Not quite what it was but still a nice restaurant in an interesting location.

Awful weather outside but it was great in here. There was good service from excellent staff. It was fun to have the ships coming past, even at lowish tide. The food, wine and whisky was all good. Children well catered for. Top spot.

Great place, great views and amazing food. Disappointed that we were not told what the catch of the day was and when we asked the server had to go and get a pad. Some of the paper menus were very dirty with coffee stains. Quite simple to sort out.

Classic top-notch restaurant. The views are great, saw dolphins swimming into the harbour during the meal. Atmosphere is relaxed. Seating, dinnerware, and interior all very well considered. The food was delicious. Had scallops with edamame and pork belly, it had just the right amount of everything. Same goes for the main of halibut with crab crust. The celeriac, crab emulsion, and halibut compliment one another and the crispy kale was the cherry on top that tied the whole dish together. Never thought I'd say that about kale! Soft drink, starter, and main for £50. Bargain for the quality of the experience.

The food is great, but the manager of the restaurant is an absolute douchebag. I've been coming there for years, as food is excellent, but I always see his face, he's so dull and unwelcoming, quite rude and not friendly at all! I have NEVER seen him smile, he's never said anything nice to me or my family/friends, whomever I was with. He needs to get a grip honestly. Apart from him, lovely place, great service and great food.

The location of the restaurant is very good, the seafood food is absolutely surprising, and the service attitude is very friendly; the daily catch number of the day is reported on the wall, and the seats are close to the window. You can also watch the ships entering and leaving the port while eating, and the view is first-class!

Absolutely exceptional. Went for their Valentine's day special. We were incredibly early (I blame the weather) but they were able to seat us straight away. Everything was absolutely delicious, the only downside for me was the very last dish but that's just down to personal preference, I just cannot mix sweet and savoury! I made a joke that we are definitely too hungry for the restaurant, we practically inhaled everything the moment it was brought out. Everything was beautifully presented and the staff were so lovely, and I can imagine on a clearer night, the views would have been stunning

We’ve eaten here on two occasions now and never been disappointed. A combination of unusual location, excellent food and superb service make this a place to treat yourself. A well managed, and cosy restaurant on the upper end of the market but absolutely worth it for special occasions.

My husband and I had a week in Aberdeen, and several travel blogs mentioned this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious with very fresh ingredients, and the staff were very kind. If you enjoy seafood, this is your place. The view is stunning, so be sure to book a table during daylight hours. On that note, it was fairly busy even in the off-season, so it's best to make a reservation.

Looking to flash the cash and impress the new crush, then this is the place for you. Great setting and views and an elevated perch to enjoy it from. Food is really good and the Oysters and any seafood is well prepared and presented,..but. It’s expensive. Yes, you are paying for top food and the location, but the wine is overpriced and looks like it’s just another squeeze on your wallet. Date going well and you are on your second bottle of the mid range plonk and you will be £80-£90 lighter which pushes this great place into the special occasions only category which is a shame.

The atmosphere was very nice and the food was also very good. As for the service...I added beer but they forgot. I got the impression that the staff didn't really look at the customers' tables.

This is supposed to be one of Aberdeen's top restaurants. The menu was disappointingly unimaginative and my selection (effectively Haggis Bon Bons followed by Halibut steak on a mixed seafood and cabbage with samphire soup) was only slightly above mediocre. My dining companion had gougons, chunky chips and a side salad which looked equally uninspiring, the plate piled dauntingly high more in the style of fast food than fine dining.

Truly amazing! The place is located in a unique and magical place, I highly recommend it! You feel like you are traveling in time, and at the same time you are located in the city! Iconic! I recommend booking in advance. The elegant, comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Very friendly, attentive and quality attention! The food takes all the honors, fresh food, with original dishes, unique combinations. Delicious, everything at its right point, balanced, a big congratulations to the chef! Definitely to return!

One of the few places where you can get 5 stars food in Aberdeen. Good service, great view of the sunset and nice environment.

Been here during my holidays in Aberdeen for a family lunch. We has scallops and fish soup as starter and 2 whole seabass as main while my little one had a margherita with chips. I eat excellent quality of fish prepared and presented very well. My only thumb down was for the margherita as it looks more like a quiche and my doughter had only a bite,but I don t want to judge this as we are italian and pizza for us is something else. A part this I can say that in 10years in UK this is the first time I ve had a fish so delicious. The restaurant is well presented and the location In the harbour is amazing! That s I big plus to me ➕️ I will defitenely come back in case I ll be around!

