The food was amazing! Especially the chappali kebabs best I've had.

Meat was not fresh and overall very average tasting karahi, more of lahore taste than the food from frontier area

Lovely family friendly place to eat, accommodating family booths. The food was fresh and delicious specially the Chappal Kabab and the service made you feel at home.

Ideal for an office dinner or lunch. I was here recently with a group of 8 friends. Seating was adequate and the place looked busy. Customer service was satisfactory. Quality of the food was excellent and prompt.

Really lovely food, nice flavours, meat soft and we'll cooked - only thing I would improve is to check meat for small and sharp pieces of bones and I don't mean the one is attached to the meat but those that should have been removed when cut and cleaned. It was a pleasure dining at Shinwari Dera; we had the Shinwari Chicken Karahi and the Kabuli Polau. The food tasted really good and was well-presented, the staff friendly and attentive and the overall ambience was clean and suited for families. It could be tricky finding a parking space on busy evenings. I would definitely visit again.

I went here with a large family, good seating and clean. The food was really well cooked. The large mix grill and the menu in general is a little over priced considering the portions. The lamp chops were cooked to perfection and the tikka was not dry as most places. The lamb and chicken shinwari mains were spectacular. The only issue was the lamb had small loose bones in the gravy which was a pain, But overall I enjoyed the food.

The Lamb Charsi Karahi was a highlight; the flavors were rich and satisfying. My only suggestion would be to add a little more sauce to enhance the dish even further. The grill chops and wings were absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection with a delightful blend of spices. While most of the meal was exceptional, I found the lamb kebab and chicken kebab to be lacking in comparison. These dishes could use a bit more attention to reach the same standard as the rest of the menu. Despite this minor setback, the excellent service and the majority of the dishes more than made up for it. I look forward to returning and enjoying more of what Shinwari Dera has to offer!

Food is always on point , we had charsi lamb karahi , naan , salad as a quick meal & it was delicious. Freshly cooked , piping hot table naan and the owner came out to ask if we needed anything else. Prices are reasonable & good setting.

We had pleasure to dine here today, and had an excellent experience. They have private spaces for the families with curtains. The food served to us was very authentic and similar to what we have in Peshawar. We had lamb charsi tikka, lamb charsi karahi, chapli kebab and qabli pulao. Charis tikka were extremely tender and juicy, chapli kebab were nice and charsi karahi along with pulao were authentic. The staff were all very welcoming, helpful, and pleasant. We will definitely return in future insha'Allah. 10/10 for the food, staff and environment

Had shinwari lamb karahi.very nicely cooked lamb.it was tender and we didn't have to wait long either.my only issue was not enough gravy to go with half a kg lamb so bear that in mind when placing an order. We'll be back to try something else

Worst management. Not recommended with family. They don’t know how to host customers. One staff will make u sit on a table and the other may come and ask u to leave the table. No hospitality although pakhtoon/ Afghan is all about hospitality. We visited the place and experience the same. The food might be good. It’s an embarrassment.

The large Afghani naan was fully burned!and the chapli kebab were dry and extremely spicy me and my family drove an hour for this .the sauces are tasteless it was our first time trying it and it was the worst experience ever.

Service and food is bad . Lamb khatahi smells like fish because they use contaminated oil restaurant was very hot and stuffy price so high lamp kharhai and one kubuli paloo £73.00 and my all family was sick after got home i never go back again music was very high ☹️

Had an amazing experience here. Ordered chicken Kadai and biryani. Both were delicious. In fact we ordered fries for kids and they were fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend for authentic desi fine dining. Large naan presentation was a show stealer.

Probably best place in Birmingham for eating tarka daal mash and shinwari charsi karahi. Very spacious. Service is amazing. Delicious food. Barbecue is not as amazing as kabul darbar but karahi is better.

Started badly - we were told toilets are for customers only. Let the customer wash his hands please without interrogation. On to the food: lamb chops probably the worst I've ever had. Pilau was passable but nothing to rave about. Kebabs just no flavour. Hardly finished before being rushed out. Also charged £3 for extra salad after we spent £50 between 2. Terrible experience.

