We have used delhi divan for quite a few weeks now via just eat. We have been collecting their stamps, and because we paid our bill tonight with their full stamp entitlement, they decided not to look after us tonight with the usual free Poppadoms and dips?? Guys, you need to look after the regulars that use on a regular basis, including when we've collected all the stamps!

i ordered the lamb madras, garlic and coriander naan and the saag paneer everything was lovely and it was delivered within half an hour through just eat which is impressive. lots of tender meat in the curry and the saag paneer was packed too. only thing was the saag had a bit of a funny taste to me so i couldn’t eat it just ate the cheese out of it but i’m not too sure what it was or if it was just me

The food was horrible. Let’s start with the chicken tikka masala- it had so much sugar and so much food colour added to it. The taste was very bad. The aaloo chaat was stale. It wasn’t even authentic. None of the items I ordered were authentic Indian food or even food. The taste was horrible. The naan also had sugar. Who puts sugar in naan? There was this aalo sabji which was again not good in taste. The lamb curry was a little decent. I would NEVER order from here again. £30 wasted!!!

I booked here for a meal with my friends after receiving a leaflet through the door with their grand opening offer of 40% off exclusively for the first 3 months. On receiving the bill without any discount taken off I queried why we hadn't received the 40% off and was told they were no longer upholding this offer....it was less than a month after their opening! They lost any future business from me as a result. I go elsewhere.

This is the worst balti I have ever had in my life! The onion bhajis were an absolute waste of my energy to eat, and money (so was everything else from here); I had ordered mushroom bhaji, not onion bhaji!. When I come to eat them, they were rubbery and so overcooked. Not to mention, they oozed out with grease when I cut into them. The samosas were terrible... they had no spice and weren't very big, and were soggy like an old, sweaty sock, and frankly not much better tasting. Never buy the mint sauce unless you like the taste of a used soap bar in your mouth and the salad tasted watery and gritty. The Bombay aloo had very little potato (almost like they are on a cutback), even though the name is potato!. When I went in it was very small and cramped inside, but very clean and laid out nicely. Overall very disappointing and will NEVER EVER COME HERE!!! 😡

There are a dozen or so balti houses in Stirchley (Pershore Rd) and this is definitely our favourite. Extremely good prices, take your own booze, welcoming staff who will help recommend food and cater to the fussiest of diners. Never had a bad curry from Bengal Chaa. Smaller and set back fron the road, so it's maybe not as noticeable as some other Indian restaurants but it is homely, fulfilling and always satisfying. Recommend the Tikka Masalla or Dhansak but have tried many of their dishes. 5 star.

