Robatary in Wakefield

Went in on the off chance after spending day in Wakefield. Luckily didn't have to book in advance and a table was available. Me and my partner went for the two courses for a set price and they had a children menu available too for my son. The food came out hot and freshly done without having a long wait for it. The amount of food on the plate was more than enough. We was celebrating our anniversary to which I asked when we had dessert if they could do anything special on my partners plate, to which at my surprise they brought a plate with hand written Happy Anniversary in white chocolate and edible flowers. 5 out of 5 for the food, 5 out of 5 for service and 5 out of 5 for them all going beyond the extras to make it special for myself and partner with our son also loving the experience. Had the set menu for Mother’s Day and the food was brilliant, never had a bad meal here and the service was fantastic as always. Every dish was delicious!

Robatary has always been a great spot for me and my friends. Unfortunately, the dish I always have had fallen short. The Crispy Chili Chicken with rice was just too salty for me to eat. The other food my friends had was still nice though. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant was till great, a good selection of drinks too. The place was clean and tidy. I will be back, but I hope the food is less salty!

Visited here a few times…had some great meals and some not so good (was once served undercooked chicken…I’m talking raw in the middle) but always like to give places benefit of the doubt. Went on a Saturday a night and was good to see it busy, there’s always something reassuring about a busy restaurant. Our drinks order was taken swiftly and food order not long after, good start. Thats where the good things end. We waited nearly an hour for food that was inedible when it was served. The duo of duck! Nothing good to say. Could barely cut through the breast…it didn’t taste good at all. Seemed like it had been quickly defrosted in a microwave and thrown on a grill! The sauce was…unusual. My partner had the Katsu chicken. Chicken was seconds from full cremation and not even sure where the Katsu was! So was basically burnt chicken and stick rice! Staff were working hard, but didn’t once check in on how our meal was, it was only when we asked for the bill and they saw we still had pretty much full plates did they ask if everything was ok. Restored some faith by not charging us for the meal!! One too many questionable meals here so won’t be visiting again.

Amazing food, I wouldn't even say on the pricey side. It's refreshing to go to a restaurant and pay that little bit more and that cost be mirrored in the quality of the food! Probably had some of best garlic bread I've ever had with the Mac n cheese! Service is brilliant here, staff are polite and conscientious. Had to give 1 less staff as there is no baby change/ baby change in the gents toilets and I had to change my son on the floor in a cubicle.

i attended there on the 29th of jan for a staff do and there was one waiter there which really stood out, he was checking up on our table, joking around with us, and even doing some table side theatre which made our experience there 10x better, i believe this guys name is fatiha, he claimed it was his first day but he looked to good for it to be his first day, overall the food was alright, the duck which i ordered was a tiny bit chewy and my wok loaded chips were cold which was a tad annoying.

Absolutely amazing experience as always....Reece is exceptional at his job and one of the reasons we return.....the food is amazing especially the tapas...an overall amazing restaurant ❤️❤️❤️

Real mixed bag. We had 4 starters and the Sunday dinners (Chicken and beef). First the bad, the chicken thogh meatballs were shocking. No flavour, tasted sour, really bad. Tempura prawns were OK, but 4 prawns for £10 is really poor value. The seaweed that came with the prawns was chewy and not Crispy. Burnt ends and Sriricha ribs were good. Sunday dinner was really good.

Second time visiting and as good as I remembered, my cousin who I I introduced it to loved it so much she went back a few days later to find there was a midweek offer on too. Food is gorgeous with loads of great options. A lovely place with nice decor and friendly staff.

Walked past and dropped in for a quick lunch and stuck around as we were so pleasantly surprised. A lovely menu with beautiful decor. The waitress that served us could have been a little happier but as a waitress I get it, but maybe loose the chewing gum. Will be returning :)

Never had a bad meal..always spot on..staff very polite and and attentive without being obtrusive ..love this place, come regularly with grand daughter

Terrible service as the restaurant manager looks down at people and worst experience ever. Would not recommend this restaurant at all.

