Okay food good service but dog friendly area was very small and only had stools to sit on.

Great live music and food venue. It can get very busy so booking is a must. The staff are friendly and prices are reasonable for drinks and a quite extensive and eclectic food menu. There was a brilliant live band called 'Itchycoo Park' playing 60s music in the lounge and they had the place jumping!

We popped in for drinks to check it out before a meal and a band the following night .Given a warm welcome and offered a high seat at the bar.Sampled a few cocktails and Guinness ,bar man even mixed one that wasn't on the list .Yummy .Place is comfortable, welcoming and beautifully decorated .We left very relaxed and a wee bit merry.2nd night we had booked a table for food before the band started at 4 .Place was busy then got busier but nothing staff couldn't cope with .We ordered a selection of tapas & fries to share ,4 pints of Guinness and 3 cocktails .Food was lovely and freshly cooked . Very happy .Enjoyed our drinks while watching the band (which we came especially to see) .Happy days ❤️

Great central place to meet up with my family. With plenty of free parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of food to choose from even for the vegetarians in our party.

A nice restaurant with decent food. Never had any tapas dishes I didn't enjoy. There's gluten-free options, which are coeliac safe. The bartenders are really lovely, and went above and beyond to make a special birthday cake "jar" at Christmas - very kind and creative!

What a superb restaurant on the Moffat main street. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The food is delicious, with an excellent Scottish inspired tapas selection. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with nice comfy seating. Well worth a visit !! 👍🏼👍🏼

Enjoyed a great dinner then went back for coffee and cake the following day. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Would highly recommend. We shared the artisan bread and olives then each had two tapas dishes which was more than enough. I enjoyed the calamari and the tart of the day and salad which were both delicious.

Really enjoyed our coffees, breakfast roll and very delicious warmed cheese scone. Dog friendly and efficient smiley service and great background music as a bonus! The rest of the menu looked excellent too and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are near.

Two couples met up for coffee and lunch. A very nicely furnished place with comfortable chairs and a relaxed atmosphere. I had the fish chowder which was excellent and the other members had tapas and other dishes which got the five star thumbs up. Desserts were amazing, I had the Belgian waffles with a lovely topping The staff were really pleasant and helpful and served us in an unhurried but efficient manner.

myself and my husband visited on Friday night for food and drink. there was a slight problem with one of our tapas dishes but the staff were absolutely fantastic and it was all delt with and no issues. out waitress Lenni I think her name was couldnt have been more helpful. the food was amazing and so were the cocktails

Best restaurant in Moffat....just wow

Buzzing place even at lunchtime. Tapas was good service excellent

We were a coach party of 52, booked in for morning coffee.. staff are fabulous, coffee lovely, strong and hot, and the scones..( with butter and jam) were freshly made that morning.. delicious!! Staff came round a few times with refills of tea and coffee...very impressive, first class..well worth a visit!

Visited Hugo’s a couple of years ago and thought it was good, so a return was planned when next in Moffat. Things have clearly changed with regards the food on offer. The menu looked decent with plenty of options, however the quality of food was very disappointing. A prawn dish was delivered with two raw prawns, good job these were spotted as they were smothered in a sauce. This not only put us off this dish but all the others as we felt we had to check everything prior to eating. When mentioned to staff, it was taken away with no apology, but asked if we wanted anything else. Later, the same person returned and said the chef apologised and that the prawn dish would be taken off the bill. We won’t be returning for a third visit!

The reviews are true...this is indeed a gem. We had a stopover lunch driving towards Edinburgh and we were delighted. Too hungry so we didn't take any photos. Had Soup (chicken and rice) and Hot Pot (leek and onion), I want them again! Pretty village (Moffot) to stopover.

Hugos is not a typical Scottish pub but a cool bar with delicious Scottish tapas and good beer.

Gem of a discovery on a solo night-stop in Moffat. Lovely atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food, good value. I had the goats cheese with chilli jam, and the baked seabass. Both were beautifully prepared and presented.

Breakfast for 6 of us. Nice selection of options from traditional to more unusual. Haggis and scrambled egg on toast, eggs benedict, etc. The service was very friendly and polite. Quality of food was good and worth the price, which was obviously more than nearby cafes.

Like most of Moffat a very dog (and human ) friendly establishment , a very busy place and all the dog friendly inside seats were taken when we arrived , I would have given the five stars if the people without dogs were incouraged to use the area set aside for people without dogs and this would have allowed us a seat inside.

