Outstanding meal from start to finish. The sourdough is fantastic, ham hock terrine was superb, addition of a cured egg yolk gave the dish a beautiful creaminess and it was seasoned perfectly. A lovely tang from the chutney to finish it off. Fillet steak for main course was just awesome. Perfectly seared and seasoned and rested it was an absolute joy to eat. The accompanying carbs were great, beautiful potato terrine, lovely sauce and tomatoes. Lovely crispy shallots for texture. To finish I had a creme brulee which was prefect and served with a lovely warm madelaine. Great service from Mike and Kirsty. Great matched wines and beautiful coffee. Can't recommend enough.

We had a delightful meal at Cafe Boheme. We were literally the only people in at lunch on a Thursday and still received excellent service. The food was delicious; the beef was honestly one of the tastiest dishes I've ever had and my partner loved the French onion soup. This was a truly excellent meal that we enjoyed enormously. If you're in Aberdeen, I couldn't think of anywhere better to dine. Be warned though: it books up for supper well in advance!

Went for lunch with a friend yesterday. Hadn't been to the restaurant since the previous owner retired so was wondering if the standard would be as good. Everything was wonderful. Champagne at the right temperature instead of being ice cold. I had the french oinion soup, steak and creme brulee. All were divine as was the delicious dessert wine suggested by the waiter. Wonderful restaurant.

I am so grateful my boyfriend chose Cafe Boheme for our anniversary dinner, we couldn’t have had a better time. All the food we tried was amazing, we loved the mussels and the pigeon. The service was exceptional, they took very good care of us, always with a smile in their faces, they were so nice and paid a lot of attention to our needs even the restaurant was busy. I am so grateful for the time we had.

Thought long and hard on how to rate this place. Booked on the strength of reviews. Forgot that in Aberdeen there is a tendency to follow the pack, and Emperor's new clothes type of town. Upfront let me be clear, the cooking here is technically competent. The menu though is uninventive and uninspiring. The front of house staff were unengaged, except with each other, despite our efforts. Given the averageness of food and service, the price charged for basic fare was excessive. On the wine front bottles available for £10 on general sale were going for £40+ here. This was meant to be the feroundation for a night out. Instead we felt so deflated by the experience we just headed straight home.

Very mixed feelings about our dinner here, and the bill didn't help: this restaurant is unashamedly overpricing and seems to get away with that. The gin-cured trout (starter) was soooooo tiny a dish that it should be filed under "appetizers", not "starters". My plate had a minuscule (truely !) serving of said trout, and the quantity of shallot confit (one spoonful) accompanying it made sure that it was impossible to taste the trout at all, unless if you ate it on itself. This was the most expensive starter on the menu, and imho definitely overpriced. My partners' starter (risotto bon bon) was worth the name "starter", but the herbs on which the risotto was to rely were very, very timid in aroma. On the other hand, the crunchy outer layer of the bon bon was very well executed. On to the mains: My warm salad with heritage tomatoes, caramelized peach and goats cheese mousse was good... but had the size of a starter. The peach was not caramelized, which is a pity. My partners' sea bass main was overall close to ok, the fish very dry though, which is a shame for such a beautiful product. And, again, the serving's size was not what you'd expect for a decent main in this price range. I am / we are not expecting big portions, that's really not the case, but at Café Bohème, they were truely not up to standards, moreover given the price. Service: weird. We were seated, given a menu, 2 minutes later our waitress brought us two bread plates and assorted knives. A little bit later, she came back for the drinks order. When I asked for a glass of Carignan, she started laughing and asked me to point out said wine on the winelist. Being french-speaking, maybe I pronounced it in a way she is not used to, but why that should result in an outright laugh is a mystery to me. When the glasses of wine were served, she took away the bread plates and knives. Why? No idea. When we ordered our food, and also some bread (which you have to pay for), she brought the plates back. If you only bring plates for bread to people who order bread, please bring them after the bread order is placed (how complicated can it be?). After we finished our starters, half of the bread we had on our table was left. She asked if she could take it away. We said we wanted to keep it, she gave us a surprised look and laughed (again). What is the point here? You order bread which you have to pay for, but you're supposed to finish it at the same time as your starter? I don't get it. Halfway through our main course, another waitress came to ask if we wanted another glass of wine. A little too late, sadly. After finishing our mains, our waitress came to clear the table: she piled my partner's plate and cutlery on top of mine which was still sitting right in front of me, then took the pile away. That's not how it's done... One minute later, she put a menu under our noses, saying "Dessert". Nothing more, nothing less. Strange feeling: why don't you just ask "Would you like to have a look at the dessert menu?". We didn't order dessert, just one espresso each. A total bill of over £ 110 for the both of us, with 2 starters, 2 mains, bread, 2 glasses of white wine and 2 espressos. We have paid similar amounts and got a lot more in return: truely savoury and innovative dishes, complimentary bread, relaxed professionnal and welcoming service, all without having to leave feeling still quite hungry. I'm really sad that our dinner turned out this way. Maybe it was just tough luck for us? Unfortunately, this leaves us with a "would not recommend". There are far better options in Aberdeen in this price range, with an excellent value-and-service-for-money (at least, based on our experience).