Unexpected visit, last min choice, found on Google. Spent £43.00 for the food and it did not disappoint. Tastefully decorated with the option of a private booth for more intimate setting. We didn't wait too long for food and was served immediately when we went in. It's not too loud or too busy there's option to choose seating as well. The food was fresh, the kabuli rice was generous in its portion and unexpectedly had lamb in it. The mixed grill had a lovely char too it and the seasoning on the lamb chops was divine. First time for my friend to try out food from this region of the world and it was a wonderful experience. Service was fab too. Will deffo come back. You also have option to take the food with you home which we opted for as there was a lot for two people to eat.

Went there last month from starter to main everything was horrible. Chapli kebab reheated, kabuli pulao reheated, charging tikka sheep meat rather than lamb. Lamb Charsi karahi precooked. Service Non existent It was a bad experience. Ate at this place when it opened, food was amazing - that was some time ago

We had the chapli kebabs, these were great. Juicy kebab and portion size was huge. Their lamb charsi karai was great too along with the charsi tikka. To top it off, we really enjoyed the mango lassi. Overall a great experience at a nice clean place with good service.

Where do I Start!!!! Ordered a mix grill and a charsi karahi . Amazing flavours mouthwatering taste. Tasted really fresh and you also get choice of spice level . Really good environment and the staff were very polite. Excellent customer service . Very very recommended.

Disappointed with the kabuli pilao. It was £15 for a large portion but was not very flavourful. It was made with lamb but not lamb shank and there was not kuchen carrot and raisins in the rice.

Ordered the Charsi Lam Shinwari with Chappal Kebab and Afghani Pulao. The food was good and the taste spot on. Recommended for desi lovers who know what desi should taste like. However the vibe of the place wasn't too catchy and service needs to be improved as we ordered roti and upon enquiring at least 15-20 mins later, they had no update on it. Lack of communication between the staff, and a piece of advise to the owner if he reads this, please change the person who responds the phone, he'll loose you business I guarantee. Man doesn't know how to talk and lack the communication skills too. Stars are just for the food ☺️

I had a great visit to this authentic Pakistani and Pakhtoon restaurant on Ladypool Rd. The staff helped me navigate the menu and serviced up a great mixed grill and an amazing hanging naan! Would recommend to anyone after authentic cuisine and not the British influenced Indian food we’re all used to. Great meal and really good value!

My regular place at stratford road was closed so i tried chicken karahi and it is the worst chicken karahi i ever had. There is no taste whatsoever. Never ever again from this place.

Went into the restaurant for the first time . Very strong smell of incense. They probably had that on to cover the smell of the ponging waiter. All I could smell in the place was onions like pit smell. Atleast make sure your waiters have a shower before they come to work . Food was well below average and the chapatis were paper thin. When you have 6 people sitting there . You don't put 1 little tub of each sauce there so you can over charge for more . Think I got charged appropriately £20 for the extra sauces and salad. Complete piss take . They should be complimentary. Your so called chicken supreme burget meal for £8 was some cheap processed chicken burger . Atleast give fresh fillet burgers for that price . Sheesh kebabs at €6 a portion . Extorinate .your not a Michelin star restaurant for gods sake . Just a takeaway that requires a deep clean to get rid of the ponging smell in your place. Definitely won't be using this place again and advise others not to bother either.

Compliments to the chef, the food was very tasty and proportions are very generous ! The flavour profile is certainly different to ordinary curry houses and in my view was refreshing and very appetising ! We had a mixed grill, Kabul pulao, the in house lamb charsi karai and a naan! For the three of us this was plenty! The service was excellent and the waiter guided us through the menu. Will be returning again.

No taste in food we went on recommendation of friend and utterly disappointed. Servers were in their own zone. No manners of hospitality. Even i have to ask for forks and spoons to eat fish and kebabs. Charsi tikka was under cooked and shinwari karahi was dull. Waste on money and time

Very nice food and courteous staff. Unfortunately very loud music which constant and irritating! I requested the staff to turn down the volume but was told that owner is very strict about it and doesn’t allow this. It this choice of music is a bit more broad and volume is kept low- this Resturant will be one of the bests in Birmingham. I hope this helps. Best wishes!