Fantastic visit to Hugos. Everything was perfect.......menu choices, food, drinks and cocktails, service, decor, ambience, furniture and furnishings, cleanliness. Highly recommended and we will definitely return. Just wish I lived closer!

Food is very overpriced for the quality of what you get. Ordered the sliders and the stale bun was just the beginning, the ingredients used were not those which were on the menu or what we ate! Many drinks not available and atmosphere utterly dead! Hard no!

We switched plans at the last minute and decided to meet in Moffat, I chose Hugo's somewhat randomly as a result, thinking that it looked like the tapas would accommodate our varying tastes. The restaurant was pleasant, clean, music not intrusive, nicely decorated, etc. Busy but not rammed. Super comfortable chairs and big tables. We ordered a sharing vegetarian plate and a sharing seafood plate. The portions were generous but, most importantly, the food was really delicious. The mozzarella and tomato tart was freshly cooked, the risotto totally delicious, great fish selection and delicious veggie treats. I should also mention that a food allergy was accommodated with ease. With drinks and coffee, it all came in about £25-30 a head. Have to say, we were all really pleased with our choice. Congrats to this restaurant!

We stopped in to Hugo’s for lunch and had such great food. We hadn’t booked but were able to get a table despite it being busy. The three of us had the halloumi and chutney focaccia and it was so good! There was lots of halloumi on the sandwich (which is not common) in lots of other restaurants. We also shared some skinny fries which were nice too. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Absolutely amazing for gluten free- a great find when passing through Moffat after a day of hiking. They had lots of GF items on their menu, clearly labelled. I have a few tapas dishes- hallumi and sweet chilli nachos, beef chorizo and chickpea stew, fries (from a dedicated gluten free fryer). And a lemon meringue pie with ice cream for desert. Superb knowledge about cross contamination and it’s such a lovely trendy spot with beautiful decor and friendly staff. Thanks again!

Our experience was not good... It seemed like a good place, because of the atmosphere and the look of the dishes, but the feeling was not satisfactory. They took a long time to arrive at the table, a salad ordered never arrived and neither did a drink included in the children's menu. The dishes and flavors of the "normal" food, without more. Some of the waiters treated us pleasantly, but others were somewhat dry, making it uncomfortable.

Popped in on the way up the road and was not disappointed.

The range of dishes on the menu board posted outside and the attractive seasonal window display tempted us to book a table for the following evening. The food was tapas style small plates. Great care was taken to check the dishes as being suitable gluten free options. Everything was beaitifully presented, delicious and obviously freshly prepared. BUT... Being aware of the seasonal high demand, we had agreed in advance to vacate our table by a specific time to accomodate others. We were reminded of this on 3 occassions by 2 members of staff. Then told this wasn't the case and we could keep the table for as long as we needed! On arriving, most tables were unoccupied but we had to wait for the table to be cleared, cleaned and set; no issue with that but a menu, drinks or wine list would have been appteciated. So the food scored highly and with some small tweeks the service could easily be made to match.

Delicious food and great service. Only negative thing was an overwhelming smell of disinfectant or cleaning fluid where we sat near the bar.

Lovely food and very nice people. Restaurant was stylish and comfortable. Large TV with football on, which nobody was watching, was slightly out of place but did not spoil the evening. Very pleasant evening.

Only intended on having a beer outside, which was good btw.Then we saw someone’s Tapas being served to a couple on the balcony. Decided to give it a go inside the restaurant as we love Tapas & we weren’t disappointed. Ordered 3 choices …Harissa lamb meatballs, haddock goujons & cooked goat’s cheese & beetroot plus a side of hand cut chips. Plenty for 2, each dish delicious. Liked it so much that we’re going again before our holiday is over! Proper genuinely friendly, helpful team run the restaurant, which adds to the dining experience. Definitely recommend 👍

Love Moffat. Hugos is fabulous. Each time i try a different dish and never disappointed. David the wonderful waiter suggested fish cakes in pea puree and i had home cur chips. Sorry no photos but it was piping hot and delicious and was eaten promptly. After a long journey from Harrogate towards Glasgow this is always the oerfect place. See you soon

Lovely friendly staff, we sat outside with our dog and we weren't sure we were trendy enough for such a glamorous place, but prices were reasonable and my son fancied a beer after hiking the Hart Fell horseshoe! Delicious olives. My elderly mum and I asked for a martini and lemonade and were served an incredible martini/gin cocktail - yum!

Absolutely loved this place and everything about it. Lovely decor, wonderful food and excellent service from the two young staff - their parents should be proud of them. We will definitely be back.