We have visited Robatary on many occasions and it’s never provided us with anything other than a great experience. The staff are really friendly and are always on hand to assist you. The menu offers a wide range of both small plates as well as larger main meals. On our most recent visit, we ordered; (small plates) duck pancakes, duck fried gyozas, (large plates) katsu chicken curry and crispy chilli beef. The duck pancakes came with a hoisin dipping sauce and were really flavoursome. With the gyozas, you actually get a choice of whether you want them deep fried or steamed and a choice of two different dipping sauces as well. We opted for deep fried with the miso sauce- I would highly recommend. The main dishes were also really tasty and well presented, the portions are huge as well! The only slight complaint I have is that the egg fried rice that the crispy chilli beef comes with, was a little too goopy on this visit, another minute or so and it would’ve been perfect. Other than that though, I really can’t complain and on top of that, they also have 25% off the whole menu between 5PM-7PM as part of their early bird special! This restaurant is well worth a visit, we will definitely be returning again soon.

Fabulous atmosphere ,staff were amazing coudnt do enough for us .We had a lovely time my son and family from Blackpool and then the rest of us .The menu is different and beautifully served .And amazingly material serviettes not bits of tissue that disintegrates as soon as you touch them . Everyone thought the food delicious and it really was ..I will be going again .My son says that’s the only place he wants to go for a meal when he visits next time .Well done to the staff and chefs very impressed .

Visited a few times over the last couple of years and has always been great. This visit really wasn’t great. Starters, bland and flavourless. When the waiter collected our plates he asked how we found the starters so we replied ‘ok, quite bland’ and he replied ‘that’s brilliant’… clearly in robot mode not listening! Then the mains were marginally better, but still bland and lacking for the price. The chicken katsu was no better than something I could have ordered from a Wetherspoons. No opportunity to provide feedback as no one asked us. We left feeling really disappointed, especially for the price… I really don’t think we will waste our time coming here again which is a shame as it has a lot of potential!

Food lovely, service very slow Pretty poor when you get given a dessert spoon between 2 people to stir espresso coffees, which were Luke warm , so ordered 2 more coffees and got ,wait for it …. 2 straws each to stir coffees!!! One waitress got an attitude by trying to give us the dessert spoon we had to stir coffee with as a dessert spoon , got a bit of a huff on when we asked for 2 spoons to eat our desserts with .

Food took 1hour to arrive, burger was so dry I wouldn’t have fed it to my dog, nobody ever asked if the food was okay so had no opportunity to say it’s bad. We sat for 30min waiting for the bill only to go up and find all the waiters standing at the bar. When they cleared the table and my full plate of food they still didn’t ask if it was okay

After 5 years I risked going back.. The only good thing was the nice server. The food is still average but sky high prices for what you get quality and quantity wise Overpriced

Service was prompt if a little unprofessional- a lot of noise coming from kitchen area which was between waiters and kitchen staff having some kind of joke . I ordered burnt bits pork belly which was fine. I also ordered noodles which were incredibly salty and chicken wings in soy The chicken was terrible- tough - dry and inedible I told the waiter and a slight discount was offered. A very mediocre, forgettable experience.

We came here for our Christmas do on the back of previous good service and food. Firstly let me say the food was nice ( when it finally arrived!). Our problem was with the service. In the past service in this restaurant has been excellent but I’m not sure there’s been a change in staff but last nights service was so slow . Over an hour between started and mains ( with an excuse that it was the grilled chicken which too so long!). Also we found staff were either surly and unsmiling or way over the top. It’s a shame because for some reason standards have slipped in what used to be one of the nicest restaurants.

First of all the place was freezing the toilet was full of water one of staff said they had a leak then why wasn’t it mended really shoddy toilets. The wait time was over a 1 hour when there was only 2 other people in some more came in and they served their food before ours. They had run out of everything it wasn’t very good when they had no ice cream for kids so had to go somewhere else for it. What really let it down was they said they didn’t have any coffee and couldn’t make any espresso Martinis think they just couldn’t be bothered. All in all our total bill was £500 so we would like some refund we went on Sunday 3rd of December at 5 pm and there was 12 of us with 3 kids.

Iona was fantastic at her job and think she deserves a pay rise excellent service.

Excellent restaurant with relaxing decor and great atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is spot on! Sunday lunch is a must. The steak night is great value, and the menu is varied with good quality meals!

Went for our Christmas team night out, food was excellent, staff gave exceptional service, was a lovely experience, will definitely recommend and will be returning.

