Recently changed its name to 'Effies' but happily the food hasn't changed swell and is fantastic. EVERYTHING is made on the premises, the Cullen Skink is superb and the selection of fresh food from breakfasts to steak pie etc is very good. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Perth, definitely one of my favourite places.

This place is a wee gem hidden in Perth's City Centre. Food is freshly made and is fantastic, the staff are friendly and helpful and the décor and use of old china just adds to the touch. Whether you are in for a coffee, lunch or high tea you won't be disappointed

A great evening. Beautifully prepared and served meal. The colours and positioning of the vegetable selection, the carefully cooked food, the wide choice of menu, the attentive service, the cosy ambience. What a lovely evening. I would recommend highly to anyone interested in giving it a try.

My wife and I visited Dunkeld and Birnam after attending a wedding in the area and, after hearing about a bookshop in Birnam, wanted to make sure we visited before heading home. What a fantastic bookshop! We spent ages browing through the superb collection of books - both of us taken with the large range of art and photography books. Even though they were all second hand, the condition was immaculate. The prices for books that essentially looked new was another bonus, being far less than I initially thought. Needless to say we both left very happy with a stack of books between us. Icing on the cake was a coffee to take away (talking of cake, there was cake as well, but sadly after filling ourselves up with our hotel breakfast we couldn't bring ourselves to try any). Service was faultless as well and very pleasant. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Beautifully presented hotel and restaurant. This was our first visit to Cairn Lodge for a family dinner. We were unfortunately disappointed by the standard of food, particularly the ribeye steaks. Fillet steaks looked amazing, however the ribeyes appeared to be sourced from a different supplier, lacking flavour and being overcooked. It would have been appreciated if someone had inquired about our main course, as we would have shared our thoughts. I sensed that the staff may have been hesitant to engage with us after serving the steaks, likely due to their awareness of the quality issues.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Delicious food lovely location. Great atmosphere and very attentive staff. We had allergy sufferer and also vegetarian in our party and they were very well catered for. We were a large party of 5 but food courses were perfectly timed and cooked to each person’s specification. Firm favourite with us.
