Silver Leaf in Belfast

The service here is absolutely dismal. My daughter went in to collect the telephone order. According to their website, our order should have come to £16.10. They charged my daughter £24.40. When she got the meal home, some of the order was missing. I went back down (with hungry children waiting at home) and they said they had overcharged me by been £2. When I pointed out that it was actually over £8 overcharged, the staff said they had nothing to do with the website, which I don't believe for a moment. The attitude was appalling, and they didn't seem to give a toss about the inconvenience of having to drive back to sort out the food they didn't supply and being overcharged. Eventually, and with bad grace, they refunded me £4, but not the full amount. I have only just noticed the other reviews, so it seems my experience is not a one off. Needless to say we will not be returning. Trading Standards should take a look.

Ignore the negative reviews which are either from 5 years ago or not food related. We have fish and chips once a week and have tried every chippy in the East. The Silver Leaf wins hands down. Freshly battered while you wait and not greasy. The Bethany (lower Newtownards Rd branch not Belmont) is still a decent option but SL is consistently good.

Mi esposo y yo hemos probado varias tiendas de chips en el área. Silver Leaf es, de lejos, nuestro favorito. El personal es amable, las porciones son geniales y el pescado y las patatas fritas son de buena calidad.

Went to the silver leaf tonight for dinner. Food was good. Disappointed that you could not get bread and butter and tea with our meal due to the shop closing 2 days later for a holiday If i'm not mistaken the silver leaf is a take away/sit in chippy. Should these requirements not be available to their costumers wether there is a holiday break or not.

Another great Chippy to have experience. Nicer than others I have tried. A must recommend and a great selection!

Nice place for a bit of hard to find quality Cod. Add some chips and ur all set. Never sat in but space up stairs.

Just had a lovely fish meal from here. Couldn't fault it. Staff friendly. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

The 2nd time I've eaten in here in the 3 weeks. Just moved to Belfast from Scotland, and this is the only chip shop I've seen that sells haddock. The fish is fresh and cooked to order, the batter is lovely and crispy. The chips are dry, fluffy and crispy as well. The restaurant upstairs is lovely and clean. The staff are polite and friendly. Brilliant chippie. Will be back soon

I have eaten here a number of times through the years and the quality of the food has went downhill as the prices have soared. It has changed hands a number of times but I fear it’s halcyon days are gone. It was the ultimate food destination in the 80s and 90s. On the plus side the staff are very friendly. I suppose if you had to,put up with some of the customers that they do you would become very disheartened too.

Lovely staff, food gorgeous, fish massive! Would definitely come back again. Upstairs we’ll kept & clean. Great place for food on a budget as portions are very big!

Absolutely never again. My advice...go across the road to Bennets. The silver leaf had dirty cutlery, dirty floors and very greasy food. Very disappointing.

Really nice food. Reasonably priced. However didn’t have forks so I had to eat my food with my hands... so bring your own if you’re not going to eat the food in your house...

I always looked forward to my once a week fish,chips and peas from The Silver Leaf. I always got The pensioners meal deal. Always good value for money. This week however so disappointed. I got a very large portion of pale chips and the fish was a little bit bigger than a fish finger, no crispy batter just a sad soggy fish. I'm not even going to give The Silver Leaf a second chance as the whole thing went into the bin. Sorry this is so negative but was wondering if it had different owners

The Silver leaf restaurant offers really Good food if you like old style fish and chips (with buttered bread, salt and vinegar). Well presented. Standard is constantly good. Friendly staff. I would recommend.

I like my fish and chips and took the family to the sit in part. Staff were great, food was delicious and the prices were great. Extremely clean chippy. Never had such a great fish and chip ever. Highly recommended.

Delivered 3 hours earlier than chosen time, restaurant argued I was wrong even though driver checked time with me. Order was then 20 minutes late arriving when re delivered and I was told on phone they were busy

Regular customers of the silver leaf, try to order at least once a week. We have now just receivied our order and it's straight in the bin. Order took an lifetime to be delivered you can imagine how cold it was. The fish was cold , the batter was soggy....only good thing about the meal was the coke!!