I have visited this restaurant twice within a month which says a lot about it on it's own. It is a small restaurant, well decorated with good lighting. The staff are all friendly if a little blasé about service, they just seem to get on with it. You are there for the food though which I must say I found almost faultless. Everything I have had there is fresh, tasty, full of flavour and well presented. I can highly recommend the mixed grill starter and chicken anakhali main. If you are looking for a good local Indian meal in Stirchley you couldn't do much better. I would recommend you book in advance because it is a small restaurant and busy. On recently staying in the area I've ordered from Bengal Chaa three times now, collecting in person each time. All things being well and there being no problems with the order they are as nice as pie. However on my third visit there was a problem with the order, and things quickly took a turn for the worse. I ordered a curry and found it wasn't what I'd expect from a curry, it tasted more like a balti than a curry. So I returned promptly to the (empty) restaurant and told them this tasted like a balti. I then exprienced the dark underbelly of Bengal Chaa. The till operator’s face dropped, and he asked why I thought it was a balti not a curry. I explained it tasted different, and he said to look in the dish and tell him if there were onions in it. I said I don't know about onions but it didn't taste like curry. He said if there are no onions in it it’s a curry. I said are you saying a balti without onions is a curry, he said yes indeed, a balti without onions is a curry. That doesn’t make sense, so I requested a refund so I could go next door and buy a curry. He refused, declaring I'd eaten half of it. I asked why I would go home, unpack the curry and settle down to eat it, eat half, then get up again and come all the way back to Bengal Chaa in the cold to complain about it. At this point two more staff joined us and stood around me staring. One of them said he thought I'd eaten some because the curry fit in one tupperware dish when it ought to be overflowing. I said this obviously wasn't the case as I’d brought the whole thing back, and if they cooked up a new curry and mixed it in with rice they'd see it fit in that tupperware dish too. I pointed out rice mixes in with curry much like sugar or sand might, it's not a bulky addition. The original staff member then said if I wanted to return it where was the poppadum. I said the poppadum is complementary and not on the menu so why would I return something I didn't pay for, he said if I wanted to return the dish I should return the whole thing, poppadum too, even if it was free and not part of the listed order. I said if I wanted poppadum I'd have ordered poppadum, they throw it in with all dishes with a little bag of onions which I hadn't returned either. The original staff member then said he wouldn't refund me because the ingredients and preparation cost money and they have overheads to think about. I said if he didn't refund me he'd have my money and I'd go hungry, which wasn't fair on me. I also said he should be more concerned with building customer relationships rather than scrimping and saving on single dishes. The man then said he'd never had a problem with any other customers. I said it's not about how you handle things when things go well it's how you handle things when they don't, and I didn't like my dish and he wasn't handling it well at all. He then said he would call the police unless I left, and I said to go ahead. He then did actually call the police, and I waited around for them to arrive, which they did quite promptly. When two police officers arrived I told one of them the same thing outside while the other went in to discuss the matter with the staff. By this point there was a whole bunch of staff in there, I'd say five or so, some people had come down from upstairs, it was quite an event in there while I stood outside with the officer discussing the Bengal Chaa customer service. After a while the police officer came out and said they wouldn't refund me but if I still wanted the dish I could have it. Having been delayed by half an hour by this poor customer service I wasn't going to accept my dish back, or any other. The police officer recommended I contact the consumer watchdog, and I went next door and ordered a burger and fries instead. So thats the story of the penny-pinching views behind the scenes at Bengal Chaa. Beware lest you ever have a problem with your order, you'll never get your money back.

I asked why I would return home, unpack the curry and settle down to eat it, eat half, then get up again and come all the way back to Bengal Chaa in the cold to complain about it. At this point two more staff joined us and stood around me debating the matter. I said if I wanted poppadum I'd have ordered poppadum, they throw it in with all dishes with a little bag of onions which I hadn't returned either (actually I use that little bag in sandwiches the next day usually then throw the rest away, but I didn't mention that). The original staff member then said he wouldn't refund me because the ingredients and preparation cost money and they have overheads to think about. I said the customer should be right and if he didn't refund me he'd have my money and I'd go hungry, which wasn't fair on me. I also said he should be more concerned with building customer relationships rather than scrimping and saving on single dishes, as I'd already been there twice with no problems and were he to be more accommodating would likely come again. I believe at this point one of the other waiters was contemplating refunding me but the original staff member flatly refused, saying he'd never had a problem with any other customers. I said it's not about how you handle things when things go well it's how you handle things when they don't, and I didn't like my dish and he wasn't handling it well at all, why would he insist on keeping my money leaving me hungry after I'd returned the dish in the cold. Having been delayed by half an hour to 40 mins by this poor customer service I wasn't going to accept my dish back, or indeed any other - I'm not sure what they were offering at the time it might have been a replacement or the same dish repackaged, I don't know but anyway I refused. The police officer recommended I contact the consumer watchdog, and I went next door and ordered a burger and fries instead. So thats the story of the dark, penny-pinching views behind the scenes at Bengal Chaa, for which all those initial smiles are a front. Beware lest you ever have a problem with your order, you'll never get your money back. If you never have a problem with your order, you'll have a great time and come away thinking the Bengal Chaa care about their customers. Should you ever go there I hope you end up with the happy illusion rather than the unfortunate truth.

Great food, so well priced. It may not be as flash as some nearby but what it lacks in flash it makes up for with flavour

It was one of the tastiest dishes we had in a while. Both Yasir and Arusha were excellent at providing us with advice and they also gave my husband a wonderful treat for his birthday with the yummy brownie dessert. We will definitely come back. Thank you!

The quality of chicken was awful. It had fat and weird pieces in our Butter chicken. Put me off of their food. The service and atmosphere was great but for food, it's not authentic Indian food. Someone who wants authentic Indian food, please avoid. Thank you.