My favourite restaurant in Aberdeen. The crab straw fries are a particular highlight every time. Brilliant service and restaurant called a taxi for us too. Will be back again and again :)

Excellent meal. Really good service. Been here before. Just as good. Only criticism was the white bait was overly fishy.

Nice place to go for lunch or dinner. It's near to the coast so outside sceneries is awesome. Food options are mostly fish which you must try along with some other options for meat. Very less options for veg. Service is good.

Very simple setting, no table cloth. The dinner was accompanied by a very annoying noise coming from the bar fridge. Bread is served cold.

Alike an Oasis in the Desert, Silver Darling sits at the egde of an angered North Sea offering peace through Food. Pil Pil Prawns, the entry course, felt resourceful like a week in the Maldives, sitting by the beach and filling crosswords without a worry in the world. The main and drinks did not disappoint, though perhaps less adventurous. In a sky full of stars, one was lost for service given an almost-mechanical and stoic attitude, though still with utmost respect and care.

I really couldn't say enough about how great this place really is, you just have to experience it for yourself! The halibut dish was fantastic, and the lemon meringue cheesecake was decadent! This is a pic of the smoked salmon appetizer....

A nice dock side fish restaurant. Out of town so best to travel by taxi. Primarily seafood menu, good quality food. Service was great. Entry is up a spiral staircase; not sure if there is any wheelchair access.

Visited for our 30th Wedding Anniversary and was not disappointed! We love seafood and if you do and are in Aberdeen or visiting, this is a MUST try restaurant for some fine dining. Checked it out on trip advisor and had excellent reviews. Spectacular spot and great views of the ships coming in and out of port. We both had the lobster which was amazing. I had the crab soup to start, which was excellent. Staff were really informative, helpful (including hanging on so I could return to the restaurant and pick up something we left by accident) and really attentive. All round amazing experience 👍👌

Great place with a fantastic view, only to be topped off with even better food. We didn’t have a reservation and we were there just stopping over one night, the staff managed to find us a quick table and were super attentive.. it’s an overall 5 star from us.. thank you team!

This place is not accessible for mobility impaired. It's on the second floor up a twisty staircase. No way in hell you'll get in the bathroom, either. Food was good, somewhat overpriced.

First, I own my mistakes. I had made a 9pm reservation for the wrong day by accident. We arrived about 15 minutes before or reservation time and were told of my mistake. The first host said she would see if they could still fit us in. A second female host walked up and said there they were fully booked and couldn't help us. The issue we had was that we were early. We couldn't understand why they wouldn't have us wait and see if another reservation didn't show up. It was as of the second hostess simply didn't want to sit someone without a reservation. Yes, it was my fault, but I didn't detect much interest in helping out seeing if we could be fit in. We were really excited to try this restaurant and only in Aberdeen this one night. I am confident they could not have already known all 9pm reservations were going to arrive. While we waited for our return ride to our hotel, multiple groups arrived for their reservations.

Fabulous food, excellent choice of fish. Enjoyed the wine. Great views Service was not up to scratch. Would have liked a finger bowl with some of the fish dishes.

Great seafood restaurant in Fittie with fab views from the upstairs restaurant over the river entrance to watch all the ships. Starters and mains were superb, especially the scallops and sea trout. Desserts looked good but tasted just ok - chocolate tart felt like it had spent too long in the fridge. Staff were friendly and wine choices were good.

Our friends from the USA booked the table on their first night of their first trip to Scotland. They mistakenly only booked for 4 people instead of 5, however we were greeted by a very rude and unprofessional glasweigen server. He initially said he could not accommodate us, but then grudgingly pulled up an extra chair (the restaurant wasn't even half full that night). The food was ok, although our guests said their oysters didn't taste fresh. Overall would not recommend. Sadly ruined our American friends welcome to Scotland -- do better!!!

Fine dining restaurant, specialising in local seafood. The Sea Bass carpaccio was exceptional, couldn't recommend it enough. We also ordered the mariniere muscles which I found equally as good. I enjoyed the Linguine main course too, although I personally feel that it should have had a bit more seafood. Service was prompt and staff was very polite. While the general atmosphere was pleasant and views of the harbour are spectacular, small details such as uncleaned windows were a little disappointing given the fine dining experience that the place aims to provide. On the whole a nice overall experience, which I'd recommended for special occasions

The service was very poor for such expensive restaurant, any other restaurants we have been to has much better services, no bothered attitude from all staff. The chair was dirty, the size of langoustines we ordered was too small. No plan to go back again

Terrific food and good service.

