the standard of the food was amazing, the portions are good, we struggled to finish them but we did share some sticky wings as a starter, which were excellent, the choice of sauces is a nice touch, would recommend the rack of ribs, best I have ever had. The owner and chef are very friendly and chatty, small a great atmosphere, we look forward to visiting there again. We went midweek, didn't need to book as we went early but recommend booking on a Friday or Saturday night. Is great to have something different in Hemsworth to get a good quality meal.

Well I thought let's give this new place a go. So glad I did, excellent value and good food. Couldn't eat all we ordered because of the generous servings. We are booked in for next Saturday for a friends birthday, really looking forward to it.

Went here with freinds and i had the Cumberland burger. Awesome sausage and burger with smoky bacon on it was awsome.freinds also enjoied their food its quite cheap too

I visited with a group of 7 friends for a birthday meal, despite us messing up the book and only booking for 6 they were great and moved us to another table with little fuss.

Visited here a few times in last few weeks and all I can say is its fantastic! Brilliant food at a good price ( I would recommend the chicken wings!). Cracking atmosphere and excellent staff. I will definitely be visiting again in the near future

Went here the other night and had what in my opinion was the best burger i have ever had(and i have had a lot) Lovely place as well with friendly staff well worth a visit. I am glad i live close i will be a regular.

Smokies has a brilliant atmosphere, extremely lovely staff and the food is amazing! Has a very personal feel to it and the staff will do anything for you! Prices are very fair and I wouldn't have problem with paying more for the quality of food you receive. Portions are more than enough even though you squeeze in every last scrap as its that good! Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
