Smiths at Gretna Green Hotel in Dumfries & Galloway

Rooms a bit dated if staying again would request a front room didnt get much sleep as room was to the back and the motorway noise kept us awake the breakfast was excellent

Amazing hotel with lots of parking, very modern feeling and friendly staff who couldnt do enough for you. We were blown away by our stay in the Ash suite and would go recommend to anyone.

Stopped here on the way up to Scotland for the night using their motorhome britstop facility, had a lovely evening meal and Buffett breakfast next morning before heading north. Amazing food in a beautiful place.its right next to the Gretna green blacksmiths. The motorway does run right behind it so there is a bit of road noise but that didn't bother us.

Receptionist really nice and friendly. We went for an afternoon tea was very average is all l will say.

Wonderful place to stay. The rooms are comfy and warm, the service is impeccable and the food excellent.

We booked a table for afternoon tea. Easy parking and a warm welcome. The food and the service were excellent. We would highly recommend and it was lovely to see several newlyweds from the iconic Gretna Green enjoying their food.

Where do I start? Amazing place to get married. Staff can't do enough to make it special and all about you. Bianca was particularly great. Nothing was too much trouble. Wish we could do it all again!

Very dirty rooms stains everywhere but staff friendly

I drove over 30 miles on Monday at 1.00 pm to purchase vouchers for Xmas to be told it was on line only. I explained I had no printer or the way with all to do this. However the receptionists not interested, I also work in the hospitality sector and I would have went that bit more to help and resolve the customers request. I did however take my valued custom elsewhere and the service was amazing.

Got married at gretna green on the 8th Nov. Hotel was lovely and the staff were all exceptional

Stayed here for 1 night for pre wedding arrangements.Room was generous size,small issues with bathroom finishes and stains on carpet in bedroom area.Positives on our stay were, very friendly staff,good food and service in restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Also if here to book a wedding the wedding planning team are excellent, Emily really looked after us.

For a four star hotel it's looking a tad shabby. Mould on the tiles under the shower really isn't acceptable.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Tom(?) was brilliant, always smiling having a chat and couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were nice, a little outdated, but clean and comfortable. As for the food, fantastic, every dish we had was so tasty, well presented and plentiful. The breakfast was a "help yourself" buffet style, it was topped up regularly and was really nicely cooked. Would recommend a stay while in the area.

This hotel is an absolut disgrace by taking and keeping my funds because I had to cancel due to an illness, NEVER will I recommend using them for any purpose whatsoever!

Was really nervous about our wedding on 4th November after reading some reviews last minute. However we had such a blessed time. We had nothing to worry about at all. The venue was lovely. The food was incredible (not just the wedding food but the resteraunt too). Rooms were clean and suitable, yes tired but no concerns at all. We were made to feel very special and everything was well organised and planned by the wedding hosts. Such a relaxed, joy filled weekend and wedding day. Anyone who is getting married in the original blacksmiths room, I highly recommend and also adding the Scottish Piper was such an emotional experience to pipe myself into the room. Yes there was 1 lady on reception who clearly hated her job and needed cheering up, but the rest of the staff were absolutely incredible. Can't stop thinking about the whole weekend and all of our guests enjoyed themselves too.

Hotel was clean and tidy . The breakfast help your self was excellent. The food in the restaurant was excellent and well priced . Enjoyable 3days.

The bathroom tub was really dirty,

Rooms are vile, smell from Bathroom, walls covered in water marks, stains on carpets, how this hotel is rated 4* is beyond believe

Just back from our wedding the experience as whole was amazing the smiths hotel staff were fantastically amazing nothing was too much trouble always pleasant and friendly the room we had was perfect, the food was five 🌟 will be arranging a future visit.

Wedding couple and 12 guests stayed here 2 nights, was perfect in everyday apart from some other wedding guests who were disrespectful but that's not a fault of the venue

Were booked in for two nights and decided to upgrade to the cottages. Everything about it was really good untill today. We were out for the day and came back to find housekeeping had been in. They started to clear the bathroom of our stuff which was put in a plastic bag. My wife's stuff taken off it's hangers and packed into her bag. Bathroom was cleared of our stuff an put in a plastic bag. Fridge was cleared of things we had there and threw out. Seems before they went too far they were in the wrong room. So they have managed to spoil what was up to now a good stay. Would have given this a better star rating if this hadn't happened.

The room could have been updated. a little old-fashioned but very clean

We got married on 8th June at The famous forge wedding venue as a runaway wedding it was fantastic and The Smiths hotel just over the road, accommodation a little tired but very clean and welcoming, had a meal here in the evening which was lovely but we chose to got to The old toll cafe in village lovely place with character as being the first building of scottland breakfast was really good. Never had haggis before or patties so first time for those in the full Scottish breakfast

Great hotel to stay, great food and service.

We recently had a wedding here and it was fantastic. The day ran very smoothly and the staff were excellent, the rooms in the hotel are lovely and clean . The hotel really is a outstanding hotel. Massive Thank You to all the hotel staff that made our wedding day very special

Lovely room but bathroom was shocking, toilet wouldn't work etc. staff unhelpful and spoiled the stay. Thankfully it was just a stop over

The room would be a 5 except it was let down by the bathroom, which was tired. That said the staff were very welcoming and the whole experience of our stay was excellent.

Stayed here as part of a wedding package. The staff were very nice and always on hand to help out. The room was extremely clean and very well decorated. The food was excellent and could not be faulted. One of the best hotels I've stayed in.

Wonderful nights stay , food excellent and staff excellent, we are staying here for our wedding in September, we thought we would check out our venue, glad we did, more excited about our wedding than ever before , perfect 👌