Went for Sunday lunch and ended up having scallops for starter the Goza dumplings and beef tatiki was absolutely gorgeous loved every mouthful My husband had the steak and lobsters and was equally impressed Will definitely be returning

This place came as a recommendation and unfortunately I was left incredibly disappointed with the food. My starter was scallop sashimi, it was tasty but the portion size was tiny! It looked like one scallop and it cost me £12.50 which is overpriced for what was served. My main didn’t get any better, I ordered ramen with prawns for £17 and it was the blandest saltiest ramen I’ve ever eaten! There was absolutely no depth of flavour and it was almost like they’d thrown in some ready prepared stir fry mix, I’ve never had red peppers and red onion in a ramen…I decided not to have dessert as I assumed it would be as disappointing as the rest of it. I can only assume by some of the recommendations I’ve seen and even my friends that maybe before they have served better food but for our visit it was awful and I’ve been left very disappointed and cheated from the money I’ve had to part with for such terrible food!

Firstly, a huge thanks to Hadyn for excellent service- friendly and professional, dealing with all our extra needs ( my SIL has allergies and he was incredibly well-informed). The food is good, but...We have been coming to Robatary for years now and the portion sizes are ever-decreasing; the Tataki beef is half the size it was 8 months ago and the Gyoza serving is only 4. The Tempura prawns are no longer true Tempura and at 9 pounds were a little disappointing. The burger was great as were the chips! The portions either need increasing or the prices slightly lowering. Thanks to the service though we did have an excellent afternoon.

Vegetarian starter and main course nice, lots of flavour and sauce. Starter of crab and main course of tuna terrible, dry and not flavour. Drink OK, few cocktails and beers. Discount offered to bill which was accepted but still doesn't change the quality of food. The service was decent.

Lovely food and ambience, very nicely decorated and great service. We had Bao buns and dumplings to start, both were tasty and plentiful, mains, crispy beef and rice and a sandwich with chips, lovely crispy beef, a little sweet for me but offset by lots of spicy chilli and spring onions, so much I had to take some to eat later! My friend really enjoyed her chicken and bacon sandwich and was disappointed that we had to leave some chips there were so many. We had a bottle of wine at £20 which was very good and free water on the table, the whole bill was under £70 which was great for what we had. One big negative - the ladies toilets, why on earth is the lighting so gloomy?? I saw the men’s was lit up like Christmas but the ladies has such subdued lighting you couldn’t put lipstick on or potentially look for sanitary products, let alone see to use them! I also pity anyone with any kind of disability (sight in particular) it was so dim you could do with a torch! Get it sorted, it’s ridiculous style over substance!

Made order through their own website. Order got cancelled by the restaurant (I had to call them to find out, no contact from their end.). Was assured it wouldn't be charged / undone within 10 days. It was not. Called them, would have it sorted by 'monday because saturdays are busy'. Nothing. No responses, no solutions, no contact. Had to do a chargeback through bank. Avoid. It's a shame, the food is actually decent quality.

I don't usually get round to writing reviews, but these guys definitely deserve one! For my wife's birthday, I decided to book somewhere we'd not been before, and having spotted Robatory earlier in the year, I thought we'd check them out. I'm soooo glad we did! Robatory is cosy feeling (without sitting on top of each other) kind of place. Relaxed and unpretentious, cool and friendly. From the second we walked in, the staff were great ... all of them. From the front of house to the back. Relaxed and normal chat and banter ... it felt like we'd known them all for years .... which is a great thing when you just was a nice night ... if that makes sense? As for the food ..... 🥰 .... we had to ask the chef what he'd recommend, because there were at least 9 things on that menu that I could have demolished! Unlike many places, when you ask a question like this, they tell you the most expensive thing on the menu. Not the case here at all ... we told them what we'd narrowed our options down to, and then they told us what they'd order for themselves. We had a couple of Gyoza to start with (and they were every bit as good as the ones we'd tried in China some years ago), and for our mains we went for the Crispy Chilli Beef and I had a Roba Burger .... and when they arrived, we knew the recommendations were spot on ... as we both had menu envy over what we'd both ordered! We also had a side of Burnt Ends .... strange name I guess but just try them! 🥰 I could keep writing, but hopefully by this point you've already to book yourselves a table!

Dropped in here for our wedding anniversary. Was met by a very friendly chap called Rhys . He took care of us from that moment on ! Free round of drinks for our anniversary was a lovely touch . I wanted a starter portion of a main dish .. “ no problem “ was the reply . Great food , nice atmosphere and fantastic staff . We will be back !’ ( Rhys is a credit to this restaurant)

Fantastic Sunday Lunch ,Roast beef was fantastic ,plenty of vegetables and lovely Yorkshire pudding.

