Smiths Arms in Swansea

Booked table for 2 here for Sunday Carvery. Staff were absolutely awesome! So friendly. However........... Ordered a house red and lager. Red was bitter, tasted cheap, and like it had been opened for days. Lager was flat and tasted awful. We had the beef, which tasted like stewed beef as opposed to roasted. The veg was horrendous. Potatoes, carrots, and peas are all kept in a vat of warm(ish) water, which you have to scoop out and try and drain. Had to wait for about 10 minutes after getting our carvery for the mash to be brought to the table. Stuffing balls were tasteless. Best part was the gravy and Yorkshire pudding! So disappointing because we had heard rave reviews about the carvery here. "Just like your grandmother used to make," it is not!! £9.95 each. Guess you get what you pay for. In future, I'd rather pay the extra and go somewhere like The Buck in Pontlliw or The Bird in Hand in Forest.

Great food with good menu choices and friendly service. Only downside is they don't do real ales.

Great local Swansea pub! Nice garden out the back for when the sun does eventually come out.

Always have good food staff are friendly. Wife always has steak, but ever other dish are spot on too

never had a problem with the smiths until i applied for a job here. I then called them 4 times, and 4 time they said they will call back tomorrow. Then, on the 5th time calling them for the last week, they’d told me that they’ve already hired someone. I love the food and atmosphere here, but that, unfortunately, is completely time wasting and rude so i won’t be looking for a job here again.

Fabulous food here, something for everyone. 2 meals for £15 - a great affordable price with generous portions. Staff are friendly at this faimly run business & helpful with any queries. Will definitely return.

Food was amazing proper home cooked no fancy like you get in some restaurants visited where the food hasn't been cooked properly. The food at the smiths arms reminds me on how my grandparents cooked a roast dinner.

My mum booked this for Easter dinner,as shes been coming here of late and wanted a break from cooking a big family dinner.We dont tend to eat sunday dinner out much but when we have it's been down the gower,nice but it's been a bit arty farty.Today has been a pleasure to has a good old fashioned dinner like nanna used to cook.Calvary , plate piled high and lush.staff were friendly. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Ordered food hour and half later still no food I was part of a group booking everyone was having deserts and I still hadn’t received my food so cancelled it in the end no apology nothing not great service last night !

Great pub in the heart of the Hafod, which is about 10 minutes away from the city center. I went on a Sunday with family for lunch at 3om, and it was busy. Lunch was a small carvery option for 9.95 which had all the basics, although I was a little disappointed that they had run out of swede and they hadn't replaced it as the carvery was closing in 25 minutes. The food itself was lovely and the vegetables weren't overcooked, which is a common problem. If I'm in the area I will definitely return for Sunday lunch, however I may try to arrive earlier when there is plenty of vegetables available.

Lovely food and very reasonable too

We only been there for Sunday lunch. Was disappointing as they had run out of beef and they had cooked chicken portions which were small and tried to slice them so you had a half of a small chicken portion. The food was tasty but only luke warm.

Good community pub. Popular choice for Swansea City supporters pre-match as there are a few local matchday parking places. Decent selection of beers at a reasonable price. Good sized car park on site.

Just called in Tuesday lunchtime 😋. Me husband and grandson. Lovely welcome. Order food my grandson came first which was great he was starving 😋 he really enjoyed his food. Ours followed it was lovely and hot I had steak sirloin it was cooked to my request 😋. My hubby had a steak banquette again cooked to request. Presentation of food 😋 was excellent. Really enjoyed good price 👍. Really recommended.

Excellent food in the restaurant/lounge, great place to watch sport in the bar. Recently turned up twice on the spur of the moment for food, only to find the pub closed. Pub needs to update their opening hours on their website. I turned up on a Monday only to be told they don't open on a Monday even though the page says 11am - 11pm. I also turned up on a Tuesday at 11:30am only to be told they open at 12:00. Please owner update your opening times. Also there's a sign outside that says happy hour 4pm - 7pm. I was there during this period and was charged full price for a pint of Worthingtons and not £2.50

Haven't been for meal meal here in a while, so just had sharer platter for starters with my wife and one of my son's BRILLLIANT. Main courses of steak and ale pie with jkt, sirloin and King prawns and a Hunters steak, again and again great food at The Smiths.

Food is lovely, very reasonable, book in advance though. Staff are very friendly, it's looks lovely with its Christmas 🎄

We came here for our friend's 27th birthday meal and what can I say was outstanding we had the sharring platters but tbh the food was so nice non of us wanted to share it was hot and fresh I would highly recommend for food and can't wait to go bk xx

So I had my first carvery at the Smiths today, I was looking forward to it after having a lovely meal there previously. How disappointed am I? The food was cold and oily and there was no selection of vegetables. Then I was still eating my food but others of my group were finished the waitress came over and cleared the table meaning I had to leave most of my food, no etiquette. My group was disappointed with the whole experience. If I could have score zero stars I would have. Awful!

Has to be the worst carvery I have ever had. Lovely place in the week days but unfortunately carverys are not there thing. the service was shocking. My sister was still eating her food and the waitress started clearing are table. You can't have mash and boild potatoes one or the other considering there was only 3 choices of veg you think you could have what you wanted. nothing was hot.

Lovely steak, proper chips and those little sweet garden peas.

Phoned last minute for Sunday carvery on Easter Sunday and staff were great and accommodating. Gravy was lovely, good portions of meat, proper roasties and overall a pleasant experience. Would definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

Good pub grub 14 people in our party this evening well worth it. Pre order before hand. Very welcoming good price on drinks.

I understand we are in difficult circumstances but customer service says alot. Food was lovely but service was poor. Booked for a time to have food because they said they were busy, when arrived there 2-3 tables was occupied. Asked the bar lady for our table prior to ringing just to be pointed with a bit of attitude to our table at the back, bar lady wasnt really friendly at all. Sat at the table which was pretty dark set had a few light bulbs missing and slightly difficult to see even though there were empty tables around. Knew what we wanted to order but didn't know if someone came to the table or we had to order at the bar no help there at all. Seen another person go to the bar so followed in suit, put an order in for a party of four all meals, when asking for drink I asked for 2 cokes and 2 waters, when asked for 2 waters the sigh of the bar lady could be seen from everyone. Least to say she put us off this place wont be coming back to say the least.