Went twice recently - super fast service - tapas all lovely - with good selection. Maybe a bit of background music in rear restaurant as lacked wee bit of atmosphere - but didn't put us off as we came back the next day.

Reserved a table for 4 people, visiting friends looking forward to a lovely afternoon meal, copious cocktails and a long awaited catch-up! Arrived, table was being wiped over, we were seated and given menus. We were about to order when we were told that ‘an earlier booking for 6 had reserved our table!’ and could we sit at the back near the vending machine & coffee machine (a notoriously poorly placed table that nobody likes being seated at). We were not willing to move, but the waitress stressed that the reservation was made earlier than ours and left us no option but to leave without eating, witnessed by other customers. All of us were absolutely disgusted. What kind of establishment allows such poor management of simple table bookings that results in such rude treatment of customers? They ought to be ashamed of how they treated us today. Appalling experience and we will never use, nor recommend, this place. Save yourself the humiliation and go elsewhere in Moffat. We walked straight into the Moffat House Hotel and was very impressed, they saved of the day!! Show less

We thought the restaurant was nicely decorated, we liked the idea it was tapas as myself and grandson are not 'big portion' eaters and it did vegetarian dishes. I chose arancini which, when it arrived was very spicy, a point not mentioned on the menu, so I could not eat them. No alternative was offered when we informed staff! My daughter chose a side of patatas bravas which, when they arrived, looked like left over, overcooked tiny pieces of chips, inedible. Again something pointed out to staff who said, oh dear... My grandson chose cookie dough for his sweet which, when he took a bite had bits of plastic in it. My daughter took it to the staff who found more pieces in the dough!! The result...we'll take the price of the sweet off your bill. Atmosphere nice but do not recommend the place, sorry!!

Had a lovely family meal here whilst visiting Scotland. Enjoyed the food until my grandson discovered pieces of plastic in his cookie dough. We told the staff who examined the portion and found more pieces. They are to speak to the supplier.

We were recommended by our b&b staying on the way to the Highlands for a holiday. I had forewarned them about my allergies but the smallish tapas menu looked to have many gluten free options. Tapas is my favourite food and a Scottish version is so interesting. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and furnished with the most amazingly comfortable huge chairs. The food was divine - everything was wonderful and really good value for the quality. The dishes are different and interesting. We tried 3 different glasses of red wine and they were all excellent - something you sadly don’t find often in restaurants. If I had been staying for another night I would have come back and eaten exactly the same dishes! We will definitely stay in this town again if coming to Scotland just to visit Hugo’s.

We always stop here on our journey to (& returning from) Edinburgh, it's a 'half-way stop' for us. We love it! The food is always fresh & delicious, lovely ambience & decor, very nice & helpful staff, spotlessly clean & very good menu choices, with something to suit all tastes & dietary needs. On our way to Dumfries and popped into Hugos for a breakfast 😋 roll and sausage and lemon drizzle cake along with tea and coffee. Lovely window seat in the sun . Staff are so friendly and next time in Moffat we will definitely return. Love the decor too. Thank you .

I have written a full review about the wonderful service and food at Hugo’s before . This time I am writing on behalf of my two dogs Pudsey & Miss Sooty . Today I have visited Hugo’s twice . Once this morning for a coffee after a dog walk and then again this evening after their late afternoon walk for a cool refreshing pint of beer . At this moment in time we have been blessed with a mini heatwave with temperatures in the low to mid 20s. On both visits one the bar staffs main priority was to ensure in this heat that the dogs had a plentiful supply of cool water . I , unfortunately didn’t get the two young lads names that were on duty. ( one has dark short curly hair the other wears glasses) Despite not know their names they are a complete asset to the establishment. So polite, caring and forward thinking in their approach to customer ( and doggie) On both visits the customer service was outstanding

We were on a long weekend in Moffat & fortunately for us ended up staying right next door to Hugos. The food was so good we had a lunch, dinner & breakfast there! The staff were great, so accommodating & great sense of humour 😉.. we did have to wait a whole for the food, but we were a large party, 13!, and everything tasted like it was cooked fresh. Delicious 😋. Wouldn't hesitate to go back, highly recommended.

Real classy place inside. We had coffee and scones outside in the sun and the scone was one of the best I've ever had, just the right texture crumbly but not too crumbly. The coffee was good too and the service was very good

Enjoyed 2 evening meals here whilst staying in Moffat. Nice decor and friendly staff. Great selection of cocktails....highly recommended the Old Fashioned no soda!
