UPDATE. Don't order the macaroni, there's no cheese in it. Very noisy. We'd booked a table for dinner but didn't realise the was music bingo on on a Sunday night. DJ very loud. Other than that had a nice night and meal.

Good was good, there was no room inside so we sat outside on their cool little patio area, unfortunately that made service non-existent. The atmosphere was neat though as it’s tucked in a little alley off the main strip.

A busy city centre pub, Sloan's is one of Glasgow's oldest bars, the interior on all the floors is dark wood and tiles, with lots of preserved period details. The range of beers available is always good and changes regularly when it comes to local ales. There is a large outdoor drinking area( for a city centre pub) that has infra red heating in areas. Well worth a visit, but it's fairly noisy on the weekends.

Great food in a lovely pub. Found some of the staff a bit less than pleasant for a Saturday afternoon, found they had a bit of attitude about getting us to pay and leave even before the time of our booking was up.

Went in for a drink (beak from shopping 🙂) Went back later in the evening for a meal, having seen the food served at lunchtime. It didn't disappoint. They managed to get us a table, although we hadn't booked on a busy Saturday night. Service was quick, friendly, but unatrosive. Definitely be back when in Glasgow.

Acting on the advice of an excellent local tour guide, we found Sloan's (and its near-invisible entranceway) and its young and attractive patrons. Music and conversation are at higher volumes, but the outer courtyard and inner floors have so many nooks that a quieter spot could always be found. Excellent ale and whisky selection along with all those funky colored vodkas that the youngsters enjoy. Reasonable prices. Nice staff. Never made to feel out of place even if we were among the oldest (60s) in the establishment.

I really like the atmosphere in Sloans, known as one of the oldest (if not the oldest) pubs and restaurants in Glasgow. The events are great, really good entertainment and well organised, although the food can be a bit hit and miss. The comedy acts on a Sunday at the ballroom were great!

Went for lunch to try the award winning mac and have some drinks. The mac was greasy and lacked sauce. Symptomatic of pre cooked mac and cheese where the pasta soaks up the sauce. The beef chilli was OK. Drinks were fairly expensive but the service!!!!! No one asked if we wanted any drinks after the first one. No one asked if we wanted desert. We did BTW. After sitting with dry glasses even getting the bill was hard work. Plenty staff but all in a world of their own. Wouldn't return.

Visited as part of a wedding event & was supremely impressed by both the clear quality of training & the attention given by the team, from excellent product knowledge and good advice on drinks to just the friendly attitude. The site is decorated well with appropriate bric a brac for the theme & there's clear respect and reverence for the history of the site, something I love to see! I'd love to return when next up in Glasgow, fantastic service and place to visit! Only slight complaint (and I mean slight) was I personally wasn't a fan of the Mac and cheese which the site is famous for, your milage may vary however as this was likely due to the buffet style service meaning it was slightly colder than ideal, not much the actual team can do their to be honest & I'm sure if I asked they'd have warmed it back up for me! just want to get a full picture across! Loved it, will be back!

Just been in, have been in a few times but after today never again . Service crap, only take cards. More interested in the locals, if you look well to do then you get loads of attention . We had our coats on because it was freezing in there . Both had fish and chips, no taste at all and mine full of bones, also on the cold side . We were going to order bread as well but had the menu whisked away before we could When brought to waitress attention said sorry but could tell she wasn’t particularly bothered . Sorry but there are nicer pubs with better food and the staff are a lot more pleasant in Glasgow . We ll not go back , gone downhill rather spend our money elsewhere

Really enjoyed the food and drinks, good price for what we got and I enjoyed having my birthday dinner there! The only thing I would say is one of the staff came across a little rude during the end of our booking time, shouting across the room that our table was needed at 7, which we knew and left 10 minutes beforehand, and when getting the bill, because we were going to split it between a couple people, rolled his eyes at my guest and walked away while telling us "our server would need to come and do it because he's got too many tables to seat to deal with this" Which I get but at the same time we asked our server for the bill and this man came over instead. I understand it was busy and that was really the only thing that made me think twice about the experience. Our server and the other women that came over throughout the 2 hours were really nice and made us feel so welcome!

