Faffless in Aberdeen City

To be recommended! A really nice place for a sharing meal and a good glass. The host is very nice and he definitely lifted the experience with his knowledge and great humour.

Had a brilliant dinner on Thursday evening. Loved tbe space and art work in the place. The food was sensational. Every dish was delicious, the cauliflower and pesto and the bone marrow especially. The best dinner we've had out for a long time. Wonderful hosting, thoroughly enjoyed our night. We will definitely be back next time we are in Aberdeen. Thankyou!

Tried Faffless during Aberdeen Restaurant Week and immediately booked a return visit for a wine tasting. A small & friendly venue. Owner Craig’s enthusiasm and skill in selecting & stocking unusual, excellent wines and creating tasty dishes to complement them really shines through.

Our server Anona was great. The place wouldn’t be half as good without her service.

We spent a lovely New Year’s Eve afternoon here drinking Negronis. Fafless is a quirky, individual venue with delicious wine, food and coffee. The artwork on display adds to the atmosphere. Every time we’re there the owner Craig seems to facilitate easy interaction with the customers without being at all intrusive. Sure it’s not the cheapest place in town but if you’re looking for a lovely time in a relaxed atmosphere it’s a great place to go. Think we’re lucky to have it as a choice in Aberdeen.

Everything tastes really wonderful, and there's something for everyone. Their drinks are the best (especially the spicy marg's) and they have a wine for every occasion. And Craig, he's the guy who knows all about wine and whisky. He's fun to talk to and really knows his stuff. But heads up, he's a bit of a character. He's got this cheeky side that totally adds to the whole vibe of the place. He might push his luck a bit, but it's all in good fun and just makes the experience more entertaining. I would highly recommend this place for pretty much any kind of occasion.

Was in faffless last night for a chill one with the girls, Absolutely wonderful atmosphere and service. Delicious wine selection and the owner Craig went above and beyond, was full of chat and time for us. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who likes finer things in Aberdeen!!

First and last visit to Faffless. Went for a wine tasting event which was overpriced and the server/host was quite rude.

Came to faffless on Wednesday night for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was great! We couldn’t pick one wine so the owner offered a wine tasting which was both informative and delicious!

Had an amazing night at my first open mic, the atmosphere just sets you off in such a great warm cosy mood live music just sets it off and what more can you enjoy. Just a wee place, but I think this adds to the experience you will have as you will meet some lovely people. Anona was such a unit working on her lonesome but doing everything amazing and with a lovely smile. Thanks for such a great night, surely be back for the next one on my Bday.

This is a hidden gem . Amazing food - one of the best meals I have had for ages . Food cooked by hand - wine selection a dream & utterly delicious . Very reasonably priced for such high quality . Owner was lovely and made the experience special with a lovely free liquor . Highly recommended

Upon my first ever visit to the venue, I felt nothing but a warm welcome and exceptional service. Craig (the owner), had all the time for myself and my partner, and was more than happy to part knowledge and sit with us in the evening for a chat. The varied selection of wines to tasty rums is fantastic! Even more so the carefully curated dishes on their food menu. Atmosphere was very relaxed and we both felt very comfortable. Good lighting, great music and awesome artwork. Get yer'sel doon tae Faffles if you haven't already ❤️

Truly fabulous place. It was my birthday, and my wife took me out for pre-dinner drinks. Wonderful ambience, lovely attentive staff and a great choice of wine. Recommendations made by the staff were top-notch. Just a wonderful place - really great!

Something a bit different in Aberdeen in such a good way and needed. Craig, the owner, is super knowledgeable on wines. When we were in, he allowed us to taste before buying a bottle/glass. So refreshing to see a wine list with different wines and to be educated on the wines when you're there. Chatty, friendly, informative, we will definitely be back. Thank you

Went during Aberdeen restaurant week, which was maybe a mistake? Asked how many plates we should order for two people, went with that, and had to go home and make eggs and toast because we were still hungry. Never experienced that before! Also, each dish came with a wine but these were brought in one glass, even though there were two of us, which was a bit odd. Dessert was unfortunately something brought in from an external producer and was… ok. The plates were good, but small, certainly not appropriate for sharing for a dinner meal. And it was pricey - which would have been fine if we’d been fed enough.

What an amazing place! Had such a nice atmosphere, the owner was very nice and showed a positive attitude towards his customers. Very unique interior with lovely art work on all the walls. Very calming environment and would definitely be going again with friends!!

Whilst me and my other half were back visiting home in Aberdeen, we decided to catch up with a group of friends for a chill drink and some nibbles and Faffless had been recommended, especially for its wine. Well I can confirm that the wine is excellent. However the service, as well intentioned as it was, left us confused by the concept of a ‘faffless’ experience. To begin with, one of our party just wanted a lager or at the very least a simple IPA. Neither were available (which happens, fair enough) and alternatives were offered. We then tried digest a single menu between five people to decide on how to start off the food and drink. When we asked for more menus, our server Craig said that it’s better just to ask him because if he had to print a menu every time the wines changed that it wouldn’t be very good for the trees. Love the note on sustainability but not so much the fact that you either provide a menu for use or you don’t. When we agreed as a group that we would like to go for some red, we were then immediately proposed with an alternative. Now, the sparkling alternative that was suggested was great but it got to the point where every request was met with an alternative and having read a review of a similar experience on here, it may be worth simply delivering on what the customer needs and then building on that. Next, the glass situation. Oddly for a venue that specialises in wine, there were not enough wine glasses in the building, which meant that either our first glasses would be taken away for a quick rinse, or we just ended up mixing wines. Considering that we were encouraged to try 3 different kinds of wine, it did seem a little odd. When premium wines are at play, surely the glassware should meet that standard? Or is that too much faff? Finally, the bill. Upon settling up at the end of the evening, there seemed to be some confusion with the final part of the split payment between 5. Craig was keeping a tally on paper whilst I’m not entirely sure what was showing on the electronic POS. In a nutshell, my other half was told that he had only paid £20 when he thought he had actually paid £120. When we were told this, Craig in a resigned and quite frankly disappointed tone said “come on guys”. Not in a humorous tone but in a “it’s 11 and we want to go home and I can’t be bothered with this” which made us feel like we’d done wrong. Fast forward to the next day, when we receive a text stating that we’d been overcharged and that a refund of £100 has been issued. No apology. The environment was great, the wine was a revelation and generally due to the company, we had a great night. However, in hindsight, there were some key moments from a service perspective where the ball was dropped, which ultimately for several members of the party, means that there will not be a repeat visit.

