Slug & Lettuce in Woking

I went to bottomless brunch with a few friendsThe venue wasn’t particular busyYet it took us 30 mins to get a refill on our Prosecco That’s a quarter of the time without a drink at a bottomless brunch!We went up to the bar 3 separate times to ask if we can get another bottle but the service was so slow we wasted so much timeNever again.

Called today to ask a question about my visit later today was told will get a call back in 10 minutes NO CALL BACK I call this poor customer service and down to poor training of staff.

We went for lunch on a Tuesday and had a delightful time. The staff is incredibly nice, quick and helpful - especially Joe. We ordered the vegan feast and it was amazing! Vegan mac and cheese, jackfruit sliders, vegan nachos, hummus and more. Everything was so good and filling for two people. They had 2 for 1 cocktails so we drank a few (excellent old fashion by the way). We will for sure be coming back!

This is the most cleanest and Covid careful bar that I have recently visited. The staff are so organised and brilliant that I didn’t feel at risk in anyway. Food was great, quick and hot, the bar has a lovely atmosphere. Every consideration had been thoughtfully taken for both customer and staff. Well done GM and Team, the Slug and Lettuce Woking is a pleasure to visit.

To be fair it was what I was expecting food wise, we were staying at a hotel nearby and noticed it so stopped for a bite to eat and drink, staff were friendly enough and the food was nice enough! it is only pub food so cannot complain if you want 5 star then go to a five star!

Matt was very attentive to us. We came for bottomless brunch and he was lovely. Would recommend!!! The drinks were delicious and the food was good.

We visited on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks. We had the S & L Sharer, which was amazing value and variety. The food arrived quickly and was well presented, delicious and hot. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Our only downer for the evening, was witnessing a drug deal between a member of bar staff and a customer.

I ordered a plain burger. I specified that I did not want sauce. When my food was served, it appeared plain. But, I always check under the bun, just to be safe. They had quite clearly put some sauce on, then realized it was supposed to be plain. So instead of making a new one, they scraped it off, put the bun on, and hoped I wouldn’t notice. They didn’t even do a great job scraping it off. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but there was still a saturated puddle on top of the bacon. I was really upset by this, as it makes me question other practices in their kitten.The next thing I didn’t love about this place, which is more of a preference thing I guess, is that they don’t melt the cheese, at all, on the nachos they serve. They literally just sprinkle cheese on the chips and then put the other toppings on top. Is this something that is normal at all? Ok, now to the good things. Our other foods were tasty. We mostly enjoyed the appetizers and desserts. The churros were especially good. The drinks at the bar were well made. The staff was nice. The music was fun, and loud. The facility was clean.

It was a packed LGBT 🏳️‍🌈 day & this Gastro Pub was a class of its own on the night very Colourful very entertaining very friendly and the crowd makes the whole experience unforgettable in the nicest possible way

I hired an area for 60 people and I put money behind the bar for drinks and ordered buffet food. I honestly couldn't falt a single thing! the staff were incredible! despite the bar being very busy, they kept their cool and acted professionally yet managed to be down to earth and very friendly. The food was promptly brought out at the agreed time and was happily devoured in minutes. The food was hot and very tasty and went down a treat. The following day, everyone commented on what an amazing night it was and how well the pub did! I would without doubt hold another event at the Slug & Lettuce in Woking.

Well situated in the middle of Woking just off the high street. Bright open spaces with plenty tables inside & outside. We were here on a Sat afternoon and there was a really good buzz about the place with plenty people enjoying there drinks. We were also able to get some nibbles which were pretty good. Friendly young staff.

I went to slug and lettuce for some drinks and always enjoy myself there! Would recommend going in if your after a good night out.

Busy place and this was early. Had a lovely mocktail or two and they were delicious. Lots of choice of alcohol free drinks. Great atmosphere and superb music. Dont know that I would have like to be there when the crowd came in but enjoyed our mini visit.

My first interaction with the team was when we came to the bar a few hours prior to our booking because we had had a scare with a bit allergy in the first venue of the hen do. We saw Mark (who I believe was the manager) and he reassured us straight away. We were coming for my friends hen do and had planned a cocktail making master class and 2 course meal (my mum and I shared our starter and pudding). He also remembered that someone would need non-alcoholic, which was me! As I’m 8 months pregnant. It wasn’t too much trouble for him. Actually nothing was too much in the evening! He made the class fun and relaxed. How he put up with a group of tipsy excited women I’ll never know!!! He was an amazing manager, he wouldn’t leave his team when it turned out they would be short for the evening. The food I really enjoyed and so did the rest of the girls! Best breaded mushrooms I’ve had in a while and never had some much scampi on a plate! Such good value for money. Only slight disappointment was the loos, they need a little tlc as a few locks were broken. Would recommend to anyone who wants a fab evening out with friends and good value and brilliant service!