The chips weren't nice at all! There was barely any potato inside! My 2 year old almost choked on them because they where that overcooked they where rock hard! And so chewy! Won't be ordering again

Ordered from this place 3 times. 1st time was excellent, food arrived really quick, food was piping hot and delicious! Sadly their ability to maintain this service is poor. Second time I waited an hour and a half before my food was delivered, the food was very unsatisfying as I had fish which was dry and the batter was doughy and the food arrived luke warm. Tonight I waited for an hour and half again for my food to arrive, literally about to eat my arm at this stage and when it arrived it was stone cold and part of our order was missing. Spent over £15 for freezing food and half of our order missing which we are now having to purchase items to make up our dinner as the shop is closed and going by other reviews they seem to be very unhelpful and unsympathetic! I will never be ordering from here again, twice now my orders have been unsatisfactorily and getting worse each time. It's such a shame as when they get it right it is excellent however they are far to unreliable!

Gutted. Was looking forward to it but we got melting polystyrene boxes, soggy chips with way too much grease and a chewy pastie. Daughter devoured her burger to be fair. Rather have cardboard boxes tho and crispy chips!!

My curry chip looked & tasted as if it had been microwaved or put into an oven to be reheated (the polystyrene container had actually melted slightly on the outside)

I order and they give a time and they are always here before the time. The service is very good and the food is of good quality.

Disappointed as asked for extra £1 when delivered as the delivery charge given was not correct! Also, fish batter was doughy - not nice crisp batter would have expected and get elsewhere.

Worse ever will not order again but delivery was good batter on the fish and the cod bites wasn't cooked long enough!!

absolutely ridiculous. my order was over an hour late so i phoned the place, to be told by the ( "pleasant, well spoken" NOT ) girl on the phone that the delivery man had been and gone . they did not come at all, lazy place . usually love the food but after this i will never order again.

Really disgusting! The chicken fillet burgers were like something from Iceland, chopped and shaped chicken. Chips were ok, pasties were rank. And they forgot some of our order. They were very nice and apologetic on the phone though. Horrible food.

Firstly they didnt deliver all of our order then when we rang to tell them there response was oh! We then had to ask that they send our main which they didnt send and they said yes half an hr later it still isnt here so the rest of the food is now freezing and unedible. Will never order from here again as we are now having to make dinner now as we are starving so we paid them for nothing

Fish supper lots of chips very little fish in very thick batter requested lots of salt and vinegar, got none. Kebab on chip small portion no sauce or salad as requested, dry kebab!!! in bin. Battered mushrooms good but no salt and vinegar as requested,...

Lots of chips, fresh fish and a nice medium thick golden batter. Arrived very quickly.

Very disappointed with the donor kebab. The pitta bread was rock hard and had shrunk to nothing. I ordered it with salad and it had nothing on it. On the positive, we ordered a beef burger and it was good and the delivery time was good but won't order from here again

For arrived after an hour and twenty minutes and it was stone cold. I ordered a chiChen burger and was expecting a fillet but received what appeared to be a frozen and processed burger. The steak sandwich had very little meat and the bap was soggy. Would not order again.

The problem is not with sliver leaf it lies with u and and the time I was told I would have it by 18:50 but silver leaf Did not revive it till 19:00 so there for I would like to know wat you are going to do about this matter

Quick delivery however finding a hair in my chip was not a nice extra.

Ordered kids meal, meal deal, hot dog and onion rings. The kids meal was too well done for my child to eat. The chips in the kids and the meal deal were burnt badly. Asked for onions on the hot dog and it just came in a stale burger bap with nothing on it. Took over an hour to arrive. On the plus the onion rings were nice.

This is my second order from these guys and I have to say, this absolutely has to be the best chippy in Belfast. Portions are massive and the food is delicious, delivery was within 20mins of placing the order. This is definitely my new favourite spot for a good burger and chips! Happy 2015 ^_^

Holy cow! This was probably the best burger and scallops that I've ever had from a chippy. Beautiful food and the portions are very generous. Will 100% be back ^_^

Biggest disappointment, donner meat was stinking burger strips which even my dog wouldn't eat. No salt or vinegar on chips from a chippy, very little steak with no cheese on the philly cheese steak meal. Waste of money

Delivery took over an hour and the food was just alright; the batter on the fish was a bit rubbery, as if it had been reheated.

two hours after I placed my order arrived cold phone resurant after an hour and got told was on way half an hour later still no sign phone back got told it was leaving then they are really busy I asked how is it only leaving now as I got told half an hour ago it left and I all my reply was well we are really busy sorry not even acknowledging the lie I got would avoid this place

The food was great, very tasty and filling, ordered on a Sunday evening and the major letdown for myself was the deliver time, estimated delivery was 45 minutes but had to wait well over an hour for the food to be delivered, this was the only let down as everything else was fine, would order again.

They forgot a fish supper for my order but they sent one out about 20 minutes later so it wasn't a massive issue. Not a bad chippy. Fish was on the small side though.
