Very disappointed after reading the previous reviews. Good service but a poor quality meal. Over cooked starter and lukewarm main course.

Was actually the worst food I’ve eaten. Service was terrible! 2 main dishes not eaten and informed they was no edible but still charged for them. Wouldn’t return here!

2nd visit. Food was good. Bring your own drinks which keep your costs down. Good service. Nice to visit a restaurant that has music pertaining to the cuisine. When we're next in the area we'll be visiting again.

Always a good meal with fab service.

I dined at Simla tonight and had an incredible experience. The food was outstanding, with each dish bursting with authentic Indian flavors. The service was impeccable, and Abdul, our server, really stood out. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Simla and commend Abdul for his exceptional service. I will definitely be returning soon.

Had a take away from here to try it. People we know rave about the place... Yeah, won't be bothering again. The sauce was bland and watery, the meat dry and tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated.

Unfortunately, chips were cold so was the prawns chicken was dry and over cooked.

Inside needs some tlc and food we had was bland, not the bold flavours you'd expect at an Indian.

We have eaten within the restaurant as well as having takeaways however the last experience was very disappointing in that the meals were bland watery and lacked any flavour. To their credit the meals were replaced however the damage has been done and shall not use again. My advice is take note of reviews

Had a takeaway from here.. really nice.. had the lamb kebab to start that was lovely. Rice was good and had the naga chilli chicken tikka! That was lovely too wasn't hot enough for me but I do like heat! 🌶️🌶️ partner had tandoori massalla macani that was delicious.. will order from here again for sure!

I have been a regular since Simla opened, I have never had a bad meal in that time, I am greeted like family when I go in, and it’s a place where you can relax and just enjoy yourself. I don’t usually recommend a single meal but the Chicken Chilli Khybari is well worth a punt!!

UTTERLY GORGEOUS! Wow. That is one of the best curries I've ever had. For full context I am someone who is mixed British and Punjabi Indian. I have had my share of Curry in my time. I've had good curries and bad curries. Some with good quality, some with bad, some with massive portions, some with not. Simla had ALL QUOTAS MET. The curry was delicious, the bread was well cooked, was warm and fresh, and they even throw in extra sauces, garnish, dips and chocolates that others would charge for. Unfortunately they lose one point as I was unable to ring them to ask what they would prefer the 10/10 review on, so I cannot comment on their service, but from the takeaway I had, this place gets the award for best curry house in Stratford-upon-Avon. Thank you so much guys!

Me and my other half stopped by while looking for somewhere new to eat. It’s safe to say that Simla did not disappoint and we shall be returning. The service was professional and fantastic. The staffs uniform makes the dining experience feel more formal. The curries were absolutely beautiful. We didn’t order any rice or naan but we instead decided to use the popadoms as a filler which paired up really well. The portion size was good and we had 2 full and happy bellies. We was also given an extra generous complimentary popadom bowl which we were very grateful to receive. Simla looks after their guests.

Came on recommendation, left unsatisfied. The food was bland, chicken was tough, garlic rice had the hard roots of the garlic in which I had to keep spitting out, starter portion sizes did not live up to the price charged, was watched all the way throughout my meal which made me uncomfortable as a female customer & the total for the meal was way above what the prices were on menu (extra £15), didn’t even ask for allergies. My friends starter had a mediocre 3 small chunks of lamb which we all laughed at as we thought it was taking the mick. A staff member was stood at the desk eating and watching loud TikTok videos infront of everyone, not something I’d expect if service charge was added without telling us if was added (assumed charge) I got a bad feeling on entering as it was empty and no take away orders were completed the whole 1hr 30mins but felt optimistic, will be sticking to my regular on the same road from now on. Would I eat here again? No.

4 of us Arrived to the store in the evening, was very quiet as there was 1 other table, was sat down by a gentleman who gave us the option to sit where we wanted, this gave me hope that it was a good visit, as this was our first time coming to this store on recommendation. The gentleman didn’t ask us if we had any allergies which is a major thing working for food and hygiene. After ordering our poppadoms and starters the dips that came out were tiny. The starter portions lacked and my friend ordered a drink which came in a small glass even though we asked for a large. Food wait wasn’t that long however when mains came out the food was disappointing. It was bland and lacked flavour. The chicken was tough and the lamb was chewy, I didn’t say anything because I was starving. We then was watched 24/7 by one of the waiters making us all feel uncomfortable, the gentleman who sat us was stood at the bar eating and watching videos on his phone that was quite loud, during the meal I went to go to the bathroom and saw through the door the ‘chef’ sat on the floor on the phone taking calls, and when the bathroom door opened it was one of the waiting staff who blew smoke out as he was leaving, so there are members of staff Vaping in the toilets. The bathroom floor was very wet as well. The drinks were quite flat but somewhat enjoyable. Overall not as good as other places around the area. I don’t think I will be coming back as the price per person is averaging about 30£ each. Just wish the food was a bit better as I had high expectations for this restaurant. The staff were very attentive I’ll give them that and food wait wasn’t long, it’s a shame.