We love this restaurant. All of the food is superb, really high quality, from the starters through to the desserts. A good selection of bottled beers and wines complement the menu, which is packed full of seafood dishes, with vegetarian and meat options also available. Try the paprika and parmesan fries, they're amazing!

Came without a reservation and told the only available table was backed up to reception desk, like right on it. One other couple in the restaurant at the time. By the time we left, still under half full. Food pretty good, nicely presented to be sure. Pil pil prawns very nice. But….for a place dedicated largely to seafood, not exceptional.

Lovely dinner with my daughter & granddaughter after vegas circus. Will be back some night I’m not driving & have lobster with wine. We opted for haddock and scampi for quickness. Kids fish goujons & white choc ice cream went down very well for my 22 month old granddaughter.

Had graduation dinner on the 4th of july, I made a mistake with my booking but the staff were very accommodating and understanding. They gave us the captains room, food, wine was amazing! Couldn't praise the staff enough

My partner had the Scallops for a starter followed by a fillet steak with deep fried oysters, I had the Trout with a Samphire Risotto and we shared the cheese board the meals were well cooked and nicely presented the only negative was the cheese board as the cheeses did not have much flavour apart from the blue

This is such a lovely place to try local produce. Cooked to perfection with a lovely view. We attended on a day where there was dolphins and seals in the harbour so our dining experience was extra special! Really would recommend for a special treat!

Although I'd been promising to take my wife here for a long time, we made the booking for tonight as it was a special occasion to celebrate my 71st birthday and our Golden anniversary. Yes,we got married on my 21st birthday. I could not have chosen a better venue. 100% first class, best food I've ever tasted (71) so I've tasted a few in my time. The staff were absolutely lovely and sincere.Please give the Silver Darling a visit if you are coming to this beautiful old village community in Aberdeen. Very nicely surprised with the bill and will call again very soon.

Great food, especially if you love seafood.👍 Nice ambience, very relaxing. Lovely views of ships sailing in and out of the harbour. Staff very professional and friendly. Regularly busy so book well in advance online. Quite a walk away from centre, so take a car or taxi. Worth a visit and a stroll round the nearby village. 🙂

Had a superb 'extended Family' lunch here today. Cullen Skunk that Cullen would have been proud of; Monk Fish that was exquisite with Vanilla Ice Cream as a worthy dessert. All this served by a delightful, skillful waitress ...and my older sister paid the bill.

Disappointing.. Small platter was OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Seafood fettucini was somewhat tasty but stodgy. Halibut was OK but why pair it with a garlic sauce?! Chocolate cake desert was excellent. Mediocre service. I wouldn’t return.

I have been recommended this place by a friend and was not disappointed. All of us, group of 4, enjoyed our meal. I had a fish and chips and the portion was substantial. Staff was friendly, too.

First visit for my 70 Birthday. Food was amazing we went for the platter to share with some sides.

Fantastic food and drinks, excellent location, very professional and friendly staff. The scallops and the hake were delicious, and the chocolate cake yummy. Will definitely come back on my next visit.

poor value for overpriced tiny portion .3courses served in less than 1 hour Coffee served before dessert.. Atmosphere dull even though it was busy pretentious place which acts as though it deserves a michelin star in fact it is a disaster If you make a beautiful meal for Grace Dent then that standard is for everyone.

The service was absolutely fantastic and the staff were very friendly. Sadly the food wasn't up to what I would have expected for the price and a restaurant with such a good reputation. The Cullen skink I had came in a tiny portion and had virtually no haddock in it. It was also rather grainy and bland, which was a huge disappointment. The main course was better but did not actually have much fish in it either. I had the seafood linguine which was beautifully presented but lacked seafood and substance. Which was disappointing for £25 for a small portion which could have passed as a starter. After paying up we had to go to a nearby pub to get some food to fill us up which provided a lot more fish of the same quality for a lot less.

lunch reservation spoiled . Arrived at table chair needed cleaning waitress watched as i cleaned. reasonably well cooked pil pil prawns but small portion Main was monktail more bone than fish served with extra bread and butter (2 slices cut in half ) £2 per slice with butter fresh out the fridge ,unspreadable but then no knife to spread it with. took order for dessert and coffee, served coffee before dessert when asked waitress said i know ,so why serve it? .All 3 courese and coffee served in less than an hour making the experience completely underwhelming .Over the years we have been several times on other people's recommendation .almost always disappointed ,this is our last we will not be back.

Saw a pod of dolphins swimming by while we were eating. Never had that at McDonald's, just saying... The food was so good, it made me reconsider religion itself. If starters can be this delicious, perhaps there is a God after all.