My boyfriend and I took my sister here to help her celebrate her 21st birthday with some cocktails. We knew her favourite cocktail was a pornstar martini so we were able to request a porn star tree which is where you get 9 pornstar martinis placed on a tree for cheaper than if you ordered them separately. The drinks were great and the service was just as good - shout out to Simon and Larry for serving us and sorting it all out with no trouble.

Look at the first word of the bars name to describe the speed of their bar staff (And most of their brain functions). Pretty sure their DJ 's IQ is so low he couldn't spell DJ!

Went in there last night with friends in the evening, around 11 we got told by a young lad that last orders are being called which I thought was earlier than normal.

Enjoyed my time there a couple weeks ago with great food and drinks! Plus the staff gave us some great advice about the local area!

Been here several times now and it just keeps getting better! The service was great and the food fantastic.

On Monday night we had a cocktail making class with Simon. It was awesome! The class itself was fun and interactive. All the staff we encountered were friendly and very accommodating. The class was £25 with buffet food after and there was sooooo much food we couldn’t eat it all. We all came away buzzing! Thanks for a great experience and I know the Hen really enjoyed herself.

Just came in for some evening drinks and cocktails. Prices are ok and there are always offers on. Staff are very good and calm. Pub is clean. Very enjoyable evening.

Karl, Stacey, Steven, Imran and all their colleagues were very welcoming, nice and genuine from my visits.

Went to the place with some friends and it was a nice evening. The food tastes great and the drinks were amazing. Had quite a good time and a nice evening.

Popped in for a drink on a recent business trip with a colleague on a Tuesday evening around 7 pm, the place was moderately busy with two staff on the bar but one was also waiting on as food was ready. Stood for 10 minutes waiting to be served and although our presence was acknowledged by the staff one was serving a large drink order the other apologised and said he had a food run to do, he delivered the food then cleared tables so after another 10 mins we left. Appreciate they were busy but 20minutes is to long to wait for a .

My burger with cheese, bacon and chips and my daughters chicken, cheese, bacon and bbq ciabatta and chips was delicious. Very friendly staff, great food and 2 for 1 cocktails. Perfect Friday afternoon. Will be visiting again soon.

At six o’clock on a Friday evening I entered a half full Slug & Lettuce with my 20 year old daughter and 18 year old son.

Came here for dinner, great food, delicious drinks and really friendly staff! Would definitely recommend!

We had the pleasure of lunch at this trendy bar in the heart of Woking, the staff were friendly and engaging. The cocktails were lovely. To eat we had Nachos to share, I then had a gourmet burger that was delicious. My wife had chicken wraps, there were no complaints only clean plates.

Came to eat with my family, we needed one Highchair. We were told that the pub only had two of them and that they were both in use. We were very unimpressed because it's a large place with a lot of tables but yet only two highchairs.

Our Saturday evening out at The Slug & Lettuce was spoilt by witnessing the boorish and heavy handed treatment by two “Bouncers” who were turning away some men from the bar who had ordered some drinks and were waiting for them.

Just went here for a drink with friends. Very spacious and plenty of seating, a good selection of draught beers/lagers. Friendly service and reasonably priced. Will return....

Sunday afternoon before going to the theatre we decided to eat here, we ordered and after 30 mins I enquired about our food, to be told, there isn't any food on order, after showing the receipt the gentleman said, ow I will check the food lift.... and there it was, The fishcakes and salad was tasty, as was my daughter's pasta, Staff gave us the impression they didn't really want to be at work, as the other customers ate and left.......... it was at least 25 mins before anyone moved from behind the bar to clear tables.......... shame about the staff. The toilets were clean and nice to use

Walk in, sit down and look at the menu. Other people are eating meals. Then told the kitchen is suddenly closed. At 4:20pm. Somewhere else benefited from our money. Zero customer service. 👎

Only went for a drink and was ok. No real atmosphere and not many lagers to choose from. Was also very quiet for a Saturday night.

This is very modern restaurant and the clientele when we were there in the early evening were mainly young which created a nice atmosphere

My friend and I have visited this pub before. Once,and once alone...........until today when due to unforseen circumstances we reluctantly returned. So pleased that we did. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and the snacks and desserts were amazing. All the staff deserve great praise and this will be our first port of call in the future. Well done to all Jason was really helpful could not fault his service

We had various dishes for sharing. All very tasty and well prepared. We liked the nice and spacious room and the good service.