From the point of view of a French person on vacation, Scotland is a culinaryly difficult, even distressing, destination on a daily basis. Oasis in the middle of the desert (and the holidays), this restaurant designated "French cuisine" which does not in fact offer a particularly French dish, but just good and well-cooked dishes (the wine list is indeed French, which does not night not). This evening, we enjoyed the Scottish mussels (+++) while the risotto was more average as a starter. The fish (Hake) and meat (pigeon) were very good. Attentive and efficient service. In short, a welcome step in the middle of the usual defrosted and fried dishes.

Went out for my wife's 40th and we were seated next to 2 foul mouthed, loud, inebriated business men. We asked to be moved which felt like an issue for the staff but they did eventually move us. I ordered the seared sea bream. I was asked if I minded it being the whole fish which I assumed meant it would have the head and tail. It arrived minus the head and tail, but completely un-filleted. Gave up picking bones out after 30 minutes and approximately 1/3 of the fish. No one asked why I had left so much of the dish that cost £25. The wine was distinctly average despite opting for a more expensive bottle. This was our 4th outing here. It's really gone downhill in recent times. I won't hurry back, and nor should you.

Good restaurant. It’s perfect for a date night. The food is sublime and there is a wide selection of wines and spirits. Service is excellent.

Had a lovely late lunch/early dinner to celebrate a friend finishing his PhD thesis. The staff were amazing and helped us celebrate with complementary bubbles in the beginning, and deducted the dessert wines from our bill. We were very touched by this. We ordered starters, mains and coffees with petit fours, all delicious, and a bottle of wine. This continues to be my favourite restaurant for celebrations in Aberdeen. The ambiance and service are exceptional. Thank you!

I enjoyed a fantastic birthday dinner at Cafe Boheme last week with really lovely food, a nice Belgian beer and the most amazing crème brûlée to finish off with. The staff were so nice and made my birthday special with the addition of a candle in my dessert ☺️ The menu has a good variety and being vegetarian, I chose the golden beetroot tart which was lovely, especially the smoked walnut vegan cheese that it came with. I would highly recommend Cafe Boheme.

First visit to Cafe Boheme, it definitely won’t be the last. Great ambiance, excellent food, generous portions, very good service and competitive prices. We arrived a little early but were greeted at the bar and were shown to our table which was ready for us. Thursday evening is jazz night and we were pleasantly surprised to find a duo playing live music. We were immediately offered water for the table while we viewed the menu. My wife chose mussels to start, I had a Roquefort crème brûlée. We followed this with lamb and beef mains, and I rounded it off with a wonderful crème brûlée. Everything was beautifully prepared and with just the right pause in between courses. A lovely evening and it certainly won’t be our last visit.

All about this place is top notch. Friendly and attentive staff, the place is comfy, warm ambience, elegant but casual vibe at the same time. And the food is AMAZINGLY GOOD. My wife had the risotto and I got the lamb. Both delicious. One of the gems we discovered in Aberdeen.