Sloans, reputedly Glasgow's oldest pub, offers a charming atmosphere steeped in history. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal or a drink with friends. We had a voucher for the mac and cheese, and it certainly did not disappoint. Creamy and rich, it was a comfort food classic, perfectly baked with a golden crust on top, parmigiana and basil. The portion size was generous, making it a satisfying choice. It also includes fries with a variety of toppings. Crispy bacon, sundried tomatoes, a variety of cheeses and many more To accompany my meal, I chose a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. It was crisp and refreshing, complementing the richness of the mac and cheese nicely. Overall, my experience at Sloans was delightful. The combination of delicious food, a good selection of drinks, and the pub's historical charm make it a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy classic comfort food and a nice wine, Sloans is definitely worth checking out!

Charged 10% tip automatically on the bill. Fly they don’t give you a receipt only noticed because my bill came to a random uneven number then noticed I was charged 10% disgusting and devious. I will decide if the service was good enough for a tip thank you. We waited 30 mins for someone to take our order, a milk like substance was on the surface of my chair which I cleaned. I also had to go and get menus after 15 mins of waiting. I would have not tipped at the end of this experience but apparently that’s irrelevant. WILL NOT HE BACK

The place is very nice and different, a very cool terrace with graffiti. But the food is very weak, they sell macaroni and cheese as the great historical dish and the truth is that it does not kill, with 2 spoons you are already full of cheese. Beer very good, they have several taps and I liked the IPA I tasted. Service took quite a while to serve the food, we had to go to the bar to order and the table was dirty, and it took a long time (we were almost there) to remove the bottles from the previous table. Quite underwhelming, although it is comfortable on the terrace and at ease.

Fortunately, the sun is shining and you can sit outside, which is a pleasant place. The food is not very interesting. The ciabattas are not properly baked and the toppings are minimal. In addition, you have to go to the bar yourself to get a menu, then walk to the bar yourself to order. When you receive your food, there is no cutlery and when you ask for it you have to go inside to get it yourself. The tip is already included when you pay. I prefer to determine the tip myself and am more than willing to give it if the customer is also well taken care of, but that is minimal. A great place for a drink, especially outside on the terrace!

When be brought this up the same staff member offered to "heat them up". Really? Rushed also as the kitchen was closing. In that case, close taking food order in enough time for the kitchen to finish orders for the patrons already seated. All in all a poor experience. I had taken my visitors from Toronto here and let's say they were far from impressed. Even asking for a glass of water was met with a grunt. The waitress was lovely (sorry I didn't catch her name). One of our group was on mocktails and the bar lassie was really nice/knowledgeable chatting to see what would be a good mocktail to make so my pal actually liked it (and she did and said it was as nice as the real thing). Bar stools aren't comfy so we did only stay for the one but plan to go back and try food next time. Last time I was there was for a book event but absolutely will go back and see how it is for a meal. Also real candles on the tables which is a nice touch. Poorly organised event and seating, not remotely all you can eat, heavily portion controlled food, ran out anyway, long waiting times for more(brought out extra once, half the amount that started with) cause they barely made any for 100+ people there. I visit Sloan's for the live drawing sessions on Mondays, and it is one of my favourite new hobbies I've picked up in Glasgow. The space upstairs where it takes place has an elegant atmosphere, with the dark wood furniture and the chandeliers. The staff are always respectful, materials like pen and paper are usually offered, and they have a student discount. There are always two rooms to choose from, with two different models, the first starts with 2min poses and then goes up to 5min, 10min etc, and the second starts with 15min poses and goes up from there, so you can choose whichever fits your art style or mood every time.