Have had a pretty poor late meal and been joined by family one of whom is 10yrs old, and just been advised after ordering drinks that we have ten minutes to finish our drinks as children are not permitted after six. Please note this place is currently empty we are the only people here. Hey families don't bother

Its a nice place to hang out with friends, have some drinks and enjoy some tasty snacks/food.

Had a very nice lunch here with family. The service was excellent and the food was good. Great value for money and the choice was very good. We didn't have to wait long and we all enjoyed our experience there. Would visit this venue again.

Visited the bar for some drinks with friends we ordered cocktails and beers the cocktails were made with no love or theatre and the bar staff seemed very uninterested throughout the evening we continued to order the same cocktail yet Every time they were made differently I get that it was quite busy but where are the standards.

Love the new vibe of this place! Great food menu and reasonably priced! Some of the staff need to put a bit more of a smile on their faces other than that it's brill for lunch or dinner or even just cocktails!!

Well, family brunch at the S&L; Woking, good service polite and friendly.. BUT the food was awful!! COLD... OVERCOOKED!! Inedible... Be warned stay away!

After our last visit to the Guildford area to visit our son at uni and a poor Harvester experience, we headed off to nearby Woking as according to trip advisor, The Herbert Wells was a good establishment for a lunch. On the way to the Herbert Walker, we passed the Slug and Lettuce but having already read the review for the HW, we carried on. However as we went round the corner, in the distance we saw a few people standing outside the HW smoking. Far busier than the S & L. On entering the HW though, it felt unwelcoming for some reason, with no free table for 4... we headed back out to the Slug and Lettuce. On entering the almost empty venue ( just a table of 4 ladies having lunch), we were greeted by Jason the barman who was very welcoming. We chose a table, studied the menus and ordered drinks and food with Jason. We took our drinks back to our table where we sat and chatted whilst we waited for the food to arrive. The food arrived nice and quick, which was piping hot. The food was not only hot, but was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Having just read other reviews for this venue, we all felt very strongly that we should post ours, as this venue was far superior and welcoming to either the Harvester in Puttenham or the HW around the corner. The gents toilets were very clean, hot water and dryers all working. However, the ladies said that a couple of their toilets had loo paper in them and one of the dryers didn't work. The cubicles that were usable were of a good standard. This is the only reason, why we haven't scored this venue a full 5 stars. On leaving the venue, it was now filling up and I hope that the new management that are in place continue to make this place a success, as after our visit, we headed into the town and enjoyed the local shopping facilities. See you on our return to visiting our son at Uni....

The staff unfortunately are not welcoming at all the chef which I was disgusted about happen to be standing out front smoking in his chef whites the girl behind the bar looks personally like she needs a wash. The other girl behind the bar seems to come across very up her self and doesn't seem to smile. This is very disappointing as personally I have been in this venue before and received excellent service before. Just a shame to see it go down hill. It was personally a put off when hearing the girl moan so much about her life we just left and refused to eat here again

It's a pleasant, spacious place. We had burgers and they were good. The menu is quite extensive. The staff are very friendly. The only criticism I have is that they have no hand-pulled ales, although the Punk IPA was not bad.

Empty pub, takes 10 minutes to get served. Staff must be on a come down on something.(or chatting) Not to slug and lettuce standard!!

Friends and I came here for dinner before going out. The interior is so nice and very modern and the food was really good.

Visited hear for Breakfast on a saturday morning with my wife, two daughters and 3 of our grandchildren. We chose a large table and then went to order. That's where everything started to go wrong. The woman taking the order didn't really know what she was doing. When she finally managed to take the order, we asked what drinks were available for the children and she didn't really have a clue. She eventually remembered that there might be some bottles of flavoured water somewhere!!! After paying, we sat down and waited. The three cups of tea were brought out but were only half full.Even when the milk was added the cups were still not full. We had to request some sugar as they didn't bring any. They eventually found some bottled water for the kiddies. After another wait, the food started to arrive but still no sugar. Three of the four breakfasts arrived with two,half slices of dry toast plonked on top. Two separate portions of toast, both dry, also arrived. We requested some butter for the toast. The sugar arrived but it was only brown sugar because they didn't have white in stock!!! The butter eventually arrived but wasn't enough for the amount of toast that we had. When asked about when we could expect the fourth breakfast to arrive, we were told that we had only ordered three. Clearly the woman had hearing problems as we ordered four,and she even read the order back to us. She begrudgingly said she would order another one. All of us,except one, had finished eating and were getting ready to leave when the last breakfast turned up, without any butter for the toast. Our first ( and last) visit was a disaster from start to finish. Why on earth were two girls who, by their own admission, were quite new, left in charge without a senior member of staff to oversee them?? We certainly won't be going back there again.