Easily the best restaurant in Wakefield. Some of the best food I’ve had my whole life, everything I get here seems to be delicious without a doubt. I’ve been here multiple times and will always keep coming back. Both food and drink are out of this world. Such a perfect spot for a date too since the atmosphere is just so good. Great decor with small intimate lighting for the tables, makes it really feel like it’s just you and the person across from you dinning alone. My parents have also visited the place and weren’t fans of the Asian inspired food so it’s something to keep in mind but regardless a great spot for drinks even if you’re not interested in the food.

Really tasty Sunday lunch, attentive staff, great vegetarian options and the tastiest Singapore Sling I’ve had in a looong time! Always worry about taking my partner for a roast as he is a chef but even he loved it. Will defo be back.

This hidden gem is amazing! The moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm, cozy decor and friendly staff. The menu is authentic and the presentation makes the food even more delectable. It's the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal in an intimate setting.

Love this place! We frequently come to Robatary, Qbana, Finos and Icon for lunch and drinks. Today has definitely been the best time I’ve ever had at Robatary. The food was fresh. Service was impeccable (as always) especially 2 twins that work at Robatary (I didn’t catch your names but you are both LEGENDS) they went the extra mile to ensure that we was happy. Asking if we needed refills on drinks, water etc and much more! They deserve a raise and was a pleasure meeting them again. Not to mention the 2 women that was also serving us today, they were very kind, generous, funny and a delight to be around. 100% recommend should be #1 Best Restaurants in Wakefield. -Connor, Malcolm, Dave and Sheila

I have been coming here for years and always heartily recommend this restaurant; this is one of my favourite spots in the North. However, sadly I have to caution you - on Fridays, a DJ blasts happy hardstyle club music at a volume that makes it very difficult to have a pleasant dinner and conversation, which is something the ambiance of the Robatary is geared towards and what I go to it for. Its lighting and atmosphere is gorgeous and the food is very good, with friendly and attentive staff. The Robatary is a wonderful restaurant well worth a visit - just not on a Friday, at least until management remembers that they aren't a 2007 rave once a week. (No hate to the DJ himself; he was fine. It's just not atmosphere appropriate.) Friday nights should be booming for the Robatary - but it was dead as a doornail during prime evening hours during my visit yesterday. Usually I hang around for dessert and a second drink, but my partner and I decided to head off because we couldn't hear each other.

Don't go if you're hungry,( small portions) very slow service. Waited almost an hour for bill, even though we asked several times. Could have easily walked, but they had my brother in laws phone number. Don't think we will be back.

We were served by Logan ,he was friendly and helpful,it was our first time here,so that was good.We choose from the lunchtime tapas menu,the food was excellent and very tasty.While looking at the extensive menu we realised we will be coming back ,so much to choose from and the staff were fab.

Food was OK but the service was terrible! Took 2 and a half hours for us to receive and eat 1 course. The bill was also incorrect. Please don't do meal deals and charge full price!!!!

Beautiful restaurant, wonderful food and amazing service! The waitress was attentive, the food was cooked perfectly and was a very good portion for the price :) Highly recommend.

We ordered dine at home spent £67 Saturday eve, waited 90 mins only to get the wrong order. We rang to be told we'd have to wait yet another 90mins for our food ! When we asked for a refund we were told not until Monday! 3/4 hr later our order arrived despite cancelling however the order was missing a meal and the beetroot houmous looked like purple slop and pitta bread was smeared with dried houmous despite being packaged separate.

Went in for a quick lunch and ordered the shawarma, salt and pepper chicken safe to say there was no flavour on the chicken, it was purely burnt roast chicken real shame!

First time this evening - waiter was lovely at the start but no check back on drinks or food. I’d say the food was average unfortunately - too much sesame oil in the rice, chicken skewers were very dry, rips incredibly dry. The pork bao buns were lovely but missed the extra pizazz, stir fry chips were nice - tempura prawns were ok. I wouldn’t return unfortunately but maybe it would be better on another night.

Had some friends visit from all over the world visit us in lil Wakefield. We decided to come here totally spontaneously one evening. Will was a wonderful host, and Brit brought along some gorgeous cocktails. The food was superb. All of us thoroughly enjoyed it....

My partner and I had the rump steak, chips, dessert and drinks. Was a nice meal and the servers are friendly.

First time eating here it was a really great experience. The host/head manager looked after us very well. He was so polite and friendly. The food was amazing too, we had Wagyu and Crispy Beef!