Very bad experience after our loss. Went here for first time out after loss of our mother. Was happy with starters BUT!!!. Everything from then on went wrong. They took order of a starter for my sister who has crones wrong!. She only ever orders a starter due to being only able to eat small portions. Had to almost fight to get this rectified at time. Also the prawn tikka was served as hard prawns in shells inedible and on trying to explain was met with prawns should be this way???? Knowing it is not as have lived on the coast but we were treated like stupid ppl and a certain member of staff visibly getting angry at us. Treated appallingly. 2 females sisters dining alone. Wonder if our husbands had been in attendance we would have been treated as badly. I think not. Shame as this would have been ours and family members go to . You should be ashamed comes to mind.

Customer service was very good from waiting staff. Most of the food was nice but some... so so. I would go again to try something other than my order as I feel they're a decent little restaurant with a good possibility of improving the food.

We had a meal here for my daughter’s 18th birthday, we had a kissagram booked and they allowed the kissagram to perform his 5 minute routine. All the staff were super helpful and were so polite, they couldn’t do enough to help. The food was amazing and there was a large menu to choose from. We were a party of 18 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A great night out

25/05/23 As a common restaurant to the Simlas, they did a brilliant job on my mum's birthday, the food is amazing, I understand that we have a lot of orders going on since we reserved a big table for 8, but Dill handled it amazingly, he took good care of us. My great auntie's family enjoyed that. So let's talk about the food, the food is fabulous, everything is warm and hot, they are 5-star quality, and the curries were steaming, which implies how good the curries were. Service, everyone was treating my family well, I would love to say a big thank you to all of the staff working so hard behind the scenes. Dill was carrying at least 6 plates at a time, how amazing is that? The restaurant vibe and mood, wow wow wow, the mood, as always, is spectacular, and the music and lighting are perfect. My great auntie and her fam the way from Hong Kong, which means this will be a very memorable moment for them. They all enjoyed it. They love the decoration, vibes, and everything, when you walk in, you'll see a big piece of "water bubble decoration" that is so therapeutic. Haha The price range is normal, which is what you would expect if you are going to an Indian restaurant. But with a brilliant service. They handled the birthday well, we bought the cake by ourselves and they let us store it in their fridge, so if you want to hold a birthday party here, this is it, this is the place!! Again I would love to say a big thank you to all of the staff who has been working so ha!! 24/06/23 Same restaurant, same lovely atmosphere! (something's never changed) It is an amazing experience, Dill recommended I try a dish with salmon, as a pescatarian, I am oddly happy to try it. The Salmon taste phenomenal, it is incredible. I can't even use my words to describe that salmon, it's soft on the inside, perfectly cooked, flavored in its way. Comes with some delicious side dishes. The pillow rice is perfect, warm temperature, fresh, and nicely cooked. It is my 5th time coming to Simla now and I just can't resist it. They have their cooking style and you can taste the dish from them. Must try it!! (Just to mention you can customize your dish style, side dish, etc) Thank you Simla for being so nice to my family!

Went there for my partners 40th. Took them 6 minutes to find my reservation, my girlfriend pointed out my name, which was crossed off, even though it was booked a month in advance. Starter took 30 minutes, it was bland and tasteless. When our plates were taken, I had to highlight, that we were still waiting for our main, which took another hr. Again food was vile!!! We won't be returning.

Walked in greeted by a friendly waiter followed by a dark beard one with a bad attitude. Was going to walk out, but decided to stay. Quite busy on a Friday night with a good atmosphere. Food was pretty average with generous accompaniments for the bland and not crispy poppadoms; garlic nan was fine and the lamb bhuna could have had a bit more kick to it. All in all not as good as others close by.

Went on a recommendation, but service was poor, food wasn’t that tasty, wasn’t very hot also and dishes were missing. Sauces to go with poppadoms are so minuscule you have to buy more. I’m not sure why it’s necessary to have a sauce squiggle on the plate that dries rock hard either. Really disappointed.

I live in New Zealand, but every time I come back to visit family I make sure I visit here. I've been going for 15 years and it never disappoints!

We usually have a take away from this restaurant, large portions and top quality, always lovely food. Eating in is just as good. great friendly fast service and great food. Well worth a visit.

We tried this place for the first time tonight as someone had recommended it but it wasn't nice at all. Very dark inside, popadoms were stale, food came out & my wife's curry had no taste to it & the chicken was that hard she couldn't cut it, my curry was average but the chicken was hard & the lamb was very chewy. Wont be paying a second visit.