I have never gave such a low score, but I must say my experience from today's visit in Slug and Lettuce in Woking was disappointing.

Thought I would try the newly opened venue for a pint of Tripple Dog on tap, sit outside and watch the world go by, reading a paper and vaping which was a great place to chill.

Quiet Monday evening but more staff needed. Eventually we were asked for our ordered but he wasn't trained for cocktail making so waited again. Eventually sat down with 2 porn star martinis..... Very nice and a 241 offer made them even better

Went here for dinner with the other half. Went to order, and the 3 things I had decided on, they weren't doing any more as they had a new menu coming out so had run out of the things I chose (not sure why it couldn't be crossed off the menu).

My Wife and I visited some friends who met us in the Slug and Lettuce, we were initially really pleased with the service and the prices that we paid were excellent.

First time we've been since it was formerly Yates. First impressions good nice decor and a warm welcome too boot. The food was of a very high quality the menu was good. We had the sandwiches at lunchtime and they did not skimp on the fillings. Good selection of drinks at good prices we will return

Wanted a quick lunch for 4. Place was empty only 3 other tables that I could see but still took 50 mins for our food to arrive.

Got here at about 21.00pm on Saturday 20th August. Busy but not over crowded. Found a table for the 4 of us straight away. Stuck with 241 cocktails all night. The Mojito's went down a treat.

I've visited a few Slugs in this country, and no matter which one you're in, if you go after 6pm you're waiting 10-15 minutes for a drink if not longer.

We had plans to go to the theatre so we asked how long we would have to wait for food. We were assured our food would be out at 7:15 (we ordered at before 6:50, standard burgers etc) but they had to serve a party buffet they were already cooking before getting to us. We chased them at 7:25 and were told it would be with us as soon as possible. At 7:35 when we had given up they brought over cutlery but we asked for a refund as by the time we would get food we would have had to wolf it down and the very pregnant member of our group would have felt ill rushing so we went to the theatre hungry. The lady who took our order did a good job apologising and seemed to have been let down by the kitchen, but since we've chased for the free meal so we would come back that she offered the management have not responded.

Good range of beers, small outside seating, clean, staff nice enough, only been here during the day, but always good

As Gluten Intolerant it's often really hard to find good choice of food - it's surprising how meals include gluten in one or other form. Great that there was a lot of choice to choose from.

I went with a friend for some dinner and was disgusted to find plates and glasses everywhere for the whole night, no food menus to be found, no sauces to be found, i ordered a small portion of fries and ended up with a large portion of sweet potato fries, food took forever when it wasn't very busy and finally our plates never got cleared!!!

The place is really nice inside and quite busy. The music is a bit too loud for us but I can see it's set up for a younger crowd. Cocktails very nice and carefully made.

Chain restaurant with chain restaurant food. Not bad - just not great. And the clientele changes dramatically later in the evening - noisy, crowded, and generally unpleasant. Takes too long to get a drink at the bar, and the bar tenders pay no atttention to who has queued.

Terrible service, me and a friend had been waiting a good 15 minutes before getting served with at least 5 people waiting in the queue, Carl clearly noticed us and decided to ignore us, good job.

Takes so long to make the cocktails that some of our party had finished theirs before others had even got theirs!

I do like to leave a positive review if I can as I am normally in the glass half full camp. For the people who recognise this pub chain the modern and comfortable surroundings belied the fact that this just wasn't good.

Building is fresh and inviting during early evening. Order at the bar. It's fast food I suspect comes in on the back of a Waggon but none the worse for that. The beef pie was ok and service was good. Prices were not out of the way. Why do staff insist of addressing customers as Guys? I must be getting old but at least the food was served on plates and not wooden boards or slates...... I am defiantly getting Old!

5 of us visited the pub for their opening night. We had a variety of dishes: steak pie, mexican pasta shells, burger, sausage and mash and thai chicken noodles. All were tasty, beautifully cooked and with a good amount of veg/salad freshly prepared and perfectly cooked. Portion sizes were just right too. We cannot rate the chefs highly enough - head and shoulders better than other similar chains. The welcome and bar staff were all friendly and hospitable.