Great little wine bar/bistro, serving light meals & drinks you won’t find in many other places, all with some great art work on the walls to admire (and buy!) The owner (Craig) and his staff are very helpful, friendly & knowledgeable. If they don’t have the drink you’re after, they’ll do their best to come up with a suitable alternative. If you’re looking for somewhere a bit different, but still providing a warm, relaxing atmosphere, I would thoroughly recommend Faffless

Great wine, excellent atmosphere and an owner who is incredibly knowledgeable. What's not to love? I've yet to try the food but I can confirm that it smells incredible! The menu is relatively short which is always a great sign in my book. And it's dog friendly too. Definitely my favourite haunt in the city.

ASK THE PRICE BEFORE YOU BUY!!! We paid our first ever visit to Faffless on Friday. Wanting to support local businesses and liking its quirkiness we decided pop in for a glass of wine on our way home. We were given a warm welcome and when we expressed an interest in wine our host told us about the 2 reds he had. He let us taste both which was nice and we plumped for the Austrian one. We ordered 2 glasses then agreed to take the bottle as 4 glasses cost the same as a bottle. After an hour of discussing the art and enjoying our wine we went to pay. I tried to pay by cash which he didn’t accept saying the risk to his staff taking thousands of pounds to the bank was too great 🙄 so I paid by phone. My phone beeped as I saw £60 flash before my eyes😳 I couldn’t believe it! At no point we’re we offered a wine list to see the price and he had plenty of opportunity to tell us how expensive the bottle was before we decided on it. Even at the till he didn’t ask for £60, he just put the amount in and the first I knew about it was when it flashed up on the card machine as my phone beeped. We’ve been in some pretty nice places in the past and never paid £60 for a bottle of wine. It’s a shame that somewhere local feels the need to hoodwink the very people who want to support them. 9/3/23 In response to your reply....... We did enjoy our visit and can see that you've had many good reviews, which is great. There may well have been a wine list on our table but we didn't see one, only the food one which we did look at. You came to our table as soon as we sat down and we immediately began talking about beers and wine. This would have been the perfect time to hand us the wine list. You offered us 2 wines to try and when you said the one we chose was the most expensive we presumed you meant the most expensive of the two, not the most expensive one in the bar, this would also have been a good time to either show us the list with the price or tell us it was £60 a bottle. This feedback is given in the hope you wont presume everyone who visits Faffless can afford a £60 bottle of wine. As for Faffless being Cashless I'd do some serious looking into the implications of living in a cashless society, convenience isnt always the best. We may well return to sample some of your lovely sounding food

A nice none Franchise Coffee house and alcohol taster experiences.

Had a lovely Saturday afternoon with friends at Fafless, I had lamb chops and they were delicious. We had tailor made cocktails and really great French wine, all recommended by our fun waiter who looked after us so well. Give it a go, even if it’s just for a drink if you’re out shopping. I’ll certainly be back.

A uniquely decorated little haven, very cool and welcoming artistic quirks and design features showing the care and attention that is reflected in the menu.I had a superb rack of lamb while my friend chose the octopus, both were generous and first class. The waitress was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable, large choice of carefully sourced wine. A new favourite place with a great atmosphere, while retaining its'intimacy. Very reasonable prices.

Had a brilliant night at Faffless at the open bar night last Friday. The staff are knowledgeable about the drinks they served, giving me a gin I loved and made cocktails for my friends based on the flavours they preferred. Will definitely be back.

My new favourite place, by a mile. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and managed to pick two wines for me that were right up my street. It's unpretentious, friendly, and most importantly (to me), dog friendly. Just brilliant.

Been to Faffless a handful of times and always receive excellent service! I'm not a huge wine drinker so I never knew what I liked but the owner Craig is so good at advising you on the best kind of wine and I haven't had a bad glass of wine. Everything he recommends tastes amazing. I even brought my mum in for a drink and she loved it. There is a great atmosphere both when you're having a coffee or a drink and the staff are always welcoming and will sit and have a conversation with you too!

Such a great wine and whiskey bar in central Aberdeen! Had a low-fuss feel and welcoming owner with a fab selection of drinks and light bites. Lots of great whiskies to choose from. Nice and friendly atmosphere. The owner gave us great info and advices about the tasting notes and flavour of each one. I'm sad I haven't found this place earlier, and tomorrow is my last night in Aberdeen. This will be the first place I recommend to visit when you're in Aberdeen. Trust me, you'll want to visit again!