Have been here a few time and always had a good experience. However my last visit was far from good. The service was poor, rude and rushed. After receiving our poppadoms, we was asked every 2mins if we was ready to order starters, I understand they like to bring out your next meal as you finish so your not kept waiting but this felt very pushy. Our starters came out before we had all finished our poppadoms and they started taking plates my friend said "sorry I haven't finished" as the man lifted the plate, he then continued to take the plate with the poppadoms and walked away. Again asked every 2mins to order our mains feeling rushed again to hurry up and leave (it wasn't busy and was empty tables) My vegetarian friend ordered a main and asked for "NO CHICKEN" the waiter repeated the order making sure she did not want chicken ans was told she was vegetarian, her food then came out with chicken! After being asked if she would like to "pick it out or have another one made" they then apologised and can't out a few mins later with her order chicken free! I am never one to complain but the service here was awful!!

Went to Simla yesterday evening 7th Feb. an ad hoc decision with my son. Love the contemporary fittings. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable when we asked questions about our food choices. We're also directed to the banquet special offer Mondays and Tuesdays for £12.95 each which we took up. Great choice, will return.

Ordered a takeaway which came in plastic containers and cold. Popadoms were cold and sauce/onions warm? Balti chicken was dry plus cost 30p extra for it to be a little spicier! RIp off - will not be ordering from them again. How can you charge 30p for extra curry/madras powder?

Warm welcome and modern setting. Table for 2 was way too small to be comfortable abd the plates were too big to fit. The food was nice but not amazing; It's such a disappointment when mango chutney is just a runny jam with no mangoes in! Was hoping for a wow, but nice was no bad thing.

Best sit-in curry I've ever had... EVER! Food is amazing, piping hot and beautiful taste and texture. The Keema naan with cheese is AMAZING. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

Ordered for delivery, the food came within 15 mins! The tandoori chicken in a mild malayan sauce, was already cut off the bone and shredded for me in the sauce. This makes a big difference, and the meat was tender & food fresh & tasty

Pleased to say it was a good experience. Quite a simple, clean restaurant with fairly standard menus, meaning you can't go far wrong. Unlicensed so we brought our own drinks; glasses provided as soon as we sat down. Food came out quickly, a decent amount and tasted as expected. Staff were all polite and friendly.

The best place for a curry....booked the complete downstairs for a Birthday Party and the guys there did a brilliant job in looking after us all. 35 starters, mains and sides all served quickly and well presented Couldn't have had a better night

Staff were lovely, restaurant very clean and welcoming, didn't book but was offered a table straight away. Only downside was lack of vegitarian main courses and gluten free options.

Started using this place again recently for delivery & made me wonder why I used anywhere else. Food was absolutely delicious, delivered quickly & arrived tasty and hot. The tandoori chicken balti is my current favourite!

We only normally use this place for a sit down as a treat, however due to the strange times we are currently in we decided to have a takeaway. We expected a top notch meal and we weren’t wrong, the starters were lovely and the mains were as tasty as sitting in. The only thing I would score down is the naan but they never travel and in fairness were much better than our local takeaway. I would highly recommend for take out and look forward to returning to eat in once boris allows us to.

There are so many good food outlets in this area, but in my opinion, Simla can't be beaten.Although we all have our favourite dishes, whatever you chooses here is always flavorsome, fresh and plentiful. Service is friendly and efficient but not pushy. The team do not disappoint.With lockdown Mark 2 underway, I had to order takeaway. Lots of people had the same idea and no wonder. Still, having ordered on the phone, the wait was minimal. Again, all dishes were distinct in flavours and up to the highest standards, I was not disappointed. The sooner we can get back to visiting though, the better.

I’ve been ordering deliveries from here for many years and the quality of the Currys had been consistently excellent. Never too salty. Great base sauce. Best in boldemore by far. If you like chilli then go for a hot dish as the medium dishes aren’t over spiced.

Atmosphere is lovely in the restaurant. Food is always presented beautifully and so tasty! Visited the restaurant several times and also had take away, never fails and is always perfect! Couldn’t recommend enough.

We first visited this fabulous restaurant several years ago & frankly haven’t looked back since. On arrival the staff greet you with a professional yet very friendly tone. Even during the present circumstances of Covid we have, on a few occasions decided “last minute” as you do, to go for a curry & although we hadn’t booked a table, we thought we’d Just pop along anyway to see if they were able to accommodate us, fortunately they were & we’ve, as yet been able to dine there on every visit. However I do recommend you book first at the moment, especially if you intend to dine in a large group. Once dined here, trust me, you’ll be hard pushed to better it.When I say they’re willing to cater for your personal taste, I’m not kidding you. Just ask for what you’d like & you won’t be disappointed.My husband tends to be a little more adventurous than me I’ll be honest .. I tend to know what I like & like what I know. I can honestly say the quality of the food is extremely consistent & as yet I haven’t been there & not enjoyed a meal. Portions are generous, yet the quality is there ... no tough, overcooked chicken In the curries I’ve had & personally I can thoroughly recommend the English prawn cocktail starter .. it’s delicious.If you can .. I recommend you book a table downstairs to fully enjoy the fantastic water feature in the window .. it’s totally mesmerising .. However we’ve dined several times upstairs & the atmosphere is still cosy & not overcrowded (in my opinion).I could go on & on but I will spare you that!Just book & enjoy
