Great pub. Great drinks atmosphere and staff

Good service but the beer was awful, ended up drinking from a bottle after two different beers tasted off. They need to look after beer and the equipment better here.

Went in for lunch as looked online and the menu looked nice,only to get there around 12.20ish to be told we can only have a sandwich,with no menus on tables etc,why advertise a nice looking menu if we can only have a sandwich,we ended up leaving and going down the road to abington park house where we had a lovely meal.

Nice way to dodge a rain 🌧 storm on a very hot 🔥 Monday afternoon. Very quiet in the Phipps.

Goof place for a bar crawl, never enough seating though

Went for a football match, not laid out very well , got a table reserved but it wasn't in front of a TV really more under one. Service was good and bar staff were quick and friendly.

Didn't really rate this pub, no decent ale, not that busy either on a Saturday night.

A wonderful friendly pub.lovely decor ..I love a private atmosphere. Yes it's dark....its meant to be.! Go sit at the window if you want a spot light on your soul! ( or eat) Half price meals Mon to Fri. Really friendly staff. I will be back ! ( don't expect a landscaped garden ...its in town centre .why rd..no room!)

This is an example of the "English Pub". Very cosy place. You can watch here sports on multiple tv screens.

Expensive compared to other pubs locally. 80p dearer for the same drink plus no limes. Was asked if we wanted lime cordial in a Desperado? Seriously? Ok if you want to watch football but other than that, not impressed.

Been okay when we’ve been in before but we went to go in last night, was suppose to be our first pup on our crawl and the bouncer turned 4 of us away because one of us grabbed their ID back too firmly…. Yes 4 girls not even had a drink yet and that was the excuse. I’m guessing the pub won’t care as bouncers do what they want but he needs to get down off his high horse. Ruined the start of our night and made that girl feel like rubbish. Would love to hear a response from Sir Pickering Phipps.

I had the classic lasagna and it was great! Very professional customer service. It may cost a bit but you definitely know where that extra money went.

For a busy town pub it is welcoming. I think there is a new manager and it has helped improve the pub

Only had a drink so cannot comment on anything else. Will eat next time I visit.

Visited on a Friday night with friends as they live nearby. DJ playing in one corner, everyone else other side of the pub trying to actually talk. Speakers around the pub meant no respite anywhere. Bar staff could not even understand why it had to be so loud. As a pub it was fine just don't go if you want to talk and still have hearing.

I visit the pickering phipps once a year for the last 15years catching up with old work mates. Always a good night. Great venue great service great atmosphere

Went in for a coffee with work friend to be greeted with Almost a tut clearly didn't want to make the coffee clearly needs some customer service training

Went to table to look at menu was some xmas lights cable not put up against wall so was laying across floor I fell on it ,got helped up by a customer and that night couldnt move got bruised ribs and cut knee leg hurts and bar staff never came to see if I was ok when manager come in only girl behind bar while taking money said u ok I should get that wire moved ,not even offered a bit of meal will be telling people to be careful in there I'm 74 years old and now today I'm in bed cant move as ribs killing me Mrs dot sarjantson

Great staff and great food. Food is currently half price Monday to Friday so you really can't go wrong. Cajun chicken baguette is my favourite!

We found this pub on Google when looking for somewhere open on a Sunday morning. The man that served us was so welcoming and really friendly. He had a chat with us when putting the menus out too, which was nice. The pub has a lovely, traditional pub interior. The drinks were reasonably priced. We will definitely return!

Hmm ... The Pickering Phipps is a long time institution. I visited with some mates on a Tuesday night. Poor experience. Very few people in (two others), and very small selection of beers.

Seems a busy vibrant pub, sports available on TV. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the bar may have been extra busy due to a concert in town. Nice place.

Drinks were a little bit pricey and the carpet round the ball is horrible and sticky. But the atmosphere was nice and chilled

The atmosphere is pleasant, the barmaids try hard, they work quickly, the selection of beer is good, but the music is deafening, it’s difficult to talk, otherwise if you get drunk, it’s a good place

Had a night out Saturday ,went into the crown and cushion and the round of drinks was £13.5 pence the same round in this pud was £20.30 and when asked why so much difference was told that was what it said on the till ,and pubs wonder why there shutting down . I will be ringing the management today to ask why

Friendly pub that shows sports, decent food at a reasonable price and a decent range of drinks including craft beer and normally 2 real ales on hand pumps.

I went in on a Saturday Night and there was a bit of a queue to get served but the staff are friendly and the DJ played great music and it's open til midnight
